Your transmission is experiencing judder (vibration and shuddering), which a transmission shop diagnosed using diagnostic code P17F0. You've already replaced the motor mount and air intake, but the transmission issue persists. The dealership declined to help within the first 12 days of purchase. A full transmission inspection or repair will likely be needed to resolve the juddering problem.

Your engine makes an extremely loud noise when you press the gas pedal, similar to a disconnected exhaust pipe, and the vehicle struggles to accelerate normally. The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that soon after starting the vehicle, the engine started to overheat with the temperature gauge indicating that the engine was hot(H). The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated, and the vehicle started losing motive power. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

The catalytic converter bank one has been replaced twice within a year on this vehicle and now for the year is out it needs to be replaced a third time. I do not know if there is a manufacturing issue with that but I don’t have another $3000 to replace this. The catalytic converter bank one only stays good for less than six months, but the warranty runs out after the three month period. I am not sure around the month, but I do believe it first started happening December of last year. I can get the paperwork from my mechanic.

Overheating, Burning Smell, Shuddering, Transmission Failure. The Safety concerns are that the vehicle will shut off/stall involuntarily The Safety Problem has been confirmed by a dealer. The Vehicle hasn’t been inspected by the Manufacture since 2017 by its previous owner. It was a pre-owned vehicle when I purchased it in 2023. I am not able to transport the vehicle to Nissan due to the CVT safety concern. [XXX] The Check Engine Light came on the same day the issue was discovered. My car (2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid) has been stuttering/juddering as it has been described by other users. took to my local mechanic who found the software needed to be updated. he was nice enough to take to the local Nissan dealer (San Leandro) phone (510) 347-3030 who did a software upgrade. since then, the juddering/stuttering is a lot worse and doing things it has not done before. they are saying I need a new transmission which does not sit well with me because the car is worse off from the software upgrade that they performed. it was doing much better prior to that. now I get a couple error messages one of which says the hybrid system is overheated - how could it be overheating soon after starting the car first thing in the morning when it has not been running all night. it never did this before. I also get an I-key system error which never popped up before either. in addition, the car has stopped in the middle of the road while street driving which can be a dangerous event! i have called Nissan consumer affairs and they were pretty useless. all they could do is place a dealership complaint. please help.

Car shudders when accelerating. Have had 3 transmission since 2015 . First time, 2017 car died in a intersection out of town. Took to dealer, They replaced it. Second time, in 2018 car didn't start in driveway. Told it was the transmission. Transmission replaced again. For the last 3 months, car shudders when accelerating and while ascending a steep hill, the engine seemed to work very hard to keep the car running. Wasn't sure if car would make it to the top. Cars were behind me so it was unnerving. Was told today that we again, need a new transmission.

The contact stated that the check engine warning light would illuminate, and the engine would start to vibrate, causing the vehicle to become unstable while turning. The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving up a hill during icy road conditions at approximately 10 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. As a result, the vehicle slid backwards down the hill and crashed into a brick mailbox. The catalytic converter warning light was illuminated prior to the failure however the part was on back order. The front air bags failed to deploy and the unknown air bag that did deploy trapped her in the vehicle causing it to need to be cut in order to release the contact. The failure had occurred on several occasion. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it remained pending an investigation from Nissan. The contact received NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V774000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Hybrid Propulsion System) back in 2021 however parts had not been available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no remedy for the recall repair. The contact was concerned that it will take 3 months for Nissan to conclude their investigation with the vehicle failure and that in the meantime she was left with no transportation. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V774000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Hybrid Propulsion System) however, shortly after the repair, the vehicle would stall right after start-up. The contact stated that the failure occurred while driving or while the vehicle was idle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they were not obligated to repair any additional damages during the recall repair. The contact was informed that the vehicle had no extended warranty service plan. The approximate failure mileage was 175,000.

This vehicle stops running while driving causing life threatening situations, Nissan is fully aware of the CVT Transmission issues and refuses to cover the repair of this CVT Transmission, this unexpectable, they have known about this problem since 2013, continued to sale and manufacture the vehicle, this is a terrible business practice and should be stopped, these consumers buy these vehicles expecting to be able to keep their families safe. We keep up on all our vehicles maintenance and repairs. I am sure if the CEO or the head of the NTSB had family in a fatal accident related to Nissans refusal to recall this CVT Transmission on all vehicles especially this year and make, then we would not have an issue getting help with this situation. Does someone have to die before a recall is forced? This issue started on 8/6/21 and has continued to stop running while we are driving it, we have parked this vehicle at the nissan dealership to prevent a fatality, until this issue is resolved, we owe money on this vehicle and now nissan is saying its over $10,000.00 to repair! This is madness. Protecting the company instead of the consumer has got to stop!

WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2017. WE RECEIVED A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH IF YOU WILL. WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF THE PURCHASE WE NOTICED A TRANSMISSION ISSUE--JERKING JARRING HARD TO SHIFT ETC. WE PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH COVERED EVERYTHING BUMPER TO BUMPER FOR WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS 100k MILES. TURNS OUT IT WAS SOME RIDICULOUS NUMBER 88k. ANYWAY--WE CONTINUED TO COMPLAIN TOT HE SERVICE CENTER ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION AND EVERY TIME WE WERE TOLD THERE WERE NO ISSUES. WELL WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE AS WE HAVE DONE SINCE DAY ONE AND TOLD THEM AGAIN ABOUT THE TRANSMISSIO. THIS TIME (WE WERE OUT OF WARRANTY) THEY CODED IT FOR GUESS WHAT? THE TRANSMISSION WITH A WHOPPING PRICE TAG OF $8k. I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER TRYING TO GET RESOLVE. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS--I CANT MERGE INTO TRAFFIC BC IT IS TOO SLUGGISH IT STALLS OUT AND WILL NOT SHIFT AT A LOW SPEED---AND TO COMPLICATE MATTERS WORSE-- THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT NISSAN JUST SETTLED IN THE FALL FOR OVER $277mm FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES---WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE SUIT. i REALLY NEED SOME HELP AS NO ONE IS TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY.

ISSUE WITH THE CVT FOR NISSAN PATHFINDER. HAVE SEEN LOT OF COMPLAINTS AROUND THE TRANSMISSION FOR PATHFINDERS (2013 AND 2014 MODELS). NISSAN DOESN'T ACCEPT THE ISSUE AND IS CHARGING US PAY 5000$ FOR REPAIRS. CURRENTLY HAVE MILEAGE OF 69500 AND JUST PASSED THE WARRANT (BY 3 MONTHS). NISSAN DOESNT ACCEPT FOR ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION STUTTERS AND STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHICH IS QUITE DANGEROUS.

I HAVE A 2014 PATHFINDER, IT STARTED DISCHARGING MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAILPIPE. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. HE EXPLANED, THAT THE OIL RINGS ARE BAD AND OIL IS LEAKING IN THE ENGINE AND THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS A NEW ENGINE ASAP. MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 83,000 MILES. MY MECHANIC SAID I COULD TAKE THE ISSUE UP WITH NISSAN DIRECTLY AND MAYBE THEY WOULD HELP OUT BECAUSE THESE CARS ARE KNOWN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I KEPT UP WITH MY MAINTENANCE. I'M ABSOLUTELY DISAPPOINTED AND UPSET WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS TO BE A KNOWN MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS AWARE WITH AND NEEDS TO ADDRESS.

2014 PATHFINDER STARTED EMITTING LOTS OF WHITE SMOKE FROM TAILPIPE ALMOST OUT OF NOWHERE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. ASKED FOR A BETTER EXPLANATION, AND THEY SAID THAT FLUIDS ARE GETTING INTO THE CYLINDERS AND THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS A NEW ENGINE. VERY SHORT, WOULD NOT EXPLAIN ANY FURTHER. THE CAR IS ABOUT 5 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT UNDER THE WARRANTY MILEAGE. THEY SAID I COULD TAKE THE ISSUE UP WITH NISSAN DIRECTLY AND MAYBE THEY WOULD HELP OUT. I KEPT UP WITH MY OIL CHANGES, KEPT FLUIDS TOPPED OFF. I'M COMPLETELY BESIDES MYSELF WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS TO BE A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. I WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT AND NEITHER THE DRIVER OR PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE SIDE AIRBAGS DID. THE VEHICLE WENT HEAD FIRST INTO THE DITCH AND THEN FLIPPED OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AFTER I FIRST BOUGHT IT AND SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED." OBVIOUSLY NOT. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY EITHER. MY PATHFINDER IS A TOTAL LOSS. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALSO HAD MULTIPLE OTHER ISSUES INCLUDING THE ENGINE COILS, TRANSMISSION COMPUTER AND FINALLY THE WHOLE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED. WE HAVE A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL, WITH 3551 MILES ON IT. WE PURCHASED IT USED ON 8-6-2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 2240 MILES ON IT, WE ARE THE SECOND OWNER. ON 8-20-2014, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCESS AN INTERSTATE FROM AN ON-RAMP WE EXPERIENCED A SHUTTER AND STRONG SHAKING OF OUR 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL, AT THAT TIME IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 3336 MILES ON IT. WE WERE FORCED TO PULL OVER, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT TO CONTINUE ON THE INTERSTATE BUT DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANOTHER INCIDENT THAT DAY. THE FOLLOWING SIX DAYS THE CAR BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING BUT IT WOULD USUALLY BE SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. I DID RESEARCH ON THE TRANSMISSION AND FOUND THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS RIFE WITH PROBLEMS. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP (NOT WHERE WE PURCHASED IT) AND THEY RAN A DYNAMOMETER DIAGNOSTICS ON THE CAR AND SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. AS WE WERE DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE THE TECH MENTIONED THAT THE RECORDS SHOWED THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE, AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES. ALSO, I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP, WHO IS GOING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, THAT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET THROUGH TO THE NISSAN "CVT HOTLINE" TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND ARRANGE FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL BE REPLACED BUT THAT NISSAN IS THE HOLD UP. IT IS EXTREMELY UNFORTUNATE THAT A CAR MANUFACTURING COMPANY CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS AND FORCE CUSTOMER TO WAIT FOR A RESOLUTION WHEN THEY KNOW (AND HAVE KNOWN FOR YEARS) THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNTIL IT REACHED 40 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
