2016 Nissan Rogue Seat Belts Problems

Passenger side seat belt does not lock when doing the sharp pull test. Dealer wants $150 diagnostic fee to check it out. If there is an accident, the passenger may not be protected by the seat belt.

My wife Lois (84) was driving the car. she was alone. The air bags on the passenger side exploded and sprayed her with its contents that appear to me to be deadly and can cause death or brain injury.

BOTH PARENTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE AND WERE PRONOUNCED DECEASED 36 HOURS LATER. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: 2019-3451 WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED OR IF THE EVENT DATA RECORDER WAS INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED IF THE VEHICLE HAD AN AUDIBLE CHIME TO REMIND THE OCCUPANTS WHEN THEIR SEAT BELTS WERE NOT SECURED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. *DT*DT*DT*JB*JB

Major accident, swerved to avoid a deer and hit a pole. The airbag did not deploy. I was buckled and seat belt did not get.

In April 2021 I purchased a 2016 Nissan Rogue. A few times I noticed that I did not have my seatbelt on while driving which for me, is highly unusual because it is the first thing I do once I start my engine. It is the AUDIBLE chime that alerts me. I then specifically started my engine and realized that the car DID NOT have a safety belt CHIME. ( FMVSS 208 S7.3 ) I took it to a Nissan dealer. The technician told me that Nissan DID NOT put a safety belt audible chime in ANY of their vehicles before 2020. I could not believe what I was hearing. Not only is this feature federal law but, it is also in the Nissan owners manual. It is not a feature that can be turned on or off. It is a federal requirement. Nissan is violating federal law and has been doing so for years at the expense of the American people. I am worried for my safety and the safety of others since it is difficult to DISCOVER that there is no audible seat belt safety chime and that it is a safety issue that might prevent one from putting on their seatbelt so that they don’t go flying through the front windshield. Federal law states: “manufacturers have an OPTION. They can EITHER use a seatbelt symbol AND an audible chime OR The words “ Seat Belt” AND An audible chime”. The audible chime is not an OPTION it is a requirement. The chime is NOT a feature that can be turned on or off in any Nissan vehicle including my 2016 Nissan Rogue. The consumer needs to know about this missing safety feature as per Federal law. I wonder how many lives have been lost because Someone just like me, needed that audible safety belt chime to remind them that their seat belt was not buckled and it cost them their lives. There is a reason that the safety belt safety law has two components. A VISUAL and an AUDIBLE safety belt feature. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards exist for the safety of the American people. With Nissan, this does not seem to matter.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT HAS BECOME FULLY RETRACTED AND IS CURRENTLY IN A LOCKED POSITION WHERE IT WILL NOT PULL OUT AT ALL. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT AND NOTHING HAPPENED AT ALL INVOLVING THE AIRBAG ON THAT SIDE, THIS SITUATION HAS TAKEN PLACE ALL ON ITS OWN AND IS NOW PREVENTING ME FROM CARRYING ANY PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONING OF THAT PARTICULAR SEAT BELT. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY OWN PARKING SPACE WITH THE ENGINE TURNED OFF.

THE SEATBELT IS STUCK

My seat belt will not come out to securely buckle in my passengers. I went to the dealer and they said it was the seat framework which is pinching the seatbelt.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 nissan rogue. After using the third row seat belts on both the driver and passenger sides, the buckle was pushed into and between the seat cushion and could no longer be buckled. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed.

Unlike other car this car don’t warn for seat belts. Blind spot lights frequently appers for the vehicle even though the vehicle is opposite direction divided highway .while driving the tires makes unpleasant sound like its not aligned properly .

Seat belt - back driver side seat belt would not fasten. The metal portion of the belt would not "click" into the seat piece. Purchased the vehicle less than 30 days ago from carmax, so it is covered by their 30-day warranty.
