A few years ago our camera on our 2016 Ford fusion started acting up. Going in and out, sometimes blank. I actually filled a complaint out before.

The trunk opens on its own intermittently. When I try to close the trunk, it will not stay closed and a clicking sound can be heard. This has been going on for almost three years.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid, which I purchased in late June 2024. Despite the ongoing issues with my vehicle, it does not appear on the NHTSA recall list, even though many other Ford owners are experiencing similar problems. Recently, I encountered severe symptoms, including a persistent coolant leak and a puff of white smoke from the tailpipe.

The coolant leaks into the engine, causing misfiring, overheating, and sputtering.The following message is the displayed on the dashboard. "Engine Coolant Over Temperature". When this happens, the happens the vehicle barely moves with smoke from the hood.

So multiple times in this past year I have been driving my car as normal and when I approach an intersection, decreased my speed, then proceed to accelerate in order to move forward or turn ... while pressing the accelerator its like I have no power.. it goes into a limp mode.

Coolant leak into engine causing over heating 24/7, damaging and leaking into combustion chamber , spark plugs had to be replaced , engine needs another replacement after I had replaced it the first week I got it with the vehicle’s warranty, engine is at risk for engine fire and failure.

Service Advanve Trac light comes on, ABS light, Air bag light, brake malfunction, the turn signals stop working and steering because a little tight, was on the high and this happen and delayed decrease in speed, turn signal available, almost caused major accident get of on an exit with no turn signal functions, this has to stop.

After owning this fusion my dashboard is severely warping I’m assuming due to outside summer temperatures. It’s caused it to warp in a way that my windshield defroster is lacking to clear my windshield of any condensation, my HUD collision warning light and passenger airbag light are not being visible at all times when driving.

While driving to get into an Interstate Highway, the car key was tapped and suddenly the car engine shut off, panel blacked out and showed a message “ Transmission not in park”. Tried to accelerate and was not able since car was already moving I had enough acceleration to pull over if not probably I would cause an accident.

I was driving my 2016 ford fushion the breaks hit the floor and wouldn't break any more I was around the corner from discount tire and service center and took the car to get serviced on 08/12/2020 they found all the fluid was out and the left brake hose was leaking they serviced my car replaced the hose refilled the fluid and returned my car the next day on 09/18/20 my brake pedal hit the floor again luckily I was parked as I tried to reverse I noticed the brake pedal wasn't working I couldn't drive the car nomore I had to call a tow truck.

I drive a 2016 ford fusion se AWD with the 2.0l ecoboost/gtdi motor. I was at a gas station refueling my vehicle, with the 87 octane fuel the oem calls for on the vehicle. I was about 1/4 tank before refueling and I filled my tank until full.

I was driving from my grocery shopping when all of a sudden my car will not accelerate anymore and it was sliding backward. Not sure if sliding backwards was due to slightly uphill or another problem on top of car wouldn?t drive anymore.

The doors will not lock while im inside. You can easily open the door after you lock it from the inside. My children can open it while the vehicle is moving.

When in reverse the backup camera glitches sometime, it doesn’t even come on. There’s a knocking under the hood. I’ve been told that is the fuel pump .

My daughter drove to her friend house where she simply put the car in park, not even turning off the engine, and 5 minutes later when she attempted to put the car in drive the car would not shift.

After turning off the vehicle, it would not go into park. Several attempts were made and still, the vehicle would not go into park. I tried moving the vehicle to a different parking stall and again, it would not go into park.

Last week I pulled into work put my car into park let up on the brake and the car kept moving forward. I then pushed on the brakes again thinking I did something wrong looked down car was still in park. Let off the brakes again and the car continued to move forward.

The bushing that attaches to the shifter cable broke from the transmission, which made my car appear to be in park, however, it was not. I was pumping gas, when I was done, I turned my car on and went to take it out of park and it would not move, showing my car was in another gear, which caused my car to roll forward almost slamming into the gas station.

Vehicle was reflecting in park on the shifter, but the car was still in drive and rolling while in a fast food drive thru. The shifter got locked eventually in park but car was still moving. Had it towed and then car wouldn't start due to shifter being locked.

