"TAKATA RECALL' - I CANNOT COUNT HOW MANY TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. THE BREAKS JUST REFUSES TO FUNCTION AND THE SPEED WOULD NOT DECREASE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE BREAKS AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. LAST SUNDAY (SEPTEMBER 8,), MY FAMILY AND I ALMOST DIED ON THE WAY TO CHURCH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP!!! IT FINALLY CAME TO A HALT AFTER BEEN STOPPED BY A PAVEMENT. I HAD TO CALL FORD FOR A TOW TRUCK (WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR BUT THEY GAVE ME A DISCOUNT). MY CAR HAS BEEN WITH THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THREE DAYS NOW. THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT - THIS WAS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME AND 1-2 MONTHS LATER, WE ARE BACK AT THE EXACT SAME SPOT!! THERE ARE SEVERAL PEOPLE ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. WHO ELSE IS SUPPOSED TO DIAGNOSE A CAR BUT THE MANUFACTURER?!! IF THE MANUFACTURER CANNOT FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, THEN THE WORLD IS IN BIG TROUBLE. I THANK GOD FOR ALWAYS PROTECTING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION FROM HIGHWAY TO TURNING TO RED LIGHT. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE FOR THE ROAD. **ON THE NEXT PAGE: I ANSWERED YES TO "WAS THERE A CRASH" - I DIDN'T CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, I CRASHED INTO A PAVEMENT AT CHURCH THAT STOPPED THE CAR.

THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE 2012 FORD EDGE USES THE EXACT SAME DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AS USED IN THE ESCAPE AND FUSION WHICH WERE BOTH INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM. FORD SHOULD INCLUDE ALL MODELS THAT USED THIS PART IN ITS EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM OR BETTER YET ISSUE A RECALL. IN MY OPINION IT'S DANGEROUS PULLING OUT INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ONLY TO LOSE POWER. MANY OTHER DANGEROUS SCENARIOS COULD BE EXPECTED.

I WAS TAKING MY 91 YEAR OLD FATHER TO THE DOCTOR WHEN I LOST ALL POWER DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT WAS NOT REACTING WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE. TURNED THE CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND ALL SEEMED TO DO WELL. TOOK TO THE SHOP. WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR. I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN WITH MY FORD FUSION. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO LOSE ALL POWER DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE NO INJURIES OCCURRED BUT FURIOUS TO LEARN THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTIES. VERY EXPENSIVE LESSON THE FIRST TIME. WILL BE EVEN MORE EXPENSIVE THIS TIME.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,984....UPDATED 07/07/16 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON 05/24/16.*JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE NEXT DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSEMBLY WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.

GAS THROTTLE QUIT WORKING. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKED. ENGINE WOULD NOR REV WHEN ACCELERATOR PRESSED. SEE MANUAL LIGHT APPEARED WITH A WRENCH SYMBOL ON DASH. COASTED INTO PARKING LOT AND PUT CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED. EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING. TOOK THE CAR TO FORD DEALER AND NOTHING SHOWS UP ON COMPUTER SCAN AND THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE THEY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE THROTTLE BODY,BUT COULDN'T CONFIRM. I KNOW FORD JUST RECALLED SEVERAL CARS THIS YEAR FOR EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AND ARE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODIES. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING ON OTHER EDGE MODELS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING 65 DOWN THE ROAD AND THERE WAS A THUMP, THE CAR LOST ALL SPEED CONTROL AND COST TO THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. THE MOTOR CONTINUED TO RUN BUT MADE A SPUTTERING SOUND WHILE RUNNING. THE DISPLAY SHOWED A YELLOW WRENCH AND THE DISPLAY SAID TO PRESS OK. I HAD CONTROL OF EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR ACCELERATION THAT I WAS AWARE OF. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT DROVE NORMALLY. I CARRIED THE CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT TOOK A WEEK FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO THEM. IT CAME UP AS A THROTTLE BODY FAULT AND THAT IS WHAT HAS TO BE REPLACED. I GOOGLE THESE SYMPTOMS ON THE INTRANET AND THESE SAME ISSUES POPPED UP ALL OVER THE PLACE. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND I AM GLAD I WASN'T IN BUSY TRAFFIC AND DIDN'T GET HIT BY A TRANSFER TRUCK!! *TR
