Your 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan won't start even though the engine tries to turn over, and you noticed the jumper cable ends were burned. No fuel is reaching the engine, and the fuel pump appears to have failed along with issues in the electrical relays. Your driver's side window also stopped working, and no warning lights came on to alert you to the problem. The dealer was unable to diagnose or repair the issue. Fixing this will likely require replacing the fuel pump, repairing burned electrical connections and relays, and diagnosing the window motor.

Your engine won't start, and even after replacing the battery, the problem comes back. An independent mechanic found that your fuel pump is running continuously and draining the battery—the only way to stop it is by unplugging the fuel pump fuse. This suggests a fuel pump relay or wiring issue that's preventing the pump from shutting off when the engine is off.

The tipm fuel pump relay is stuck causing the fuel pump to stay on even when the vehicle is turned off and the key is not in the ignition switch. This problem is, its dangerous if I was ever to be in an accident and fuel pump will stay on according to the mechanic. Also my car battery is drained after an hour making it undrivable until I call a tow or get a jump start. It was inspected by a mechanic and the vehicle is available for inspection. No warning lamps were on or previous symptoms before 4/30/21. Only the sound of a running fuel pump when the car is completely off. Mechanic states car is known to have this issue. Recalls were made for other dodge vehicles with same part number but they failed to include the this model.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road, where he successfully restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact stated that after the vehicle had been repaired, the vehicle would fail to start intermittently, and would only start after several attempts. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no open recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE INGNITION SWITCH. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED AN IGNITION SWITCH RECALL THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN DUE TO THE MODEL YEAR. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AS IT DISPLAYED THE SAME FAILURE DETAILED IN THE RECALL NOTICE.
The fuel pump relay failed. This is a very common problem with Caravans, and is very expensive to fix. The Grand Cherokee and Durango have the same design, and there is a recall on those models. The Caravan should have a recall declared as well. Thank you.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FAILED AND THE TIPM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,000.
THE GAS PUMP STAYS ACTIVATED AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF; AS A CONSEQUENCE IT HAS DRAINED THE CAR BATTERY TWICE.
RELAY FUEL PUMP IS NOT FUNCTIONING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITH THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AND THE KEY OUT THE IGNITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (ANDERSON CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 5711 E STATE ST, ROCKFORD, IL 61108) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 151,774.
THE FUEL PUMP RELAY ON THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) ON MY 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IS OPERATING INTERMITTENTLY WHICH IS CAUSING ENGINE STALLS AND HARD STARTS. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I FOUND THAT THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL (SAFETY RECALL R09 / NHTSA 15V-115) FOR THE SAME ISSUE FOR OTHER DODGE AND JEEP VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE SAME ENGINE & TIPMS. TROUBLESHOOTING HAS VERIFIED THAT THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS INDEED THE ISSUE. AN ATTEMPTING TO PURCHASE THE RELAY KIT CBWPR091AA SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL FROM MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER IN CONWAY ARKANSAS FAILED. THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T SELL ME THE PART BECAUSE THE RECALL DOES NOT COVER MY VEHICLE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A $1000+ TIPMS BOARD REPLACEMENT. DODGE IS EXTORTING EXORBITANT AMOUNTS FROM THEIR CUSTOMERS FOR EXPENSIVE REPAIRS THAT COULD BE DONE AT A TINY FRACTION OF THE COST IF CUSTOMERS WERE ALLOWED TO PURCHASE THAT SIMPLE RELAY KIT. MEANWHILE I'M HAVING TO OPERATE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE UNTIL I FIND ANOTHER SOURCE TO OBTAIN THE SPECIFIED PART IN THE RECALL. THIS MODEL VEHICLE SHOULD ALSO BE PART OF THAT SAFETY RECALL AND DODGE/CHRYSLER SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS AT RISK AS A RESULT OF THEIR UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES.
AFTER VEHICLE SITS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS COLD OR WET OUT THE VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE TO TURN OVER WITHOUT STARTING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY IS NOT OPPERATING AT ALL TIMES AS IT'S FAULTY WITH NO WAY TO REPLACE IT AS IT IS NOT SEPARATE ENTITY FROM THE TIPM CIRCUIT BOARD. SO THERE ARE DAYS WHERE THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE AS IT WILL NOT START DO TO THE PROBLEM OF NO FUEL BEING INJECTED INTO THE ENGINE DUE TO A BAD OR FAULTY FUEL PUMP RELAY.
MY DODGE GRAND CARAVAN IS HARD TO START. SOMETIMES IT CRANKS FOR MINUTES WITHOUT STARTING, LIKE IT'S OUT OF GAS. THEN IT WILL START AND RUN FINE. SOMETIMES IT STARTS, BUT CHUGS AND DIES RIGHT AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2019 BUT IT WAS WORSE ON 10/27/19. OTHER 2011 MODELS HAVE HAD RECALLS FOR THE TIPM, THE GRAND CARAVAN HAS NOT.
INTERMITTENT STARTING PROBLEMS, WILL JUST KEEP CRANKING AND NOT TURN OVER. PROBLEM CONTINUES TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN OVER TIME.
WHEN YOU PLACE KEY IN IGNITION CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER. THERE IS A CONSTANT CLICKING SOUND , BUT CAR WILL NOT START. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS CAR WILL ONLY START IF YOU TAKE CAR OUT OF PARK, THEN SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND THEN BACK INTO PARK. ONCE THIS HAS BEEN DONE THEN CAR WILL START.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND SUGGESTED THE CONTACT FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THE PART COULD NOT BE BOUGHT AT A LOWER PRICE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FROM SOME PLACE OTHER THAN THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
DIFFICULT TO START. ONCE STARTED DIES. IF POWER IS MAINTAINED AND YOU GET MOVING, WILL DIE WHEN POWER IS REDUCED. IF ON ROAD AND LET OFF POWER TO SLOW DOWN, IT DIES. BAD NEWS IF IN A TRAFFIC SITUATION, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS A WARNING. THEN ONE DAY IT WILL START TO ACT NORMAL..... THEN THE "WILL NOT START ROUTINE" STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. TOOK TO SHOP. NO INDICATORS ON DIAGNOSTICS. PROBLEM WOULD NOT DUPLICATE AT SHOP.

