HYUNDAI IS RECALLING 532,633 MY 2006-2007 ACCENT, ENTOURAGE, SONATA, MY 2007 AZERA, ELANTRA AND SANTA FE, MY 2005-2007 TUCSON AND MY 2007-2008 VERACRUZ VEHICLES. THE STOP LAMP SWITCH IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES MAY MALFUNCTION. A MALFUNCTIONING STOP LAMP SWITCH MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED OR MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED. A STOP LAMP SWITCH MALFUNCTION MAY ALSO AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE BRAKE-TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK FEATURE SO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) MALFUNCTION LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, AND IT MAY NOT DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.

SABERSPORT IS RECALLING 16,270 COMBINATION CORNER AND BUMPER LAMP ASSEMBLIES OF VARIOUS PART NUMBERS SOLD FOR USE AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.

Fix: SABERSPORT WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER A FULL REFUND FOR THE NONCOMPLIANT COMBINATION LAMPS. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 11, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SABERSPORT AT 1-909-598-7589.

HYUNDAI-KIA IS RECALLING 4,085 REPLACEMENT HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES SOLD FOR USE ON 2006-2008 SONATA AND AZERA VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ALIGNED PROPERLY AND FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE PHOTOMETRIC REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.

Fix: HYUNDAI-KIA DEALERS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND INSTRUCTED TO RETURN THEIR SUPPLY TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA. NONE OF THE HEADLAMPS WERE SOLD AS RETAIL. AS A RESULT, AN OWNER NOTIFICATION LETTER WILL NOT BE ISSUED.

THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, AGAIN, INFORMED BY DEALER THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO RESEARCH IT THE NEXT TIME I CAME IN. THE PARK LIGHTS WILL NOT ALWAYS SHUT OFF WHEN IN THE AUTO SETTING, SO FAR HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM TO SHUT OFF BY REPEATEDLY TURNING LIGHT SWITCH ON AND OFF. THE ABS/ESC LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY AND WILL USUALLY GO OFF AFTER TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING. NOW, THE TRUNK WILL NOT CLOSE AND THE TRUNK LIGHT IS ON CONTINUALLY AND THE LIGHTS WILL NOT LIGHT WHEN HITTING THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON ON THE FOB, SO I DO NOT KNOW IF THE VEHICLE IS SECURE AND SAFE TO ENTER AT NIGHT. THESE SITUATIONS ALL OCCUR EITHER WHEN PARKING OR IN THE CASE OF THE ABS/ESC WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND STATIONARY.

TAKATA RECALL - IN SEPTEMBER 2014 MY BATTERY WERE GOING DEAD. CHANGED BATTERY AND IT WENT DEAD ALSO. AFTER THE 4TH TIME FOR THE BATTERY TO GO DEAD, NOTICED THE SIDED BEAMS WERE ON. WHEN I HAD THE LIGHTS IN THE AUTO POSITION, WHEN GOING UNDERNEATH A BRIDGE, THE LIGHTS WILL COMES ON AND GOES OFF ACCORDINGLY TO THE LIGHT OUTSIDE. WHEN DAYLIGHT, YOU WILL NOT KNOW KNOWN IF YOUR LIGHTS ARE ON OR OFF. SO THIS WAS PROBLEM WAS THE CAUSE FOR MY BATTERY TO GO DEAD. STARTED NOTICING AT NIGHT WHEN TURNING OFF VEHICLE AFTER USING HEADLIGHTS, THE SIDE BEAMS WILL NOT CUT OFF UNTIL AFTER TRYING 15 TO 20 MINUTES OF TRYING TO TURNING IT OFF. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AT FIRST THEY THOUGHT IT WERE THE SWITCH. AFTER ONE HOUR OF WAITING, FOUND OUT IT WAS NOT THE SWITCH AND THEY HAD PUT THE OLD SWITCH BACK. STATED THAT IT WAS THE JUNCTION BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACE.

