After the vehicle cool down the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 164,000.

We received notice, by mail, of a safety recall (19V-813) on our Dodge Durango in Jan 2021. We made an appt for 1/13 at Bob Baker Dodge in Carlsbad, CA. Upon arrival, we were told the part was backordered and they would call us when it arrived. Juan Gonzalez was the service advisor we spoke with. In May, after no call, our vehicle began showing signs of the problem. Hesitating, failing to start. We called Juan who stated there were still no parts and he wasn't allowed to keep a list of customers waiting for parts since it would be too extensive. We called Dodge (maybe Mopar) corporate (800-853-1403) on 6/1. Aby gave us a few other dealers to try. After no luck with them, we called back. Tim claimed he would escalate our case and promised someone would call us within 24 hours. After receiving no call, we called again on 6/3. Pam said that our case was never escalated. And had no solution for us. Given the safety recall states "A vehicle stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning" we've now rented a car since we're not comfortable driving our Durango. I feel both Dodge/Mopar and our local dealer are simply dragging their feet on this safety recall.

I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO ANCHORAGE CHRYSLER DODGE IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA FOR FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL REPAIR. THEY STATED THAT OVER THE 3 DAY THEY HAD MY TRUCK THAT IT STARTED EVERY TIME BUT DID STALL OUT TWICE. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO FIX THE RECALL STATING THAT THE NO START ISSUE DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE IN THERE CARE BUT THAT IT DID START AND STALL OUT. IT WAS SUGGESTED TO ME BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT NEXT TIME I HAVE THE ISSUE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO ANCHORAGE CHRYSLER DODGE. MY VEHICLE WILL AT RANDOM NOT START OR WILL START AND STALL OUT. HAVE TRIED THREE TIME TO GET MCKENNY DODGE TO FIX SAFETY RECALL FOR TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE BUT CONTINUE TO BE TOLD THE PARTS FOR A FIX HAVE NOT BEEN PROVIDED. EARLIER THIS YEAR THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY LOST POWER AND THEY REPLACED THE OIL PUMP ($1432). NOW I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY REPLACED CAM POSITION SENSOR ($280) BUT 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT' STILL ON AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS SO NOW THEY WANT TO REPLACE THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH AND OIL FILTER HOUSING FOR OVE $1,000. BUT WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT IT FIXES THE PROBLEM. COULD THE RECALL ISSUE WITH YHE INTERNAL FUEL PUMP RELAY BE CAUSING THE INTERMITTENT HESITATION. WHY WOULD THIS RECALL THAT COULD CAUSE 'AN INTERMITTENT OR FAILED FUEL PUMP RELAY' THAT COULD 'CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING' NOT BE FIXED AFTER BEING IDENTIFIED OVER A YEAR AGO.

THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HER LOCAL MECHANIC, HE SUGGESTED SHE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, BECAUSE HE NOTICED IN THE COMPUTER THE FUEL PUMP RELAY FROM A RECALL, HAD NOT BEEN INSTALLED AND THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE REASON WHY THE VEHICLE DID NOT START. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC, IT WAS REPLACED IN FEBRUARY 15, 2015, WHICH WAS ONE OF THE THREE RECALLS PERFORMED. I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES FROM MY HOME TO VISIT RELATIVES FOR THE 4TH OF JULY. TWO HOURS AFTER ARRIVING I WENT TO DRIVE MY DURANGO AND IT WOULDN'T START. WHEN PUSHING THE IGNITION BUTTON IT WOULD JUST MAKE A LOUD NOISE SIMILAR TO THE ALTERNATOR GOING OUT AND WOULDN'T START. MY DURANGO HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT FOLLOWING MONDAY SINCE THEY CLOSED EARLY FOR THE 4TH OF JULY. DIAGNOSTICS WERE RAN AND IT WAS CONCLUDED THE FUEL PUMP WAS OUT. THIS HAPPENED LESS THAN 1 YEAR FROM HAVING THE TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY REPAIRED ON 7/25/14, WHICH CHRYSLER LATER ISSUED A RECALL FOR. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FOR THOSE REPAIRS. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THERE IS A DIRECT CORRELATION TO THE FAULTY TIPM FUEL PUMP RELAY CAUSING THE ACTUAL FUEL PUMP TO FAIL AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY CHRYSLER. REPAIRS WERE IN EXCESS OF OVER 1K TO HAVE FIXED.

