Your vehicle is subject to an open safety recall because sand left over from the manufacturing process may be inside your engine. This contamination could potentially cause your engine to fail suddenly, catch fire, or stop working while you're driving. The recall has been active since November 2025, but the manufacturer says replacement parts aren't currently available, so the problem can't be fixed yet.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (plug-in hybrid), VIN: 1C4RJYB69RC714841, due to repeated loss of propulsion events while driving, including during highway merging. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has: Shifted into neutral without any driver input and failed to accelerate while merging onto a highway, behaving as though it was stuck in a gear or in a protective failsafe state Most recently, while accelerating onto a highway, the vehicle would not respond to the accelerator pedal, forcing me to pull off the roadway. I had to place the vehicle into Park, wait briefly, and then resume driving in order to restore propulsion. Twice i had to perform this on the on ramp. Very dangerous! These are the most recent incidents that have occurred, but the issue has happened at least half a dozen times before. Only now, more often. While driving in Hybrid mode (on January 17th, 18th with my daughter present; also occurred on Jan 22 (after leaving Jeep dealer and having performed TCM & PCM updates), Jan. 23 & 24) With the hybrid battery depleted (normal operating condition) With no warning lights, alerts, or messages displayed before or during the events The vehicle was taken to an authorized Jeep dealership (Safford Brown in Sterling, VA), where PCM and TCM software updates were completed, and the dealer reported “no issues found.” Despite this, the loss of propulsion issue has continued to occur. This condition presents a serious safety risk, particularly during highway merging and acceleration, where the inability to accelerate could result in a collision. The issue appears to be intermittent and does not consistently trigger fault codes or warning indicators. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue for potential investigation, as it involves unexpected loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Danette Spruston
Reference prior recall 68C/NHTSA 25V-741. Had Jeep serviced for this recall. Was advised the vehicle passed the software update. Noticing that when the vehicle is in Electric mode there is a loss of power when the % range is at the halfway mark. This was a prior issue as well with recall, 73C/NHTSA 25V-576. No point in taking me to a Jeep dealership to review. They will not do anything unless there is a specific software associated with the issue. Wanted to make note that the issue per my personal vehicle does not appear to be resolved. There is no public correspondence as to what Jeep is rectifying with the battery manufacture. Reporting that this continues to be a dangerous issue.
On 11/1/2025 my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe lost propulsion in a middle of a left turn do to a recall that was sent to me 4 days prior. The jeep completely stopped and caused another person to rear end me. The recall has since been fixed but my damages have not yet been fixed. I was in an accident due to this Jeep recall and I now have damage to my vehicle and a ticket from the police for stopping in the middle of an intersection. I opened a case with jeep customer care 2 weeks ago and haven’t since received ANY update. I need assistance because nobody is taking accountability or fixing anything.
Driving on highway( no other cars or overpass in area) and sunroof on 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded. Sounded like a shotgun going off, then loud flapping sound . Fortunately the Sun visor was closed or the shattered glass would have caused serious injury to driver & passengers, and could have resulted in serious or even fatal accident. The noise of the explosion scares you & could cause you to have an accident, especially if the sun viser over the sunroof had not been closed. Caused me to have to get to side of road in a construction area at night, not a safe situation. Reported to dealer next morning, were told Chrysler would have to review to see if covered. This vehicle is less than 1 yr old! No warning and no previous problems with sunroof.
I was changing my right rear tire due to a nail on a slight slope in my driveway and I had a roll away incident. The top of my driveway is a slight slope and then changes to fairly steep. My vehicle rolled off of my jack and jack stand and continued into the street. Fortunately there was no damage other than extreme stress
The entire vehicle failed with a No Start Issue. The vehicle will not wake up, can not jump off. My safety is being stranded without a workable vehicle. No the problem has not been resolved after being towed into service to the dealer twice. The STAR engineers got involved this last time but asked the service center to release the vehicle to me because they could not replicate the issue. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms to indicate a problem with the vehicle/engine/electronic system, the vehicle is just simply dead.
The catalytic converter had to be replaced after 3000 miles. Vehicle was purchased in September and it had to be replaced in December. Had to take vehicle in twice for them to diagnose the problem.
it failed to shift out of low gear while merging onto the highway and the engine revved up to 6000 rpm as a result. I read that this is happening to other owners and the dealerships are unable to locate the problem. This is the first time that this happened to me, but from what I've read it will happen again. I'm afraid that the engine or transmission might blow up injuring me or or another vehicle next to me on the highway. I'm also afraid that if something does fail that it might cause me to lose control of the vehicle. I currently have a call into the dealership, but with what others have stated online, the dealerships have not been helpful in isolating the problem. There was no indication of any type (lamps or messages) that there was a problem.
FCA pushed an involuntary software update to our car on August 6, 2024. It completed about 75% of the update and froze, rendering our display and systems unusable. Our back-up camera only works intermittently as does many of the ADAs safety features. We have no temperature controls or radio either. We have been to the dealer multiple times and they are being told by FCA that the entire unit needs to be replaced. A search of social media (reddit) shows that others may be having the same safety issue. The dealer says they have had four more incidents come into their shop.

While I was driving the panoramic sunroof shattered. The vehicle did not sustain any damage from any foreign object. There was a loud noise like an explosion coming from the top of the vehicle and then I heard a rattling sound. When I opened the sunshade I seen the panoramic glass was shattered. There wasn’t other vehicles or debris around me when this happened.
Second time the ignition module has failed, leaving myself, husband and 3 dogs stranded over an hour from home. Vehicle would not start or recognize the key fob. The vehicle has had to be flatbed towed TWICE in the 5 months of owning it for the same issue
I bought this vehicle 2weeks ago and she drove it Iowa. The next morning when she went to drive it, the battery was totally dead. Technician at Jeep Dealership it’s a software problem and they could take out that chip of the Telematics box is causing battery drain.
