Your car's hood keeps popping open while you're driving, which happens repeatedly and unpredictably. Closing and slamming it shut works temporarily, but the problem keeps recurring more frequently. While there's a safety latch that prevents the hood from fully opening, it's still alarming when it happens during driving. The issue may be related to a faulty hood latch cable or the latch mechanism itself, and a mechanic should inspect and replace the worn hood latch assembly or cable.

THE DRIVERS' EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS OPENING THE DOOR. I NOTICED THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10720976. UP TO NOW I WASN'T SURE WHAT TO THINK ABOUT IT, BUT AFTER SEEING THAT MY CAR ISN'T THE ONLY ONE IT HAS HAPPENED TO I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE CAR'S COMPONENTS. AS FAR AS ANY INJURY, HIS HAND WAS CUT WHEN THE HANDLE BROKE OFF AND I CAN'T HELP BUT HURT MY OWN HAND EVERY TIME I TRY TO OPEN THE DRIVERS' DOOR. IT HAS FORCED US TO ENTER THRU THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND SLIDE OVER (WHICH IS NOT PLEASANT NOR COMFORTABLE).

I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS; MY GRANDFATHER GAVE IT TO ME, SO IT'S ONLY HAD TWO OWNERS. LOW MILES (80,000). I AM REPLACING THE DRIVER'S EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FOR THE THIRD TIME AND PASSENGER'S EXTERIOR FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE EXTERIOR HANDLES MERELY SNAP OFF. I WISH TOYOTA WOULD OFFER REPLACEMENT HANDLES MADE OF METAL RATHER THAN PLASTIC. THIS MAY ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. THE STATE I LIVE IN REQUIRES A YEARLY VEHICLE INSPECTION AND DUE TO THE BROKEN HANDLES, MY CAR FAILED YESTERDAY.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BEING REAR ENDED AND MONTHS LATER AFTER THE ACCIDENT, WHEN SHE TURNED A CORNER THE DOORS WOULD UNLOCK AND THE LIGHT IN THE CEILING WOULD COME ON AND LIGHTS ON DASH SHOWED DOORS OPENED *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED SHE SUFFERED EXTENSIVE INJURIES, BUT THERE WAS LITTLE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.

THE CONSUMER HAS CLEANED THE WINDOWS BUT THE HAZE REAPPEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS VINYL OUT GASES PER TOYOTA TECH ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD LAST FROM 6 MONTHS TO 1 YEAR AND COULDN'T BE CORRECTED. THE HAZE IMPAIRS THE CONSUMER VISION ESPECIALLY AT DUSK AND AT NIGHT. THE CONSUMER ALSO BELIEVES THIS PROBLEM IS A HEALTH ISSUE AND DRIVES WITH THE CONVERTIBLE TOP DOWN. *NM
