2018 Honda Civic Electrical Problems

There crappy electrical Systems and cause a fire! It’s breaks the AC system. Someone could die of heat related reason from driving in 95 degree weather.

Without warning or when I come out to my call, all the windows are rolled down, and the sunroof is open. I have been repeatedly told by the dealership that this is an operator error and that the function on my key fob must have been accidently pressed. However, this issue has happened when the key fob is nowhere near the vehicle.

Airbag did not deploy

Car battery died 3 times. Bought new battery after it being towed 2 times. Door handle had to be replaced labor and costs over one thousand dollars.

Actuator Assy., Fuel Lid (FUEL FILL DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR). Repeatedly locks and unlocks (making a gun shot noise loudly) every time I get in and out of the vehicle. Yes, it is available for inspection at any time.

Keyfob range reduced drastically used to be able to remote start my car from over 200ft. Now I can't even do it over 30ft. Even one of the sale men said it was a problem because he was able to start his own civic from over a 100ft.

Honda recall the 2018 civic for AC compressor shaft seal and the dealer repair the AC system 3 times and the problem was not fix. Also has a recall for a fuel pump motor but im not sure is was correct it for the old owner.

1) Caused by faulty Body Control Module (BCM). 2) can't enter car, key fob won't unlock car. Dashboard is illuminated when car is off, I can see it through my window.

My AC system in my 2018 Honda has now failed twice under 80000 miles. The first time the compressor and condenser were leaking and failed around 50000 miles which the dealership said was due to a new refrigerant that Honda had started using for this generation of civics. Following this repair, Honda extended the warranty for these components of the AC system.

All dashboard warning light turn on flashing at the same time causing confusing and unsecured driving

Water leaks in trunk every time it rains and stays in spare tire wheel well causing rust on spare tire, tools, etc. Also mold has presented in trunk which is another problematic issue. Honda Service Technician found wire/cable on wire harness that is not routed properly, damage to trunk seal is present from rubbing, recommended replace trunk seal and reroute cable.

I am the original owner of the above listed vehicle. The AC is not circulating cold air. I brought it in to get inspected and was told that the AC went out and has to be replaced.

After less than 4 years, the dashboard Infotainment Screen stopped working and went blank/dark. I checked all connections and fuses with no luck. After a trip to the Honda Dealer, they quoted $1200.00 to replace the Infotainment screen.

First it was two hoses that had issues with the AC then the condensor wasnt holding anything in so it kept leaking out and my AC still wasnt working so Honda said the Evaporator went out and said this is what Honda is known for and happens a lot. So my whole AC all these little parts kept going out and it cost me $4000 to replace all of them and to get it fixed.

Air conditioner stopped working, blows out hot air. Dealer said condenser was leaking. Heard there was recall on some honda civics for this issue.

Several issues with the touch screen, when cold out the screen will not come on, only displays a blank white screen. This requires several restarts, screen goes blank (black) lose all controls and radio. Even after pulling over and restarting the vehicle several times, sometimes it will not come back on for miles and then comes in and out until it fully reboots.

The engine wiring harness cover composition is attractive to rodents. Squirrels chewed into the harness leading to loss of acceleration. The entire harness needs replacing due to the soy based wire coating.

(4 complaints, all possibly electrical) 1) key not detected in veh error, while driving vehicle, I have the key not connected to anything and no longer in a pouch, my car beeps and says "key not detected in the vehicle) this has happened while driving on the street and freeway. It is a random occurrence but happens on a daily basis. 2) bluetooth is not clear on the person speaking to me's side.

The standard OEM key fobs for Honda Civics, for several model years, and possibly for other Honda models, have a "feature" that seriously affects driver and passenger safety, and that cannot be disabled. If two buttons are depressed simultaneously on the key fob for a period of time, all of the windows go down and the doors unlock.

Body control module constantly fails and begins to parasitically drain the battery of the vehicle. I've had to swap the body control module twice now after it has failed shortly after the warranty period. This is not as serious as other issue but having the battery drained at unexpected times can cause safety issues.

Every so often, quite a few lights will come on my dash. These lights include and relate to problems with power steering, hill start assist, emissions system, traction control tire pressure, and brake system. It does not allow me to use my brake hold when this happens.

The computer board is out and on back order. I have to boost my care EVERYTIME I attempt to drive it. It has been out since January and won't be in until March 8th.

The battery that came with this new car dies every 2 weeks for no rhyme or reason! This battery needs to be recalled it’s not right. Honda refuses to correct the problem and pretends that it passes the battery test when it should be failing the battery test.

Vehicle will not start. The vehicle was sitting in my office parking lot the first time this happened and went to leave and the inside lights flashed and then seemed as if the battery died. Got car jumped off, took to economy honda in chattanooga, tn they checked it and said nothing was wrong and the battery was fine.

On the 1st of july 2019. After I start the car in the morning, then I put it into reverse gear to back up from the parking space. But the backup camera turns the purple screen.

Tire pressure monitoring system comes on. Tire pressure is exactly 34/35 PSI as door panel advises. Reset the TPMS system to fix the warning.

Honda civic 2018 manual transmission. Bumping the keychain with my knee can rotate the key in the ignition turning off the car while driving. I have a standard size key ring with a couple car keys and work/home keys.
