DEFROSTER DOES NOT CLEAR WINDSHIELD, BLOWER WORSENS FOG. AFTER BRIEF USE OF VEHICLE CONDENSATION BUILDS ON PASSENGER SIDE OF WINDSHIELD AND PROHIBITS CLEAR VISION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 1997 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAN IN THE VENTILATION SYSTEM FAILED TO RUN AT A HIGH SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT A BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED WAS NO LONGER MANUFACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
THE BLOWER TO THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT. I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. NOW ITS OUT AGAIN. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DRIVE IN WINTER WITH NO BLOWER TO A HEATER AND DIFFICULT IN SUMMER WITH NO BLOWER TO THE AIR CONDITIONING. A MECHANIC I WENT TO SAID HE HAS SEEN MULTIPLE JEEPS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. HE BELIEVES IT MAY BE THE CABLE WIRES DUE TO THE NEARNESS TO THE ENGINE AND THEY WERE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE HEAT. IS THIS TRUE? HE ALSO THOUGHT JEEP WAS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. IF SO, HOW DO I GET THIS FIXED SO IT WORKS PROPERLY AND NOT GO OUT EVERY YEAR? EVERY ONCE IN A "BLUE MOON" THE BLOWER WILL COME ON FOR A COUPLE SECONDS BUT WILL NOT STAY ON. *TR
WE HAVE OWNED OUR 1999 GRAND CHEROKEE SINCE 1999 - ITS BEEN A GREAT CAR BUT EVERY SINGLE ISSUE LISTED ON THIS WEBSITE HAS BEFALLEN US. CURRENTLY @ 149K MILES WE HAVE NO HEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE DUE TO BLEND DOOR ASSEMBLY, THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OFF ALL THE TIME AND THERE IS NO HEAT IN THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. I AM SHOCKED THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AND THAT TO ME SAYS THERE IS TRULY SOMETHING WRONG. WE ALSO TOOK PART IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT COVERED SOME OF THE EXPENSES WE HAD IN CONTINUALLY REPLACING THE BRAKES - ESPECIALLY THE ROTORS WHICH WARP WITH OUT NOTICE AND CAN DO THAT IF YOU JUST STEP ON THE BRAKES TO HARD! THE BLEND DOORS ON THE DUAL HEATER SYSTEM HAVE FAILED AND THERE IS NO HEAT OR AC TO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. *TR
THE CLIMATE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM HAS FAILED. ONE SIDE BLOWS COLD AIR AND THE OTHER WARM AIR. THE DEFROSTERS ARE INEFFECTIVE, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE WHEN THE WINDSHIELD FOGS UP NOT TO MENTION KEEPING THE WINDSHIELD DEICED IN BAD DRIVING CONDITIONS. CHRYSLER SAYS THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MUST BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE HEATER ASSEMBLY AND FIX THE RECIRCULATION DOOR AND OTHER COMPONENTS. THEY WANT $1200 TO FIX THE HEATER! HVAC DOESN'T CHANGE TEMPERATURE. BLENDER DOORS ARE BROKEN. FOUND OUT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM IN 99-04 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND THEY'VE UPDATED THE PARTS TO REPLACE. PROBLEM IS, LABOR COSTS AROUND $1500 TO FIX THE HVAC. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS AS I CAN'T DRIVE IN THE WINTER WITHOUT HEAT, WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT A DEFROSTER!!! *TR
HEATER A/C FOR 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE... FAILURE TO OPERATE, RIDICULOUS TO REPAIR. MAKES DRIVING IN COLD CLIMATES IMPOSSIBLE, DUE TO WINDOW FOGGING AND ICE BUILDUP. DAIMLER CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL AND REPAIR ALL JEEPS FROM 1999-2004 WHO ARE ALL KNOWN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DISREGARD THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS, WITH REGARDS TO THIS. THIS WAS REPEATED YEAR AFTER YEAR, WITH NO EASY SOLUTION FOR CUSTOMERS TO REPAIR. WE HAVE HAD THIS 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN THE FAMILY FOR YEARS AND THE PAST YEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE BLOWS STRICTLY COLD AIR (IT HAS DUAL AIR CONTROLS) - MY NEPHEW OWNED THE JEEP