AFTER SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE CAR NOT STARTING FOR NO APPARENT REASON (I HAVE PUSH BUTTON IGNITION), I SUSPECTED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. TODAY, UPON ARRIVING HOME AND SHUTTING MY VEHICLE OFF AND EXITING I FOUND THAT MY VEHICLES FUEL PUMP DID NOT SHUT OFF. IT CONTINUED TO RUN FOR 3 HOURS, UNTIL I PULLED THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE FUEL PUMP. THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLERS TIPM IN 2011 DURANGO MODELS, AS WELL AS OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS USING THE SAME MODULE. THE DANGER THAT A DEFECTIVE TIPM PRESENTS IS QUITE SIGNIFICANT, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO USE THEIR SUV TO TRANSPORT THEIR SMALL CHILDREN. IT IS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TO NOT ADDRESS THE FAULTY NATURE OF A SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS THE ELECTRICAL STIMULUS OF A VEHICLE, AND COULD POTENTIALLY DEPLOY AIRBAGS IN A NON LIFE THREATENING SCENARIO OR STALL THE ENGINE, OR PRESENT ANOTHER DEFECT AT AN INOPPORTUNE TIME THAT WOULD RESULT IN INJURY. THE AUDITING OF THESE DEFECTIVE SYSTEMS SHOULD BE A PRIORITY AND I MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT FEEL SAFE TRANSPORTING MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE, GIVEN THE HIGH VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE ELECTRICAL AND TIPM SYSTEM. CHRYSLER HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO INVESTIGATE THESE ISSUES AND RECTIFY THE PROBLEMS THAT THEIR NEGLIGENCE HAS PRESENTED TO TRUSTING CONSUMERS. WE NOTIFIED THE DEALER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED, BUT THEY DID NOT FIND A SOLUTION. WE INFORMED THE DEALER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM MODULE AND THAT WE FELT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER DENIED THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. IT IS NOW MARCH, 2014 AND IN RECENT DAYS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE'S FUEL LINE RELAY STAYING ENGAGED AFTER WE HAVE TURNED OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS NEW PROBLEM WILL STAY ONGOING UNTIL WE REMOVE THE M20 FUSE. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL BRING IT IN. WE PHYSICALLY WENT TO THE DEALER AND SPOKE WITH A SALES REP. WHO WAS GIVING US THE IMPRESSION HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND SAID THAT NO ONE THERE COULD COME OUT TO HEAR THE SOUND OF THE FUEL LINE REMAINING ENGAGE, WE WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK WHEN A SERVICE PERSONAL CAN HEAR IT AND ADVISE ON IT. WE ARE EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL LINE RELAY REMAINS ACTIVE AND ENGAGED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STANDING, THIS COULD BE POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING IF IT WERE TO BE REAR ENDED OR HIT BY A MOVING VEHICLE. I WAS HAVING TROUBLES WITH THE AUTO START. READ ABOUT A SERVICE BULLETIN (NUMBER: 08-024-11 REV. A) THAT FIXES THE ISSUE WITH A FLASH REPROGRAM HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER SAID THAT MY VIN NUMBER WERE NOT AFFECTED BY THE ISSUE. THEN FIVE DAYS AGO THERE WAS A FAN TYPE NOISE FROM THE REAR BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAN NOISE STAYED ON ALL NIGHT AND DRAINED MY BATTERY. I JUMP STARTED THE CAR AND IT HELD A CHARGE AND RAN FINE BUT THE FAN NOISE NEVER STOPPED. I'M BEING TOLD THAT THE FAN NOISE IS THE ABS STAYING ON BECAUSE THE TIPM IS BAD. I'M SURE THAT PARTS OF THE CAR STAYING ON BY THEMSELVES ESPECIALLY THOSE RELATED TO THE ABS MODULE MUST BE OF SOME SAFETY CONCERN. THE CAR NOT STARTING COULD BE DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP NOT BEING STARTED BY THE TIPM THIS ALSO IS CONCERNING. THE PART IS ON A 800+ BACK ORDER. SO THIS IS AFFECTING OVER 800 CUSTOMERS. I'VE MET ONE PERSON HERE IN MY CITY WHO SAYS HE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING AND 9 OTHER PEOPLE AT HIS DEALERSHIP ARE WAITING ON THIS PART. MULTIPLE POSTERS ARE STATING THAT THEY'VE BEEN WAITING OVER A MONTH FOR A PART AND CHRYSLER IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. FAULTY COMPUTERS THAT KEEP CERTAIN COMPONENTS ON AND OTHERS OFF IS VERY SCARY AND THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE 800+ BACK ORDER IS CONCERNING. NOT TO MENTION THAT A LOT OF THE OWNERS ARE BEING TOLD TO DRIVE THEIR CARS IN THIS CONDITION WHILE THEY WAIT FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. "JUST KEEP TRYING TO START IT MANUALLY UNTIL IT STARTS". PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AND MAKE CHRYSLER TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FAULTY PRODUCT. *JS

MY EXPRESS DODGE DURANGO (PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2011 WITH 4 MILES ON IT) BEGAN EXPERIENCING PROBLEM STARTING ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO AUGUST 2013. IT STARTED TAKING MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO ACTUALLY GET THE ENGINE TO CATCH. THEN LAST SATURDAY, I WENT TO TURN THE CAR ON AND IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DODGE DEALERSHIP IN AUBURN, WA. I JUST RECEIVED A REPORT THAT PROBLEM IS DUE TO A BROKEN FUEL PUMP. HOWEVER,AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THE VEHICLE THIS PROBABLY SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. THE FUEL PUMP IS ON BACK ORDER FOR 2 WEEKS! *TR