THE FUEL PUMP RELAY LOCATED WITHIN THE TIPM HAS FAILED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS FAILED COMPONENT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AT THOSE HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MY 3 CHILDREN AND WIFE WERE IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. MY 2011 CARAVAN STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING , FIRST IT WOULD ACT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO START BUT THEN IT WOULDN'T THINKING IT JUST WASN'T GETTING ENOUGH POWER I WENT AND HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED AND WENT AHEAD AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. PROBLEM NOT FIXED IT ACTED LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING FUEL FROM THE LINE SO I WENT TO GET THE FUEL FILTER CHANGED NO HELP THERE EITHER. WAS TOLD TO HAVE THE TCIM CHECKED BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT EVERYONE SAID THAT HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. TURNS OUT IT IS THE TCIM AND DODGE IS NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM... IT HAS NOW BEGAN TO STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HWY AND HAS MADE IT VERY DANGEROUS TO PULL THE VAN TO A SAFE PLACE OFF THE HWY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES TO DODGE WITH NO LUCK .THERE'S EVAN A 2017 DODGE CARAVAN THAT IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM...
VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING. GOT THE VAN OFF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO RUN AGAIN. VAN SPIT AND SPUTTERED FOR ABOUT A MINUTE OR TWO AND THEN DROVE FINE TO GET IT HOME, ABOUT TWO MILES. ONCE HOME CUT OFF AND STARTED WITH NO PROBLEMS. SAT OVER NIGHT AND THEN WOULD NOT START. ENGINE TURNED OVER BUT WOULD NOT RUN. CHECKED THE FUEL PUMP AND IT WAS NOT GETTING POWER. APPLIED POWER TO THE FUSE AND IT RAN. REMOVE POWER FROM THE FUSE, AND IT CUT OFF. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE TO HAVE IT HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THIS WOULD HAVE CUT OFF ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE FAST LANE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD NEWS.
THE VEHICLE HAS 34,000 MILES ON IT AND WILL NOT START. ONCE IT'S DOES START IT SHUTS OFF. WAS INFORMED IT WAS FUEL PUMP. ONCE THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED THE VEHICLE DID THE EXACT SAME THING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT'S A HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE VEHICLE AND WHEN YOU DRIVE IT STALLS AND CUTS OFF VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC AND WHEN YOU HAVE A TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND YOU. THE DEALER THEN SAYS IT'S THE "TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE" WHICH IS NOT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A RECALL NEED TO BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED.

