TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROD IN THE DOOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO PARTS BEING ON BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V384000 (AIR BAGS). THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER DOOR UNLATCHED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE DOOR WAS CLOSED NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT FAILED TO LATCH SECURELY. THE CONTACT HAD TO HOLD THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FIRMLY WHILE DRIVING. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK WHEN ACCESSING IT WITH A KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FRACTURED AND WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AN UNKNOWN PART WAS REPLACED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,200. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THAT THE DOOR LATCH FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V246000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
RIGHT REAR DOOR ELECTRIC DOOR ACTUATOR JAMMED AND DOOR COULD NOT BE OPEN. HAD TO REMOVE A THREE YEAR OLD CHILD FROM THE RIGHT DOOR SIDE, REMOVED INTER DOOR PANEL AND AL REAR SEAT COMPONENTS, STILL COULD NOT RELEASE DOOR LATCH WHICH WAS JAMMED IN THE LOCKED POSITION. TOOK VEHICLE TO LB SMITH FORD LEMOYNE, PA . THEY HAD IT FOR SIX DAYS. THEY HAD TO BREAK THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR APART, WHICH I HAVE THE OLD ACTUATOR AND CABLE ASSEMBLY. THEY HAD TO ORDER PARTS WHICH THEY DID NOT STOCK. THEY REPLACED DOOR LATCH/LOCK ACTUATOR ASSY. AND INNER DOOR HANDLE CABLE. TOTAL COST WAS $247.06 PARTS AND $232.50 LABOR. MY PROBLEM IS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE WE TRANSPORT YOUNG CHILDREN. IN AN EMERGENCY HOW DOES SOME ONE GET THE DOORS OPEN. JAWS OF LIFE?NO SIGNS OF FAILURE BEFORE THIS. JUST FAILED PICKING UP THE CHILDREN AND NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE RIGHT REAR DOOR.
DRIVERS DOOR LATCH IS NOT WORKING FROM THE INSIDE. MUST LOWER WINDOW AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS IT NOT SAFE IN AN EMERGENCY WHEN YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR IMMEDIATELY. *TR
DRIVER SIDE, REAR DOOR OPENED, PASSENGERS EXITED. I, MYSELF, CLOSED THE DOOR BEHIND THEM AND THE DOOR SIMPLY FLEW BACK OPEN. DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. DOOR WILL NOT SHUT. NOT MANUALLY, NOT BY KEY. LOCKING MECHANISM ON CAR WILL NOT WORK. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN THE BACK SEAT AND LITERALLY HOLD THE DOOR SHUT SO THAT MY PASSENGERS WOULD NOT FALL OUT OF THE CAR. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND ONE ON THE WAY. I CANNOT SIT IN THE BACK AND HOLD THE DOOR SHUT IF I NEED TO USE THE CAR. CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED, ALL SERVICE'S DONE STRICTLY BY FORD. I WAS QUOTED A PRICE RANGE OF $3-400 TO GET IT FIXED. *JS
WHILE L WAS DRIVING ON WET PAVEMENT WITH THE SPEED CONTROL ENGAGED AND SET TO 35 MPH, I ROUNDED THE TOP OF A HILL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SPEED UP AS USUAL. I APPLIED THE BRAKES LIGHTLY TO MAINTAIN 35 MPH AND THE SPEED CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE AND SPUN THE LEFT FRONT TIRE UNTIL BLACK SMOKE WAS ROLLING OUT FROM UNDER THE FENDER. IT LASTED A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT RELEASED. I HAD A FORD DEALER CHECK THE BRAKES TO SEE IF THE LEFT FRONT CALIPER HAD A PROBLEM AND THEY DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THEY ALSO HAD NO SOLUTION FOR THE SPEED CONTROL FAILING TO DISENGAGE. NOTE: THE DAYTIME PHONE IS USELESS SINCE I AM ASSIGNED TO ANOTHER BUILDING AT WORK AWAY FROM THE PHONE ON MY DESK. UPDATED 01/28/14*LJ I CONTACTED FORD ONCE AGAIN AFTER THE THIRD THROTTLE PROBLEM. THE THIRD TIME INVOLVED THE SPEED CONTROL BURNING RUBBER ON A WET ROAD AFTER I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO MAINTAIN SPEED GOING DOWN HILL WITH THE SPEED CONTROL SET FOR 35. THEIR RESPONSE WAS TO IGNORE THE PROBLEM AS USUAL. THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ANY OF MY COMPLAINTS EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER WOULD NOT EVER REPLACE A BROKEN PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE IN THE INSIDE UNTIL IT BROKE OFF COMPLETELY. AFTER THEY REPLACE IT WITH ANOTHER PLASTIC HANDLE THE SPRING CUT THROUGH THE PLASTIC AGAIN, BUT I REALIZED THAT THE PIECE OF PLASTIC THE BROKE OFF WAS STILL IN THE RECESSED AREA FOR THE HANDLE AND WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT TO BREAK OFF COMPLETELY AGAIN IF I HAD NOT REMOVED IT. THE CHROME ALSO PEALED OFF AND CUT MY FINGERS AGAIN SO I SCRAPED IT OFF THE TOP OF THE HANDLE. THEY STILL HAVEN'T CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THAT. FOR OVER $21,000 THAT I PAID FOR THE CAR, THEY COULD HAVE AT LEAST MADE ONE OUT OF ALUMINUM.
THE INTERIOR DOOR LATCHES ARE KNOWN TO FAIL PREMATURELY DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT. UPON FAILURE THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED WHICH CAN CAUSE A HAZARD IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION SUCH AS A CAR FIRE OR ACCIDENT. *TR

THE DOOR WAS OPENED BY RELEASING THE WINDOW GLASS TO ACCESS THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE OR ENGAGING THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM FIRMLY. IN ADDITION, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE EXHIBITED CRACKS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER WORK AND I HAVE TO REACH OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS AT ALL. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE YET THE DEALER HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL AND THEY DO NOT BACK UP THE PART UNDER ANY WARRANTY. MY FEAR IS THAT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THE DOOR WILL FLY OPEN OR THAT MY VEHICLE WILL BE BROKEN INTO AS THE DOOR NO LONGER LOCKS. *TT

WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO TURN THE LATCH UPWARD IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE LATCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
2007 FORD FUSION SEL AWD; HOOD LATCH REPEATEDLY RELEASES, SOMETIMES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES WHILE CAR IS PARKED AND WHEN RETURNING TO A LOCKED VEHICLE NOTICE THE HOOD IS "POPPED" AND ONLY SAFETY LATCH IS HOOKED.
