The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving 25-30 MPH, the hood flew open and crashed into the windshield, cracking the windshield. There was no injury sustained. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact closed the hood manually. The contact then drove to his residence. The vehicle was taken to Safelite where the windshield was replaced. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V420000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). However, the parts to do the recall repair were not yet available. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 114,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the sunroof glass fractured without impact. The contact stated that there was no injury sustained. The sunroof shade was closed, and broken glass did not penetrate the vehicle interior. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired. Driver side sun visor has broken and can’t be stowed. Visor now hangs down and blocks at least 50% of the drivers view to the front. Visor can be moved to the left, up against the side window, but then it blocks the view to the left. This is a known issue. It is a safety defect and a recall should be issued.

SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS BROKE. HAD THE CAR 2 YEARS. BARELY EVER PULLED IT DOWN, ONLY WHEN THERE WAS A LOT OF SUN IN MY EYES AND I COULDN'T SEE. FOUND OUT ON LINE THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON 2014 MODELS. PEOPLE KEEP HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEM BREAKING, UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE IS NO RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE SUNROOF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUNROOF EXPLODED WITHOUT IMPACT. ADDITIONALLY, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT WAS OCCUPIED WITH THE SEAT BELT BUCKLED HOWEVER, THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTRACT CALLED HER INSURANCE COMPANY TO HAVE THE SUN ROOF REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED GERALD NISSAN OF NAPERVILLE LOCATED AT 1575 W OGDEN AVE, NAPERVILLE, IL 60540, (630) 355-3337, AND MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000.
THE VISOR DOES NOT STAND FLUSH WITH THE ROOF, IT DROPS DOWN INTO THE DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT. THEY WILL OFTEN FALL COMPLETELY DOWN, MAKING IT A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE DRIVER.
THE SUNVISORS ( BOTH SIDES) MECHANISM THAT HOLDS THEM IN POSITION WILL BREAK FROM STANDARD NORMAL USE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE SUNVISORS WILL NOT STAY IN THE POSITION THAT THE OPERATOR PUTS THE SUNVISORS IN AND TEND TO BE FLOPPY. THIS MAKES A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE THE SUNVISORS MAY FALL DOWN WHEN NOT INTENDED OR NOT STAY IN POSITION TO NEEDED TO BLOCK SUN GLARE. THE SUNVISORS MAY ALSO HANG LOWER IN THE STOWED POSITION CREATING AND EDGE A PERSON COULD HIT THEIR HEAD ON ON AND ABRUPTL STOP. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS STOPPED OR IN MOTION, BUT BECOMES WORSE IN ROUGH ROAD CONDITIONS. THE CAUSE IS DUE TO THE INTERNAL PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE SPRING CLIP ON THE INSIDE ON THE VISOR. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS IN ONLINE FORUMS AND EVEN YOUTUBE VIDEOS SHOWING DIY FIXES. OEM REPLACEMENT PART IS ANOUT $150. PICTURES ATTACHED SHOW BOTH SUNVISORS. DRIVERS SIDE IS OPERATING NORMAL, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR IS SHOWN IN THE POSITIONS THAT IT CAN STOP AT. NOTICE INTHE STOWED POSITION PASSENGER VISOR HANGS LOW. AND IN THE DOWN POSITION IT WILL NOT STAY ALL THE WAY OUT. THEY WILL EVENTUALLY DEGRADE UNTIL THEY JUST HANG DOWN LOOSELY AND NOT MAINTAIN ANY POSITION.

THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS DEFECTIVE, LEADING TO IMPAIRED VISIBILITY DURING DRIVING. THE VISOR SOMETIMES FALLS TO A VERTICAL POSITION UNDER GRAVITY ONLY. THIS OBSTRUCTS FORWARD VISION AND ALSO OBSTRUCTS LINE OF SIGHT TO THE REARVIEW MIRROR. AT OTHER TIMES, THE VISOR PARTIALLY SAGS, CREATING A CONDITION WHERE THE FRONT EDGE OF THE VISOR IS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE DRIVER'S FACE. IT'S FORESEEABLE THAT A CONDITION COULD OCCUR WHERE THE VISOR COULD CAUSE INJURY BY CONTACT WITH THE DRIVER'S FACE DURING SUDDEN DECELERATION. THERE ARE NO POSITIONS THAT THE VISOR CAN BE PUT IN THAT DO NOT OBSTRUCT THE DRIVER'S VISION.
WE WERE DRIVING OUT OF TOWN ON VACATION WHEN OUR SUNROOF EXPLODED OUT OF NO WHERE. IT WAS ABOUT 9:30 IN THE MORNING ON FRIDAY JULY 19TH. WE WERE HEADING EAST BOUND ON THE 10 FREEWAY IT WAS ABOUT 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE WITH NO OTHER CARS AROUND. THE NOISE WAS SO LOUD IT SCARED EVERYONE IN THE CAR. WE HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN FOR HELP AND THEY HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNWILLING TO HELP US AT ALL. THEY BASICALLY SAID TO BAD IT'S YOUR PROBLEM NOT OURS.