PRIOR TO OUR PURCHASING IT FROM HIM THIS PAST MONTH. HE SAID THIS HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR A WHILE AND NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. I HAVE A 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND I NOTICED THAT MY A/C BLOWS MILDLY COLD AIR. I RECHARGED IT THINKING THAT IT NEEDED FREON BUT THAT WASN'T THE CASE. THIS WINTER I NOTICED THAT MY HEAT WAS NOT AS HOT AS IT SHOULD BE. NEW ENGLAND WINTERS CAN GET INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS AND THE LACK OF HEAT CAN MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD, MAKING VISIBILITY VERY POOR. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE WEB, I FOUND OUT THAT MY PROBLEM IS ALL TOO COMMON WITH JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS. IT SEEMS THAT JEEPS HAVE FAULTY BLEND DOORS MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC AND THEY ALMOST ALL BREAK. THE REPAIR REQUIRES REMOVAL OF MOST OF THE DASHBOARD AND CAN LEAD TO ESTIMATES LEADING ANYWHERE BETWEEN $1,000-$1,800. DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE FAULTY DEVICES AND FAILS TO ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY AND POST A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
I NOTICED THAT MY AIR FLOW THROUGH THE A/C AND HEATER WAS NOT WORKING - NO AIR FLOW. IT SEEMS PERMANENT - NO AIR FLOW. I CAN HEAR THE FAN, BUT NO FLOW OF AIR - NO MATTER WHAT SETTING (DEFROST, FLOOR, FRONT SIDE). WHAT IS WORSE, WHEN MY WINDSHIELD FOGS UP, I HAVE NO VISIBILITY DUE TO NO WINDSHIELD BLOWER FLOW. I HAVE NOT FIXED IT SINCE IT SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM INHERENT WITH THE JEEP DESIGN, AND I BELIEVE JEEP SHOULD FIX IT. *TR
I HAVE A 99 GRAND CHEROKEE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ONE DAY LAST MARCH. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR STARTED TO BLOW OUT COLD AIR AND THE DRIVER SIDE WAS BLOWING OUT COLD. THE TEMPERATURE WAS BOTH ON 80. NOW THIS WINTER. YOU CAN NOT GET THE HEAT TO SWITCH FROM THE FRONT VENTS TO THE FLOOR OR DEFROST. *TR

I CANNOT DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD AND THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO PULLOVER WHILE DRIVING DU TO LOSS OF VISIBILITY. I PERFORMED VARIOUS TEST AND FOUND THAT WHEN TESTING THE AZC THE FAULT CODES I GET ARE 47 = LEFT TEMPERATURE DOOR NOT RESPONDING AND 54 = LEFT TEMPERATURE DOOR TRAVEL TOO LARGE. AFTER REVIEWING SEVERAL SITES AND TALKING WITH A FEW MECHANICS IT SEEMS TO BE THAT THE BLEND DOORS ARE BROKEN. I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MANY FAILURES ABOUT THIS I HAVE READ AND THERE IS NO RESOLUTION. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY HERE IN THE NORTHEAST. I AM ALSO A FIREFIGHTER AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN I AM CALLED TO A FIRE, ACCIDENT WITH SOMEONE TRAPPED, OR SOME OTHER EMERGENCY, I EXPECT MY VEHICLE TO WORK PROPERLY AND AT THE LEAST PROVIDE HEAT TO DEFROST FOR VISIBILITY. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AND WHY IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A SERIOUS FAILURE. IN THESE TIMES OF POOR ECONOMY YOU WOULD EXPECT CORPORATIONS TO TREAT LOYAL JEEP OWNERS WITH CONSIDERATION AND ADDRESS THEIR ISSUES. I WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER AS TO WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED AND WHAT IS REQUIRED TO REPAIR IT. I AM ALSO SICK TO HEAR THAT DEALERS ARE CHARGING OVER $1000 TO FIX A DESIGN FLAW. I HAVE A 1999 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. IT HAS THE SELF DIAGNOSTIC TOOL BUILD INTO THE DUAL ZONE TEMPERATURE CONTROL. I USED THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL TO EVALUATE THE PROBLEMS THAT I WAS HAVING WITH MY HEATING AND COOLING UNIT OF THE CABIN AND GOT NUMEROUS ERROR CODES. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 81,000 MILES CURRENTLY. THE MAJOR ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING IS THAT I CANNOT GET MY UNIT TO BLOW HOT OR COLD AIR INTO THE CABIN ALTHOUGH IT WILL TURN ON. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL DAIMLER CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHARGED ME A PRICE FOR FIXING THIS ISSUE WHICH AT THE TIME I THOUGHT WAS FAIR. THIS LAST DEALERSHIP REPAIR WAS ABOUT 3,000 MILES AGO. AFTER THE REPAIR THE VEHICLES HEATING AND COOLING UNIT OPERATED PROPERLY UNTIL RECENTLY. NOW THE SYSTEM DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY ANYMORE AND WILL TURN ON BUT WILL NOT BLOW OUT ANY AIR AT ALL...EVER. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS EXACT ISSUES AND NEED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AGAIN. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I FOUND A FORUM ON JEEPSUNLIMITED.COM THAT HAS ABOUT 25 PAGES OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. AT THIS TIME I AM IN AGREEMENT THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS RELATED TO THE ORIGINAL DESIGN FROM DAIMLER CHRYSLER COMPANY AND NEEDS TO BE EITHER ADDRESSED AS A RECALL OR AS A LAWSUIT FROM THE PUBLIC THAT HAS BEEN SOLD THESE VEHICLES. THIS REPAIR COST ME OVER $800 LAST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS NOT EVEN SOMETHING THAT COULD BE FIXED DUE TO OTHER ERRORS ON BEHALF OF DAIMLER CHRYSLER'S ORIGINAL DESIGN. I AM INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO SINCE REPAIRS OF $1,000 EVERY 3,000 MILES IS OUT OF THE QUESTION AND I AM SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND WITH OUT HEAT, SNOW FALLING, AND A PREGNANT WIFE! I TOOK IT INTO GET REPAIRED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT FOGGING OR DEFROSTING MY VEHICLES WINDSHIELD AND I WAS UNABLE TO SEE DURING THE WINTER WHEN I WAS DRIVING UP TO COLORADO AND HAD TO STOP EVERY FEW MINUTES TO WIPE OFF THE CONDENSATION. THIS WAS A TERRIFYING EVENT SINCE IT WAS SNOWING ON THE HIGHWAY I WAS TRAVELING ON AND THERE WERE VEHICLES TRYING TO CONTROL THEIR OWN VEHICLES WHICH I COULD NOT SEE. AT ONE POINT WHEN I NEEDED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND WIPE OFF THE CONDENSATION AND UNFREEZE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FROM THE WINDSHIELD I WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE RAILING AND HIT IT, THANKFULLY I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 5 MPH BUT I STILL BANGED UP MY BUMPER A LITTLE BUT AT LEAST I DIDN'T DIE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS OBVIOUSLY DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE SINCE IT HAS NOW GONE OUT AGAIN IN LESS THAN 5,000 MILES. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS NOT RECALLED THE PARTS THAT CAUSE THIS PROBLEM AND ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE FROM THIS DESIGN BEFORE THEY WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL. IT COSTS MORE THAN $800 TO REPAIR THE FIRST TIME AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THIS ISSUE JUST SO THAT I CAN SEE THE CARS THAT ARE ON THE ROAD AND THE LINES TO STAY IN MY LANE. PLEASE HELP! *TR

TOUGH IN THE WINTER! HAD THE PROBLEM WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NOW, 2 YEARS LATER, THEY SAY IT'S THE BLEND DOORS AND MAYBE THE EVAPORATOR UNIT ALSO. THEY QUOTED $1700. TO PULL THE DASH AND REPAIR. THIS IS ON OUR 1999 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH NOW 117,000 MILES. DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH ANOTHER WINTER WITH COLD AIR COMING IN, AND AFRAID THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WILL FAIL. WITH THIS ECONOMY, ALSO DON'T HAVE $1,700. TO PUT INTO THE TRUCK EITHER. I BELIEVE THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM FIRST TIME AROUND. AFTER LEARNING ABOUT THE ON-LINE CHAT ROOMS REGARDING JEEPS , I SEE THAT ABOUT 20% OF ALL GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED AND OVERLAND OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. CHRSYLER SHOULD STEP UP AND FIX THIS! *TR

