EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Ford is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Focus BEV vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured September 15, 2011, through May 6, 2013; and model year 2013 Focus ST vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights, manufactured February 16, 2012, through May 7, 2013. Due to a wiring incompatability, the front side marker lamps may not function. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Fix: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will modify the headlamp assembly wiring, free of charge. The recall began on August 16, 2013. Owners may contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall number is 13C04.

#01. THE PANEL LIGHT ARE NOT WORKING IN MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK SE - THE FUEL WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT WORK EITHER WAY - STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. I NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE IN TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THIS VEHICLE. TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND CHECK WHY THE LIGHTS ARE NOT COMING ON. #2 THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE IS VERY CORRODED. #3. I'MNOTABLE TO PROPERLYOPENCAR FRONT DOOR FROM OUTSIDE ONPASSENGERSIDE. I CAN OPEN THE DOOR BUT EXERTING A GREATER FORCE WHEN I PULL TO OPEN THIS DOOR THAN THE REST OF THE DOORS.*DT *TR
I KEEP RECEIVING A BRAKE LIGHT ERROR MESSAGE. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT THE SAME TIME AS THE HEADLIGHT. IT IS OUT AGAIN. THE MESSAGE COMES ON WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND PERIODICALLY WHILE DRIVING.
HEADLIGHT ON THE RIGHT SIDE DID NOT WORK. THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS LOW BEAM DIP. I HAD THE SOCKET REPLACED THREE WEEKS AGO. THE HEADLIGHT WORKED FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS.
THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING SOCKET MELTED IN NOVEMBER 2018, CAUSING THE LAMP TO FAIL AND THE REPLACEMENT OF THE HOUSING. AFTER REPLACING THE SOCKET AND BULB, THE SAME THING JUST HAPPENED (MARCH 31, 2019). THE HEADLAMP IS UNUSABLE UNLESS HOUSING AND BULB ARE COMPLETELY REPLACED. THERE IS FEAR OF A FIRE OCCURRING.
THE VEHICLE DIP BEAM BULB (LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS) BURN OUT, ON AVERAGE EVERY THREE TO FOUR MONTHS. WE HAVE REPLACED SAID BULBS (BOTH LEFT LOW BEAM AND RIGHT LOW BEAM) AT LEAST SIX TIMES IN THE APPROXIMATE TWO PLUS YEARS WE HAVE OWNED SAID VEHICLE. MOST RECENT EVENT, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2018
LEFT SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHERE IT WORKS AND DOESN'T WORK. CHANGED THE BULB AND THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. DISCOVERED THE PLUG IN THE WIRING HARNESS THAT GOES TO THE BULB LOOKS CRACKED. THE BULB TESTS OK. THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY DAMAGE TO THIS VEHICLE RELATED TO THE HEADLIGHT ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE IS A DIPPED BEAM FAULT COMING UP ON THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP BULBS WERE REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE IMMEDIATELY RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESS HAD MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
2012 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT SWITCH TO BRIGHT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEADLIGHTS REMAINED ON DIM AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH THEM OFF AND THEY WOULD COME ON, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER REPEATEDLY FOR THE DEFECT. ON THE LAST OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED NORMALLY FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT RETURNED TO ITS ORIGINAL PROBLEM WITHIN A FEW DAYS. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS, WHERE THE HEADLIGHTS SIMPLY CEASED TO WORK WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. *JB
I TURNED ONTO A TWO LANE STREET (ONE LANE IN EACH DIRECTION). THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS STOPPED DUE A RED LIGHT. AN SUV PULLED OUT OF A PARKING LOT BETWEEN TWO OF THE CARS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN AND TRIED TO CUT ACROSS MY LANE ALSO, BUT HIT MY CAR INSTEAD. I DRIVE A FORD FOCUS, A SMALL CAR. I WAS HIT ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT FENDER AND DOOR. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE FENDER AND MIRROR WERE TORN COMPLETELY OFF OF THE CAR. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS DAMAGED, AND SOMETHING WAS BENT, SO THAT THE TIRE COULD NO LONGER BE SET IN A STRAIGHT POSITION. THE HOOD WAS BENT, AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS HANGING FROM THE CAR. THE INTERIOR PORTION OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE FOOT WELL CAVED INWARD AND HIT MY LEGS. THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS HIT SO HARD THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, AND I HAD TO UNTANGLE MY FEET, AND EXIT THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. MY TINY CAR WAS HIT BY AN SUV THAT HAD "PUNCHED" THE GAS TO TRY AND CROSS IN FRONT OF ME- BUT HIT MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR INSTEAD. THERE WAS A GREAT DEAL OF DAMAGE DONE TO MY CAR, BUT MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. I'VE HEARD OF AIRBAGS GOING OFF WHEN SOMEONE BARELY HIT SOMETHING WITH THEIR BUMPER, YET I GOT HIT DIRECTLY IN MY DOOR, AT A DECENT RATE OF SPEED BY AN AUTOMOBILE TWICE THE SIZE OF MINE, AND MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NOT MY FRONT AIRBAG, NOR MY SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS. I HAVE TO BELIEVE THIS IS SOME TYPE OF DEFECT. *TR
