WHILE DRIVING CAR IT SHUTS OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES UP TO 3 TIMES A DAY. I LOSE ALL POWER STEERING, BRAKES ECT.
CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE GASKET
AT 35,000 KM WITH IN WARRANTY PERIOD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP. WENT TO DEALER, THEY FOUND CYLINDER # 5 MISFIRED. ACCORDINGLY TO DEALER THIS WAS REPAIRED BY CERTIFIED TECH AND VAN WAS IN GARAGE FOR 1 WEEK. THEN THIS VAN STARTED STALLING ENGINE AT 99,000 KM APPROX. THE ENGINE STALLS AND NO CODE IS REGISTERED AT LOW SPEEDS AND TURNS. FINALLY ONE DAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP 0406 CODE CAME IN WHILE CHECKING. MY MECHANIC CLEANED EGR VALVE CHANGED GASKETS. IT RUN FINE BUR STILL AFTER COUPLE OF MONTHS THE ENGINE STARED STALLING OCCASIONALLY. LEAVING STEERING WHEEL HARD TO CONTROL AND NO BREAKS. AT 135,00 THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. TOOK TO GARAGE 2 CYLINDERS WERE DEAD, HAVE TO SPEND $ 4,000 TO GET A USED MOTOR IN THIS TO BRING IT BACK TO ROAD. CHANGED TIMING BELT, WATERPUMP AND EXTENDED WARRANTY IT DID RUN FINE FOR 6-7 MONTHS. IT AGAIN STARTED STALLING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING, I SEARCHED, THERE ARE OVER 100 COMPLAINTS AND NO SOLUTION. WENT TO MECHANIC MANY TIMES BUT NO CODE IS STORED BUT STILL VAN ENGINE STALL. IT STALLS EVEN AT 60 KM/HR SPEED MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO OPERATE ON ROAD. I CAN REAR END OR CAN GET REAR ENDED AS IT STALLED. MOST DANGEROUS HAPPENED WHEN IT STALLED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AND LUCKILY THE ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS BIT FAR AWAY AND PERSON WAS ALERT TO STOP SAFETY WITHOUT HITTING. I AM AFRAID IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN AND A TRUCK IS COMING STRAIGHT. DODGE IS NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR INVESTIGATION FOR THIS ISSUE. I WILL LIKE SAFTEY AUTHORITIES TO TAKE ACTION AND SAVE LIVES. IT IS NOT SAFE TO KEEP DRIVING THIS VAN BUT HAVE NO CHOICE AS THERE IS NO SOLUTION PROVIDED BY MANUFACTURER AND HAVE NOT MUCH MONEY IN HAND TO BUY ANOTHER. VAN EITHER EXHIBITS A SLOW TO NONE START AS WELL AS STALLING WHILE DRIVING, USUALLY IN 1ST 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND OCCURS MULTIPLE TIMES PER DAY.

THE VEHICLE SHUTS COMPLETELY OFF WHILE DRIVING. NO SPITTING OR SPUTTERING, NO STALLING, NO ERROR CODES OR LIGHTS. JUST SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING. WEATHER CONDITIONS, SPEED, MILES DROVE MATTERS
MY STX GRAND CARAVAN STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY WARNING. NO TROUBLE LIGHTS COME ON EXCEPT THE TRACTION LIGHT. THE LIGHT GOES OFF AS SOON AS YOU RESTART THE VAN. USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN. NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT !! HAS HAPPENED IN THE CITY BUT MOSTLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS.
THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ESP INDICATOR LIGHTS. WHEN YOU COAST TO A STOP AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK, IT WILL RESTART.
THE ENGINE WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THEN NOTHING WORKS. NO AIR BAGS, NO POWER STEERING, NO POWER BRAKES. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS UNDER 35 MPH. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS COULD BE FATAL.