WHEN DOING A WEB SEARCH, I SEE THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD TO NOT HAVE A FUNCTIONING SUN VISOR BUT ALSO TO HAVE IT BLOCKING THE DRIVERS VIEW OF THE WINDSHIELD AND ROAD
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT WENT THROUGH THE SUNROOF. GLASS FELL DOWN ONTO MY WIFE AND 2 KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. THERE WERE NO ROCKS IN FRONT OF ME FOR DEBRIS TO COME BACK. THE WHOLE THING SHATTERED. IT DIDN'T HAVE A CRACK OR SPIDER. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS OTHER ISSUES LIKE THIS ON THE INTERNET AND CONSUMER REPORTS RECENTLY WROTE AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS. NISSAN WAS IN THE TOP 3 HAVING THIS ISSUE. I WENT TO MY DEALER AND HE THOUGHT WE WERE CRAZY AND ASSUMED WE CAUSED THIS DAMAGE AND TRIED TO EXPLAIN THEIR WERE RELATED ARTICLES ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUES AS MY EXPERIENCE. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND COULD'VE BEEN DANGEROUS IF THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND US BECAUSE, WE HAD TO SLAM ON OUR BRAKES. I ALSO PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT.
AFTER OWNING MY 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM FOR A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AND 37000 MILES (CONVENIENTLY JUST OUT OF THE FACTORY WARRANTY PERIOD), THE SUN VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BECAME INOPERABLE AND, WHAT I CONSIDERED TO BE, A SAFETY HAZZARD. THE INSIDE PORTION OF THE VISOR ITSELF WAS OBVIOUSLY POORLY ENGINEERED AND LOOSENED/CRACKED INSIDE THE VISOR WHICH HOLDS IT SECURE TO THE VISOR ARM. THE VISOR WOULD NOT REMAIN IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION, OUT OF THE FIELD OF VISION WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS CAUGHT IN A STATE OF LIMBO IN BETWEEN BEING ALL THE WAY DOWN, AND BEING ALL THE WAY UP. AS A TEMPORARY FIX, I HAD IT SECURED WITH VELCRO, BUT THIS WOULD COME LOOSE SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING AND OBSTRUCT MY VISION. WITHIN A MONTH OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE VISOR BREAKING, THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR BROKE AS WELL, IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT. I SECURED BOTH VISORS IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION WITH BUNGEE CORDS AS THE VELCRO WASN'T SECURE. MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF, ALMOST $400 TOTAL. I CONTACTED NISSAN'S CORPORATE OFFICE TO SEE IF THEY COULD RESOLVE THIS FOR ME SINCE IT HAS BEEN A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG PATHFINDER OWNERS, BUT I WAS GIVEN THE SAME ANSWER. MY CONCERN, THAT NISSAN DOESN'T SHARE, IS HAVING A VEHICLE WITH NO OPERABLE SUN VISORS. WHAT IF I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR BECAUSE I WAS BLINDED BY THE SUN? NISSAN, HOWEVER, DOES NOT THINK THIS IS A LEGITIMATE SAFETY ISSUE FOR ALL OF THEIR CUSTOMERS REGARDING THIS KNOWN QUALITY DEFECT. I GUESS THEY HAVE CALCULATED THAT A WRONGFUL DEATH SETTLEMENT OR TWO IS LESS EXPENSIVE THAN DOING THE RIGHT THING AND REPLACING A COUPLE THOUSAND (OR POSSIBLY A COUPLE HUNDRED THOUSAND) VISORS.
BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SIDE SUN-VISORS WILL NOT STAY UP AGAINST THE CEILING, OR AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD, AND DROP DOWN INTO MY LINE OF SIGHT, WHICH MAKES IT A HAZARD WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE IT WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE. MYSELF AND PASSENGERS ARE CONSTANTLY HITTING OUR HEADS ON THEM. IT OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW WHILE DRIVING EVEN WHEN MY SEAT IS ALL THE WAY DOWN. NISSAN YOU HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART AND THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT MAKES DRIVING HAZARDOUS.
THE SUN VISORS ON BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT STAY UP WHILE DRIVING THE PLASTIC SUPPORTS ON BOTH SIDES HAVE CRACKED AND WILL NOT STAY IN THE PROPER POSITION. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD AS IF THE DO NOT STAY UP IT BLOCKS THE VISIBILITY AND ABILITY TO DRIVE SAFELY. I HAVE HAD TO REMOVE IT AS I DO NOT WANT TO HOLD IT UP WHILE DRIVING.
THE SUN VISORS ON THE PATHFINDERS BREAK EASILY AND HANG IN THE DRIVER SIGHT. THIS CAUSES A MAJOR DISTRACTION. NISSAN WILL REPLACE THE BROKEN PART FOR $100 AND UP. ONLINE, THERE ARE DOZENS OF VIDEOS SHOWING CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS CHEAP PART BUT WILL NOT CORRECT.

