Your check engine light turned on three weeks after purchase with a cylinder 4 misfire code, and you noticed white smoke from the exhaust and low coolant levels. A technician found coolant leaking into the engine through cylinder 4, which Ford has acknowledged as a known issue for your vehicle's model and VIN. Ford has refused to cover the $7,000 cost to replace the engine block despite the vehicle having fewer than 1,000 miles. Fixing this will likely require replacing the entire engine block or having the cylinder head removed and resealed to stop the coolant leak.

Your 2019 Ford Escape had a diagnostic code (P0304) that typically indicates a tune-up is needed, but the dealership told you the engine needs replacement at a cost of $14,000 without explaining why. You experienced rough running, low coolant, and smoke from the exhaust before this diagnosis, and you believe this issue may be covered under a recall based on your vehicle's mileage and age. The repair will likely involve engine replacement or significant internal engine work.

Your car lost all its coolant, and after refilling it, a check engine light appeared indicating cylinder 3 misfiring. A mechanic replaced the spark plug and coil for cylinder 3, but the problem returned within 10 miles. After months of diagnostics, a coolant leak was identified as the root cause, which is causing the misfire and could lead to complete engine failure if not repaired. Fixing this will likely require removing and replacing the entire engine.

Filed: Feb 2026

Your 2019 Ford Escape is losing coolant into the engine cylinders, which has caused the engine to overheat, run loudly, shake during idle and driving, and eventually stop working completely mid-trip. You've had the car for a year and a half with regular maintenance, but multiple diagnostic visits didn't identify the root cause until the engine became undrivable. A Ford specialist inspected it and determined the damage has severely reduced your car's value. Fixing this will likely require cylinder head repair or replacement to seal the coolant leak and restore engine function.

Your 2019 Escape is showing a check engine light with a cylinder 4 misfire code and rough idle. A Ford technician found coolant leaking into the engine using a borescope inspection. Ford has acknowledged this is a known issue for your vehicle's model and VIN through a Technical Service Bulletin, but is refusing to cover the $14,000 engine replacement cost. Repair will require replacing the long block engine to stop the coolant intrusion.

Your car lost power and displayed an engine failure warning message on the dashboard, indicating overheating. You heard a noise coming from the engine about a month before the breakdown but hadn't scheduled service yet. The issue appears to involve the water pump pulley or water pump. Repairs will likely involve replacing the water pump and possibly the pulley to restore cooling system function.

Your 2019 Ford Escape has coolant leaking into the engine, causing rough idling, thick white smoke from the exhaust, and the coolant level to drop immediately after refilling. Ford has a customer satisfaction program for identical issues on 2019 Escapes built before May 2019, but your vehicle (built in May 2019) was excluded from the program. Ford's recall team has refused to offer a goodwill repair and will only communicate by mail, not by phone.

I went to get my spark plugs changed as maintenance on my vehicle. The plugs on both the second and third cylinder were very tight and breaking with residue all over the plugs. The shop I took my car to had to send it to another shop in order to get the plugs put back into the engine. Since then it sounds like a blown muffler whenever I start my car and I have a check engine light with a third cylinder misfire. I have also been having white smoke whenever I start my car with a cool engine. I tried seeing about getting the car fixed but mechanics don’t want to touch my car because they said it will not fix the issue because this is a manufacturer defect caused by coolant intrusion. Now I have to sell my car and. I am under because I still owe 6340.95 on my Loan. The most I can get for it is $3300 through Carvana. The car has less 96,092 miles.