I RAN INTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A SIMPLE HEATING PROBLEM WITH MY 1999 GRAND CHEROKEE. ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, MY CAR SIMPLY STOPPED BLOWING HOT AIR. AFTER GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND SPENDING NEARLY $600 TO HAVE SOME SORT OF SOLENOID REPLACED, I REALIZE AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE LOT THAT ONLY MY PASSENGER SIDE WILL BLOW HOT AIR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BLEND DOORS, AND WILL LIKELY COST BETWEEN $1,000 AND $1,500 TO FIX. THE REPAIR REQUIRES A COMPLETE DISASSEMBLY OF THE DASH AND STEERING COLUMN (AROUND 10-12 HOURS FOR A FULL REPAIR, ACCORDING TO THE SHOP). I BEGAN TO LOOK AROUND ONLINE TO SEE WHAT ELSE COULD BE DONE. TO MY SURPRISE, NEARLY EVERY JEEP MESSAGE BOARD WAS FLOODED WITH POSTS ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THE ENGINEERING OF THE PART VIRTUALLY ENSURES THAT IT WILL FAIL; THE CALIBRATION PHASE (EVERY 20 OR SO START-UPS) FORCES THE PLASTIC PART TO ITS LIMITS AND EVENTUALLY BREAKS. EVERY DEALERSHIP OR AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT I CONTACTED SAID THAT VIRTUALLY EVERY 1999 AND NEWER GRAND CHEROKEE HAS, OR WILL HAVE, THIS PROBLEM. COLD OUTSIDE AIR BLOWS FROM THE DEFROST VENTS, AND DOES NOT CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD OF FROST OR MOISTURE, OR CAUSES MOISTURE TO RE-FREEZE. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE FAILURE OF THE BLEND DOORS IN THE HEATING SYSTEM. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING AFTER ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO WARM AND THE WINDSHIELD TO CLEAR. THIS IS A RE-OCCURRING PROBLEM, THE DEALERS SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THAT ALL WJ SERIES JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES WITH THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL WILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND WILL COST BETWEEN $1200 AND $1800 TO REPAIR AND THAT THE REPAIR IS NOT PERMANENT, JUST A FIX UNTIL THE PARTS BREAKS AGAIN. MY VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS ANOTHER VEHICLE MANUFACTURED BY THE SAME COMPANY (DAIMLER CHRYSLER), THAT VEHICLE IS A 2002 DODGE RAM, THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER IS 03V078000. ON MY VEHICLE THE CONNECTION FOR THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROLLER IS UNDERSIZED, WITH HEAT FROM THE ELECTRICAL CURRENT THE CONNECTOR LOOSENS AND CAUSES THE BLOWER MOTOR TO CUT OUT, IT ALSO CAUSES MELTING TO THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROLLER ITSELF AND THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. FOR THE MENTIONED RECALL DAIMLER CHRYSLER INSTALLS A WIRING HARNESS OVERLAY, THE SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM IS THE SAME, THEY MAKE A WIRING HARNESS OVERLAY, THE PROBLEM HOWEVER IS THAT THE HEAT FROM THE ELECTRICAL CURRENT DAMAGES THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROLLERS HOUSING AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS, WHICH MEANS THAT THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE CONSEQUENCES TO THIS FAILURE IS THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR BECOMES INOPERABLE AND DURING TIMES WHEN THE DEFROST IS NECESSARY SUCH AS COLD WEATHER, THE BLOWER MOTOR CAN CUT OUT AND REDUCE VISIBILITY. THE DESIGN OF THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY APPEARS TO BE FLAWED. THERE IS A SMALL PLASTIC "CLIP" THAT IS HEAT MELTED TO THE NYLON MOVEMENT ASSEMBLY DURING MANUFACTURING. THIS CLIP RECEIVES A GREAT DEAL OF STRESS DURING WINDOW OPERATION AND IS DOOMED TO FAIL FROM THE BEGINNING. WHEN THE CLIP FAILS, THE WINDOW WILL "UNEXPECTANTLY" DROP INTO THE DOOR OFTEN RESULTING IN BROKEN OR DAMAGED GLASS. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT IF A DRIVER IS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS FAILURE.*AK

THE CAR IS NOT QUITE 3 YEARS OLD AND THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW FAILS TO WORK. THE WINDOW IS NOT USED OFTEN. THE DAIMELER CHRYSLER STATED BECAUSE OF TEH MILEAGE THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR FREE. MY QUESTION TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER WAS WHAT DOES MILEAGE HAVE TO DO WITH A WINDOW WORKING? EITHER THEY WORK OR NOT. I MENTIONED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL TB ON THE POWER WINDOWS WORKING SPORADICALLY.*JB
