2016 Kia Soul Electrical Problems

When the steering wheel tilt is adjusted while driving, the vehicle experiences a complete electrical shutdown — dashboard goes black and the engine may shut off. Electrical power may return when the steering wheel position is changed again.

I was driving in the carpool line to Anaheim with my daughter, the car starts pulling and make a noise in the front part and start loosing speed, from 75 miles per hour to 40 miles per hours in 2 minutes. I drove to the safety zone but in high risk to a crash. All the sensor lights on in the front part.

While driving my 2016 Kia Soul Plus on the highway, smoke began coming from the rear of the vehicle. Within seconds, flames were visible. Other drivers flagged me down, and I was able to pull over.

Within the first year of purchase, vehicle was emitting large amounts of smoke from tailpipe while going uphill while accelerating. The smoke would completely envelope the car behind. Friendly Kia (now Ken Ganley Kia) of New Port Richey, Florida, would not repair because "they could not reproduce the event in their shop".

Catalytic Converter kept getting hot, was at dealership for a recall on engine in May 2022, light kept coming on and off.

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2012-2016 Kia Soul vehicles equipped with 1.6L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engines. High exhaust gas temperatures may damage the catalytic converter, possibly resulting in abnormal engine combustion and damage to one or more of the engine's pistons and possible piston connecting rod failure.

The rotating contactor switch for the heat/air conditioning fan on the dashboard appears to get very hot on the internal side. This resulted in discoloration of the plugs on the back side of the control panel, and melting of the contactor housing within the control box.

For a week or two when I turned the heated seat on I would often feel a very intense heat from the seat back when it started up for a period of time. I had just recently had a back injury so I thought perhaps my back was being overly sensitive.

When switching from AC to heat, moisture starts spraying from vents, rapidly dripping on floor and completely fogging up windows causing zero visibility. I was forced to pull off roadway for fear of a collision. It then takes at least ten minutes for the moisture to stop and the windows to clear.

Upon parking my car I noticed the engine was on fire. Smoke and flames were coming from up under the hood. The car was declared a total loss by my insurance company and the fire was deemed electrical in nature.

When I press the gas the voltage is high and amplifier my heart feels as if its going to burst my kids nose bleed and they get sick when air is on the smell is bad in cruise control around certain vehicles is speeds up on its on...I've noticed altered parts and the insurance info is altered my boyfriend [xxx] bought car 11/2019 from kia of greer only one owner the mileage on papers is wrong and so it is online...I hear someone in and out car at nights boyfriend said leave it alone missing id social birthcertifcates oit dash when running out to see who was at car door was left opened the center of my head burns when driving the vehicle became dizzy 1/2019 almost feel asleep the thing is the vehicle is in his name not mine but insurance has his disabled brother down as primary driver my drivers record is wrong my mother accidents or on mine her phone and breached old email was on the account me and kids are victims of foreign organized crimes...

I was getting ready to merge onto the interstate when I heard noise coming from the engine compartment. When I got onto the interstate the car would not accelerate, so I pulled over to the shoulder, and the engine died. Smoke was coming from under the hood, and two men in two vehicles stopped and opened the hood and flames were coming out from under the hood.

Car was in good condition and well maintained according to manufacturer's service schedule. It was last serviced on 7/31/18 when it passed nys inspection. The owner was informed on 9/18/18 @ 7:03 pm by daughter that car started making a strange sound on 9/17/18.

Driving this car high speeds (freeway) for longer periods of time (30 minutes or more per day) for more than 3 consecutive days affects my overall health and ability to drive the car.

I hit the gas to try to get over to the right lane so that I could exit the freeway and nothing was happening with the RPM it would not go over 2 and I thought I was going to stall on the freeway.

While driving the car in a shopping mall parking lot the vehicle stopped running. The entire electrical system of the vehicle shut down. No electric power in the vehicle would work.

I can not gain speed. The dealership says it’s the catalytic converter and there is an active recall for this on Kia souls. They previously did recall work to my car but now the catalytic converters not showing as a recall

The Instrument Cluster, the Speedometer and "NOW" the Odometer are not working--absolutely dead. "NOW" is in caps because to my surprise I noticed just recently that the Odometer is not working. In April 2021, after several weeks of waiting for the repairs to be finished, a Kia dealer, PEAK KIA in Colorado replaced the Instrument Cluster because of the faulty Speedometer.

Inhibitor Switch has to be replaced. 2017 vehicles had a recall, dealership wants 747.00 to fix same when a recall for same a year later?

The battery on this vehicle is absolutely worthless. If tales 8 hours to charge and on a full charge it will get 37 miles. The dealership refuses to replace it and the I owe over 10k on the vehicle.

Kia is refusing to repair a 2016 Soul subject to NHTSA recall No.

Bought car in March 2023, two days after purchasing the light came on with code 0456. Which is a small evap leak. Got multiple fixes with various mechanics including dealer.

Kia issued a safety recall for battery (thus is an all electric Sol) and we dropped it to the dealer for repair. Since then Kia has replaced the battery and updated software several times with no results. We continue to receive a battery warning and unable to charge the car.

The check engine light came on a day after I bought the car and never went off it read for several code’s including a catalytic converter fuel cap timing solenoid all which I replaced and the light still was on after oil changes it was discovered there is a low oil condition and the engine needed to be replaced and a few months later the car stopped running and it needs a new engine the dealership knowingly sold that vehicle to me in that condition and they won’t even fix it.

Ive gotten 3-4 tuneups every year for the past 4 years.

January 2021 starting burning engine oil. Have been to the kia dealership numerous times complaining. Negative results regarding the situation.

The car was recalled in 4/2019 for a repair. I purchased the car 8/2020. The repair indicated catalytic converter assessment to ensure that the engine did not need to be replaced.

CARMAX sold a recalled vehicle in 2019 in 2020. KIA has still improperly repaired the vehicle the car is still doing the exactly same thing it was doing. That lead to the repair.

Car cuts off when idling. I took it to the mechanic several times and they produced the issue once but could not diagnose and would give it back to me at no charge. When it cuts off the RPMs will sometimes stay at 0 even when I start the car again.

my car starting making knocking noises and as im on the interstate my speed was 70 but I was not going 70 and I never had any trouble out of my car

The lights flickered and I lost both head lights. Head light bulbs keep going out randomly. Sometimes both at the same time.

Seems the check engine light comes on and off and when taken to the dealership. They cant find nothing wrong with it. The check engine light can stay on for days and the engine runs ruff.

Check engine light on more than off or so it seems. Engine code p0s0a. Dealer attempts to fix.

First, a couple of weeks ago my check engine light comes on and my engine temperature gauge stops working properly. It starts taking about 15 minutes for my engine temperature gauge to show the engine is warmed up. After about two days the engine light goes off by itself.

I keep having a reassuring issue with my headlights multiple times I have taken the vehicle to the dealer paying to get the issue fixed. Spending countless dollars on this issue for the problem to continue. The kia dealers keep changing parts out and nothing has helped.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BATTERY AND STARTER FUNCTIONED AS DESIGNED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

The uvo system which includes the backup camera has failed. Kia should be required to replace as a safety item at no charge, just like tesla is required to do for their failed screens.

I have a kia soul ev because this is the battery that decreases the number of kilometers per day by day I think the battery has a problem

Headlights flicker during use, especially when using the turn signals.

My car was not starting. I do not drive it everyday and began to think it was the battery. I had it tested at the auto zone and thery said it was great no problems.
