FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2009-2012 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks currently, or ever registered, in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. Exposure to environmental conditions such as water mixed with road salt may cause the front fuel tank strap frame "T-Slot" bracket to corrode, possibly causing the fuel tank to drop and make contact with the ground.

Fix: Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will bolt a bracket reinforcement to the frame, free of charge. The recall began May 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U04.

You took your vehicle to the dealer for a fuel system issue, but they refused to repair it, claiming your older vehicle isn't their responsibility. They gave you a completed repair form without actually doing any work. Your vehicle is now failing brake and light inspections and you can't register it. The dealer said the system update would take 2-3 weeks, but it's been nearly 2 months with no progress.

WHEN I START MY 2010 RAM 1500 THERE IS A LOUD TICK COMING FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, FROM THE BOLTS BREAKING DUE TO THE MATERIAL USED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE CAB THROUGH THE VENTS.

DURING FUEL FILL GAS WILL OVERFLOW OUT THE FUEL TANK AFTER THE GAS NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. THIS LEAVES A LARGE PUDDLE OF GAS ON THE GROUND AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND IF I WAS STANDING NEAR THE NOZZLE I WOULD BE FULL OF GAS ON MY CLOTHING. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY FILL UP NO MATTER THE GAS STATION. SEEN DOZENS OF ON-LINE INFORMATION INCLUDING YOU TUBE VIDEOS OF EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER SAME YEAR MODEL TRUCKS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD A BIG HOLE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

I HAVE HAD THREE EVENTS OF GAS SPEWING OUT AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. THE MOST RECENT PROMPTED ME TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL FILLER TUBE AND VAPOR CANISTER. MY DODGE RAM 1500 (2010) HAD ITS FUEL PUMP FAIL. I WOULD LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING AND HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING. IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE, I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION TO THE ON POSITION, WAIT A MOMENT OR TWO, THEN START THE TRUCK. IF I DIDN'T WAIT THE TRUCK WOULDN'T START. SOMETIMES WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR EVEN TO PASS, I WOULD NOTICE A LACK OF POWER AS IF THE ENGINE WAS STARVING FOR FUEL. TWO OR THREE TIMES IT WOULD STALL WHILE WAITING AT AN INTERSECTION FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE TO GREEN. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A DODGE DEALER FOR THE PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP ONLY LASTS 4 TO 5 YEARS AND THAT WAS WHY IT FAILED. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED. SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE OVER $800.00 I HAD TO PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PLAN IN ORDER TO GET IT CHANGED. *TR

DRIVING UP A STEEP MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY WHEN TRUCK LURCHED VIOLENTLY TWICE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A SWITCHBACK CORNER WITH A HORRIBLE DRAGGING SOUND AND SMOKE EVERYWHERE. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR BACKWARD. OIL AND DRIVELINE PARTS WERE ALL OVER THE HIGHWAY. DENTED THE GAS TANK (POSSIBLY PUT A HOLE IN THE GAS TANK), WE WERE TOLD THE GAS TANK WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACED. THE REAR-END PINION NUT CAME LOOSE AND LOCKED UP THE REAR END CAUSING THE DRIVELINE TO FALL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, TORE A HOLE IN THE TRANSFER CASE AND DAMAGED THE GAS TANK. WE WERE SIMPLY LUCKY THERE WERE OTHER MOTORISTS ON SAME HIGHWAY THAT COULD STOP AND HELP US AVOID A MAJOR COLLISION ON THE STEEP, BLIND CORNER/ON THE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY. DODGE IS GIVING US THE "RUN AROUND" ON GETTING THIS FIXED. THEY FINALLY REPAIRED THE TRUCK, PUTTING THE SAME, BUT NEW FAULTY PART THAT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF A RECALL PROCESS, INTO OUR TRUCK AND WANTING US TO BE HAPPY WITH IT. WE ARE NOT. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE TRUCK WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART IN THE PICKUP. DODGE HAS NO "FIX" FOR US. THEY WANT US TO DRIVE OUR PICKUP WITH THE RECALLED PART UNTIL THEY COME UP WITH A FIXED PART. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, SINCE IT COULD CAUSE THE FUEL TANK TO DROP AND CAUSE A FIRE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE AND THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ALTER THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN.
