Your ignition module may unexpectedly shift your key from the ON position to Accessory while you're driving, causing your engine to shut off without warning. This known issue affects 2011 and newer Dodge vehicles, but Chrysler hasn't issued a recall. If your ignition module fails, you'll need to pay out-of-pocket for reprogramming, new keys, and potentially a rental car while it's being fixed.

Your engine is overheating shortly after you start it and let it idle for about 10 minutes. A mechanic replaced the upper and lower coolant hoses and thermostat, but the problem came back and the coolant reservoir got very hot. A second mechanic found that your head gasket has failed. Fixing this will likely require removing the cylinder head to replace the failed head gasket.

The contact was informed that the vehicle was smoking. The contact witnessed smoke emanating from the engine compartment and opened the hood. The contact observed fire emanating from the engine compartment. The fire was extinguished with a fire extinguisher borrowed from a nearby service station. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

My cars fuel pump is being recalled which is causing starting issues and at times the car wont start. When driving the car it feels a bit of a lag or a loss in power. i have called for the recall parts to be fixed at the dealer for months now. they claim there is part issues or shipping issues on the parts. This an important part needs to be fixed and may cause more damage in the future to the engine if not fixed in a timely manner.

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and making a turn or depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle would stall without warning. The contact stated that after each failure, the vehicle would be restarted and operate as designed. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 128,450.

The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Durango. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the temperature gauge was rising and the vehicle was overheating. There was also an antifreeze odor coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled off the road safely and added antifreeze to the coolant reservoir, and then drove home. A local independent mechanic diagnosed that the radiator and thermostat had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 210,000.

The contact was informed that unknown seals in the engine needed to be replaced. The seals were replaced however, the failure recurred. The dealer inspected the vehicle and replaced the wiring harness and the water pump to fix the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

NOTICED A "TAPPING" NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE ON RIGHT DRIVER SIDE. ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE WAS INTERMITTENTLY AFFECTED. TAPPING NOISE WOULD GET LOUDER AT IDLE AND VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE INCREASINGLY MISFIRING AT TIMES. THIS ISSUE AFFECTED DRIVABILITY OF THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY IN HEAVY HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THE DIAGNOSED PROBLEM: CYLINDER 3 MISSFIRE/SEIZED LIFTER ROLLER, ULTIMATELY LEADING TO CAMSHAFT DAMAGE. AFTER REVIEW/INTERNET SEARCHING, APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN 5.7L HEMI ENGINES AND ATTRIBUTED TO EXCESSIVE IDLING. I NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH MY HEMI UNTIL MOVING TO VIRGINIA AND SUBSEQUENTLY SITTING IN TRAFFIC FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME ON I-95 (EXCESSIVE IDLING). IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WHY ARE CONSUMERS NOT MADE AWARE AND MOREOVER, WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM? I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND SOME COST AS HIGH AS $4800. RESEARCH HAS ALSO SHOWN THIS DEFECT OF THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINE IS NOT A RARE OCCURENCE. I REQUESTED ASSISTANCT FROM DODGE, IT WAS DENIED. TODAY'S DATE IS APRIL 10, 2018. OUR 2011 DODGE DURANGO CITADEL BEGAN STALLING AND THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WITHOUT WARNING ON FEBRUARY 25, 2018. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON APRIL 8TH, 2018 AND THEN AGAIN ON APRIL 9, 2018. EACH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED, THERE IS NO WARNING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED MY WIFE WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND ALMOST ENDED UP IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS MAKING A STOP AFTER GETTING OFF AN EXIT RAMP. AND THE MOST RECENT TIME, 4/9/18, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND COMING TO A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE LAST TWO TIMES WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS. THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER, INCLUDING BRAKES AND POWER STEERING, WHICH PROVES A LITTLE CHALLENGING IF MAKING A TURN INTO TRAFFIC. I CALLED CHRYSLER IN THE US BUT BECAUSE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND WAS NOT AWARE THAT IT WAS ORIGINALLY SHIPPED AND TITLED IN CANADA, THE US COMPANY PROVED NOT TO BE HELPFUL. ULTIMATELY, I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS DUE TO THE POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES. I HAVE OWNED 4-5 CHRYSLER PRODUCTS (2005 AND 2011 DODGE DURANGOS, 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WITH AN ENGINE ISSUE AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, POOR CUSTOMVER SERVICE. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND IT COULD BE ANYTHING FROM THE TPIM CONTROL MODULE, THE ALTERNATOR, THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, ETC.