I am reporting a safety-related engine defect on my 2019 Ford Escape (2.0L EcoBoost). On September 23, 2025, at 72,233 miles, the engine failed due to coolant leaking into the combustion chamber (cylinder #3). Ford’s own dealer confirmed coolant intrusion and referenced Ford TSB 22-2239. This issue is associated with known EcoBoost coolant-intrusion failures documented in multiple Ford bulletins and class-action suits. The engine failure required a complete long-block replacement costing $8,644.38. Ford denied assistance despite the failure occurring within the extended 7-year/84,000-mile coverage window under Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12. Coolant intrusion can cause sudden engine failure, stalling, loss of power, or inability to accelerate, creating a hazardous driving condition. I request NHTSA review this defect as part of the widespread EcoBoost coolant-intrusion problem. Owner: [XXX] , [XXX] . VIN: [XXX] . On returning from vacation, the check engine light came on. Pulled vehicle into auto parts store for a computer diagnosis's, computer said spark plug issue. Took the vehicle next day to my technician for diagnosis's and repair. The mechanic had difficulty removing the Number two(2) spark plug. After using light and scope to examine the interior of the number two(2) cylinder, traces of coolant was found inside to cylinder. The mechanic researched it online and said there was a problem with the 2000 teen model Ford Escapes with a crack in the engine block. I took the car three weeks later to the Ford dealership where the vehicle was purchased from because the SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT NOW came on. I was told there was nothing they could do and I was asked to leave. One of the other personnel that worked at the dealership overheard our conversation and stepped in and told his coworker that even though we were over on the recall mileage for this issue we were still inside of the seven year window for the recall. I was given the Ford Customer Service toll free number to report this issue, and was told not to tell anyone where or how I got that number and would you be so nice and leave and take the vehicle with you.

2019 Ford Escape 1.5L EcoBoost. 74,000 miles. Check engine light came on out of nowhere. Had auto shop read the code and it was a misfire of cylinder 3 and needed ignition coil and spark plug replaced. A few days later the message "High Engine Temperature, Stop Safely" came on and the engine temperature shot up to High. Pulled over and let it cool down. Started driving it again and it shot back up to High again. Took the car to a mechanic who did a compression test and said that the coolant ran green which meant the coolant is infiltrating the cylinders. Per another mechanic this is a known problem with 2019 Ford Escapes that the engine is a open deck block that allows the cylinders to move and be unstable. Ford knows this problem but never put a recall out!

My 2019 has the coolant intrusion in cylinder 2 issue. The dealership recommended a long block replacement and quoted me $10,850 to do this. It is a safety concern and I was advised not to drive it. The engine could seize if not repaired and put myself and others in danger. The extended warranty I had purchased expired a couple weeks before this happened. I understand there a many people experiencing the same issue and that there are some class action lawsuits regarding this as well. That may take years to resolve and in the end it won’t make us whole though. I’m submitting this to you today hoping this issue will be considered for a recall. Thank you for any help with this matter and could I trouble you to please advise me as to what if anything I can do regarding this matter? Kind Regards, Nancy York

My Escape has about 73,000 miles on it and the check engine light went off last week when I started the car. The car itself was shaking in a very strange way. I brought it to a repair shop and they said there was coolant leaking into one of the cylinders. This was going to require a full engine replacement at the cost of about $9,000. They reached out to Ford and there was a pre-existing set of instructions on how to deal with this issue, so it was clear this is known to Ford on this model of car. If it was my vehicle only, I'd say I'd cut my losses and just get a new car, but I've read dozens of stories online about this issue and saw a temporary recall from back in 2022 for this exact problem. There are also many class action lawsuits active that name my make and model and the same coolant issues. I am attempting to escalate this with Ford as the technician said I maybe have two weeks before the engine fails altogether, which is obviously a huge danger to me and my family. Hoping Ford can be forced to do the right thing and issue a recall. I am in a tough spot where my family has a single car and either need to pay the large repair bill or pay-off an equivalent sized loan in order to trade in this car (with these known issues) for a new vehicle in the next few days.

According to my local ford dealership, the rattling/clicking sound in my engine is due to a faulty water pump which is apparently a known problem for a 2019 ford escape. I did not even have a check engine light appear and just happened to have my vehicle there for a different reason. This is an extensive and costly fix that should not be an issue with a 6 year old vehicle with 77k miles. With this being a common/known fault for EcoSport engines, it affects the safety of my engine and all passengers and other drivers.

