CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND EVERYTIME I DO A COMPLETE STOP, I'VE BEEN LOOKING ONLINE FOR A SOLUTION TO FIX MY CAR AND IT LOOKS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAS THE SAME ISSUE AND NOBODY HAS A EXACT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM I ALREADY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND EGR VALVE BUT IT STILL STALLING.
I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY CAR ENTERED "LIMP HOME" MODE AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. I HAD BARELY ENOUGH TIME TO MOVE ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM TRAFFIC.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY DEFECTIVE. ENGINE STALLS, LOSES POWER, ENTERS LIMP MODE, AND RUNS AT REDUCED SPEEDS. ESPECIALLY DANGERS LEAVING AN INTERSECTION, AFTER BEING STOPPED, YOU CAN'T RELY ON THE VEHICLE HAVING ENOUGH POWER TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION AS ONCOMING TRAFFIC APPROACHES. ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT BEING T-BONED.
I PURCHASED THE 2009 FORD FUSION FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S FIRST CAR. IT ONLY HAS 68K MILES ON IT SO I WAS CONFIDENCE THAT IT WOULD BE A RELIABLE CAR. AFTER DIVING IT FOR ABOUT A MONTH THE CAR STARTED STALLING AND IT WAS NEVER CONSISTENT. ABOUT ONCE A WEEK THE CAR WOULD STALL SOMETIMES WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN OR JUST DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS. THEN ALSO SOMETIMES IT WOULD SURGE. SHE SAID THE SCARY PART WAS WHEN IT STALLS YOU CAN'T STEER OR BRAKE THE CAR BECAUSE OF NO POWER. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP SEVERAL TIMES THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE BODY BUT COULD NOT SAY FOR SURE AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THAT PART. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND THERE IS NO RECALL! ALSO, THE FLOOR MATS WHERE CONSTANTLY GETTING STUCK ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR ENGINE WOULD RACE UP AND MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP THE CAR. SO, THE NICE FUSION MATS ARE NOW IN THE GARBAGE AFTER ALMOST KILLING MY DAUGHTER. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE FORD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE DEFECTS AND FIX THEM!

THE CAR WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND ULTIMATELY STOPPED RUNNING. THE ISSUE SURROUNDING FORD'S LACK OF COMMITMENT IS THAT THE THROTTLE BODY DEFECT IS A KNOWN ISSUE; REFERENCE CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03. THE SERVICE MANAGER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID MY CAR DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE PARAMETERS OF THE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. I HAVE A CASE NUMBER FROM FORD INVOLVING THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY, BUT NOBODY HAS FOLLOWED UP WITH ME AND I ASSUME THE CASE IS CLOSED. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID HE DID NOT KNOW WHY MY CAR WOULD NOT BE COVERED SINCE IT'S THE SAME DEFECT THAT'S ADDRESSED BY THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT 70 MPH WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT TURNS ON THE DANS AND THE ENGINE JUST QUIT. VERY SCARY SO I PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND COASTED TO THE MEDIAN . I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND THE THEFT LOCK LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE CAR WOULDN'T EVEN CRANK THE MOTOR. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP IT STARTED RIGHT UP AT THE SHOP AND THERE WERE NO CODES IN THE COMPUTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE MESSAGE CENTER SAYA POD DATA ERROR. *TR

FOR THE PAST MONTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS APPEARED AND STAYED ON FOR A BRIEF TIME. NOW IT STAYS ON . I HAVE HAD A DIAGNOSTIC TEST DONE AND THE RESULTS WERE P2112, P0721 AND P2104. THERE APPEAR TO BE A BAD APP SENSOR, THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM-FORCED IDLE, STUCK CLOSED AND FAILED ECM. IF THIS IS INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP. I WAS DRIVING TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK A TAPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE THAT I HAD HEARD EARLIER THAT DAY. I MADE IT ABOUT 5 MILES FROM HOME, AND THE ENGINE HAD BLOWN, NO WARNING LIGHTS, NOTHING OTHER THAN THE SOUND THAT HAD JUST OCCURRED THAT MORNING. NOW I HAD MADE IT ABOUT 90K AFTER THE NEW ENGINE WAS INSTALLED (NOW AT 139000), AND AGAIN THE ENGINE HAS BLOWN. THIS TIME IT WAS A LITTLE WORSE, THE CAR HAD A SUDDEN INCREASE OF POWER, AND THEN ALL THE SUDDEN THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, AND A CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE FOLLOWED BY SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD AND THE REAR OF THE CAR. WHEN I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND SAW A PIECE OF THE ENGINE FALL OUT AND THEN ALL OF THE OIL AS WELL. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF EVERY VEHICLE I OWN, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT LOOKED LIKE I HADN'T CHANGED MY OIL EVER. IT WAS JUST A SLUDGE. *TR
1. ENGINE THREW A ROD RESULTING IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE JULY 10, 2009: WHILE TRAVELING THE I805 S IN SAN DIEGO, CA, THE VEHICLE ENGINE EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED, THERE WERE NO NOISES, NOTHING TO INDICATE WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. I WAS HEADING TO WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 1PM, WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 65MPH, WHEN I BEGAN TO NEAR MY FREEWAY INTERCHANGE. IT'S AN AREA WHERE TWO FREEWAYS MEET AND MERGING TRAFFIC IS MOVING MUCH SLOWER. CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE GRADUALLY BEGAN TO SLOW FROM 65MPH. MERGING TRAFFIC WAS TRYING TO MOVE RIGHT TO LEFT AND I WAS TRYING TO MOVE LEFT TO RIGHT; ONCE I SAW MY OPENING, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO SPEED UP. INSTANTLY THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION AND THE VEHICLE JOLTED. MY FIRST REACTION WAS THAT I HAD BEEN REAR ENDED OR HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO 'BUCK' AND THREW ITSELF INTO THE LANE TO IT'S RIGHT. SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE INTERIOR HVAC SYSTEM PULLED SMOKE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DURING THIS TIME. I MANAGED TO BRAKE AND MOVE TO THE SHOULDER, DURING THIS TIME THERE WERE BURSTS OF POWER AND THEN DECELERATION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY UNDER CONTROL, MY NEXT THOUGHT MOVED TO THE FIRE DANGER IT POSED TO THE SURROUNDING FREEWAY EMBANKMENT AND RESIDENTIAL AREAS ABOVE. I ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COAST DOWN THE HOME AVE EXIT RAMP AND PARKED IT IN THE CENTER OF HOME AVE. I LITERALLY LEAPT FROM THE VEHICLE AND RAN TO PULL MY SCHOOL AND WORK MATERIAL FROM THE TRUNK. I ATTEMPTED TO CALL 911 6 TIMES BEFORE GIVING UP AND CALLING MY WORK MANAGER. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THROUGH TO 911 DISPATCHERS THAT EVENTUALLY SENT A FIRETRUCK. 2. FAILURE HAPPENED ONCE 3. FORD REPLACED ENTIRE ENGINE ASSEMBLY AND MISCELLANEOUS DAMAGED COMPONENTS. *TR