There are 2 recalls on my car the mileage is 59000 and the shifter cable is the problem right now there is also a recall on the steering wheel.

Car has broken down 3 times and has only 38000 miles on it. I have been without a car for a month because ford can not figure out what is wrong with it. First time it was supposedly the catalytic converter which they replaced.

The backup camera screen is black or dhows a distorted image and sometimes shows an error message like Camera not available. This is very dangerous!

We had the door latch recall fixed just over a year ago and now our door won't close. The latch is broken again and it needs to be fixed FREE

Rear view camera goes crazy when in reverse, sometimes shows a blank white screen, sometimes a message appears that the camera is not available and to contact a dealer, it will randomly activate while driving forward sometimes immediately after putting it in drive and other times after driving forward sometimes immediately a while after continuously driving for a while without having put it in reverse at at point.

My back up camera has the same issues that Ford listed in their recall. My screen is black at times when backing up. My camera doesn't always pop up when backing up, my normal screen will stay on as of I'm not backing up.

The backup camera on our 2016 Ford Fusion has worked intermittently for quite some time now. (Couple of years at least.) Sometimes when we shift to reverse we get a black display screen, sometimes we get a distorted image, sometimes we get a message saying no camera is available, other times it works normally.

Backup camera has failed. It was first replaced in 2020 under extended warranty. Now it has failed again.

Backup camera intermittently goes out for a few seconds when backing up, resulting in a blank screen. Putting the driver at risk of property damage or injuring others. I have a small dog & am aftaid of I juring him when backing into driveway.

I was parked in a parking spot in a parking lot and put my car in reverse to back out. As I was backing out my gear shifter cable snapped and I could not put my car back into any other gear. This caused me to be stopped in the middle of the parking lot blocking traffic.

The ABS System light , The traction off and on at the same time, the advanced track light, and finally the tire pressure monitor fault I belive is what it says. The lights came on one day when I crossed over railroad tracks that were a little rough nothing that should damage anything on a vehicle. one after another the lights began coming on.

There is an Unrepaired Recall associated with my car. The Manufacturer Recall Number is 23S12. The NHTSA Recall Number is 23V162.

Went somewhere in my car. Got out the door wouldn’t latch. Had to drive it home with a broken latch.

The driver side door latch will not close. This is apparently a recall being enforced in only certain states. My car was bought, and registered in Pennsylvania, and is not covered by the 2 previous recalls for this issue.

The component that failed was the flex plate. It is available for inspection at this exact moment, but it’s scheduled to be fixed next week. The safety issue is that it’s intermittently providing adequate power to the engine and causing the vehicles steering to shake violently.

The trunk on the fusion randomly opens on it's own, the key fob can be hanging inside the house, it opens when it's sunny, cloudy, dark, when the car is parked or when I am driving the car, which is a safety hazard as it can block my vision behind the car. It has been happening for over a year now. No warning lights alert of the soon to pop open trunk.

I've noticed that coolant is leaking from somewhere in the vehicle. There's no obvious drips. I went online to see if anyone else had this issue with the specific model car and it seems as if quite a few people have had this issue.

This past July my front passenger door would not latch, I was unable to close and secure the door. I called San Tan Ford, and they initially said this was a known problem with my make and model and that there was a recall on the door latches.

While picking up my daughter from the ER last night, the door latch on the drivers side would not latch and close. This happened without notice. This is definitely a safety hazard to me and others on the road.

The OEM lug nuts that Ford supplies are a 2 piece construction that swells and makes it impossible to change a tire on the side of the road because you have to pound the lug wrench to get it to go on. Ford knows about the problem and will not replace them. A set of 20 lug nuts cost over $200.

The APAM system which controls the blue tooth speaker phone access has quit functioning and FORD offers no solution. This is a safety hazard since several states have outlawed holding a cell phone for calls. A vehicle this age should not have experienced this type of failure and the cost of repair is rather large.