A FEW WEEKS AGO I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY IGNITION, AND STARTED TO LOOK INFORMATION ABOUNT IT. I FOUND A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE (R3 / NHTSA 14V-373) WHERE THE REMEDY IS: THE WIN MODULE AND FOBIKS MUST BE REPLACED. I CALLED TO PALMER DODGE (770) 410-1111 (ADDRESS: 11460 ALPHARETTA HWY, ROSWELL, GA 30076 - WORKER: LUIS) AND MADE A APPOINTMENT TO FEV-19 (TODAY), AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WILL BE REPLACED, BUT TODAY THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY JUST WILL UPDATE THE WIN MODULE AND IT WILL BE FINE. THE REPORT SAY: THE WIN MODULE AND FOBIKS MUST BE REPLACED, SO I DON'T FELL GOOD BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I TRIED TO CONTACT RECALLS.MOPAR.COM BY CHAT, AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I ASK THE PALMER WORKER AND HE JUST SAY THAT UPDATE IS ENOUGH, BUT THE REPORT SAYS MUST BE REPLACED.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN VAN IN THE CITY LIMITS, WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN OR TO ANTICIPATE TO STOP, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE THE CAR IS STILL IN MOTION. THE RADIO, LIGHTS AND AIR CONDITIONER DO NOT SHUT DOWN *(THEY STAY ON). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I TAKE OUT THE KEY, REINSTALL IT BACK TO THE IGNITION SWITCH AND CRANK IT TO TURN THE ENGINE ON AND IT DOES TURN ON. THIS IS HAPPENING EVERYDAY, AT LEAST TWICE PER DAY.

AFTER I SHUT DOWN THE CAR IT I CAN RESTART TE CAR IMMEDIATELY. WHEN I TURN THE RADIO BACK ON THE RADIO COMES RIGHT ON WITHOUT THE SAFETY WARNING THAT NORMALLY APPEARS WHEN I TURN THE RADIO ON.
VAN ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE CAN HAS SHUT OFF. THE VAN HAS SHUT OFF ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, MOST OF THE TIME IT IS WITHIN A FEW HUNDRED YARDS OF THE STARTING POINT. THUS TIME THE CAN WAS WARM AND JUST QUIT LEAVING MY FAMILY AND I WITHOUT POWER BAKES OUR STEERING. VAN WAS SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL WHILE COASTING AT 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND RESTARTED.

THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH AT A STOP SIGN AND ROUNDING A CURVE AT 30 MPH. NO ENGINE - NO POWER STEERING. HOPING THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. ENGINE ALSO HAS A 'SURGE' TO IT AT AROUND 40 MPH; NOT SURE IF THE TWO ARE RELATED.

CITY DRIVING SO FAR BUT CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY OF THIS CONTINUING. DEALER SEEMS TO HAVE NO CLUE AT THIS POINT OR ARE JUST PLAYING DUMB BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF FORUMS WITH PEOPLE DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE.

IT'S MADE OF PLASTIC, AND IT LASTED LESS THAN 5 YEARS BEFORE IT BURST AT THE SEAMS AND SPRAYED COOLANT ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN MY WIFE AND FOUR CHILDREN WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, LEAVING THEM STRANDED. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING BEFORE IT BURST, AND THERE IS NO MAINTENANCE THAT WILL PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. THE PART IS DEFECTIVE, AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE DODGE MODELS. AN INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING EVERYWHERE.
I AM DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN CAR SHUTS OFF, THEN I HAVE NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. CAN PUT IN NEUTRAL AND TURN IT BACK ON. HAS A HABIT OF DOING IT SEVERAL TIMES IN A DAY.
KEY WENT FROM ON POSITION TO ACCESSORY WHILE CAR WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHT. WE WERE ABLE TO RESTART AND CONTINUE ON OUR WAY. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A CRASH IF THE CAR WERE STILL MOVING IN TRAFFIC.

HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MPH. THERE IS NO WARNING AND IT JUST QUITS. WHEN IT DOES YOU LOSE ALL POWER STEERING AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHEN THIS HAPPENS - IT CAN BE SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE MORNING DRIVE OR AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 20 MINUTES. IT ALSO HAPPENS SPORADICALLY SO IT IS VERY HARD TO DETERMINE IF AND WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR CHECKED MANY TIMES BY THE DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING. IT HAS CONTINUED TO STALL SPORADICALLY OVER THE PAST 5-6 MONTHS. WE NOW SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2010 DODGE CARAVANS BASED ON THIS FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH, HOWEVER THE DEALER INFORMS US THAT OUR CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. *TR

HOWEVER, THEY ALSO SAID IT MAY BE THE MODULE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $600.00. HOWEVER, THEY APPARENTLY DO NOT KNOW OR JUST TRYING TO RUN UP THE COST OF REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. I SEE A LOT OF OTHERS WHO ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT STALLING PROBLEMS WITH NO SATISFACTION. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??? THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AS STALLING CAN OCCUR ANYWHERE AND INVOLVE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. *TR
ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS ACTUALLY A REPORT OF 5-6 SEPARATE INCIDENTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITHIN A WEEK'S SPAN. THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT IS INSTANT AND SILENT, WITH NO PRE-WARNING. DRIVER LOSES ALL POWER STEERING / BRAKES DURING THE OCCURRENCE. LAST INCIDENT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE STALLED AND A FOLLOWING VEHICLE HAD TO TAKE ACTION TO AVOID A COLLISION. MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE VAN AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. WHEN IT HAPPENS, THE VAN ALWAYS STARTS BACK UP, BUT IT HAS TO BE STATIONARY AND IN-PARK. THIS IS THE SECOND TEMPERATURE SENSOR THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY THE DEALER. INTERNET SEARCH CONFIRMS MANY ISSUES SUCH AS THIS ARE EVIDENT ON THE ROAD. REPAIR MADE 01/23/15 AT A CONSUMER COST OF $513.41. OUR PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERED ALL OF IT, BUT $150.00. I CONSIDER THE ISSUE, IN REGARD TO A DFMEA FORMAT TO BE, LOSS OF FUNCTION WHICH SHALL BE A SEVERITY OF 10 AND AN INVERTED DELTA BY THE MANUFACTURER. WE TOOK THE VAN IN APRIL 2014 TO ZEIGLER IN DOWNERS GROVE, IL AND THEY HAD US COME BACK EVERY 1000 MILES TO CHECK AGAIN, EACH TIME IT WAS AT LEAST 1.5 OR SO QUARTS LOW. THEY WOULD TOP IT OFF AND SAY COME BACK IN 1000 MILES. THAT IS NOT NORMAL A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT KEEP NEEDING OIL TO BE ADDED AND IF NO OIL IS ADDED IT IS EMPTY BEFORE YOU HAVE DRIVEN 3000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN I NOTICED THE AIR CONDITIONER STOP WORKING. I BEGAN SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT. THE VAN MOTOR CUT OUT WHILE TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AND ANOTHER CAR COLLIDED WITH THE VAN. THE FRONT AIR BAGS WENT OFF . THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER THAT THE ENGINE WAS STALLING, CUTTING OUT, MISSING AND LACK OF POWER. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY 2010 DOGE GRAND CARAVAN SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. BUT ON 2/7/11 I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO DIE DUE TO THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN AT 60 MILES PER HOUR. WE WERE DRIVING 60 MPH IN THE FAST LANE OF TRAFFIC WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND DID MY BEST TO PULL OFF TO SAFETY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND A SERVICE MAN ASKED ME TO CHECK TO SEE IF I HAD RAN OUT OF GAS. I STILL HAD ABOUT 10 GALLONS IN MY TANK. THE VAN DID TURN BACK ON SO HE HAD ME DRIVE ABOUT A MILE OR SO TO HIS GARAGE. HE PUT THE CAR ON A COMPUTER TO CHECK THE CODES. HE CLAIMS THERE WAS NO CODES INDICATING THIS ENGINE FAILURE. NO SURPRISE BECAUSE THIS DEALERSHIP, THE SAME ONE I BOUGHT THE VAN TELLS ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG EACH TIME SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS SHOWING ENGINE FAILURE ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL AT 60 MILES PER HOUR.