THE FUEL PUMP RELAY BUILT INTO THE TIPM HAS GONE BAD, AND FROM RESEARCH IS VERY COMMON IN THESE VEHICLES. THE CAR HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO START, AND NOW WILL NOT START AT ALL.

CAR WOULD NOT START BUT WIPER BLADES WOULD TURN ON, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP. TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. $1500 REPAIR, PART IS NOT IN STOCK AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY. CAR WAS PARKED. THERE WAS A LAWSUIT FILED BUT SETTLEMENT DID NOT INCLUDE DODGE CARAVANS BUT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.
WHILE TRAVELING ON FREEWAY 65 MPH VEHICE COMPLETELY STALLED OUT AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPS TO RESTART IN RESTARTED HAS STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES MECHANIC SAYS IT IS FUELL PUMP RELAY IN TIPM.

MY CAR WAS NOT ON AND WAS STATIONARY, IN MY DRIVE WAY. I WENT TO START MY CAR TO MOVE IT AND IT WOULDN'T START. I DID SOME CHECKING ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THE TIPM WAS HAVING ISSUES. I MADE A BYPASS FROM THE PASSENGER OUTLET TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY TO GET POWER. THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX BUT IT HAS WORKED SO FAR. I HAVE ADDED A PICTURE OF MY BYPASS FOR DOCUMENTATION.

WAS DRIVING AND VAN SHUT DOWN WITH NO POWER STEERING IT WAS DIFFICULT TO COAST OFF HIGHWAY ALMOST GOT HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. WHEN I DID IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN RIGHT AWAY BUT EVENTUALLY AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPS IT CRANKED UP. THIS HAS HAPPEND MULTIPLE TIMES AND I HAVE YOUNG KIDS TO HAVE TO BE TAKEN TO SCHOOL IN IT. THX DODGE
JUST PURCHASED THE VAN USED, HAVE A LOAN ON IT AND NOW APPARENTLY THERE IS A $1,000-$1300 REPAIR THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BECAUSE DODGE FAILS TO ADMIT ANY WRONG-DOING. THIS IS OF SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET MY VAN STARTED, I WENT TO PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE. TURNS OUT IT HAD DIED ON ME. AS WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE, THE TIPM IS TO BLAME. THE VAN CAN DIE AT ANY POINT BECAUSE OF THE LOSS OF POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP, IF THERE IS NO FUEL GETTING TO THE ENGINE, THEN THERE IS NO POWER STEERING, AND NO POWER BRAKES. HOW IS IT THAT THERE ARE OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT GOT RECALLED, BUT NOT THE GRAND CARAVAN?!
AFTER MONTHS OF VEHICLE SOMETIMES STARTING, SOMETIMES NOT, IT FINALLY WOULD NOT START. WOULD CRANK BUT NOT TURN OVER, THE WEEK PRIOR TO THIS, PRESS ON GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED (WHILE DRIVING) - VERY DANGEROUS. DIAGNOSIS = NEW FUEL PUMP. CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 60,000 MILES.
FUEL RELAY IS STUCK IN THE OPEN CONDITION CAUSING A NO START. VEHICLE WILL CRANK BUT WILL NOT START. FURTHER TESTING REVEALED OPEN CONTACT ON THE INTEGRATED FUEL RELAY. VEHICLE WILL RUN IF /WHEN RELAY IS BY PASSED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN DUE TO NO START. REPLACED (ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND SERPENTINE BELT) ALL WERE TESTED AND FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE (INTERNALLY ELECTRICAL BURNT). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE ABOUT WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

