Open Safety Recalls (2)
NHTSA Campaign: 23V421000
Component: STRUCTURE:BODY
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2022 Sentra vehicles. The driver's side cowl area may have a missing or improper seal, which can allow water to leak inside the vehicle and corrode electrical components.
Risk: Corrosion of the electrical components could result in failure of various electrical systems, such as loss of wiper motor function or exterior lighting, inoperative air bags, or the ability to shift into gear without applying the brake pedal. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash. In addition, an electrical short-circuit may occur, increasing the risk of a fire.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, reseal the driver's side cowl. If moisture or corrosion is found, the main harness and engine room harness will be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 26, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669.
NHTSA Campaign: 23V581000
Component: STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Sentra vehicles. The left and/or right tie rod may bend.
Risk: A bent tie rod can break and cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Owners are advised to contact their dealer for transport assistance if they are experiencing an off-center steering wheel or vibration. As an interim repair, dealers will inspect and replace any bent or broken tie rods, free of charge. Once newly designed parts are available, dealers will replace both left and right tie rods, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 27, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R23B3. This recall replaces and expands recall number 21V-461. Vehicles previously repaired under 21V-461 will need to have the new remedy completed.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 75)
Steering →5 issues
Your steering wheel is steering the vehicle on its own without you turning it, causing your car to drift into other lanes while driving. This problem happens repeatedly and consistently. The issue may be related to a known steering recall, but your vehicle's VIN wasn't included in that recall campaign. A repair will likely require a steering system diagnosis and possible replacement of steering components or electronic control modules.

You were denied service at a Nissan dealership for a steering safety recall because your car has a rebuilt title. You contacted Nissan corporate and learned that dealerships are supposed to perform safety recalls regardless of rebuilt title status. Getting this resolved may require escalating your complaint with Nissan corporate or finding a different authorized dealer willing to perform the recall work.

You noticed vibration in your steering wheel in January 2022. After tire alignment and wheel balancing didn't fix it, you discovered a recall (23V-581) for defective tie rods in your Sentra. The dealership replaced the tie rods, but the steering wheel vibration persists. You believe the original substandard parts may have damaged other steering components that now also need repair.

Your car makes noises when turning and the steering wheel vibrates severely, especially during acceleration and on the highway. You're also experiencing the car pulling to the right, which creates a safety concern for your family. Many 2022 Sentras have a recall for bent tie rods that causes these exact symptoms, but your dealer says you're not on the recall list and wants to charge $230 just to diagnose the problem. Fixing this will likely involve inspecting and replacing the tie rods and possibly other steering components.

Your floorboard vibrates on both the driver and passenger sides while driving, especially at higher speeds but now also at lower speeds. A mechanic replaced your brake rotors and pads, but the vibration continued. You believe this may be related to a previous steering recall (23V581000) that was completed on your vehicle, and the issue remains unresolved. The steering system may need further inspection or adjustment to correct the underlying cause of the vibration.

After purchasing your 2022 Nissan Sentra, the dealership told you all recalls were completed. However, you later received notice from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles indicating there's still an open recall on your vehicle. You should contact your dealership or Nissan directly to identify and complete the remaining recall work.

When you turn your steering wheel left or right, one side of your car makes a lot of noise. You've received a recall notice about this issue, and you're concerned it's causing premature tire wear. The noise suggests a suspension or steering component needs inspection and repair to prevent further tire damage.

You've noticed water droplets on the passenger side interior of your car, which appear when you run the air conditioner. The carpet underneath feels wet, and you suspect it may be related to air conditioner condensation, similar to recalls you've read about for 2022 Sentras. This could indicate a blocked or improperly draining AC condensation line that needs inspection and potential cleaning or replacement.

Electrical System →2 issues
Your car shut off while driving from a stop at an intersection, and it wouldn't restart—multiple warning lights came on including check engine, ABS, and battery warnings. A police officer had to help block traffic to prevent a crash, and your car had to be towed home. You've experienced this stalling problem repeatedly while driving and idling. After a jump-start, AutoZone diagnosed a dead battery, but even after replacing it, you noticed a water flowing sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The dealer was unable to diagnose or repair the issue. The fix will likely involve replacing the battery and investigating the source of the water sound, which could indicate a coolant or drainage problem.

Your car's child safety locks on the windows are randomly activating and trapping your windows in a locked position, even though you haven't intentionally engaged them. Sometimes you can unlock them by pushing the child lock button repeatedly, but they may lock again, making three of your windows difficult or impossible to use. The fix will likely involve inspecting the child lock mechanism and either adjusting, cleaning, or replacing the faulty locking components.

Service Brakes →2 issues
Your brake booster failed twice within 1,300 miles — first at 38,349 miles with a loud boom and insulation falling, then again at 39,630 miles. The second dealership found oil in your brake fluid but couldn't explain why. Before the first failure, you noticed your brake pedal was stiff when starting the car, and this stiffness has continued even after the replacement. The repeated failures in such a short time suggest an underlying issue that may need further investigation beyond just replacing the booster component.

While your car was idling in the driveway, you pressed the brake pedal and heard an extremely loud explosion that was heard across multiple towns. Insulation was hanging from the undercarriage of your car. The Nissan dealership confirmed that your brake booster exploded, which they said they had never encountered before. The dealership is still diagnosing the issue, and this could potentially affect your ability to brake safely if it had occurred while driving on a highway.

Electrical System, back Over Prevention, forward Collision Avoidance →1 issue
Your car is showing repeated malfunction warnings for the front and rear collision sensors, which are also causing your traction control and lane departure warning systems to stop working properly. This is a safety concern because these sensors are designed to help prevent accidents, and if they're corroding or failing, they could potentially cause electrical damage or fire. The dealership hasn't been able to fix the issue despite multiple service visits.

Electrical System,engine →1 issue
Your car is stalling unexpectedly while driving and during startup, with the check engine light coming on and rough shaking before it dies. This happened on the freeway, and you've noticed it continues to happen randomly — you have to wait a few minutes before the car will start again. The problem likely involves a faulty sensor or electrical connection affecting the engine, and may require diagnostic testing to identify which component is failing.

Wheels,unknown Or Other →1 issue
Your car's EGR valve failed and prevented the engine from starting. The wheel bearings also failed earlier than expected, and when replacing them, you discovered the CVT shafts were stripped from the factory, requiring replacement along with the struts. A mechanic noted this is unusual wear for the low mileage on your vehicle.

Exterior Lighting →1 issue
Your front passenger headlight flickers on and off, and the connector has started to burn from the electrical issue. Your rear passenger taillight is also out. You're experiencing electrical problems that are causing your speakers to sound scratchy and your gear shifter to occasionally stick. The dealership confirmed this matches a known electrical recall for your vehicle's VIN. Fixing this will likely require the dealership to repair or replace the faulty wiring harness and connectors as part of the recall service.

Electrical System,structure →1 issue
Your front headlights are turning off by themselves while driving at night, requiring you to repeatedly flip the headlight switch to get them back on. Additionally, your Forward Collision Avoidance system and backup sensors are also shutting off on their own, with warning lights appearing on your dashboard to confirm they're disabled. This problem has been happening repeatedly over several years. The fix will likely require a dealer to diagnose and repair an electrical or wiring issue in your vehicle's lighting and sensor systems.

Steering,wheels,unknown Or Other →1 issue
You experienced a wobble while driving on the freeway and brought your car to a Nissan dealer for inspection. The dealer suggested your tires needed replacement and your car might be out of alignment, but dismissed your concern about a potential recall match. You're worried this could be a safety issue since your vehicle's year, make, and model fall within a recall range and your symptoms seem consistent with it.