WE HAVE HIT OUR HEADS NUMEROUS TIMES AND OTHER PASSENGERS AS WELL. THEN, JUST 3 WEEKS AGO THE NEWLY INSTALLED DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR STARTED COMING DOWN. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING AND PAINFUL WHEN COLLIDING WITH THE BROKEN SUN VISOR. NISSAN SHOULD GIVE RECALL ON THEIR 2014 PATHFINDER SUN VISORS. DURING DRIVING THE VISOR HANGS HALFWAY DOWN WHICH OBSTRUCTS THE DRIVING VIEW AND ALSO REDUCES DEPTH OF FIELD VISION FOR BRAKING PURPOSES.
AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (NEW IN 2014) THE VISORS BEGAN MAKING POPPING NOISES WHEN LOWERED AND WOULD NOT STAY IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME AND NOW THEY WILL NOT STAY UP AT ALL. THEY ARE OBSTRUCTING MY VISION WHILE DRIVING.
THE SUN VISOR IS TOO BIG AND HEAVY TO STAY FIRM ALL THE WAY UP, ONLY1 INCH AND HALF ITS SUPPORT ALL THE VISOR SO THATS ITS TOO SMALL FOR THAT HEAVIEST.

WE BOUGHT THE 2014 PATHFINDER USED IN MARCH 2017 WITH APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES ON IT. BOTH VISORS CLICKED WHEN PUTTING THEM BACK UP AND WOULD NOT STAY IN THE FULL UP POSITION. IN MARCH 2018, THE DRIVER'S VISOR FELL AND WILL NOT STAY IN EITHER THE FULL UP OR FULL DOWN POSITION, THUS OBSTRUCTING THE DRIVER'S VISION. THE BROKEN PLASTIC IS VISIBLE INSIDE THE FABRIC OF THE VISOR. I HAD TO PIN IT TO THE ROOF TO ENSURE SAFE DRIVING. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO MISUSE, BUT NOW I SEE THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT. I DON'T SEE THAT NISSAN HAS PROVIDED FREE REPAIRS, HOWEVER. SINCE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT, IT SHOULD BE A RECALL AND THE VISORS REPLACED FREE TO CUSTOMERS.
VISORS DO NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. BECOME LOOSE AND FALL WHILE DRIVING CAUSING VISUAL IMPAIRMENT TO THE DRIVER.

DRIVER SUNVISOR MANUFACTURED WITH BRITTLE PLASTIC FRAME BREAKS CAUSING THE SUNVISOR TO SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING DROP DOWN AND OBSTRUCT THE DRIVERS VIEW OF THE ROADWAY AHEAD. COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS LEADING TO POSSIBLE INJURY OR FATALITY. THOUSANDS HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. VERY COMMON DEFECT ON THE ABOVE YEAR VEHICLES. OURS HAS HAD TO BE DUCT TAPED TO THE HEADLINER TO KEEP IT OUT OF OUR VISION.
I EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE SUN VISORS WHERE THEY WOULD NO LONGER STAY UP. FROM THE DRIVER SIDE THIS OBSTRUCTS THE VISION WHICH CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE. ADDITIONALLY THIS OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE IT WOULD SIGNIFICANT HURT A PASSENGER IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AS WELL AS TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD AND KNOWN ISSUE. I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE BEFORE I GOT IT FIXED AT MY OWN COST. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS ITS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO KEEP THE VISOR OUT OF THE WAY ONCE THE VISOR BREAKS.

THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDSHIELD VISOR HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED ONE TIME BECAUSE OF THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
THE DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY UP AND SEVERELY HINDERS FORWARD VISIBILITY. THE HINGE MECHANISM IS BROKEN. THIS FAILURE HAPPENS 100% OF THE TIME AND IS NOT RELATED TO THE VEHICLE BEING STATIONARY OR MOVING.
