While driving on the highway, you smelled a burning odor coming through the air vents, and then fire appeared from under the hood on the driver's side. You pulled over and tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, but it didn't work—the fire department had to extinguish it. The source of the fire was never determined, and your vehicle was declared a total loss. The electrical system may have had a short circuit or wiring issue that caused the fire.

I am having issues with my transmission. My gears get stuck between 2nd and 3rd gear while driving. It loses power and I have to switch to Neutral and put it back in Drive in order for it to become unstuck. I have taken it to Honda, and they told me it was the computer, and several other things. They replaced $2000 worth of parts and the problem still happens. I took it back to Honda and they told me I needed a new transmission after they took $2000 from me. This initially started approximately 5 months ago when my engine light came on.

IT WOULD NOT OPEN. WE WERE ON THE FREEWAY, ON A COLD RAINY DAY AND VISIBILITY WAS BAD, AND NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE LIGHTS, OR DEFROSTER WORK PROPERLY PUT US IN A HAZARDOUS POSITION. LATER I FOUND OUT AS I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WAS THAT OUR FUSE BOX WAS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, AND THE LIGHTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE ONLY AND THE DOOR AND THE DEFROSTER WERE NOT WORKING. IT COST ME $951.09 TO GET THIS REPAIRED ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD. I THINK WHEN PEOPLE GET IN A CAR, AND DRIVE IT ESPECIALLY IN HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS, EVERYTHING SHOULD WORK PROPERLY. I DID SEE ON SEVERAL SITES THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER, OR WAS CONTACTED BY MY DEALER. I WOULD LIKE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE $951.09 OH, AND I ALSO WOULD LIKE OTHER HONDA OWNERS TO BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. IT COULD POSSIBLY PREVENT AN ACCIDENT, SOMEONE IN DIRE SITUATION THAT AFFECTS THEIR SAFETY. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ON A RAINY DAY, AND THE DEFROSTER COULD NOT CLEAR THE WINDOWS, WE COULD NOT PUT THE HEATER ON, COULD NOT ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN, COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR BECAUSE THE LOCK WOULD NOT COME UP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXTENDED 75,000 MILE WARRANTY EXPIRED BY FIVE MILES; THEREFORE, THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FUSE ON HER OWN, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. TAKATA RECALL, WE BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR OVER 16,000 AT GORMLEYS AUTOMOTIVE. AFTER GETTING IT HOME THERE WERE CERTAIN REPAIRS THAT WE NEEDED ASAP. THE CAR WAS DEFINITELY IN A PREVIOUS ACCIDENT AS WE COULD SEE WHEN THE PAINT CHIPPED THAT THERE WAS THE ORIGINAL HONDA WHITE UNDERNEATH. THE CAR HAS 3 RECALLS. LIGHTS COME ON THAT DO NOT MAKE SENSE AND EVEN THOUGH WE DIDN'T RECEIVE A MANUAL, I LOOKED THINGS UP ON THE INTERNET. THE ENGINE BELT RUMBLES, THE SUSPENSION IS WAY OFF, THE LEATHER SEATS AND SIDEARMS HAVE RIPPED BECAUSE THEY WERE REPLACED BY CHEAP PARTS. THE CAR LOAN IS FOR 331.00 MONTHLY AND STILL IS OWED A SIGINIFICANT AMOUNT ON. STEWARD FINANCIAL HARASSES WITH PHONE CALLS IF YOU ARE AN HR LATE ON A PAYMENT. UNACCEPTABLE. I AM DISABLED AND CAN BARELY MAKE ENDS MEET. I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR A CAR THAT RUNS LIKE A HOOPDEE WHEN ITS SUPPOSED TO RUN LIKE A HONDA. TURNING IT DOES NOT GRAB THE ROAD, STATIONARY THE ENGINE RUMBLES. I AM A FEMALE SO I DO NOT KNOW TO MUCH ABOUT CARS. THE CAR DOOR LOCKED AGAIN AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET INTO THE CAR EITHER BY USING THE KEYLESS ENTRY NOR BY MANUALLY TRYING TO UNLOCK IT WITH THE KEY IN THE DOOR LOCK. I HAD TO LET THE FOOD STAY IN THE CAR OVER NIGHT AS WELL AS THE OTHER THINGS I HAD PURCHASED. I AM SO GLAD I DID NOT HAVE MY NIECE WITH ME. THE NEXT DAY, I HAD TO SPEND $60.00 TO GET A LOCKSMITH TO OPEN THE DOOR. ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS THAT LOCKS WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, KEEPS LOCKING EVERY TIME A MAKE A STOP AND PULL OFF AGAIN. THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY TOO. BACK IN AUGUST I TOOK MY CAR TO SOUTHEASTERN HONDA DEALER LIKE I ROUTINELY DO TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED. IT WAS SUGGESTED BY SERVICE REP TO CHANGE MY TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH I DID. ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ONE NIGHT MY ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND MY CAR WAS DRIVING LIKE IT IS GOING TO SHUT OFF. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY HOOKED IT UP TO A MACHINE AND SAID IT WAS 2 OF MY SPARK PLUGS, IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ACCORDS V6 SO IT'S BEST TO CHANGE ALL OF PLUGS WHICH I AGREED TOO AND THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ON 2/7/13 I TOOK MY CAR TO SOUTHEASTERN HONDA FOR MY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND AGAIN THE SERVICE REP SUGGESTED MY POWER STEERING FLUID AND BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE CHANGED WHICH I AGREED TOO. ON MY WAY HOME THE VSA, BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR. AS SO AS I WAS ABLE TO I TOOK IT BACK TO SOUTHEASTERN HONDA, THE SAME SERVICE REP SAID THEY HOOK IT UP AND IT WAS THE SPARK PLUGS WHICH WAS CHANGE BACK IN AUGUST AND IT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING BECAUSE ALL THE PLUGS WERE CHANGED AND IT'S A DEFECT IN THE ENGINE. HE WILL SPEAK WITH THE GOOD WILL HONDA PERSON BECAUSE THE CAR NEEDS AN ENGINE. HE CALLED BACK A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER AND SAY IT'S THE ENGINE AND I WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY HALF FOR THE ENGINE. I LEFT MY CAR AT THE DEALER FOR A WEEK, PAID A FEW DOLLARS SHORT OF $3000.00 DOLLARS AND MY ENGINE VSA, BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS IS STILL COMING ON. I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SHUDDERING IN MY CAR. ON JANUARY 21, 2013, I LOGGED A COMPLAINT NUMBER WITH HONDA USA. THEIR RECOMMENDATION WAS FOR ME TO HAVE MY CAR LOOKED AT BY A CERTIFIED HONDA TECHNICIAN. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR JANUARY 25TH AND TOOK THE CAR IN. THE CERTIFIED DEALER IN COUNTRYSIDE CALLED TO TELL ME HE WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DID AN UPLOAD OF MORE RECENT SOFTWARE AND THE ISSUE SEEMED TO BE FIXED. MOTOR SHUTS DOWN REGARDLESS OF SPEED AND CAN SOMETIMES BE RESTARTED BY APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH KEY FORWARD TO RESTART IF POSSIBLE WHILE ON ROADWAY. OTHERWISE, MUST EXECUTE A QUICK RESPONSE TO LOSING POWER BRAKING, STEERING AND ETC. AND DRIVE TO SAFETY AT OFF ROAD LOCATION. UPON REMOVING THE IGNITION KEY FROM SWITCH MODULE, THE METAL KEY WAS EXTREMELY HOT, STARTING ENGINE BACK UP OFTEN WAS NOT POSSIBLE UNTIL IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY COOLED DOWN. THIS OCCURRENCE PUT AN UNREASONABLE RISK ON OCCUPANTS DUE POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V120000 ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, REJECTION OF APPLYING RECALL TO MY VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THE SITUATION WAS EXACTLY IDENTICAL TO RECALL BY HONDA DEALER, WHO REPLACED SWITCH AT MY EXPENSE AND REFUSED TO CONSIDER THAT RECALL APPLIED TO THE IGNITION UNIT AS NOT ON RECALL LIST. I QUESTIONED SENSIBILITY OF THIS AS MY CAR'S IGNITION SWITCH WAS MALFUNCTIONING EXACTLY AS THE IGNITION SWITCH UNDER RECALL. IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, THE CAR WOULD NOT START ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS. HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR JUMP STARTED. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THAT NOTHING IS SHOWING WRONG WITH IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC READING. THEY FIRST INDICATED THAT AN INTERIOR LIGHT COULD HAVE BEEN LEFT ON BUT THEN THE PROBLEM REPEATED ITSELF. TOOK THE CAR BACK AND WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. FOR THAT REASON THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIX SOMETHING THAT IS NOT WRONG. HOWEVER, THE CAR HAS NOT STARTED ON EVEN AFTER IT HAS HAD TWO NEW BATTERIES PUT IN IT. SOMETHING CONTINUES TO KILL THE BATTERY WHEN IT SITS FOR A WHILE OR OVER NIGHT AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IT IS AND WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE "NOTHING IS WRONG" WITH THE CAR. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL START BUT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. I HAVE A CAR THAT I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE FOR FEAR THAT I MIGHT BE STRANDED. I'VE ALSO PURCHASED A JUMPER CABLES WITH BATTERY TO KEEP IN THE TRUNK OF THE CAR BECAUSE I AM USING MY AUTO CLUB TOO MUCH IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND NOW THEY MUST CHARGE ME IF THEY COME OUT TO START IT. POOR HEADLIGHT PERFORMANCE IS 'NORMAL' DUE TO THE OPERATION OF THE ELECTRICAL LOAD DETECTOR (ELD). THE FUNCTION OF THE ELD IS TO PROVIDE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEMAND INFORMATION TO THE ONBOARD COMPUTER MODULE. THE ONBOARD COMPUTER THEN USES THE PROVIDED INFORMATION TO ADJUST ALTERNATOR OUTPUT WHICH ULTIMATELY RESULTS IN FUEL SAVINGS. HAD INTO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY SAID BAD PAINT ,BAD FABRIC AND FLICKERING LIGHTS ARE CHACTERISTICS OF THE 2008 HONDA ACCORDS.SERVICE MANAGER VARIFIED ALL PROBLEMS AND THEN I GET A CALL LATER TO PICK UP CAR BECAUSE THEY TRIED TO FIX THE SEAT AND COULDNT SO THEY ORDERED ANOTHER SEAT FRAME.I PICKED THE CAR UP NEXT DAY WITH FRAUDULENT PAPERWORK,WRONG DATES AND MIALEGE.I WAS WONDERING WHY SEATBELT DID NOT FEAL TIGHT.I GET HOME AND SEE THAT WHEN THEY TOOK SEAT OUT TO TRY AND FIX,MECHANIC DID NOT INSTALL SEAT BELT BACK ON THE FRAME AND HE DISTRYED THE SYL PLATE TAKING SEAT IN AND OUT AND NOW THE BOLT COVER IS ALSO MISSING.DEALER PICKED UP CAR FROM AND BROUGHT IT BACK.DID NOT SEND CAR BACK WITH PAPERWORK OR EVEN AN APOLAGY.THEY CLAIM THEY ORDERED REPLACEMENT PARTS TO FIX WHAT THEY DAMAGED.PLEASE EMAIL ME AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW ANYTHING YOUD LIKE.HONDA WAS NO HELP. HONDA IS RUDE , AND DOESN'T CARE. BESIDES PEALING PAINT, BAD DRIVERS UPHOLSTRY,THE PASSENGER SEAT WILL NOT STAY STILL AND HASS A BEAD CREAKING SOUND. MY SELLING DEALER THAT TOLD ME NOT TO COME BACKS SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME I WEIGH TOO MUCH. I AM 245 LBS NOW. WHEN WE HAD OUR 04 AND 06 I WAS 300 AND IT WAS FINE. MURRY COHEN SERVICE MANAGER AT SLOANE THREW ME OUT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT,THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE AND REFUSED TO GIVE PAPERWORK SHOWING THE CAR WAS THERE, BUT I HAVE THE RENTAL AGREEMENT THEY SIGNED FOR THE DAY.