During a tire repair at COSTCO (12/15/21) and a tire rotation at Big O Tires (1/24/22), all the lug nuts were difficult to remove and showed damage/warping. I had to purchase replacements for safety and future removal ability. I have the receipts and both dealers can be contacted for corroboration.

There was a recall for the bushing on the shifter cable for 2013 - 2016 Fusions with a 2.5L engine under recall number 19S15. My vehicle is a 1.5L engine and this bushing failed Thursday 10/28/2021. I never found the part to see how it failed.

The contact's son owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while her son was reversing into a parking spot to park the vehicle, the gear shifter would not move and remained stuck in reverse. The contact did not know whether there was a warning light illuminated.

This vehicle frequently loses climate control function causing lack of heat or a/c in the vehicle. This occurs at random during both initial start up, and randomly while driving the vehicle at various speeds.

Everytime I go over 60 MPH I hear a rattling nose from the front passenger door and I know there's a safety recall for ford fusion door latch so I called the dealer and also ford customer service but both said there's no recall with my VIN but I can hear it and I'm afraid that my passenger door might open while driving.

I have a had to replace the passenger side front door latch and the drivers side rear door latch in the last 15 months. The vehicle was stationary on both occasions. I open both doors to place something in my vehicle and when I attempted to close the doors they did not latch.

1st problem on highway going 55 MPH air vacuum pack went out on brakes problem was fixed only to occur 3 days later, this time at a stop light and blew a coupling on the same part. After that is fixed same week 2nd problem service engine soon light comes on day later car looses speed bogs down and shuts off. Mechanic reset the ses light to tell me the eco boost sport pack is going out.

While at a stop light check engine light came on and the car turned off. Was able to get it started and took it to the service center next day. They are still checking the car but so far they have found the coolant is leaking all over the engine and we will most likely have to replace the entire engine.

I have just recently purchased my 2016 ford fusion AWD vehicle and the check engine light has come on. I had a professional scanner run the code and it has to do with faulty emission sensors near the gas tank, which I have heard are common for these vehicles. No recall means I'm out $300 after just purchasing a brand new "used" vehicle.

After turning the car on and starting to drive, the car randomly will start to lose power. The car will then just stop moving. The car ignition will still be in the on position and in drive gear.

While on a hill I came to a stop and put my car into the park position. My car strated to roll down hill after I put the car in park. I could not remove the key or move the shift out of park.

Takata recall: my ignition key switch was broke making it to where I could remove my key with the car running finally one day my ignition switch locked up costing me $1023.64 because I was forced to buy 2 keys through ford which where $250.00 an piece then the ignition part being $30.00 the rest was in labor.

Does anything actually happen when someone files a complaint with NHTSA? I submitted a complaint for a recall repair rembursment and was supposed to get a confirmation email but never did.

The brakes were making a loud noise the windshield light stays on, and the engine smells like it's over heating.

This a complaint about our ford fusion 2016. The problem has started couple months ago, while driving, and sometimes as we start the car, it ripple and kick and the check engine light and see manual light turn on and after 30 min. To an hour they turn off.the engine has completely died on us twice.

On 7/26 my 2016 ford fusion enegeri with 3800 miles acted oddly awhile at a red light. When I attenmped to accelerate it surged forward and soon after an icon that looked like a submarine ppeared on my dashboard. I had just taken the vehicle in for it's first service at 3400 miles.

Backup camera inverts and blanks out. Other ford vehicles have this issue and have recall notices. 2016 Ford Fusions do not have this recall.

Backup camera seldom works. It will often display an error once gear is shifted into reverse that the camera is unavailable. Other times it will glitch into a blue screen and then display the error message, or it I’ll work with no issue.

The back up camera does absolutely nothing to notify the driver if it's getting too close to something or someone. It does not show the green, yellow or red lines as you're reversing and it does not even beep when approaching something too closely. It's just there.

Trunk automatically opens while driving numerous times. Pulled over when able and noticed that the actuator clicks continuously until I turned the car off.

Without warning, my car got stuck in reverse while backing out of a parking spot. I could not shift the vehicle into any gear. I was stuck in the middle of a parking lot blocking traffic.

