Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 284)
Unknown Or Other →2 issues
Your driver's side sliding door is stuck locked and won't open using the manual handle, key fob, or overhead button. This is a serious safety concern because passengers wouldn't be able to exit in an emergency. The dealer will need to diagnose and repair the door locking mechanism.

Your sliding door lock actuator has frozen up, making the sliding door completely inoperable. If you needed to use that door to exit the vehicle, it wouldn't be available. The lock mechanism will likely need to be replaced or repaired to restore the door's function.

Steering →2 issues
Your power steering has failed twice during rainy conditions on city streets, making your van very difficult to steer. The dealership confirmed this is a known issue on your model year—water can reach and damage the power steering belt in wet weather. You nearly lost control and almost went into a ditch both times. The fix likely involves replacing the power steering belt and possibly installing a protective cover to keep water away from it.

You're hearing noises coming from your steering column while driving at various speeds. A mechanic diagnosed that your rack and pinion (the part that converts steering wheel movement into tire movement) needs to be replaced. The mechanic mentioned your vehicle's VIN might be part of a recall, but no official recall was found when checked. The fix will involve replacing the steering rack and pinion assembly.

Air Bags →2 issues
Your airbag warning light has turned on for about two minutes on several occasions and then gone off by itself. This inconsistent warning suggests there may be an electrical issue with your airbag system that isn't being detected during normal driving. You should have a mechanic scan your vehicle's airbag system with a diagnostic computer to identify the underlying electrical problem.

Your airbag warning light turns on and off unpredictably while you're driving—it stays on for a while, then goes off, then comes back on again. This intermittent behavior suggests a problem with the airbag sensor system that needs diagnostic attention to identify which sensor or connection is causing the fault.

Exterior Lighting →2 issues
Your turn signals are working backwards—when you signal left, the right signal lights up instead. You have to switch to right and back to left to get the left signal to work properly. The problem happens while driving but not when the car is parked. This will likely require replacing the turn signal switch or checking the wiring connections in the steering column.

Your headlights and taillights turn on randomly while the car is parked and off, draining your battery. You also hear warning chimes every time you open the door, even though the lights are actually off. This electrical issue has been present since you got the vehicle.

Fuel/propulsion System →2 issues
Every time you fill up your gas tank, your van stalls or runs very rough for a few minutes right after you leave the pump. This happens in traffic and is dangerous, though the engine does restart immediately. The issue likely involves the fuel system's ability to handle a full tank properly, and a mechanic will need to diagnose whether it's a fuel pressure regulator, charcoal canister vent, or fuel pump issue.

You're having trouble filling up your gas tank at the pump — the nozzle keeps shutting off automatically even though your tank is nearly empty. This is likely caused by a problem with your vehicle's evaporative emission system, which controls how fuel vapors are managed. The issue may require inspection and repair of components like the charcoal canister, fuel filler neck, or related vent lines.

Service Brakes →1 issue
Your brake system has experienced multiple serious failures, including complete lockup and severe overheating of the front brake that smelled like fire. You've replaced calipers, rotors, and brake pads multiple times across different repair shops, spending nearly $3,500 on brake repairs alone over the vehicle's 155,000 miles. The brake system may be undersized for this vehicle model, creating a potential safety hazard. A complete brake system inspection and possible upgrade to heavy-duty components may be needed to resolve the recurring failures.

Engine →1 issue
Your engine experienced warning lights (oil pressure and an unknown indicator) when braking at 45 mph, which couldn't be reproduced by a mechanic. Later, while accelerating at 55 mph, your vehicle suddenly lost power and wouldn't accelerate, the steering became hard to turn, and the van became immobile on the road. A mechanic diagnosed an oil leak in the engine and indicated the engine would need replacement.

Electrical System →1 issue
Your rear power liftgate won't stay open when you need to load or unload items — it keeps closing automatically and forcefully, whether you open it manually or with the key fob. This has been happening for 3-4 years, especially in winter, and the gate falls so hard and fast that you or a passenger could get trapped or seriously injured. The liftgate fails even when the van is parked and stationary, making it unsafe to access the back of your vehicle.

Engine And Engine Cooling →1 issue
Your 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan was missing its EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve when you purchased it. You experienced poor acceleration, rough idling, jerking, and stalling while driving, with the check engine light coming on. The dealership confirmed the EGR valve was missing, which caused diagnostic trouble codes P0403 and P0404. Replacing or installing the missing EGR valve should resolve these drivability issues.

Power Train,electrical System,visibility →1 issue
Your vehicle stalled while driving slowly in a parking lot and wouldn't respond when you pressed the accelerator, though it restarted and worked normally afterward. You've also experienced problems with the sliding doors failing to close and lock automatically, and they sometimes opened while driving. Additionally, one of your windows won't roll down. The dealer was contacted but hasn't diagnosed or repaired these issues yet.

Exterior Lighting,air Bags →1 issue
Your headlights shut off when water splashes up under the car during rain, forcing you to pull over and restart the vehicle multiple times to get them working again—though they only stay on briefly before cutting out again. This happens repeatedly in wet conditions. Additionally, your airbag warning light flickers on and off whenever you turn a corner or hit a bump. The issue likely involves water damage to electrical connections and may require inspection of weatherproofing seals and the airbag sensor system.

Structure →1 issue
Your driver's side sliding door is stuck in the locked position and won't unlock using the door lock switch, console switch, key fob, or manual unlocking. A passenger became trapped and had to exit through a different door. The fix will likely involve inspecting and repairing or replacing the door lock mechanism or actuator.

Tires →1 issue
Your Caravan has a temporary spare tire stored near the gas tank that's exposed to the weather with no protective cover. Over time, these spare tires can dry rot and potentially explode, especially if you try to use one. The owner had their spare blow up when they were about to mount it, and they're concerned about the risk of a tire failure near the fuel tank.

Structure,latches/locks/linkages →1 issue
Your sliding door lock actuator has frozen, making the sliding door completely unable to open or close. This means you won't be able to use that door for getting in or out of your vehicle if needed.

Engine,fuel/propulsion System →1 issue
Your gas pump nozzle keeps clicking off when you try to refuel, even though your gas gauge works fine. The fuel pump was replaced twice at a repair shop, but Dodge/Chrysler says the issue is actually a faulty breather tube that's preventing proper fuel tank ventilation during fueling. The repair will likely involve inspecting and replacing the fuel tank breather tube to allow air to escape while the tank fills.
