My car is only at 46000 miles.SinceI'm purchase from dealer it has given me the same issues of RPMs shooting up &speedometer going out of control the car wont go past 20mph & jerks back & forth, tyrning off while driving & has had a b"bad" drive since purchase. I dont know the issue and its never been fixed by dealer even though i took it in a few times for these issues. it now foing it again. my life is in danger with this care since purchase & hyundai shouldve replaced my car or engine but they do not care. this car is a lemon. and now the car can go on fire parked or driving? what can be done..on the nextvpart of complaint im putting down ladt week sice this is the newest incident of the desc.
The piston rings do not seal leading to increased oil consumption and very low oil. My safety was put at risk because when I pulled out into traffic that was going at a high speed I could not accelerate. There was no warning or indication that this was going on prior to this incident. Yes this has been confirmed by a Hyundai dealership and the component was inspected. There was no warning sign before this incident.
While driving over the last month, the car shuts off with no warning. There are no check engine or other lights that come on once it shuts down. There does not appear to be any consistency in the occurences, sometimes while idling, sometimes while driving 40 mph. Up until recently, the car would restart once I put it in neutral, but it now does not restart right away.
I was driving the vehicle normally down the highway. When I exited the highway, I came to a stop light and made a complete stop at which point the engine stalled. I restarted the vehicle, the check engine light appeared, but I couldn’t get it to register any RPMs and I was left stranded in a busy intersection until help arrived.
my car will stall randomly at stop signs and red lights with absolutely no warning. it’s super dangerous and has almost caused a wreck. i have taken it to mechanic and no codes are being thrown and it’s showing nothing is wrong. it’s a matter of time a accident happens and someone gets hurt. I would definitely like to figure this out!
When driving the vehicle the tachometer and speedometer remain at zero. This has been happening on and off for about a month. Multiple scan tools have been used to scan the vehicle with no codes appearing. Sometimes the vehicle will rev up but not accelerate.
I financed my 2014 Elantra a few months ago in September and this engine is failing
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND ONLY ACCELERATED TO 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE FOUND. THE MECHANIC CLEANED ALL THE SENSORS; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,532.
2014 ELANTRA DRIVING THE CAR IN TOWN AT SLOW SPEEDS, USUALLY AROUND 15-25 MILES AN HOUR, WITH RPMS AT ABOUT 1250. FIRST NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH EXTREMELY JERKY DRIVING, BUT ADDED GAS AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY, AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A ONE-TIME THING. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I SET AN APPOINTMENT TO THE MURDOCK HYUNDAI OF MURRAY UTAH TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE THAT WAS PUTTING MY FAMILY AND MY SECURITY IN RISK. ON JUNE 18TH AROUND 6 PM, THE DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN, THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO CLEAN MY GAS INJECTORS, TO DO A TUNE-UP, TO DO AN ALIGNMENT AND TO ADD NEW FOUR TIRES CHANGE SINCE THEY WERE TOTALLY DAMAGED., SOME KIND OF HYUNDAI SOLVENT CLEANERS FOR THE GAS ENGINE. ALL OF THE SERVICES HAD A TOTAL OF $1043 DOLLARS. I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL IT NEEDED BUT NOT IT WAS NOT. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CAR STARTED TO HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE, LOSING POWER AGAIN, ENGINE SLOWING DOWN AND BAD GAS MILEAGE... I SET UP ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING AND THE RPM'S FAILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FAMILY HYUNDAI (8101 W 159TH ST, TINLEY PARK, IL 60477), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT SENT AN EMAIL TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT HAD NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,804.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON INTERSTATE AT 65MPH WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON FOR OVER 30 SECONDS AND DRASTICALLY SLOWED THE VEHICLE TO UNDER 20MPH. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE COMPLETELY DRY AND ROAD SURFACE WAS SMOOTH. HAZARD LIGHTS WERE PUT ON TO WARN OTHER DRIVERS FROM POSSIBLE COLLISION AND I PULLED OVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO OCCASIONS IN A 3 WEEK PERIOD. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY SAID NO CODES CAME UP AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE DESCRIBED PROBLEM. A RECALL WAS ISSUED IN 2011-2012 FOR SIMILAR ISSUE ON SAME MAKE AND MODEL.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND REPAIRED. ONE MONTH LATER, WHILE PARKING AND APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND CRASH INTO TWO CEMENT POLES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. 08-26-16 WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT A PUBLIC PARK WHILE DOING LESS THAN 5 MILES PER HOUR, I EXPERIENCED RAPID UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, PLOWED THROUGH A FENCE, SIDESWIPED A TREE, WENT OFF A GRASSY MEDIAN BACK UP ONTO A GRASSY MEDIAN AND THEN BOUNCED OFF OF THAT BEFORE THE CAR FINALLY CAME TO REST. MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK AND I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. IT IS A MIRACLE THAT I AM NOT DEAD AS THE PARK IS ON A VERY BUSY 4 LANE ROAD AND IS USUALLY FULL OF CHILDREN.

I HAS RECENTLY TRADED IN MY 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA FOR A 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE 2014 HAD STARTED DOING WHAT THE 2012 DID OCCASIONALLY, ACCELERATE WHEN I RELEASED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS TO SWITCH TO THE BRAKE TO BEGIN SLOWING DOWN FOR A LIGHT. AFTER I'VE APPLIED THE BRAKE AND I'M COASTING BEFORE I NEED TO APPLY IT AGAIN, THE CAR WILL ACCELERATE. I USED TO THINK IT WAS MY IMAGINATION, THEN I READ OTHERS CONFIRMING IT DOES HAPPEN. LATELY I'VE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR ACCELERATING WHEN I DO TOUCH THE GAS, THE ENGINE REVS UP AND BOLTS FORWARD LIKE I FLOORED IT, BUT I ONLY LIGHTLY TOUCHED THE GAS. I'LL BE BRINGING IT TO THE DEALER SOON FOR THESE ISSUES. *TR
I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN AS I WAS APPROACHING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. MY FOOT WAS NEITHER ON THE GAS NOR THE BRAKE AND THE CAR ACCELERATED AS IF I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2014 HYUNDAI ELANTRA (THAT I HAD ONLY HAD FOR 3 MONTHS, HAD 1,500 MILES ON THE CAR) HOME FROM THE AIRPORT, HAD MY CRUISE CONTROL SET ON 55 FOR THE PREVIOUS 30 MINUTES, AND I NOTICED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS BRAKING. NATURALLY, I PRESSED THE BRAKE AS WELL TO SLOW DOWN, BUT THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AS ROCK AND WOULD NOT PRESS IN AT ALL AND THEREFORE I COULD NOT SLOW DOWN AND CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT DISENGAGE. I KEPT TRYING TO PRESS THE BRAKE AS HARD AS I COULD, BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AND WOULD NOT WORK AND CRUISE CONTROL KEPT ACCELERATING. I PRESSED THE CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON ON MY STEERING WHEEL, BUT THAT DID NOT DISENGAGE EITHER. JUST HAS I WAS SHIFTING MY CAR TO NEUTRAL, MY CAR REAR-ENDED THE LEXUS IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER MY CAR STRUCK THE LEXUS (MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE PEDAL), I FELT THE BRAKE FINALLY PRESS IN AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE BRAKE MALFUNCTION IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION, BUT UPON MY OWN INVESTIGATION, I FOUND A RECALL OF HYUNDAI ELANTRA YEAR MODELS 2007-2011 FOR THIS VERY ISSUE THAT CAUSED MY CAR ACCIDENT. *TR