My 2019 Ford Escape 2.0 Titanium has a KNOWN coolant intrusion issue where it is leaking into the engine. This began as my car shook on startup, then the check engine light would come on. Drove it a little ways, check engine turned off. Took my car into the repair shop and they looked up the stored code and it was P0301 cylinder #1 misfire detected and P0316 misfire detected on start up first 1,000 revolutions. Car seemed ok, so took it back. Happened again, 2x, check engine light on, off, then on again when I brought it back in. Same codes again. Mechanic said coolant low, removed cylinder #1 spark plug and sent camera into cylinder, found coolant leaking into cylinder. They said I need an entirely new engine, as this has been occurring a LOT with these EcoBoost vehicles. Ford had an open recall but only acknowledged a small amount of vehicles, mine not one of them, and there is currently a lawsuit against Ford because this has been happening to so many people. We are getting nowhere with Ford, they won't acknowledge the issue on the EcoBoost and now we have to come up with nearly $10k to replace an entire engine when the car isn't even worth $8k. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS! Some people are having this issue at 50K Miles!!! This is not ok!!

Code was P303 and P316 indicating a misfire. the car was found to have coolant intrusion in cylinder 3 and would need a long block replacement. reference used was TSB 22-2229. This type of engine failure is know to ford due to design of coolant channels between cylinders. This could have cause sudden engine failure while drive resulting in an accident and injury or engine fire due to insufficient cooling causing loss of property and/or injury.

This leakage will definitely put myself and others at risk when my vehicle breaks down. The check engine light appeared on Thursday, July 31st. I brought the car immediately to the dealership. There is a know recall notice for this exact issue, however we were told it only covers up 85,000 miles and our vehicle has 94,000 miles. We had brought it to a Ford dealership for an oil change 6 months prior and they didn't say anything about it. My engine had a coolant leak a few years ago (2021) and needed a complete engine replacement since the car would no longer run. Since it was under warranty then it was replaced. However, the engine once again has had a major issue with the engine bearing and needs another full replacement and will no longer run. Many people are struggling with needing to get full engine replacements on Ford Escapes. There are Ford retailers keeping stocks of Ford Escape engines in preparation for these engine replacements, but Ford has refused to offer any assistance for this known issue. Requiring a 2nd full engine replacement at the value of the car itself is absurd. I received a warning message on my car, but when I took it in to have the issue assessed - it was notified as a minor gas cap issue.

The car had a rough idle (only for the first few minutes) for one day before the engine light came on. The car was taken to the dealership on the third day (less than 20mi of driving between the light coming on and the car being inspected). According to their scans, my 2.0L engine is experiencing water (coolant) intrusion into the clyinders (after only 5 years of service). The Ford technician said it is TSB 22-2229 (a known issue since 2019 TSB 19-2172). There are currently no NHTSA Customer Satisfaction Programs or recalls for this TSB, which is astonishing, as there is one for the 1.5L engine made in the same plant AND Ford completely redesigned the engine because they know it is so bad. The fix is to completely replace the engine ($10,000-$15,000). The danger is that the manufacturer knew there was risk of water intrusion, which can crack the block…this could leave the vehicle in a dangerous situation if driving at highway speeds or in heavy traffic.

The failed component is the coolant leaking into cyl 4 TSB 22-2229 which has been a problem with this model in the 1.5 L turbo before. This model is the 2.0L turbo but having the same problem. According to the dealership, "This is the entire process need to either rebuild or replace the vehicle's engine. This is a process needed when the vehicle's engine is in need of serious repair." Reasoning according to the dealer: "Without replacing or rebuilding a damaged engine, the car will not be able to function and will be left useless." This car has only 46,391 miles on it for 2019 and has been meticulously taken care of since it's purchase in Aug 2021 as a used vehicle from the dealership. After an oil change was completed on the vehicle at 46,300 miles, the check engine light came on and the vehicle was taken into the dealership for it to be assessed. That's when it was found to be cyl 4 that was the problem.