TYPICALLY IT IS WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN AND GOING INTO A TURN OR BIGGER CURVE ON THE ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN BACK TO DODGE TO ASK THEM TO FIX -- DIOGNOSTICS TELLS THEM NOTHING WRONG AND THEY WILL NOT REPLACED THE ALREADY RECALLED (AND REPLACED) PART AS THEY SAY THEY CANNOT CONFIRM IT IS THE CAUSE. MEANWHILE, I AM DRIVING A CAR THAT MAY STALL AT ANYTIME EVEN THOUGH DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND ON DIOGNOSTIC TESTS.

THE STEERING LOCKED, BRAKES LOCKED, WIPERS CAME ON MOVING SLOWLY, THE HEAT CAME ON, ABS BRAKES LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE PARK ASSIST CAME ON. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS DIRECTLY AROUND ME AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHERE MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND STOPPED ON ITS OWN. THE 180 AMP ALTERNATOR WENT AND ALSO FRIED MY PCM. I AM CURRENTLY PAYING OVER $200 TO RENT A CAR. I AM BEING TOLD MY BILL WILL BE ABOUT $2000 TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND PCM. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE AND A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AS THE 160 AMP ALTERNATOR IS ALREADY RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUES. DRIVING AT A HIGHWAY SPEED AND YOUR CAR SUDDENLY COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH. THIS IS THE 3RD MAJOR ISSUE I'VE RAN INTO AS I ALSO HAD MY BATTERY DYING MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP RELAY RECALL. ALSO, I LOST MY BRAKES SUDDENLY AND HAD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILURE RECALL. I DO NOT THINK I WILL EVER BUY A DODGE AGAIN AS THEY DO NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ISSUES. I NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2011 DODGE DURANGO 3.6L, 160 AMP ALTERNATORS AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT AMP MY ALTERNATOR IS BUT MY VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE ALL THE SAME ISSUES AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE UNDER THE RECALL, YET MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? I HAVE BEEN INCONVENIENCED FOR 3 WEEKS NOW HAVING TO GET RIDES TO AND FROM WORK AND HAVE HAD TO CANCEL DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS AND SCHOOL MEETINGS DUE TO THE FACT THAT BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I NEED A VEHICLE AND ARE HAVING TO SHARE 1 VEHICLE WITH 5 KIDS. OUR MOST RECENT ISSUE OCCURRED ON EASTER SUNDAY WHILE TRAVELING WITH ALL OUR CHILDREN, THE BATTERY SIGNAL APPEARED ON OUR VEHICLE BEGAN SMOKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. TO AVOID INJURY, WE HAVE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DODGE DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR REVIEW. WE HAVE HAD 2 DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS GOING ON A 3RD AND NO ONE IS CATCHING ALL THE REPEATED ISSUES. WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE CATALYST CONVERTER 2 TIMES (NOVEMBER 2016 AND APRIL 2017), O2 SENSORS (NOVEMBER 2016), BATTERY (JANUARY 2017), STARTER (APRIL 2017) AND NOW OUR NEWEST ISSUE HAS YET TO BE REVEALED BUT IT APPEARS IT WILL BE THE ALTERNATOR (APRIL 2017). AT WHAT POINT WILL CHRYSLER TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL THE ISSUES WITH THE 2011 DODGE DURANGO. REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL WE HAVE HAD TO PAY FOR FAULTY ISSUES WITH THE 2011 DODGE DURANGO WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THIS DEFECT PREVENTS THE PROPER COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE IGNITION AND FUEL SYSTEMS, WHICH RESULTS IN A VEHICLE THAT HAS PROBLEMS STARTING OR WON'T START ALTOGETHER. MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE LATTER CATEGORY AS IT IS CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER FOR PARTS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND CHRYSLER CORPORATION IS DRAGGING THEIR FEET IN DECLARING IT A RECALL, PRESUMABLY TRYING TO AVOID BAD PUBLICITY. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M STUCK WITH AN USELESS VEHICLE, AND CHRYSLER CORP REFUSED TO PROVIDE A RENTAL VEHICLE WHEN I CALLED THEM ON 13 OCT 2014 BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING IN WRITING STATING THAT THEY KEEP THEIR OWN RECORDS. THE ONLY THING THEY CLAIMED TO BE ABLE TO DO IS PROVIDE A AN EMAIL WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE, FOR WHICH THEY COULD PROVIDE NO ESTIMATE. THEIR CONCLUSION APPEARS TO BE THAT IT IS PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE TO SELL A VEHICLE THAT CAN BE RENDERED INOPERABLE THROUGH THEIR OWN NEGLIGENCE OR POOR MANUFACTURING PRACTICES WITHIN 3 YEARS.AS AN ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBER AN UNRELIABLE VEHICLE IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE OPTION. *TR

