Engine2 issues
criticalENGINE
FireFiled: Sep 2022

Your engine caught fire while you were driving, causing complete engine damage. This happened despite normal fluid levels and without the engine overheating first. The cause is unknown. You'll likely need a full engine replacement or rebuild to restore your vehicle to working condition.

NHTSA #: 11482834
highENGINE
Filed: Oct 2020

While your car is stopped, you notice it bouncing up and down. A mechanic diagnosed this as defective engine mounts that need immediate replacement. The bouncing happens because the mounts that hold your engine in place have worn out or failed, allowing excessive movement. Replacing the engine mounts should stop the bouncing and prevent further engine damage.

NHTSA #: 11366478
Air Bags,seat Belts,service Brakes1 issue
criticalAIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS,SERVICE BRAKES
CrashFiled: Nov 2023

During a rear-end accident, your airbags failed to deploy and your seat belt didn't restrain you properly, allowing your chest to hit the steering wheel and fracture your sternum. When you pressed the brakes hard, the car didn't slow down as expected. This combination of safety system failures resulted in serious injury requiring hospitalization. These issues may involve inspection and repair of the airbag system, seat belt tensioners, and brake system components.

NHTSA #: 11553214
Electrical System,exterior Lighting1 issue
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Filed: Mar 2021

Your car's left-side lights (front to back) keep turning off because a fuse repeatedly blows out and needs replacement. The problem is caused by an electrical harness that's arcing and losing its protective insulation, which could have caused a fire if not repaired. The issue started about 2 years ago with bulbs burning out, then progressed to fuse failures beginning in January 2021. Replacing the damaged electrical harness should permanently fix the problem.

NHTSA #: 11404992
Latches/locks/linkages1 issue
criticalLATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES
Filed: Nov 2019

Your rear passenger door unexpectedly swung open while driving at an unknown speed, with no warning lights to alert you beforehand. Additionally, both rear doors later failed to open properly. The door latch mechanism may need inspection and repair to ensure the doors stay securely closed and operate as intended.

Power Train,vehicle Speed Control,unknown Or Other1 issue
criticalPOWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Filed: Jul 2019

Your car has unpredictable acceleration problems—when you press the gas pedal, it may not respond at all, rev the engine without moving, or suddenly lurch forward without warning. This happens whether you're starting from a stop or driving on the highway, and the car sometimes accelerates on its own. You may also notice the car lurching sideways while driving at speeds of 60 mph or faster, making it unsafe to drive.

NHTSA #: 11233592
Electrical System,unknown Or Other1 issue
criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Filed: Apr 2019

Your back doors won't latch or lock properly and have opened while driving, forcing you to use zip ties to hold them closed. This is a serious safety issue that makes the car unsafe for transporting passengers. Fixing this will likely involve replacing or repairing the door latch mechanisms and lock hardware.

NHTSA #: 11203954
Unknown Or Other1 issue
criticalUNKNOWN OR OTHER
Filed: Dec 2018

Your idler pulley bolt has broken four times in two years, and each time it broke, you nearly lost control of the vehicle. When the bolt breaks, the pulley fails unexpectedly while driving, creating a serious safety hazard. Ford has dismissed your concerns despite your reports of the same problem affecting other Ford owners. The fix will likely involve replacing the idler pulley bolt with a stronger or reinforced version, possibly as part of a broader serpentine belt system repair.

Filed: Sep 2018

Your airbags have deployed. This is a critical safety issue that requires immediate inspection and replacement of the airbag system components.

Filed: Jun 2020

Your car's frame has significant rust and holes in it, which is preventing it from passing inspection. This is a structural integrity issue that will need to be addressed before your vehicle can be legally certified.

NHTSA #: 11331823
Exterior Lighting,seat Belts,engine1 issue
highEXTERIOR LIGHTING,SEAT BELTS,ENGINE
Filed: Apr 2020

Your engine is rattling and vibrating excessively, which suggests the motor mounts are worn out. Your tail light won't turn on even after replacing the fuse, bulb, and socket. Additionally, your driver's side seat belt gets stuck and won't retract or deploy smoothly. You'll likely need to replace the motor mounts, diagnose the tail light wiring or electrical connection, and repair or replace the seat belt mechanism.

NHTSA #: 11321646
Power Train1 issue
highPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Feb 2020

Your car shudders or jerks abnormally when you try to move from a stopped position. Multiple repair attempts at different Ford dealerships have not resolved the issue, including a transmission repair for a defective ring. The shuddering keeps coming back even after the transmission work was done.

NHTSA #: 11310346
Electrical System,vehicle Speed Control1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Filed: Oct 2019

Your accelerator pedal became stuck while parking at low speed, though you were able to stop safely by shifting to neutral. You had noticed the gas pedal required more effort earlier that day, but the problem seemed to resolve after the car sat for several hours. Additionally, your headlights frequently flicker on and off while driving, sometimes affecting just one side, and the issue keeps returning even after repairs—you've had to manually adjust the wires at the headlight connections to get them working. Both issues likely involve loose or corroded electrical connections that will need to be inspected and repaired at the affected components.

NHTSA #: 11265990
Structure1 issue
highSTRUCTURE
Filed: Sep 2019

Your front door handles have stopped working, making it impossible to open the doors from the outside. This leaves you unable to access your vehicle. The fix will likely involve replacing the door handle mechanism or repairing the internal linkage that connects the handle to the door latch.

Filed: Apr 2019

Your exhaust manifold is making noise and leaking where it connects to the engine. You may notice the car stalling occasionally on the highway and seem to be losing power, possibly due to air being sucked into the exhaust system. The muffler and exhaust system appear to have multiple problems that need repair.

NHTSA #: 11195328
Electrical System,structure1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE
Filed: Jan 2019

The wiring harness between your hatch door and body has deteriorated, with a broken wire for the license plate light and cracked or missing insulation on other wires. This creates a potential hazard because damaged wiring could cause electrical shorts that might disable all your rear lights. You'll need to have the wiring harness replaced or repaired to restore proper function and eliminate the short-circuit risk.

NHTSA #: 11165585
Electrical System1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Nov 2018

Your car's master key stopped working properly for locking and unlocking, forcing you to rely on the key fob instead. In cold weather below 30 degrees, your car hesitates to start and struggles to stay running. You've also noticed an abnormal noise coming from the engine area. A mechanic inspected the vehicle but couldn't identify the root cause, and the dealership was unable to diagnose the issues. Diagnosis will likely require specialized electrical and engine diagnostics to identify the key switch failure and cold-weather starting problem.

NHTSA #: 11151964
Wheels1 issue
mediumWHEELS
Filed: Jan 2020

You purchased four tires with a 70,000-mile warranty in July 2015, but they went flat and wore down to unsafe levels after only 46,841 miles, leaving 23,159 miles remaining on the warranty. You had to replace them with cheaper tires before the warranty period was fulfilled. The tire replacement will involve purchasing new tires and having them professionally installed and balanced.