ALL OF THE WINDOWS IN THIS JEEP HAVE STOPPED WORKING OVER TIME. THE FIRST TIME WAS JAN. 27, 2000 (SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE) RHT FRONT WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AND REGULATOR WAS REPLACED. ON APRIL 28, 2000 THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AND REGULATOR REPLACED. ON OCTOBER 6, 2000 THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AGAIN AND THE REGULATOR WAS REPLACED AGAIN. ON JUNE 26, 2001 THE DRIVER FRONT WINDOW AND THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AND THE REGULATORS WERE REPLACED. FINALLY ON JUNE 4, 2002 THE DRIVERS REAR WINDOW HAS STOPPED WORKING. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE JEEP IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WANTS TO CHARGE TO $217.00 TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR. THE JEEP WAS COVERED ON THE OTHER PREVIOUS INSTANCES. I FEEL THAT THERE IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS IN THIS VEHICLE. I AM AFRAID THAT ONE DAY ALL OF THE WINDOWS WILL FAIL ON IT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THIS VEHICLE IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT OR OTHER INCIDENCE.*AK
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW GLASS HAS UNEXPECTEDLY FALLEN INTO DOOR. WAS ADVISED BY DEALER THAT THIS WAS A RARE OCCURRENCE AND THEY HAVE FIXED ONE SIDE UNDER WARRANTY AND THE OTHER WILL BE REPAIRED NEXT WEEK. BOTH OCCURRENCES OCCURED AT SPEED AND SUDDENLY. WAS ADVISED THAT THE WINDOWS ARE HELD BY PLASTIC CLIPS THAT FAILED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED WITH PROPER FASTENERS FOR AN SUV TYPE VEHICLE. *AK

WHEN IT IS COLD WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES WILL ONLY TOUCH AT THE VERY ENDS SO THEY DON'T CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD AND YOU CAN'T SEE OUT, EVEN WHEN THE WINDSHIELD AND WIPER BALDES ARE COMPLETELY CLEANED. HAS THE WORST RIDE THAN ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER HAD. VEHICLE MAKES HORRIBLE KLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE. SOUNDS LIKE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO FALL ON GROUND. VEHICLE JUMPS INTO GEARS. ON 7/30/99, I HAD STARTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS STANDING BEHIND VEHICLE WHEN IT JUMPED OUT OF PARK TO REVERSE AND PROCEEDED TO THROW ME UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THEN ROLLED OVER MY LEGS.

I BOUGHT TWO JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES IN APRIL OF '99. IN BOTH VEHICLES, THE WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. I CAN'T ROLL-DOWN THE WINDOWS, AND THE PROBLEM CAN'T BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY, BECAUSE THE PARTS ARE ON A NATIONAL BACK-ORDER LIST, SO OTHER JEEP OWNERS MUST BE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS.

(PRIVATE TINTING) THE VIN.# REGISTERS SUPER TINT, AND CONSUMER INQUIRED ABOUT TINT AT TIME OF PURCHASED. CHRYSLER SAYS TINT MEET FMVSS.
SHOWED DISTORTED WINDSHIELD TO DEALER ON 4/8/99, WHO SAID HE WOULD CONTACT CHRYSLER.
THE WIPER BLADES STIFFEN AND LOSE CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD, EXCEPT AT THE ENDS, AT TEMPERATURES BELOW 30 F. THE BLADES WILL NOT EVEN CLEAR WATER FROM THE WINDSHIELD. STOPPING AND CLEANING THE BLADES ONLY WORKS FOR A FEW MINUTES. IN ORDER TO SEE WHERE YOU ARE GOING, YOU MUST LOOK THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IN IDENTICAL WINTER CONDITIONS FOR OVER 20 YEARS WITH SUBARUS AND MY OTHER JEEP AND HAVE ONLY EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM UNDER EXTREME CONDITIONS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT JEEP NEEDS TO ADDRESS. THE DEALER SAYS THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE UNLESS THEY HAVE A TSB. *MJS