WHEN STARTING THE CAR, IT ACTS AS IF IT IS GOING TO START AND CONTINUES TO TURN OVER THEN SHUTS OFF. WE WERE ABLE TO GET IT HOME AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO START IT. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT STARTED UP AS NORMAL. I DROVE IT TO RUN ERRANDS AROUND TOWN. THE FOLLOWING DAY I LOADED UP MY TWO SONS, AGES 3 AND 10 WEEKS IN THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START AGAIN. I LET IT SIT AND THE FOLLOWING DAY IT SHUDDERED AND SHUT OFF TWICE BEFORE JUST ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO TURN OVER WHILE THE RED LIGHTENING BOLT FLASHES ON THE DASH. NOW IT WONT START AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP STATED I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX IT BECAUSE THE RECALL ISN'T OUT YET. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO PAY FOR A RENTAL. THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE AND STILL REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WHAT IF I HAD MY TWO KIDS IN THE CAR AND WAS STRANDED SOMEWHERE? THEY JUST DON'T CARE. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING UP FRONT AND WAIT TO BE REIMBURSED ONCE THE RECALL COMES OUT. NOW I'M STRANDED WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. THIS IS CRAP!!

WENT OUT TO MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AND COULDN'T UNLOCK DOOR WITH KEY, NOTICED A RED LIGHT ON DASH, TRIED TO START MY CAR AND COMPLETELY DEAD. I HAD PROBLEMS STARTING MY CAR. THE ENGINE WOULD TRY TO TURN OVER, BUT WOULD NOT START. I PUT THE IGNITION ON RUN, PUMPED THE GAS A FEW TIMES AND IT WOULD EVENTUALLY START MOST OF THE TIME. TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE WE REPLACED THE TIPM. THAT HAS SO FAR FIXED THE STARTING ISSUE, BUT NOW MY FOG LIGHTS BLINK WHEN I TRY TO USE MY RIGHT TURN SIGNAL. THIS IS PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY AT DANGER WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO USE MY RIGHT BLINKER. THE DEALER HERE HAS SAID THAT WE NEED TO HAVE THE TIPM "FLASHED" IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. SO THE COST OF THAT IS AN ADDITIONAL $125. MY FEAR IS THAT THIS WILL CAUSE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS ISSUES AS I HAVE RESEARCHED AND READ MANY EXPERIENCES BY OTHER 2011 DURANGO OWNERS. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER AND IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH...DEALERSHIPS NATIONWIDE ARE RESTRICTED TO ORDERING ONE MODULE PER WEEK. I BELIEVE THIS ITEM SHOULD BE ON RECALL BECAUSE APPARENTLY OTHERS ARE WAITING FOR THIS PART...SOME OVER A PERIOD OF MONTHS. I NEED MY VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE/CORPORATE WHO HAS BEEN GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND AND EVEN PROMISING ME A RENTAL CAR...BUT NOT MAKING GOOD ON THEIR PROMISE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NATIONWIDE RECALL AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO DODGES/JEEP/ETC AND OBVIOUSLY BY SOCIAL MEDIA VIEWING IT CONTINUES.
