2015 Nissan Rogue Transmission Problems

What component failed: The CVT on our 2015 Nissan Rogue failed while in operation. The vehicle is now inoperable. In 12/2024, at 84,000 miles, we brought the car to a Nissan dealership due to stalling and hesitation.

I have 2015 Nissan Rouge Select for almost 9 year and I haven’t get in any accident with this car . But my air bag light keep turn off twice within a year . Last year it happened on driver side , I replaced it at dealership and the same issue happened just 10 months later .

My issue was with the car’s CVT, specifically related to the torque converter (code P0744). I was driving on the highway, driving up hill on a busy interstate and my car suddenly and very noticeably decelerated/lost engine power such that even attempting to accelerate by pushing the pedal all the way to the floor would not allow me to recover my speed.

My teenager daughter was attempting to merge onto US 15-501 traffic and the vehicle wouldn't accelerate, it kept hesitating. Oncoming traffic almost rear ended her. She got off on an exit and stopped at the red light.

Was driving along vehicle in motion on way home from work on a fall evening that gets dark pretty quickly. Slowed down at a stop light and the transmission suddenly died while going over an incline. Vehicle refused to move forward and almost rolled back into the vehicle behind me.

Our CVT transmission went out while going 70 down the highway. Completely out of the blue, no prior symptoms. No acceleration.

I was driving home from work one evening, and since the other vehicles were passing me on the freeway. I decided to change from "eco" mode to "sport" mode because the acceleration is more responsive and smooth.

My wife and I were returning from a Thanksgiving trip to relatives in Virginia southbound on I 95 She was driving and we both felt the car shudder as we began to lose speed. There was no acceleration even though the Tachometer was in a high range. We limped into a Rest Area ,shut down the car and called a tow service.

On approximately October 24, 2022, my 2015 Nissan Rogue Select began having transmission trouble. Specifically, it was lurching and making a grinding noise between first and second gears. It is an automatic so it would actually be between 1200 and 1600 rpms.

I own a 2015 Nissan Rogue with 70,000 miles.Pulling into driveway at 2mph, car suddenly accelerated by itself , leaving me with no control over the car and unable to make it stop before hitting a truck in the rear and pushing the truck sideways. The truck had been parked in driveway. Brakes did not stop the acceleration.

My car had gear slipped down to neutral and lost power while driving on a highway and as I was pushed the gas pedal after about 10secs jumped back to gear and accelerated unexpectedly.

While driving my 2015 nissan rogue on a busy highway at 70 MPH, all of the sudden the speed dropped and would not go over 60. I was able to drive to nearest repair shop with hazard lights on. By the time I drove into repair, the speed was doen to 45 MPH.

Vehicle lost all power to accelerate when outside temperature was high or the vehicle had been in use for several hours. Installation of an external transmission fluid cooler fixed the problem. Vehicle was unsafe without this addition.

2015 nissan rogue, brought brand new, has 63,000 miles. Having transmission issues for >9 months. I have had no previous issues until then.

There is something desperately wrong with the transmission/power in my vehicle. I lose power when going up hills, especially when they are continual, like up a mountain pass! There is a super high pitched noise when the car runs for over an hour, like squealing.

There is a recall on the nissan rouge 2015 on nissan recall page relating to reprogrammng of CVT transmission from 8th of december 2016 but this isn't on your page. My transmission went and was told it is over the mileage warranty and when asked was their a recall on my vehicle was told emphatically no however on investigation there is two recalls.

I was driving in snowy conditions and vehicle began baulking as if it was going to stall. A chassis system control warning displayed on th dash. I contacted the dealership and they advised it was due to the slippery road conditions.

I was driving on freeway with cruise control on and noticed a couple of 'slips' in the transmission that made the car slow down and 'jerk'. Thinking it might have been a bit of bad gas, I kept driving for about 20 minutes. The transfer case system failed, and it is available for inspection upon request. My safety and others safety was put at risk because my vehicle malfunctioned. It is difficult to go uphill and it has turned off on multiple occasions.

Was driving the vehicle and came to a train crossing in our area,put the vehicle in park and waited until train had passed (6 Minutes ?) and after gates went up and placed vehicle in drive again I couldn't get it to move....After waiting and putting it in low position it slowly caught and was able to get vehicle home which is 1.5 miles and have not been able to get it to move in any position.

The transmission failed. The vehicle is not in my possession anymore it was sold to Carmax in May 2023. My safety and safety of others was put at risk in my opinion.

Able to shift out of the "Park" position without depressing the brake pedal. Moved while parked and kids were in the car unbuckled. Could have injured the kids as well as anyone who was around the car at the time.

Oct 9, 2021 had issues including loss of power, transmission jerking, transmission slipping while driving. Just returned from dealer for service on my 2015 Nissan Rogue with 55k miles saying it needs a new CVT and it's not covered under warranty. First occurred on Oct 9, the dealer applied the reprogram on Oct 12, but issue came back that night.