During the month of January my vehicle started to overheat. I pulled over immediately and opened the hood. The coolant was bubbling over and I let it cool down. Once it cooled down I checked the level and noticed it was low. Which was weird since there had not been a leak. I filled it up and went on my way to work. I had my mechanic look at it and there was coolant in the engine. He stated take it to Ford ASAP. Which I did. I had it towed to the ford dealer and was told they would assess it and give me quote for repairs. After a week they cam back with it needs a new engine and the quoted repair was $7800. This car has 80K on it and was purchased from a ford dealer with 33K and was serviced regularly. Zero reason to need an engine unless it was a manufacturing defect. I start to look into recalls and low and behold there is a recall for the same issue from 2017-2019 of April. My car was produced in June I believe. I call Ford Motors and start a claim. After 30 days we finally come to an agreement. I pay $3200.00 and they pay the balance which was helpful considering I was still making payments. Finally get my car back the end of April.

It was diagnosed by a ford dealer that it has a coolant intrusion. It’s available for an inspection as well! Car has been well taken care of with regular oil changes and regular maintenance. I had a coworker in my car as the car overheated 2 times 2 hours away from home on a work day. In rush hour traffic on a 4 lane interstate. And I had to get off on an exit ramp. Almost caused an accident. Took it to a dealer the next day and they confirmed that the car needs a new engine as the engine is faulty. The car only has 79k miles. We’ve put 24k miles on it in 3 years. As it’s a daily driver and been a great car for us… up until now. The car now misfires idling. And it doesn’t run well. And an inconvenience as I have to fill it with coolant everyday to make it 5 miles to work. Ford was contacted by the service department and I, while I was at the ford certified dealership. They said that because the car is out of factory warranty. Mind you under 80k miles. Was nothing they would help with. Even though, they recognize that they made faulty engines for this car between the beginning of 2019 to mid June of 2019. But never wanted to do a recall. As there was 241,388 ford escapes made that year. They accounted for about half of those being faulty. There was no warnings for this problem. One day I took off to meet clients of mine in a town almost 2 hours away. It overheated 2 times on the way home. Took it into the ford certified dealership the next day to find out it needs an engine. I wasn’t not a happy camper as I never experienced any prior problems or warnings. Never an engine light. No spikes in engine temperatures. Just one day it overheated 2 times on the way home. Because the engine started to eat away coolant and never a warning.

I finally was able to get my Ford Escape into a Ford dealership to be inspected and they confirmed that I will need an entire engine replacement because coolant is leaking into cylinder 3. This is exactly the same engine Ford recalled on the 1.5 but not on the 2.0 yet and my Escape is a 2.0. When I spoke to the Ford Company I was given a case number and told it would take several weeks for Ford to send me a letter to see if they will assist in the repair or not. As a [XXX] this is our only vehicle and I'm honestly at a loss as to what I will do without a car for several weeks. My safety and the safety of my children are at risk because if I do try to drive the car until I hear from Ford it stalls in the lower gears leaving us at risk of being hit if I pull out and the Escape doesn't engage fast enough. We are also in danger because if I am not daily putting anti-freeze into the car Ford states that the engine might catch fire. Yes, the vehicle was inspected by Pierre Ford yesterday, Monday, March 24, 2025. I have had an engine light on for a few months and have had to start adding anti-freeze on a regular basis but it was about 2 weeks ago when I had a warning pop up on the digital dash stating, "Engine Fault Service Now". I purchased this car used at a local non-Ford dealership. The car had 50,000 miles on it when purchased. At 51,400 miles, a loud clicking sound could be heard coming from the engine. I took the car to the Ford dealership and they told me the engine needed to be replaced due to a finding lots of small pieces of metal in the oil filter and in other areas after removing the timing chain cover and doing an inspection. They determined I was 1 month out of warranty and stated the new engine would cost $14,000. "Big" Ford, after several months of back and forth, agreed to pay for 50% of the cost. Ford told me that if the engine were to completely "seize" it could have resulted in a major accident on the road. AFTER having the new engine installed, at 54,000 miles there was a burning smell entering the cabin through the vents. I took the vehicle back to the Ford dealership and they told me the valve cover gasket was leaking and needed to be replaced. They said it would not be part of the original warranty of the new engine and I needed to pay $1000 for the repair. After strongly pushing back and calling several other dealerships, the local dealer agreed to do the repair under warranty. I have zero faith in Ford due to this experience.

