Your 2001 Ford Explorer has started leaking from the roof without any visible damage, and the source of the leak cannot be located. Water has accumulated inside, causing mold to grow throughout the interior, which poses a health risk to you and your passengers. Finding and sealing the leak source, along with treating the mold contamination, will be necessary to resolve this issue.

Your exterior door handle keeps breaking, and you can't open the door normally without using the back door instead. This has happened repeatedly—you've replaced the handles three times in two years. In an emergency situation like an accident, a broken door handle could prevent someone from getting you out of the vehicle quickly.

PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE ONLY OPENS FROM INSIDE. PASSENGER REAR DOOR ONLY OPENS FROM OUTSIDE. DRIVERS SIDE REAR ONLY OPENS FROM OUTSIDE. 3 OUT OF 4 DOORS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN WHO ARE IN REAR CAR SEATS AND CAN'T GET THEM OUT IF EMERGENCY!!! THIS SHOULD BE RECALL WITH THIS MANY COMPLAINTS ON SAME MODEL AND BECAUSE IT POSES SAFETY ISSUE
BACK DOORS OF MY 2001 FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC FX4 4X4 DO NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THE CHILD SAFELY LOCKS ARE NOT ON. WE JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED, WE NOTICED THE DOOR DID NOT OPEN AT THE DEALERS, THEY SAID IT WOULD BE FIXED. UPON PICKING UP THE TRUCK WE WERE TOLD IT WAS BECAUSE THE CHILD SAFELY LOCK WAS ON. THIS IS NOT TRUE BECAUSE THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS DO NOT KEEP YOU FROM OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THEY DID SOMETHING THAT ALOUD THE DOOR TO OPEN FOR ABOUT 30 MINS, WE GOT HOME AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN. THIS IS NOT SAFE, WE COULD NOT GET MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OUT OF THE TRUCK. GOD FOR BID IF THE TRUCK EVER WAS ON FIRE WE COULD NOT GET TO HER. *TR
PAINT STARTING CRACKING ON ROOF AND HOOD OF TRUCK. NOW THE PAINT IS STARTING TO CHIP ON THE ROOF OF THE TRUCK. TRUCK WAS WAXED OFTEN AND TAKEN CARE OF. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THIS PROBELM YET. *NM

BEGINNING ROUGHLY ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASE (10/2000) I HAVE DETECTED AT TIMES A STRONG OILY VAPOR ODOR WITHIN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. THE ODOR IMPREGNATES MY CLOTHING AND EXPOSED SKIN AND HAS CAUSED MINOR (AT THIS TIME, AT LEAST) RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS. I AM FORCED ON THESE OCCASIONS, WEATHER PERMITTING, TO RIDE WITH MY WINDOWS DOWN TO LESSEN THE EFFECT. THE OCCURRENCE IS INTERMITTENT AND I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO PINPOINT CAUSING FACTORS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM (4 VISITS), SUGGESTING THAT IT'S JUST THE AIR BEING BROUGHT INTO THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. TS
HEADLIGHTS TOO BRIGHT (LOW BEAMS SPECIFAICALLY)
THIS IS PART OF A FORD "OWNER NOTIFICATION PROGRAM 00M12" ABOUT A COMMONLY KNOWN PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE WHICH FORD REFUSES TO FIX. DT
