Your steering wheel gradually shifted to the left during highway driving, and your dashboard warning light for electronic stability control came on. Multiple dealerships identified the issue as a loose jam nut that stripped the drag link (a steering component), which could have caused you to lose control of the vehicle. Repairs including a steering gearbox replacement, drag link replacement, and clockspring replacement were quoted at over $3,000 and not covered by your extended warranty.

While reversing, you heard an abnormal popping sound from your truck. While driving, your steering wheel unexpectedly turned to the left on its own without you turning it. Your husband discovered a loose bolt on the driver's side steering gearbox, and the dealer found a hairline fracture in the subframe caused by rust at 50,000 miles. Repairing this would require replacing or welding the damaged subframe and tightening or replacing the steering gearbox bolts.

Your steering wanders and won't keep the truck going straight, even at different speeds. Despite replacing the upper and lower ball joints, steering gearbox, and performing four front-end alignments, the steering settings won't stay adjusted to factory specifications—the shop has checked the suspension multiple times without finding worn or damaged parts. The repair may involve further diagnostic testing of the steering column, tie rods, or electronic steering components to identify why alignment adjustments aren't holding.

While driving 50 mph in traffic 2019 Ram 2500 Bighorn 6.7 Cummings Diesel lost power, steering failed and brakes failed. I had to use the emergency brake to avoid a crash. I had my daughter and 2 grandsons in the truck. ESC or ESCM light and engine light. Then the truck wouldn’t turn off. Then there was an awful noise from under the hood - it was a now loose pulley and belt.
I just bought this truck used, remotely, sight unseen. Dealership that sold me this didnt mention this or any other issues with the truck!! When cornering, sharp or gradual at any speed, the wheel jerks back and forth, or jerks. Very unsafe feeling. And could easily cause truck entering opposite lane. Took this to the dealer locally and they confirmed that have heard of this issue before, said a new steering box will likely correct problem. This was also confirmed by my diesel mechanic.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while her son was driving approximately 24 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and suddenly the steering wheel became inoperable causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a parked vehicle. During the failure, the brakes were also inoperable. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries reported. A police report was filed and the vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

POWER STEERING CONTINUES TO GO OUT, VIBRATION AND "STICKING" AS I PRESS THE BRAKE, AND CLUNKING IN THE SUSPENSION. DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIGURE IT OUT!!!!! VIBRATION OCCURS CONSTANTLY, MORE SO ON START UP. CLUNKING OCCURS WHEN GOING AROUND A TURN AT ANY MPH. I HAVE VIDEOS TO SHOW BOTH ISSUES!
I RECEIVED A "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" (DRAG LINK) NOTICE (W49/NHTSA 20E-043) IN THE MAIL. I SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR 8/6/20. PER THE DEALERSHIP THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. I'M NOTIFYING MY INSURANCE UNDERWRITER JUST IN CASE AN ACCIDENT RELATED TO THIS OCCURS. WHAT AM I TO DO NOW ???, I'M NOT FEELING VERY SAFE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AT THIS POINT. CAN I ASK RAM FOR A REFUND AND TO TAKE THIS TRUCK BACK OR AM I TO BE UNDER THE MENTAL STRESS OF WHEN IS THIS GOING TO CAUSE ME TO HAVE A WRECK AND MAYBE LOOSE MEMBERS OF MY FAMILY AND OR MY LIFE AND GOD FORBID SOME OTHER PERSONS LIFE. WHAT AM I TO DO ???. HELP ME PLEASE. THANK YOU
EXITED FREEWAY ON OFFRAMP, CAME TO AN INTERSECTION WAITING TO TURN RIGHT. WHEN I STARTED RIGHT TURN, I NOTICED THAT THE STEERING RADIUS APPEARED TO BE BLOCKED OR SIGNIFICANTLY DIMINISHED AS I COULDN'T ADEQUATELY TURN RIGHT, AND WAS LEANING HARD ON THE WHEEL, SO THE TURN WAS TOO WIDE GIVEN THE LOSS OF STEERING TO THE RIGHT. THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION AFTER THE VEHICLE CONTINUED STRAIGHT.