I have a 2019 Ford Escape Ecoboost, and the engine had to be replaced at 64,000 miles due to an issue with 2017-2019 Ford Escapes, which Ford did not recall. What happens is the engine sucks all of the antifreeze out of its compartment and dumps it onto the engine block, ruining the engine. It's ridiculous that Ford did not recall this issue, as it is terribly costly to replace an engine on a vehicle. What's even more ridiculous is having to replace an engine with so few miles and paying out of pocket when you're still paying for the vehicle. Some have reported having to have their engine replaced at 15,000 on these same vehicles. Ford needs to be held accountable, if not sued over this issue. And, the dealerships are not nice when they have to fix the problem. Worst and most costly experience with a vehicle ever!

The engine in this vehicle has a known design flaw (see Ford Customer Satisfaction Programs 19B37/21N12) that causes the cylinder head gasket to fail at a location that allows coolant to enter the cylinder. Coolant contains chemicals like ethylene glycol or propylene glycol. While not easily flammable at room temperature, coolant can catch fire if it reaches its autoignition temperature, which can happen when exposed to the extreme heat and pressure inside an engine cylinder during combustion. The gasket failure also exposes the coolant passages within the cylinder head to these extreme temperatures and allows exhaust gases to enter through the failure location. Additionally, the coolant leak will also cause the engine to run at a higher temperature and the increased heat can further elevate the fire risk. Ford admits to this issue and will replace the engine in affected vehicles through Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12, however this program conveniently expired in November 2022, before most owners were made aware of the issue. This extremely dangerous defect does not become less dangerous with the passage of time and there should be no time limit on this repair. Either a class action lawsuit or action by the NHTSA will be required to force Ford to make these repairs. My own vehicle has been parked and not driven for well over a year due to this issue. It was replaced with a Chevrolet Traverse and I refuse to sell the defective Ford Escape to an unsuspecting buyer who would unwittingly be putting their family’s lives in danger.

I regularly serviced my vehicle several times a year at ford and never once received any sort of recall alerts in the mail, email or ford app nor did any the of ford service technicians mentioned anything during service appointments. My check engine light first came on in June 2024 (3 months ago), and said there were too many cylinder 4 misfires, and to replace the spark plugs. This was done, check engine light was cleared. My car began showing an "engine fault, service now" error 2.5 weeks ago and it sounded like water was "rushing" in the engine. The check engine light came on 3 days later, got the codes read, took it to a mechanic, then exchanged the ignition coil. When I went to pick it up, the car shuddered whenever trying to accelerate, so much so that my car wouldn't accelerate, and I had to have to towed to the Ford dealer. The mechanic confirmed that with the codes and the symptoms, and he previously worked at Ford, there is a coolant leak into the engine block and I would likely need a new engine. There is a Technical Service Bulletin out for this issue, so they know it exists. The dealer has not confirmed the issue yet, they said it will probably take 2 weeks before they get to that, then it would likely be 1-3 months to get the parts here, then they would start repairing it, but there were 3 vehicles ahead of mine with the exact same issue. My safety was put at risk because the car would not accelerate to the speed limit, increasing likelihood of a wreck, and the engine felt like it was going to die at any moment when I returned the one block back to the mechanic.

This Ford Escape has a known engine problem that results in a spark plug seizing into the engine block. This known issue causes the motor to hesitate, run poorly, become sluggish and ultimately fail potentially in traffic. This concern becomes a danger to other drivers as well as the owner of the vehicle. The dealership immediately knew of the concern was aware of the problem when we called. It took them minute to confirm the problem and they stated to us, "we've seen this problem, on this specific engine a number of time." Ford is aware of the problem and provides some or no assistance to consumers. They are provide some assistance to my family, but I'm not sure why they are not fixing the known problem at Ford's total expense. This specific vehicle has 55,000 miles and is 2 month outside of the 60 month engine and drivetrain warranty. Ford customer service will not advance our conversation beyond the dealership requesting help for a known issue. My sisters safety was at risk before identifying the concern. Ford is making her pay $4700 and a 3 week car rental to repair for their known issue. This seems blatantly unfair and unsafe to consumers. sincerely

Coolant reservoir was empty and filled several times prior to inspection by the same dealership where the car was purchased. Inspection happened 11 days later, car was driven about 100 miles between first noticing the empty coolant tank and the date of service. During inspection and diagnostic, coolant was found leaking into cylinder along with a broken head gasket and a cracked engine block. Since getting service at the dealer, car has been observed to be lurching when accelerating at either highway speeds or high RPM (unsure of precise onset of symptom), creating worries that diagnosing the problem has accelerated the engine deterioration.