THE CAR HAVE 5 PROBLEMS : A) THE CAR NOT START THE ENGINE IN THE MORNING ,CONSUME THE BATTERY POWER WITHOUT ANY REASON ,THE FUEL PUMP CONTINUE TO RUN AND THE CAR IS OFF. I WAS DRIVING TO GO PICK UP MY WIFE AND I WAS ON A BACK TWO LANE ROAD WHEN MY VAN JUST SHUT OFF. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND IT TOOK A COUPLE OF TIMES TO RESTART BUT EVENTUALLY DID. SINCE THEN MY VEHICLE HAS HAD A FEW ISSUES WITH STARTING. I HAVE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT BUT HE SEES NOTHING WRONG. IT ALSO HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. SHE WAS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN IT JUST TURNED GREEN. SHE PUT HER FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IT STOPPED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SHE WAS WITH MY YOUNGEST SON AND HE WAS SCARED TO DEATH. WE KEEP HAVING TO HAVE ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE TO COME JUMP START IT. TODAY JANUARY 17, 2015 THE MAN COME OUT TO JUMP START IT AND IT IS COMPLETELY DEAD. WE USED TO HEAR THIS SOUND LIKE AIR COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BUT NOTHING NOW. HE SAID TO ME IT MAY BE A FUEL PUMP. *TR
BOUGHT THIS USED VAN IN NOVEMBER AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT FROM THE TIME WE BOUGHT IT. THOUGHT IT WAS A TCIM FAILURE DODGE REPAIR SHOP SAID, NO, THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS AFFECTED BY TCIM FAILURE. HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED BY ANOTHER SHOP. TOOK IT HOME AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. THE SHOP TOWED IT BACK AND FOUND THAT IT IS THE TCIM CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP FAILURE. WAITING TO SEE WHAT WILL BE THE ADDITIONAL COST, BESIDES THE $600 + TO CHANGE THE FUEL PUMP.
ABOUT A YEAR AGO THE VEHICLE STARTED SPORADICALLY NOT COMING ON. BATTERY WAS REPLACED, THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE, ALTERNATOR WAS TESTED, THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE?ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE AND WOULD SOMETIMES TAKE 2-5 ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE CAR WOULD START. SOMETIMES IT WOULD START THEN IMMEDIATELY STALL. LAST WEEK IT JUST STOPPED RUNNING; WOULD NOT TURN ON AT ALL. TURNS OUT IT IS THE TIPM THAT HAS GONE BAD NOT ALLOWING THE FUEL RELAY TO WORK PROPERLY. THE PART IS AROUND $1200 TO REPLACE, IF YOU CAN EVEN FIND ONE. CHRYSLER/DODGE HAS RECALLED THIS IN VARIOUS OTHER VEHICLES BUT STILL REFUSES TO RECALL IT IN THE 2011-2012 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WE HAVE FRIENDS WHO ALSO HAVE A 2011 GRAND CARAVAN AND WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS BEFORE US. THEIR DEALER REPLACE ALL SORTS OF OTHER PARTS ON THE CAR BEFORE THEY TOOK IT TO A SHOP THAT TOLD THEM IT WAS THE TIPM; THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DOUBTED THAT WAS THE ISSUE BUT IF IT WAS THEY WOULD REPLACE IT FOR THEM AT NO COST. GUESS WHAT? IT TURNS OUT THAT WAS THE ISSUE AND NOW IT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND THEY HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE SINCE. I HAVE SINCE, AFTER MUCH RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, MADE A BYPASS FOR THE VEHICLE; WHICH WILL WORK TEMPORARILY BUT IT WILL NOT BE A PERMANENT FIX. I WANT THEM TO FIX MY VEHICLE! *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY BE CONTRIBUTED TO THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
WHILE OPENING THE BACK DOOR OF THE MINIVAN, I NOTICED A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE AND SON BOTH NOTICED IT A FEW MINUTES PRIOR TO ME OPENING THE DOOR. ABOUT 15 SECONDS AFTER I HAD OPENED IT, I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE ENTIRE GAS STRUT EXPLODED AT THE BASE AND SENT BROKEN PIECES FLYING ABOUT 15 FT INTO THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS HOLDING THE DOOR AT THE TIME AND THE FULL WEIGHT OBVIOUSLY WAS THEN UPON ME. UPON RESEARCHING THIS A BIT I NOTICED THAT SEVERAL MAJOR CAR MANUFACTURERS HAD ISSUED RECALLS BUT APPARENTLY DODGE HAS NOT YET. WELL I'M REPORTING THAT OUR 2011 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN HAS THE SAME ISSUE AND HAS THE STABILUS GAS STRUTS. I HONESTLY HOPE NO ONE GETS INJURED AND THANKFUL THAT WE WERE LUCKY IN THIS INSTANCE. HAD IT BEEN MY WIFE NOT HOLDING THE DOOR AND MY SON STANDING RIGHT THERE, THINGS COULD HAVE GONE DOWN QUITE DIFFERENTLY. *TR