MY CAR STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS IN MAY THAT WHEN I LOOK THEM UP, ARE LISTED AS ISSUES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED BY HYUNDAI YET WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI THESE WERE NOT OPEN RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. MY ABS/ESC LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. IF I TURN MY CAR OFF AND RE-START IT THEN THE LIGHT WILL BE GONE, ONLY TO COME ON AGAIN AT SOME POINT WHEN I'M DRIVING. I JUST GOT NEW BRAKES IN JANUARY AND MY BRAKES SEEM TO BE WORKING FINE. THE ONLY TIME I WAS CONCERNED WAS DURING A ROAD TRIP WHEN THE LIGHT WAS OFF, BUT CAME ON WHEN I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES ON THE HIGHWAY. MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AROUND THE SAME TIME THE BRAKE LIGHT STARTED CONSISTENTLY COMING ON. THIS LIGHT DOES NOT GO AWAY. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT I HAVE A BACK BREAK LIGHT THAT IS OUT YET WHEN I TOOK IT TO GET A NEW BULB IT WAS WORKING JUST FINE. THEN THE NEXT DAY WHEN BACKING UP, I COULD SEE MY CAR'S REFLECTION IN A WINDOW AND THAT LIGHT WAS OUT, INDICATING SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL SHORT. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY AND I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR IN THIS AFTERNOON TO SEE WHAT THAT IS. MY CAR IS UP TO DATE ON ALL MAINTENANCE. IN THE LAST 7 MONTHS I HAVE HAD NEW BRAKES, NEW SPARK PLUGS, AND A NEW BATTERY. THE LIGHT BULB FOR THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ON MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA IS BURNED OUT. I WAS ADVISED BY BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND HYUNDAI THAT IT WILL COST $ 85.00 TO REPLACE THE BULB BECAUSE THERE IS NO USER ACCESS TO THE BULB. THE DEALER MUST REMOVE THE ENTIRE BACK SEAT AND REAR DECK TO PERFORM THIS REPLACEMENT. AS I CANNOT AFFORD $ 85.00 AT THIS TIME, MY THIRD BRAKE LIGHT REMAINS INOPERABLE. ON A LATER DATE, WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 35 MPH, THE BRAKES LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 62,166.

SINCE PURCHASE IN 2006, THE CAR HAS GONE THROUGH 4 SETS OF HEADLAMPS. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD AT NIGHT WHEN BOTH HEADLAMPS BURNED AT ONCE. THIS INCIDENT CREATED A HAZARDOUS CONDITION WHERE SHE WAS MOMENTARILY TOTALLY UNABLE TO SEE THE ROAD. A TECHNICIAN CONCLUDED THAT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT DESIGN AN ACCESS PORT, THEY WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE REAR DECK IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE LIGHT BULB. HE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 40,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER ON MY 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA REGARDING THE STOP LAMP SWITCH. I KNEW I HAD THIS PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN ON JUNE 24, 2009, I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME APPROXIMATELY $275.00 TO REPAIR. I CANNOT AFFORD SUCH REPAIR. THEN THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPT. CAME AND OFFERED TO REPAIR IT FOR LESS, BUT THAT HE WOULD CALL ME LATER WITH A QUOTE. I NEVER RECEIVED SUCH A CALL. TODAY, I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO SERVICE DEPT. AT 7:00 IN THE MORNING AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE UNTIL ABOUT 7:00 IN THE EVENING TO REPAIR, WHEN I TOLD THEM I COULD NOT BE WITHOUT A CAR THAT LONG, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD TO SEE IF EVEN MY CAR QUALIFIED FOR THIS RECALL. THE PERSON CAME BACK TO SAY THAT MY CAR DID NOT. I WOULD LIKE A RESPONSE TO THIS REQUEST. THE WOMAN TAKING DOWN MY INFORMATION DID NOT EVEN LISTEN TO THE OTHER THINGS I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT, SUCH AS A RUBBER (DO NOT KNOW CORRECT NAME) FELL OFF FROM THE SUNROOF AND OTHER ITEMS. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF HEADLIGHT ISSUES. VEHICLE FROM FACTORY WAS BLINDING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DEALER ADJUSTED HEADLIGHTS SO LOW THAT THEY DID NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD FOR ANY REASONABLE DISTANCE. RETURN TRIP TO DEALER RESULTED IN HEADLIGHTS THAT DID AN EFFECTIVE JOB OF LIGHTING THE TREES ABOVE. THIRD TRIP TO DEALER HAS RESULTED IN HEADLIGHTS THAT DO NOT PROPERLY LIGHT THE ROAD FOR ANY DISTANCE. I HAVE ADJUSTED THEM ACCORDING TO THE PROCEDURE IN THE SERVICE MANUAL, AND THEY PERFORM SIMILARLY TO WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME FROM THE FACTORY. THEY AGAIN BLIND ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO THE POINT THAT I AM AGAIN BEING "FLASHED" BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE VERIFIED THAT THE LIGHTS ARE VERY BRIGHT TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BY DRIVING TOWARDS THE SONATA IN ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE ROAD WHILE ANOTHER PERSON IS DRIVING THE SONATA. I HAVE RECEIVED CONCURRENCE THAT OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS CONDITION VIA AN INTERNET NEWSGROUP. THE DEALER ALSO STATES THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS ON THIS ISSUE, AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE, AS THEY ARE "THE NEW EUROPEAN STYLE HEADLIGHTS, AND THEY ARE JUST BRIGHTER". *NM