I took it to Perry County Tire in Hazard KY and they said it needed a new ignition coil and 4 new spark plugs. They replaced the coil and all spark plugs. The CEL came back on a few days later, giving the same cylinder 3 misfire code. I then took it back and they replace the ignition coil again. The CEL came back on about 4 days later and I took it back, now seeing a puff of white smoke when I start the car and put it into reverse. They said my coolant was low and I have an intrusion and then referred me to another service center because they did not do engine or gasket repairs.

While driving on the highway, the engine suddenly started sputtering, and it could no longer maintain speed (up to about 25-30 mph). This was very unsafe on a highway no safe place to bring the car to a stop. The Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as coolant leaking into the cylinders in the engine because of cracked channels. They shared with me this is a known issue (Customer Satisfaction Program 21N12), however, my car is 3 thousand miles over the maximum limit of this program, so they will not fix the problem for free. The dealership suggested a full engine replacement, for which they estimated about $9,800 for the repair. This issue comes after a previous issue a few months ago where my wife was driving and the engine overheated, went into "safe mode," and she was unable to accelerate beyond about 10-15 mph. She was on a busy road and called me in tears after managing to bring the car to a stop on the side of a road without a large shoulder. At the time, the mechanic said it was only a thermostat that was stuck wide open, and I spent $1,200 on this repair. I continued to notice low coolant levels and would refill the coolant regularly. This issue persisted and led to the above failure. Ford knows this is an issue with their vehicles, and they have created two dangerous safety instances for my family in the past few months. There are 27, now 28 complaints related to this issue on 2019 Ford Escapes alone. I also learned there is a class action lawsuit related to this issue. Those complaints are Complaints # 11568017, 11561318, 11556483, 11551020, 11550783, 11542737, 11537997, 11534353, 11528142, 11520853, 11516926, 11498957, 11492059, 11489799, 11482570, 11482636, 11463646, 11453678, 11440977, 11437303, 11427846, 11385495, 11353322, 11330042, 11323757, 11311097, 11307636. For the past few months I have been noticing a hot coolant smell from outside the vehicle. After investigating, I noticed the coolant level was low and there was residue on the valve cover. Afterwards, I refilled the coolant reservoir and continued driving for another week to make sure the coolant was leaking. Afterwards, I inspected the vehicle further to check for any external leaks and could not find any, but my reservoir was much lower when I check again. I then made an appointment with the dealership to see if they could find anything. They kept my vehicle for a day to run a pressure test, but oddly enough it passed the pressure test and they could not find any leaks. I only have 3000 miles left before the warranty expires and the service manager told me it would be fine to drive on our trip that we were getting ready to take. I did not take it on the trip because I was worried something catastrophic to the engine would happen. The dealership did not fix my problem at all. They just said it would be fine. I have to add about 1 quart of coolant every week to two weeks, which is definitely not “fine”. Ford has a service bulletin for my engine and they need replaced! They are intentionally trying to get away with not fixing the engine while it is still under warranty. There is even a class action lawsuit with this as well, as people are being scammed into paying for a whole new engine when it should have been paid for by Ford Mo Co. My vehicle is 2 yrs old and began having purge valve issues. Upon trying to fix the problem, I found that the part is on back order with no parts available anywhere in my region. Also while trying to locate the purge valve, part number: Gv6z9d289e, I found that several other people were also trying to locate the part indicating this is an issue in several vehicles. The vehicle vapor locks upon fueling possibly resulting in future engine damage.

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10169807-0001.pdf My coolant is leaking into my cylinder. Making my car misfire and have P0301 code. Cylinder and spark plugs have been replaced. But error is still coming and coolant get lower every day. This needs to be recalled as many people are having this issue. Its not our fault and shouldn't have to pay to replace the short block and engine for a car's manufacturing issues. The car doesn't run right and its very pricey to fix.

