Throttle body failure causes vehicle to randomly die or shall or hard shift constantly while driving in heavy traffic and has almost caused multiple wrecks from vehicle stalling and hard shifting randomly. Every light on dash lights up when it happens and car dies causing driver to suddenly switch to park, turn key off and try to start car again while stuck in middle of road or traffic.
MY BRAKES HAVE HAD THE ISSUE REGARDING THIS RECALL FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW: DEC 18,2019 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER19S54 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER19V904 RECALL STATUSRECALL INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE SUMMARY ON YOUR VEHICLE, A VALVE IN THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MAY BE STUCK OPEN. THIS STILL HASN'T BEEN FIXED AND IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS RECALL IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS FIXED ASAP TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY TODDLER. THE BRAKES ARE HAVING TO HAVE EXTENDED TRAVEL, AND DO NOT ACT PROPERLY. PLEASE HELP.
SEE COMPLAINT # 11155933 CAR HAS DONE THE SAME UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ON 12/12/18 AND AGAIN ON 1/11/19. ON 12/12/18 STARTING SPEED WAS 25 MPH PRIOR TO ACCELERATION. ONE 1/11/19 STARTING SPEED WAS 55 MPH PRIOR TO ACCELERATION. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS HIT HARD TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY BUT ACCELERATION CONTINUES BEYOND WHAT IS INTENDED.
DURING ACCELERATION, TYPICALLY GETTING ON A HIGHWAY, THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER THE GAS PEDAL HAS BEEN LET OFF. PROBLEM IS MOMENTARY AND STOPPED AFTER HITTING THE BRAKE AND TAPPING THE GAS PEDAL. HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD AND RETURNED TO NORMAL A FEW SECONDS LATER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST TWELVE OTHER TIMES DURING THE COURSE OF SIX MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. MY 2009 FORD FUSION WOULD NOT CRANK, THEN WHEN IT DID IT IDLED ROUGH AND WOULD NOT SPEED UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY FORD DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH FORD HAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13B17 AND 13B03 THAT REFERS TO MY CAR, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED. I'M GLAD THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING THE CAR AT THE TIME.

ON 8/10/2014, AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, WE NOTICED A REDUCTION IN ACCELERATION ON OUR 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE, THE CODES P2112 AND P2104 SHOWED UP INDICATING A DEFECT WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. UPON RESEARCHING THE INTERNET WE FOUND THE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE13003 WHICH INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART ON 2009-2013 FUSIONS AND THAT FORD WOULD COVER THE REPAIR WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. WE TOOK THE CAR TO SOUTHWAY FORD IN SAN ANTONIO ON MONDAY, 8/11/2014. ON FRIDAY, 8/15/2014, THE FORD SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM TRULY WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT WE WERE TOLD THAT FORD WOULD NOT PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. WE HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE MANAGER AT SOUTHWAY FORD AND TO THE CORPORATE CUSTOMER RELATIONS DEPARTMENT AT FORD. OBVIOUSLY, THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS PART, WHICH CAUSES A POTENTIAL LIFE-THREATENING SAFETY HAZARD BUT FORD DOES NOT SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION AND IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL IN COMBINATION WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED FORCEFULLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY BE RELATED TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR MAT. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 13,920.

ATTORNEY SENT LETTER ON BEHALF OF CLIENT IN REGARDS TO CONSUMER APPLYING BRAKES WHILE DRIVING AND THE PASSING GEAR FAILED TO DISENGAGE *TGW THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO PASS A SMALL MOTORHOME. AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE EASTBOUND LANE, A VEHICLE CAME AROUND A CURVE HEADING WEST. THE CONSUMER DECIDED AGAINST PASSING AND IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PASSING GEAR FAILED TO DISENGAGE. THE GAS PEDAL LOCKED TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. AS THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, THE CONSUMER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE AND MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO THE EASTBOUND LANE. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT FULL THROTTLE, EVEN THOUGH SHE KEPT HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHILE APPLYING AS MUCH PRESSURE AS SHE COULD. SHE THEN PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR, WITH HER FOOT STILL PRESSING FULL-FORCE ON THE BRAKE. ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AT FULL THROTTLE, SHE WAS ABLE TO REDUCE THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE AND CAME TO A STOP. AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN THE PARK POSITION, THE ENGINE SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WAS STILL RACING AND SHE CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE. ONLY AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, DID THE ENGINE STOP. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE COOL OFF, BECAUSE THE FRONT END WAS HOT AND THE REAR END SMELLED LIKE HOT BRAKES AND BURNED RUBBER, THE GAS PEDAL WAS STILL STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO INTERFERENCE FROM THE FLOOR MAT. THE PEDAL WAS STUCK AT THE UPPER PART OF THE PEDAL CLOSEST TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. SHE REACHED DOWN AND FORCEFULLY PULLED THE GAS PEDAL UPWARD TO RETURN IT TO ITS NORMAL POSITION. DURING THAT ACTION, SHE HEARD A SOUND OF A CLICK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.*JB

THE CONSUMER STATED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION OCCURRED AS SHE WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE HEARD THE ENGINE RACING AND THE ACCELERATOR WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE. THE PEDAL, ONCE AGAIN STUCK TO THE FLOOR. HER HUSBAND HAD PREVIOUSLY ATTACHED A NYLON CORD FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE AUTOMATIC SHIFT CONTROL HANDLE ON THE CONSOLE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CORD TO GET THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO DISENGAGE. SHE WAS THEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE HOOK THAT SECURED IT. THE FLOOR MAT, HOWEVER WAS NOT LOCATED NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN SHE MOVED THE FLOOR MAT TOWARDS THE DRIVER SEAT, THE ENGINE STOPPED RACING. UPDATED 12/22/11.*JB

THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT AND THE CONTACT USED EXTREME FORCE ON THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF. WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,000.
RECURRING LOW SPEED AND BRAKING UNINTENDED ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH SURGES FROM ABOUT 3200 TO OVER 5000 RPMS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN BRAKING AND WHEN STOPPED OR RIGHT AFTER STARTING UP FROM A STOP. MAY NOT BE A SAFETY PROBLEM BUT THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH THE TOYOTA PROBLEMS. *TR