The car locked in Neutral but the gear shift is locked in Park. The bushel broke, which was a recall on my make and model but does not show when I search for recalls on my vehicle.

The doors come open and will not latch back. They come open while driving. This has happened a few times, the doors currently will not shut properly.

My trunk keeps popping open when it is not signaled to. This is a safety hazard for me because I do not want people to have access into my car. This is a safety hazard for others because my trunk can open while I am driving, resulting in my belongings flying out, becoming an obstacle for those driving behind me.

Upon start up of the vehicle the vehicle sputtered . I would give it some gas and then a large grey cloud of smoke come out the exhaust.

Automatic Trans Shift Cable. I put my car into reverse and was backing up- I then shifted into drive and my car started rolling backwards still. I had to slam on my brakes and use my braking brake to stop my car from rolling backward.

The bushing that attaches the transmission shifter cable to the transmission has degraded causing the bushing to detach from the transmission.

While in motion, the trunk of this vehicle pops open randomly roughly once a week. It completely unlatches while the vehicle is locked and gives an alert that the trunk is open.

Driver side safety door lock latch gave out and door does not close to lock. Door opened in the middle of traffic. Used a rope to tie door closed in inside but door ajar light comes on still.

When I put my car in reverse, the image displayed for the backup camera is inverted. If a car is on my right side, it will display that it is on the left side on the screen. It has been doing this for over a year and only seems to work maybe 1/50 trips, in particular when it is extremely cold.

I was driving in the freeway, and then suddenly a red alert message popped in my speedometer saying to stop, and I couldn’t accelerate no more. At the time I was going 70mph and then the message appeared and I could accelerate no more, the car didn’t recognize the pedal. It happened yesterday.

Rear door will close completely but the latch will not hold the door closed. It reopens when you step away.

My climate control does not work Radio volume does not work and windows are locked unfortunately I roll down my windows when this happened and now they’re stuck open this has been occurring off and on I know this is happening to others as well something needs to be done.For all I know my airbags and we’re not working is this malfunction

The transmission shifter bushing is made of plastic, degraded and broke off. Please look at other Ford Fusion trims from 2013-2016. Ford posted this as a recall for some trims but for some reason not for my VIN but it’s the same crap design.

The shift linkage bushing in my 2016 ford fusion failed leaving me in the middle of traffic without gears and unable to move the car out of the way. I was in traffic and tried to change lanes when the gears locked and I couldn't move anymore.

My 2016 ford fusion se has 14,499 miles and dies at red lights, idles rough when AC in on and has died while driving 30 MPH. Not safe for me or my passengers when I don't know when or if it is going to die. I have read 13 other complaints with the same issue for this same type of vehicle.

My car has been stolen or picked up by a truck last seen was on the 17th of june,2020.went to the police and saw the car was picked up by a truck. As I was driving my back right passenger door kept saying it was open.so as I came to a stop I check it out. It seemed closed so I continued to drive. Then it notified me again but this time the door opened.

As I was driving my car locked up and I had to hard break. I took it into the shop and they said it was a wiring issue and not covered under warranty. They couldn't explain why it would happen and suggested I placed something heavy on my passenger dash.

There has been an incomplete safety recall concern for my 2016 for fusion since may . I was notified in may of an issue in which transmission gear shifters could possibly malfunction and cause gears not to shift properly. Today I hopped into my car and my car is completely stuck in park and will not shift gears.

I have a 2016 ford fusion that is under a recall but my VIN number is not. I was backing my car in to parking space I went to change gears to drive and it went into neutral and now my car is stuck in neutral on the dash the transmission is actually in neutral, but the gear shifter is in park.

My gear shift knob would not slide into the correct gear...it would be in park placement, yet still in drive or vice versa..it would be in reverse but actually in nuetral...this has been listed as a recall since may 13, 2019 and ford still has not come up with a remedy or a fix...its a bushing that needs to be changed out...

When attempting to start car, it clicks but will not start. I had road side assistance boot battery and got the car to start, I took the car to auto zone to test battery they said battery is good.