MY 2011 DODGE DURANGO STALLED ONE DAY AT WORK WHEN I TRIED TO CRANK IT. IT TOOK 3 TIMES TO START THE ENGINE AND FINALLY IT CRANKED. LATER THAT WEEK WHILE DRIVING I NOTICE THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WENT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES; IT CONTINUOUSLY DID THAT UNTIL ONE DAY IT STAYED ON AND NEVER WENT OFF. I TOOK IT TO GET IT CHECK AND NO CODES SHOWED. THEY STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. SO I KEPT DRIVING UNTIL I NOTICED A HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND IT CONTINUOUSLY STALLED OR DIDN'T CRANK AND THAT'S WHEN I HAD TO HAVE MY HUSBAND JUMP IT OFF. THIS CONTINUED FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH THE TOLD ME THE PCM MODULE WAS BAD BUT WHEN THEY TRIED TO PROGRAM IT, IT SHOWED THAT THE BATTERY WAS BAD SO I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY. ONCE THEY COMPLETED IT THEY STATED THAT THEY STARTED THE DURANGO AND IT STARTED WITHOUT ANY ISSUE BUT WHEN MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO PICK IT UP, IT STALLED AGAIN AND IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO GET IT STARTED. I DROVE IT FOR A FEW DAYS UNTIL ONE DAY I WENT TO THE STORE AND WHEN I CAME OUT OF THE STORE IT WOULD NOT START AT ALL SO I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT SAT THERE FOR ABOUT A WEEK UNTIL THEY FINALLY DIAGNOSED IT AS HAVING A BAD TIPM MODULE (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE).THE SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE TIPM MODULE IS ON BACKORDER (1352 AHEAD OF ME TO BE EXACT). THERE ARE LOTS OF REPORTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVING A BAD TIPM. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON IT. I PRESENTED MY CONCERNS TO CHRYSLER\DODGE ABOUT THIS AND THE ONLY THING I GOT WAS AN APOLOGY. PLEASE, PLEASE INVESTIGATE. DODGE IS USING A BAD PRODUCT AND DON'T WANT TO OWN UP TO IT AND THE CUSTOMERS ARE THE ONES THAT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. *JB

ENGINE WOULD NOT START WITH MULTIPLE IGNITION ATTEMPTS. ENGINE WOULD SPORADICALLY START AND BEGIN TO IDLE, WITHIN SECONDS IDLE RPM WOULD PROGRESSIVELY DECREASE INCITING KNOCKING NOISES AND SEVERE SHAKING, ULTIMATELY CAUSING ENGINE TO SHUTOFF. CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO DISCUSS PROBLEM WITH SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHICH INSTRUCTED THE REMOVAL OF THE PUSH/START BUTTON FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND TO UTILIZE THE KEY FOB FOR IGNITION; CITING POSSIBLE PUSH/START BUTTON MALFUNCTION. THIS IGNITION METHOD RESOLVED PROBLEM FOR INITIAL INCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY, SAME ENGINE IGNITION MALFUNCTION MANIFEST. AFTER MULTIPLE IGNITION ATTEMPTS VEHICLE STARTED AND WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED TIPM MALFUNCTION WITH FUEL PUMP OR FUEL PUMP RELAY. SERVICE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THE TIPM WAS ON INTERNATIONAL BACKORDER WITH NO KNOWN AVAILABILITY DATE. SERVICE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THE DEALERSHIP HAD ALREADY CONDUCTED 9 TIPM REPLACEMENTS AND HAD 4 VEHICLES ON THE LOT CURRENTLY AWAITING REPLACEMENT PARTS. DUE TO LACK OF REPLACEMENT TIPM, VEHICLE IS STILL PRESENTING IGNITION MALFUNCTION AND IS HIGHLY UNRELIABLE IN ITS CURRENT STATE. *JB

MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. DODGE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AT THE TIPM. THERE ARE OVER 800 TIPMS ON BACK ORDER TO DATE WITH AN ESTIMATED 4-6 WEEKS ON EXPECTED DELIVERY. THE DODGE TALK FORUM HAS OVER 900 BLOGS WITH OTHER DODGE VEHICLE OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE TIPM. THE TIPM ON MY CAR IS CAUSING THE FUEL SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION BUT SINCE THE TIPM IS THE FUSE BOX IT CONTROLS MULTIPLE COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICLE. OTHER DODGE OWNERS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH HEADLIGHTS, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, BATTERIES, AND THE LIST GOES ON. DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ONLY WILLING TO OFFER ASSISTANCE IF THE PART IS ORDERED THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEN THE ASSISTANCE IS LIMITED TO EXPEDITING THE PART ORDER. AT THE VERY LEAST DODGE SHOULD OFFER EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PART ITSELF WHICH COSTS $800 ALONE AND WITH INSTALLATION AT THE DEALERSHIP RUNS OVER $1300.
