2010 GRAND CARAVAN SE, BOUGHT 100000 MILES THE FIRST WEEK OF DRIVING HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO OFF WHILE DRIVING WORKED THEW SWITCH AND CAME BACK ON GOT ME HOME NOW NOT WORKING AT ALL. I HAVE READ MANY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ON GOING PROBLEM BOTH ON THIS WEBSITE AND IN OTHER FORUMS. IM STUNNED THAT NTHSA WILL RECALL A VEHICLE FOR AN EMBLEM COMIONG LOOSE ON AN AIRBAG COVER BUT WITH A SERIOUS SAFTEY ISSUE, LIFE OR DEATH AT NIGHT ON A DARK ROAD THERE IS NO RECALL.
HEADLIGHTS FAILED AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. WHEN TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, THEY WOULD BLINK FOR TWO OR THREE TIMES THE REMAIN OFF. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES I RETURNED TO THE CAR AND THEY TURNED ON NORMALLY AND WORKED FOR ABOUT 9 MILES BEFORE FAILING AGAIN. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF RESTARTING AND RETRYING THE LIGHTS THEY WORKED AGAIN FOR ANOTHER 8 MILES THEN FAILED AGAIN. REPEATED PROCESS AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT 20 MILES HOME WITH NO MORE FAILURES. SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN YESTERDAY (ABOUT 4 DAYS AFTER FIRST INCIDENT). THIS TIME THERE WERE MULTIPLE FAILURES IN 12 MILES. ALL FAILURES OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
HEADLIGHTS GO OUT UNEXPECTEDLY, IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STANDING STILL. FOG LIGHTS AND RUNNING LIGHTS WORK BUT HEADLIGHTS DO NOT. IF THEY ARE WORKING AND YOU TURN ON THE BRIGHTS THEY GO OUT AND THEY GO ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES.
AFTER STARTING MY VAN, I WILL TURN ON MY HEADLIGHTS AND THEY WILL FLICKER ON AND THEN OFF REALLY QUICK. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY. I WILL WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN AND THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN. I CAN FLIP THE HIGH BEAMS ON AND THEY WILL FLICKER ON AND THEN RIGHT OFF. HOWEVER, THE FOG LIGHTS WILL COME ON. I CAN USUALLY SIT AND WAIT ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND THE LIGHTS WILL USUALLY COME ON.
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A DARK COUNTRY ROAD AND MY HEADLIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OFF. I REACHED FOR THE CONTROL, TURNED IT OFF THEN ON, THE LIGHTS BLINKED THEN WENT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE FOG LIGHTS ON. THE NEXT DAY THEY NECT DAY THEY WORKED. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE LIGTS WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INTERSTATE HIGWAY @70MPH. IT HAS RECOVERED MULTIPLE TIMES.
MY HEAD LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY BLINK WHEN I TURN ON MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE RUNNING LIGHTS STILL WORK BUT ITS THE HIGH AND LOW BEAM LIGHTS. THE LIGHTS WILL BLINK A FEW TIMES THEN STAY OFF. THE VEHICLE CAN BE IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND RESEARCHED ONLINE AND IT LOOKS TO BE A REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE TIPM MODULE WHICH IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX. ALSO LOOKING AT THE ONLINE FORUMS, IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODULE ON A LOT OF VEHICLES. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE DIAGNOSED IT TO THE TIPM. I BELIEVE SINCE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE VEHICLES, CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE TIPMS SINCE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE PEOPLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE LOW AND HIGH BEAM HEAD LAMPS WERE ACTIVATED, BUT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
SOME OF MY DASH LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. I TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID, "THIS WOULD BE AN EIGHT-HOUR JOB AND COST ABOUT $800.00. HE DID NOT WANT THIS JOB AND SUGGESTED I CONTACT DODGE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. IS THERE SOMETHING DODGE CAN DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY VIHICLES BEFORE AND THYIS IS THE FOURTH DODGE I HAVE OWNED. THE PROBLEM IS THAT AT NIGHT, WHEN I NEED TO SEE MY DASH LIGHTS, I CANNOT SEE MY SPEEDOMETER, ECT. I HAD TO PUT A LIGHT ABOVE MY SPEEDOMETER. NOR VERY ATTRACTIVE AND NOT REAL HELPFUL.
THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY WORK, BUT MOSTLY DO NOT LIGHT UP WHETHER TURNING ON THE HEADLIGHTS USING THE MAIN SWITCH. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS, THE LIGHTS WILL FLICKER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN GO OUT. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE AND THE POLICE PULLED HER OVER AND ASKED WHY SHE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT NIGHT WITH HER HEADLAMPS OFF. MY WIFE NOTICED, BUT THOUGHT A HEADLAMP HAD BURNED OUT. MY WIFE SETUP AN APPOINTMENT AT A EXPERIENCED MECHANIC WHO SHOT THE WIRES AND DID NOT IDENTIFY ANY ISSUES WITH THE HEADLAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY OR THE WIRES. WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH DODGE DEALERSHIP IN A FEW DAYS, HOWEVER, READING ONLINE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT COULD ENTAIL A CIRCUIT DEFICIENCY WITHIN THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MANAGEMENT (TIPM) MODULE. WE JUST PURCHASED THE VAN FROM A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP 2 MONTHS AGO AND THIS IS VERY UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY WORK. THE VAN IS GROUNDED FROM OPERATION AT NIGHT AND DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS AS THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION.
THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS DONE IT WHILE DRIVING, BOTH ON STREETS AND THE HIGHWAY, OR PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. WHILE INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE, I HAVE FOUND, ON YOUR SITE AND OTHERS, THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A NEW OCCURRENCE. THIS BOTHERS ME THAT JUST BECAUSE NO MAJOR INJURIES HAVE BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO THIS PROBLEM, THAT THIS SAFETY ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. WE TOOK OUR VAN TO OUR MECHANIC WHO TOLD US HE COULD TRY TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT WE NEED TO TRY REPLACING TIPM, BUT AT A PRICE TAG OF $600-700, IT IS STILL NOT A GUARANTEE AND IT IS ON NATIONAL, OR FROM THE WORDS OF A PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP - GALACTIC, BACKORDER WITH NO DATE AS TO WHEN TO EXPECT THE PART TO BE IN. WE CALLED A LOCAL DEALER TO FIND OUT WHO TO COMPLAIN TO AND WE WERE TOLD WE NEEDED TO VERIFY THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER, WHICH WE DID AND IT IS. CHRYSLER TOLD US THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE TO CORRECTING THE MATTER AND ALL ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE ISSUE ARE OUR RESPONSIBILITY. OUR CONCERN IS THAT WE CAN NO LONGER SAFELY DRIVE OUR CAR IN THE RAIN, WHEN OUR HEADLIGHTS NEED TO BE ON OR AT NIGHT, IF WE CANNOT BE ASSURED THE LIGHTS WILL WORK THE ENTIRE TIME WE ARE OUT. WE ARE THANKFUL THAT DURING THE TIMES IT HAS GONE OUT, WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY GET OFF THE ROAD. AS FOR YOUR QUESTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE ABOUT WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE MOST RECENT DATE WAS LAST NIGHT, WHEN MY WIFE NEEDED TO GO TO A MEETING AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN ON, SO SHE HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE.
HEADLIGHTS BLINK ON AND OFF. SOME DAYS THEY WORK, SOME DAYS THEY DON'T. THEY WILL EVEN WORK FOR A WHILE AND THEN SHUT OFF WHILE WE'RE DRIVING!
HEADLIGHTS (BOTH, HIGH AND LOW BEAMS) DO NOT WORK SOMETIMES. SOME TIMES FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THEY WILL GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AND MOST TIME THEY WILL NOT COME ON AT ALL. ALSO, THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK WHEN PRESSING THE OPEN DOOR OPTION ON THE KEY FOB. ALL THEY DO IS BLINK ON AND THEN TURN OFF...THAT'S IT. PARK LIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS DO WORK. THE FOG LIGHTS HAVE SAVE ME ON A COUPLE OCCASIONS WHEN THE LIGHTS TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO CODES TURNED ON IN THE COMPUTER.
WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN STORM WITH CRUISE CONTROL,WIPERS,LIGHTS,AND RADIO ON POWER TO CONTROLS WOULD TURN OFF. ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AND SYSTEMS CAME BACK ON AFTER TURNING OFF RADIO, LIGHTS FOR AWHILE.
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MILES PER HOUR, AT AROUND 7:40PM, THE LOW BEAMS ON MY 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WENT COMPLETELY OFF. I PULLED OVER AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THEM BACK ON AND HAD TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC, EXPLAINED TO HIM EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, BUT WHEN HE WENT TO CHECK THEM THEY TURNED ON AND HE FOUND NO VISIBLE PROBLEMS. THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT HE HAD RESEARCHED ONLINE WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE AT NIGHT OR IN THE RAIN AFTER SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAPPEN DRIVING AT NIGHT TIME ON A CURVY ROAD AND THE LIGHTS FAIL. *TR

PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC SCAN AND FOUND STORED LOW BEAM AND HIGH BEAM "CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW". CLEARED STORED TROUBLE CODES AND REPLACED HEADLIGHT SWITCH AS A LIKELY CAUSE OF SYMPTOM DESCRIBED. HEADLIGHT TURNED OFF AGAIN UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN. *TR

INTERMITTENTLY THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT AND WILL NOT COME RIGHT BACK ON. HAD VEHICLE IN SHOP TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM AND HEADLIGHTS WORKED AND WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE PROBLEM. ON 7/16/2013 IT WAS RAINING BUT NOT HARD AND I HAD MY HEADLIGHTS ON AND DROPPED OFF A PASSENGER AND AS I WENT INTO THE DRIVEWAY MY LIGHTS WERE SHINING ON THE GARAGE DOOR. AS SOON AS I GOT TO THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY WHICH HAD A SLIGHT UP GRADE THE HEADLIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF 2 TO 3 TIMES AND THEY WOULD NOT STAY ON AFTER THAT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME TO REPLACE BOTH HEADLIGHTS WHICH WAS DONE. THIS SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND ALL DAY WEDNESDAY I DROVE THE VAN WITH THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND THEY SEEMED TO WORK. HOWEVER ON THURSDAY WE TOOK A SMALL TRIP WHICH TOOK US 45 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. WHEN WE STARTED BACK ON THURSDAY NIGHT 7/18/13 THE LIGHTS FLASHED A FEW TIMES AND THEN WENT OUT. WE WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE HOME AND GOT TO A MOTEL THAT NIGHT. SO THE NEW LIGHTS APPARENTLY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, FURTHER, WE CHECKED THE OLD LIGHTS AND THEY ACTUALLY CHECKED OUT FINE. THE VAN IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING REPAIRED AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE BOX THAT HOLDS ALL THE FUSES AND RELAYS. UPON CHECKING ON THE INTERNET WE DISCOVERED THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. WE CONSIDER OURSELVES VERY LUCKY IN THAT IF THIS FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTATE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS NO TELLING WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THE HEADLIGHTS HAD FAILED AT THAT TIME. WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE TURNED THE LIGHTS ON BEFORE MOVING AND SAW THE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING, THIS IS GOING TO BE A REPAIR JOB OF OVER $700.00 DOLLARS AND IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM IN OTHER YEARS AND MODELS I THINK THAT MAYBE THIS SITUATION WARRANTS FURTHER STUDY, AT PRESENT THE VAN IS BEING REPAIRED AND SHOULD BE BACK IN A FEW DAYS, THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE THIS; FAILURE OF HEADLIGHTS. IF THIS PROBLEM WARRANTS A RECALL AT SOME POINT MAYBE I MIGHT RECEIVE A REFUND ON THIS REPAIR. *TR

I BOUGHT A 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SXT. THE COMPANY WILL NOT TURN ON THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THEY ALWAYS TURNED THEM ON WHEN I BOUGHT PREVIOUS YEAR VANS. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN TO BE A WORTHWHILE SAFETY ITEM. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD GIVE ME A 10% REDUCTION FOR THIS ITEM. THE OPTION IS AVAILABLE AND TURNED ON FOR VEHICLES SOLD IN CANADA. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS FAULT THAT WILL RESULT IN MORE CRASHES FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