Our check engine light came on in our 2019 Ford Escape, which has 80,000 miles. It overheated with no warning. We took it to the dealership who informed us the coolant leaked and caused a crack in the engine between the 2nd and 3rd cylinders and said the engine needs to be completely replaced.

At 44,000 miles Engine began to idle badly on startup and misfire. Engine light came on during drive home after work. Stopped vehicle and had it towed to the nearest Ford Dealer. Dealer Service Technician checked codes and reported P0304 cylinder 4 miss fire. Dealer Technician replaced and replaced all four sparks plugs and used 446676 cleaner to clean throttle body, intake, fuel injectors and valve. Few days later engine light returned, took vehicle back to Ford Dealer. Ford Technician checked and road tested vehicle and stated 446676 cleaner may not have finished cleaning systems and that was the cause of the engine light. A few days later engine began to idle badly on startup and misfire again. Then saw white smoke came from the exhaust on startup. Two weeks earlier just had vehicle service maintenance completed by the Ford Dealer. Invoice #233228 and #782806.

Engine began to idle badly on startup and misfire. White smoke came from exhaust on startup. Coolant levels started to decrease. Engine is burning coolant that has leaked into the cylinders due to a defect in the casting of the engine block. Dealership is now saying car needs an entire new engine block. Obviously the previous recall that was addressed did not solve the issue.

STARTING APPROXIMATELY OF APRIL OF THIS YEAR, NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS SURGING AND "MISSING" ON START. THOUGHT IT MAY HAVE BEEN A SPARK PLUG OR SUCH GOING BAD AND IT WASN'T HAPPENING WITH EVERY START. THEN MIDDLE OF MAY, IT WAS DAILY ON EVERY START AND WAS SURGING HARDER AND SPUTTERING. THE TACHOMETER WOULD EVEN RISE AND FALL IN QUICK SUCCESSION. ON MAY 20TH, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK IT TO MY DEALERSHIP. BEFORE EVEN LOOKING AT MY VEHICLE, AFTER DESCRIBING TO THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING, THEY ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG AND WHAT THE REMEDY WOULD BE. THEY STILL PUT MY CAR ON THE COMPUTER AND LOOKED IT OVER, BUT CAME OUT WITH THE CONCLUSION THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED REBUILT. FAST FORWARD 2 MONTHS LATER, FINALLY GOT ALL THE PARTS IN TO REBUILD THE ENGINE, HOWEVER MY DEALERSHIP IS SMALL AND DO NOT HAVE A LOANER VEHICLE FOR ME AT THIS TIME. I AM UNDERSTANDING OF THAT. BUT THE CAR IS NOW DOING THIS ON EVERY START REGARDLESS IF I JUST STOPPED AT THE POST OFFICE FOR 5 MINUTES. THIS MORNING, IT SPUTTERED HARD AND THEN SHUT OFF FOR THE FIRST TIME. IT IS ALSO AFFECTING HOW IT SHIFTS FROM P TO D AND CAN TELL A DIFFERENCE WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. CALLED FORD TO SEE IF THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE, THEY KEPT CIRCLING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE IMPENDING REPAIR. I FINALLY STATED THAT I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF FORD WAS ACKNOWLEDGING THIS ISSUE AND WAS REFERRED TO A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER NAMED JESSICA. SHE CALLS AND WAS LESS THAN FRIENDLY AND KEPT THROWING THE WORD "RECALL" AROUND, BUT THERE IS NO ACTIVE RECALL. SHE KEPT SAYING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS GETTING REPAIRED FOR A RECALL, AND I TOLD HER NO, IT IS GETTING REPAIRED BECAUSE I REPORTED ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. I'M OVER IT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE AND HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD TO HAVE MULTIPLE REBUILDS OF THEIR ENGINE AND THE PROBLEM NEVER SOLVED.

AFTER SPEND ALMOST $30,000 ON MY VEHICLE THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICE! I AM ALSO READING THAT A LAW FIRM IN TENNESSEE IS COLLECTING CLIENTS FOR A LAWSUIT. *TR