Nissan issued a Recall Campaign Bulletin on this issue on September 23, 2020 (attached). This issue is caused by a failed electric controlled coupling that transmits driving force to the rear final drive. Under certain circumstances primary failure of this device can lead to secondary failures that can create dynamic instability and loss of traction.

When the car is driven in stop and go traffic, the transmission stops working, engine would rev but the car will move at extremely slow speed, at that point, I have to pull over, turn off the car and then start the car again. Upon starting the car again, the transmission will work fine.

Vehicle has intermittent transmission problems. RPS's increase, speedometer increase however vehicle does not increase speed, then all of a sudden vehicle will increase at high rate of speed. This is dangerous and could severely injure someone.

I was driving down the tollway at night and alone when my car stopped accelerating but my RPM's went up to 5,000. I managed to pull over and shut it off . Tried again, it would not go.

I was turning on a road with a 50 MPH speed limit and my car started shuddering and there was weak acceleration having trouble getting up to speed. I had plenty of time to make the turn but the cars weak acceleration caused my family to be in an unsafe condition, we could have been hit. Car vibrations, shuddering, weak acceleration, and a loud noise was detected in the CVT.

My vehicle currently has approx 65,000 miles on it and recently started making loud noise when accelerating above 45 MPH. Took to nissan dealer and informed a new transmission is needed. No recall is listed for this issue despite numerous complaints posted with similar issue on various websites.

The vehicle some time shakes, shudders, noisy and some more... It's transmission issue and that's why worried what is something happen on road during driving???

Jjerky on low speed and sudden hesitation while driving on freeway

2015 nissan rogue CVT has bad hesitation when accelerating from a complete stop. This begins to happen once the vehicle has been driven in stop and go traffic for about a half hr.

After a long period of highway driving in hot weather, the car stopped accelerating past 3000 RPM and immediately began slowing in traffic due to the CVT transmission overheating. I was almost unable to make it up a hill and get off for a gas station to stop.

My car started shaking while in reverse and slow to shift gears while accelerating at about 60k miles I took it into multiple nissan dealerships and they told me there was nothing wrong with my car. I took it in again at 80k miles and they told me that I was on the way to needing a new transmission at 80k! And they had seen lots of other cars like mine but the warranty just lapsed.

I have been bringing my vehicle into the dealership for 4 years complaining of the transmission messing up. ( won't go at red-light, shudders when taking off, weird noises). They always just test drove it said nothing was wrong.

Vehicle was bought new, 77k miles and I experienced sudden shaking, shuddering and I tried to at least get it home but it will not accelerate at all. CVT transmission absolutely and prematurely quit on me! Ridiculous!

My car was in motion while driving on the interstate when I realized my car was losing power while I was trying to accelerate. My car did not come to a complete stop but it dropped from 70 MPH down to 30 MPH gradually. I was able to safely move my car to the side of the road and call for roadside assistance.

CVT transmission jerks in eco mode each time after releasing the gas pedal, also even when not using eco mode the grinding noise coming from transmission when going down the hill even if you're not applying on the brake pedal, also front passenger seat vibrates when in drive mode and holding the brake pedal at the light, the SUV has only 33,500 miles on it.

On the highway traveling 70 miles when I felt the the car wasn't pulling and the RPM went to 6 then back to 2. The vehicle slowed down. Exited the highway, checked fluid level which was low added 1/2 quart and resumed driving.

While driving the all of the vehicle warning lights will flash and the vehicle completely powers down. I have to push on the break, put the car in park, and start it again to get the vehicle to accelerate again.

When driving and the car hits ~35mph, the CVT continuously loses power and begins causing vibrations and shuddering. Car has ~64,000 miles.

Check engine light illuminated at just over 70k miles with p1740 torque converter clutch solenoid inductive signature. The vehicle was taken for repair, and after inspection it was determined that the materials inside the transmission were deteriorating, damaging the bearings and causing fluid leakage and inadequate pressures in the transmission.

Gear shift came off in hand and would only go turning around in driveway gear shift knob came off in hand and would only shift from neutral to drive. Dealer told me was not covered by engine drivetrain warranty because was not an internal part. The car was bought new and had only 37k on it.

86,000 and the CVT transmission need to be replaced/rebuilt. I have spoken with several shops and this CVT transmission on the 2016 nissan rogue is known for having problems and commonly has to be replaced. Cost over $3000

The air conditioning regularly stops working and will blow out warm air. We have taken the vehicle to dealerships and mechanics and they cannot replicate the problem as it requires some period of driving before it will stop working. Sensors and wires have been replaced.

After driving in city traffic all day the rogue would not move as I was heading home for the day. I bought the rogue new in 2015 and in october 2016 this happened. Took to a dealership and work was done.

When the temperature is over 90 degrees and the car has been running for at least 10 minutes the car has acceleration issues. When at a full standstill such as at a stoplight the car will not accelerate quickly and respond to pedal pressure. When the pedal is floored and trying to start again it has a long delay like the transmission is in a high gear or is overheated.

