vehicle has 113,000 miles on it now, the engine is knocking so I brought it in to Weber in Detroit Lakes Minnesota they say it needs cams and lifters e c t. Estimate is $5,000 or new engine $9,000 so now I can't get to work! I commute back and forth every day 70 miles each way, this vehicle should not have this problem as of yet in my eyes! Will the factory / dealership warranty this fix for me? I purchased vehicle from Weber in Detroit Lakes almost four years ago with 80,000 miles on it I have only driven at 33,000 miles since then!! I don't have that kind of money for this fix nor can I afford to buy a replacement vehicle but now the knocking you can hear it outside the vehicle but you cannot hear it in the cab of the vehicle so how long has this problem actually been going on before the fact of me noticing it just very recently so then I quit driving it immediately and brought it directly to Weber as per appointment

I WAS INFORMED BY THE CHRYSLER DEALER THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT PASS SAFETY INSPECTION. THE REASON FOR THE FAILURE WAS BECAUSE OF EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS THAT HAVE BROKEN, THEREFORE THE SEAL BETWEEN THE MANIFOLD AND THE ENGINE HAD BEEN COMPROMISED. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 60000 MILES ON IT. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH IT IS EVIDENT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE AND ENGINE COMBINATION. THERE ARE VAST AMOUNTS OF COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS EXACT ISSUE AND HOW TO REMEDY THIS DESIGN FLAW. I ATTEMPTED TO REACH OUT TO CHRYSLER SO THEY COULD PERFORM A GOODWILL GESTURE REPAIR. MY ATTEMPT WAS DENIED, WITH NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY. THE ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN, AND CHRYSLER IS AT FAULT AND NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR USING INFERIOR BOLTS OR IMPROPER ENGINEERING TECHNIQUES. THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR, AND WHILE COSTLY, CHRYSLER SHOULD BARE THE COST TO MAKE THESE VEHICLES SAFE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.

THERE IS A VERY LOUD DISTINCT TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE ENGINE MANIFOLD. AFTER 30-60 SECONDS IT ALMOST DISAPPEARS; SIMILAR TO ANY OTHER VIDEO OR COMPLAINT FOUND ON THE WWW. SOME HAVE CALLED THEIR DODGE DEALER COMPLAINING ABOUT IT AND EVEN THE DEALERS ARE RECOGNIZING THAT IT IS A FLAW BUT A RECALL WILL NEVER HAPPEN!

I HAVE WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT HAVE BROKEN BOLTS ON MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKET, BUT IT IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL, BECAUSE MY VIN DOES NOT STATE IT. THE TRUCK HAS THE SAME PARTS AS ALL THE OTHER TRUCKS, BUT IS NOT CONSIDERED UNDER THE RECALL ALTHOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHERS. THE DEFECT IS COSTING MAJOR MONEY ON MY BEHALF ON SOMETHING THAT IS OUT OF MY CONTROL AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURE.

THE END RESULT IS A COSTLY REPAIR HAVING TO REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTER. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND WILL THROW A P030# CODE FOR A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER(S). WHEN THE MISFIRE HAPPENS THE VEHICLE STARTS SHACKING HORRIBLY. I HAVE SEEN A REPORT THAT A 2016 WITH 15K MILES HAD THE ISSUE ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2009 WITH ONLY 72K MILES AND SEVERAL IN BETWEEN. THERE ARE MULTIPLE FORUMS, THREADS, AND COMMENTS ON THIS ISSUE. IT SEEMS VERY COMMON AND DODGE SHOULD BE PROVIDING ASSISTANCE OUTSIDE OF WARRANTIES. YET THEY CHOOSE TO DO NOTHING EXCEPT LOSE CUSTOMERS. 2) THE RECURRING EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAKING. MINE WAS REPAIRED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AND IS CURRENTLY HAVING THE ISSUE AGAIN. AGAIN DODGE SEEMS TO DO NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE MATERIALS TO PREVENT THE ISSUE FROM RECURRING.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS HAD BROKEN, THIS CAUSES EXHAUST FUMES TO ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DURING THE WINTER WHEN USING THE HEATER, AND THE SUMMER USING THE AIR CONDITIONER. . I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY CHRYSLER USING SUBSTANDARD MATERIALS FOR THESE BOLTS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THE "HEMI" ENGINE, SO MUCH SO THAT THERE ARE YOU TUBE VIDEOS SHOWING HOW TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER ESTIMATED THE REPAIR COST TO BE $ 1800.00. AS TIME GOES BY I FELT THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS WAS NEVER A PROBLEM WITH OLDER VEHICLES, AND IT HAPPENED AROUND 65,000 MILES THOUGH I TOOK IT IN AROUND 70000 MILES FOR THE ESTIMATE. THESE BOLTS SHOULD OUTLAST THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE VEHICLE IF THEY WERE MADE OF THE PROPER MATERIALS OR WERE PROPERLY HEAT TREATED. IT SEEMS TO BE A REGULAR OCCURRING PROBLEM WITH DODGE RAMS WITH THE HEMI ENGINE. THE DATE OF THE ESTIMATE IS APPROXIMATE.

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED A FOURTH TIME AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS WHERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE STALLED A FIFTH TIME AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY FLUSHED THE FUEL OUT AND REPLACED THE COMPUTER MODULE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE OWNER OF THE DEALER WHO STATED HE WOULD GIVE THE CONTACT A CALL WITH MORE INFORMATION ABOUT RETURNING THE VEHICLE BUT HAS NOT RETURNED THE CALL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED A DIFFERENT TECHNICIAN WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2010 DODGE 1500 RAM PICKUP THREE WEEKS AGO. SINCE THAT TIME INTERMEDIATE THE LIGHTS FOR THE ANTILOCK BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL COME ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS NOT WORKING OR WORKING OFF AND ON. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD POP THE HOOD BECAUSE THE MAIN ELECTRICAL BLOCK UNDER THE HOOD ON SOME HAVE HAD NOT PROPERLY CONNECTED PLUGS ON THE BACK AND THEY MAY VIBRATE LOOSE AND I SHOULD WIGGLE THEM AROUND AND SEE IF THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM. I WILL TAKE THE TRUCK IN FOR THEM TO TRY AND REPAIR BUT IT APPEARS TO ME THAT IF THE CONNECTOR IS LOOSE ON THESE THAT THE POWER INTERRUPTION TO THE CIRCUIT WILL MAKE THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS INOPERABLE FOR THE PERIOD OF TIME THE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED AND COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS IF THIS OCCURS AT THE WRONG TIME. I HAVE PICS AND VIDEO OF THE ISSUES. THERE IS ALSO TO GIVE A BIGGER SCOPE OF THE BLOCKS LOOSENESS NO HEATED SEAT EXCEPT DRIVER NO COOLED SEAT EXCEPT DRIVER ALL 4 POSITIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HEATED AND COOLED.
