TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, THE LOW TIRE SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL SOUND FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE METAL VALVE STEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS CRACKED CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,716. UPDATED *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE VALVE NUT CAME OFF AND THE VALVE STEM AND SENSOR WERE SUCKED INSIDE THE TIRE, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. UPDATED 09/08/15*JB

2010 DODGE JOURNEY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE TIRE ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HIT A POTHOLE, AND A SHORT DISTANCE LATER, A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD, READ THE TIRE WAS UNDER INFLATED. WITHIN MINUTES, HE HAD TO PULL OVER, BECAUSE THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED NOT ONLY DID HE HIT A POTHOLE, BUT THERE WAS PIECE OF METAL THAT MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PLUG THE TIRE. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STEMS BLEW OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE STEMS WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF A CRACKED TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR AND HE ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT ALL FOUR SENSORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000. I AM CURRENTLY THE CO-OWNER ALONG WITH MY WIFE OF 2010 DODGE JOURNEY AWD . WE LIVE IN NORTHWESTERN ERIE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA. THIS AREA TRADITIONALLY RECEIVES 86 PLUS INCHES OF SNOW, AND SNOW COVERED ICY ROADS ARE THE NORM DURING THE SNOW SEASON. ON 5 MARCH 2014, MY WIFE NOTICED THAT THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT WAS ACTIVATED. I ATTRIBUTED THE SIGNAL TO THE LOW AIR TEMPERATURE WHICH WAS BELOW 0 DEGREE F. ON 6 MARCH 2014 AFTER I DROVE THE CAR IN 20+ DEGREES F. THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ACTIVATED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL TIRE SHOP TO HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE CHECKED BY THE PROFESSIONAL. THE OWNER/TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE IN ALL TIRES. WHILE CHECKING TIRE PRESSURE, ONE RETAINING NUT (LOCATED ON THE OUTSIDE TIRE RIM) WHICH HOLDS THE TIRE SENSOR MONITOR (LOCATED INSIDE THE TIRE) SPLIT, AND ONE HALF OF THE NUT FELL ONTO THE FLOOR. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE REMAINING RETAINING NUTS WERE FOUND TO BE CORRODED, BUT NOT CRACKED. THE TECHNICIAN/OWNER EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AND WHAT THE RESULTS COULD BE IF THE SENSOR MONITOR WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY REPLACE. HE ALSO GAVE ME EXAMPLES OF OTHER CUSTOMERS TO WHOM THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED. THE BIGGEST DANGER ACCORDING TO HIM WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF TIRE AIR PRESSURE WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. HE STATED HE FINDS THE RETAINING NUT PROBLEM ONLY ON CHRYSLER/FIAT VEHICLES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE AT MY EXPENSE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MONITOR WAS REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT UNDER FEDERAL LAW REPLACE THE SENSOR MONITOR WITH A STANDARD TIRE VALVE. I FEEL THAT THESE MONITORS NEED TO BE CONSIDER FOR A SAFETY RECALL. PLEASE ADVISE ME AND OTHER OWNERS (ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO RESIDE IN COLD, SNOWY CLIMATES) OF CHRYSLER/FIAT PRODUCTS AS TO REMEDIES TO THIS POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND FINANCIAL BURDEN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO TIRES, SIZE 225/55/R19. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE WOULD VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DOT WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANNUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY TIRE BLEW OUT, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WAS CORRODED, CRACKED AND SPLIT IN HALF. UPON CHECKING OF ALL MY TIRES, ALL OF THEM ARE CRACKED AND CORRODED. ON THE TIRE THAT BLEW THE STEM WAS TOTALLY SPLIT IN HALF. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE, THEY CHANGED TO PLASTIC IN THE 2011 JOURNEY'S. WE BOUGHT THE CAR 1 1/2 MONTHS AGO AS A CERTIFIED USED CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK DYNA PRO TIRES, SIZE 225/70R16. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW. THE CONTACT MERGED ONTO THE SHOULDERS AND CHANGED THE TIRE. THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR AND THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR THE TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS LIKELY CAUSED BY A ROAD HAZARD AND PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,850.
THIS COMPLAINT PERTAINS TO A LIMITED SUPPLY CHAIN PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 DODGE JOURNEY TIRE AND WHEEL COMBINATION WHICH MAY LEAD TO ACCIDENTS. MY 2010 JOURNEY HAS A CUSTOM TIRE SIZE OF 225/55/19, WHICH IS HOW DODGE DESIGNED IT. KUHMO IS THE ONLY TIRE MFG THAT SUPPLIES THIS TIRE SIZE. IN MAY OF 2011 I HAD ONE TIRE FAILURE AND IT TOOK APPROX. 12 DAYS TO LOCATE A TIRE DUE TO A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THAT RESULTED IN ME RIDING ON MY SMALLER SPARE TIRE DURING THAT TIME. ON JULY 4TH 2011 WE HAD ANOTHER TIRE FAIL AND AGAIN THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT AVAILABLE DUE TO THE CUSTOM TIRE SIZE AND KUHMO'S NATIONAL TIRE SHORTAGE. I AM NOW RIDING ON MY SPARE AGAIN WHILE MY MECHANIC SEARCHES NATIONALLY FOR A TIRE. MY RECOMMENDATION IS THAT YOU ALERT DODGE/CHRYSLER OF THIS ISSUE AND HAVE THEM FIND AN ALTERNATE SUPPLIER OF THIS CUSTOM TIRE SIZE. *TR