There is a vibration noticeable in the floor, pedals and steering wheel at around 1250 engine RPM whenever the car speed is steady. It corresponds to about 45-50 MPH when driving in eco mode. It happens while cruising at steady speeds on straight or curved roads.

Steering wheel vibrates at speeds 25-55 MPH. Most of the vibration will stop if I drive in the sport mode. Have back to dealer three times, but no luck.

My nissan rogue has a vibration defect, took to wharton auto group in parkersburg w va this is the dealer that I purchased rogue from , don't know if this problem is a safety defect . Dealership says there is no fix. Defect occurs from 10 MPH up ..

My vehicle has a lack of power it won't change gears move slow hard to go up hills shakes

It has a CVT transmission and when you try to accelerate quickly, it box down it does not go every now and then when it tries to change gears it shimmy it gives a humping sensation

Transmission jerks. CVT transmission causing significant issues. Have already changed faulty valve body, mass air flow sensor, and idle control sensor.

I was driving in 90°F weather for over an hour on the freeway, and it felt like my car's power cut out. This caused my vehicle to decelerate to 40mph while on a busy freeway, leading me to fear for my and others' safety. I turned the car off, waited for 15 minutes at the exit, and began moving again, only for the same issue to occur again.

2015 Nissan Rogue-Consumer would like Nissan to replace the faulty transmission for 100% of the cost as is being done with other Nissan owners with the same transmission model even if the consumer is outside of the extended warranty by 8 months but 20,000 miles under the mileage limit that was set by the lawsuit. Transmission shakes between 2,000-2,500 RPM

AWD High Temperature warning message. Asked to stop vehicle. Once the message disappears and proceed to resume travel there's an odd humming sound from tire area as though the 4 wheel drive is engaged on drive pavement.

The CVT Transmission is faulty. When steping on the gas peddle the car sometime does not go. Only 84,000 Miles on the car .

Car was feeling sluggish while driving about 20 to 40 MPH then all the sudden there was no acceleration even though stepping on the gas.

The Nissan Rogue would not accelerate past 40mph on the highway. It was also making a whining sound. The failure of the car to accelerate made it impossible to drive at the appropriate speed limit on the highway.

On monday february 22 2021[xxx] started the rogue and began to back up out of our home driveway ([xxx]). She then stopped and put the rogue into park/shifted into park/p, and checked to make see the back door of the house was locked.

Apparently, according to my mechanic at jamie's tire in xenia ohio, all wheel drive nissans are having problems with the rear differential electrical coupler going bad. This causes it to slip and cause damage to the differential. According to him I am not the first with this problem

Car stops accelerating randomly. Some days it won't go over 60mph while I'm already driving on the thruway. Other days it will drop speed from 70 to 60 and I have no control over acceleration.

Noticed transmission slipping when going into first gear, specifically when taking off from at a complete stop. If in eco mode it is worse. So far only doing it in 1st gear, worried it will give out on highway like I have seen others.

Took my nissan to mechanic and he told me that the transmission is bad and I've just had the car for less than 2 years . I bought it and it had 82,000 and now at 116,000 the transmission is already bad, that is not right at all. I bought this car thinking I wouldn't have nothing but regular maintenance to do in it not a freaking $3000 to $4000 maybe more to put into it.

I unlocked my car to get in and then when I tried to start it, it made this clicking sound. The battery turned on so I kept trying to push on the brakes and then press the start button and it still wouldn't work. I did this about 6-9 times and then finally the car turned on.

Was driving for about an hour and while going 65 on the highway with the cruise control on the RPM rose from 2 to 4 but the car was not picking up speed or accelerating. I disengaged cruise control and the car was not responding to me pressing the gas, while being able to coast to the exit I had to go up a small hill and was a struggle. RPM not going over 2 and just sluggish trying to climb.

My nissan rogue's transmission starting slipping around 70,000 while accelerating from 20 -30 mile per hour

When I started my car to leave work it started fine. I put it in reverse but there was a delay of a few seconds. Then another delay to go into drive.

Yesterday I came from birmingham and I was going 70 MPH my SUV is whinnying I couldn't go pass 70 I floored it still nothing speed I had to spot on the side of the road to start driving to pick up speed I'm at 113,000

Vehicle loses power. This is random but the esp light is always on when it happens. This problem is worse on inclines.

I purchased this vehicle, driving on the highway the transmission blew out, car would not accelerate pass 40 miles an hour, only had the vehicle for 7 days!!

My car started to rev to over 4000 rpms at 30 MPH it was like it was stock in low for over 3 miles I had to pull over stop the car and try it again I was unable to get it to run normal I took it right to nissan service they checked the car out told me nothing was wrong with it.

The car revs up to 5 rpms at 60mph like its stuck in neutral. Need to take the foot off the gas get down to 50mph and was able to get it back up to 65mph. I did this in rush hour traffic.
