NHTSA Campaign: 21V115000

Component: TIRES

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, XT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, 2018-2021 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, 2019-2020 Chevrolet Blazer, Silverado 1500, GMC Acadia, Sierra 1500, and certain Continental tires sold to the aftermarket for various model year 2018-2021 vehicles. The affected tires were cured for too long during production.

Risk: Over cured tires may develop a break in the sidewall resulting in sudden air loss or a belt edge separation which could lead to a tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tires, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 22, 2021. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N212329050.

Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Camaro, Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The fuel pump may be missing a pressure regulator, allowing for over-pressurization of the fuel system.

Risk: Over-pressurization can crack the fuel pump and cause leaks, increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began December 18, 2019. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192283991.

NHTSA Campaign: 19V761000

Component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK/TRACTION CONTROL/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP:WHEEL SPEED SENSOR/TONE RING

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Yukon, and 2014-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle and four-wheel drive. If a wheel-speed sensor fails, while the vehicle is traveling between 41 and 60 mph in four-wheel or automatic mode, the Electronic-Brake Control Module (EBCM) software may activate the driveline-protection system.

Risk: Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N192261050.

While driving at 65 mph, your Tahoe's engine suddenly revved up and wouldn't respond to throttle input, then reengaged on its own. Later, the transmission wouldn't shift into reverse. The transmission was found to be completely failed and needs full replacement. This happened after 4.9 years of careful maintenance, despite being within the manufacturer's 5-year timeframe but over the mileage warranty limit.

While driving with 8 passengers, your truck began jerking, lost acceleration, and slowed down on its own at 35 mph. Thick white smoke came from the tailpipe when you pulled over. A diagnostic scan showed a misfire in cylinder 1, and the dealership confirmed an internal engine problem. You've contacted multiple mechanics and GM directly, and this issue has been described to you as a known problem with the 5.3L engine, but GM has not issued a recall and is refusing to cover repair costs.

NHTSA #: 11693292

Filed: Apr 2025

Your engine started shaking violently and running rough while idling without any warning lights. The dealership found that piston one failed and broke apart inside the engine, causing complete engine failure. Despite regular oil changes and maintenance, the engine broke down without any diagnostic alerts from the manufacturer.

Your 2020 Tahoe's V8 engine completely seized and stopped working after only 40,000 miles, leaving you stranded. GM was aware of this engine problem but did not issue a recall, and it took over 9 weeks to replace your engine while you covered rental car costs and car payments out of pocket. This could have happened at highway speeds, creating a serious safety risk for you and your family.

NHTSA #: 11638463

Filed: Feb 2025

Your transmission may suddenly lose power while driving at highway speeds, causing the engine RPM to spike and making your vehicle feel like it's in neutral. You might also experience hesitation or delayed engagement when shifting into reverse. This issue may require transmission fluid inspection, filter replacement, or transmission service at a dealership.

NHTSA #: 11640103

Filed: Feb 2026

Your engine's valve lifters failed at about 75,000 miles, requiring replacement of one lifter bank. Within 5 months, the other lifter bank failed and damaged your camshaft. You may notice a tapping noise from the engine when lifters fail, but no warning lights appear. Failed lifters can cause severe engine damage while driving, which is a serious safety concern.

NHTSA #: 11718762

Filed: Nov 2025

While accelerating onto a highway at 45 mph going uphill, your engine RPMs climbed to 3.5 but the vehicle wouldn't accelerate properly. Your service engine light came on, and inspection revealed your transmission fluid was dark and gritty instead of its normal red color. You'll likely need a complete transmission replacement. This issue may require flushing the transmission system and replacing the entire transmission unit.

NHTSA #: 11699156
criticalPOWER TRAIN
Filed: Nov 2024

While driving, your engine RPMs suddenly increased and then your vehicle completely stopped in the middle of the road with no warning signs, sounds, or dashboard warning lights beforehand. You weren't able to move the vehicle to safety, creating a dangerous situation. The transmission is being replaced to fix this issue.

Your engine is making an unusual ticking or lifter noise coming from the valve covers area. You're concerned it may be related to failing lifters, a problem you've heard affects other GM vehicles. You have a dealership appointment scheduled to have this inspected and repaired.

NHTSA #: 11653948
Fuel/propulsion System2 issues
criticalFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Sep 2025

While driving long distance, your check engine light came on after refueling, and your truck stalled with excessive trembling. The dealership discovered that all 8 fuel injectors and both fuel rails were severely corroded and had snapped, making the vehicle undrivable. If this stalling had occurred on the highway at high speed, it could have caused a serious accident. The repair required replacement of all fuel injectors and fuel rails, which took 14 days and cost $4,600 because GM denied the warranty claim based on the vehicle's build date rather than purchase date.

criticalFUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Filed: Sep 2025

Your check engine light came on and off repeatedly, and you noticed your engine idling roughly with hard shifts and hesitation during acceleration. When you checked the oil, it smelled like fuel and appeared thinner than normal. A mechanic found that your high-pressure fuel pump was malfunctioning due to faulty welds—a problem that's been recalled on other Tahoes from the same year. This defect could potentially cause a fire if not repaired.

criticalELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Jun 2025

Your StabiliTrak system has turned off about 5 times over two months at very low speeds (under 5 mph), with the warning light and beep appearing in most incidents. When this happens, you lose power steering and brake power, which is a serious safety concern. The dealer says they can't diagnose the problem unless the warning light is currently on. The fix will likely involve diagnosing the StabiliTrak system's electrical connections and sensors, possibly replacing faulty components or updating the vehicle's software.

Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness1 issue
criticalChest Clip, Buckle, Harness
Filed: Feb 2025

Your car seat's chest clip buckle has failed a safety recall test and is loosening significantly when pulled. The manufacturer is refusing to warranty the defect. This could compromise your child's safety in the event of a crash or sudden braking.

Electrical System1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Filed: Jan 2026

Your car is locking you out by automatically locking the doors even when you're still nearby, and it's not reliably detecting your key fob from a distance—you need to have the fob physically close to the car for it to work. Additionally, when someone opens a door while the engine is running in park and then closes it, your car beeps as if the remote is no longer detected. This happens with both of your fobs even after replacing their batteries, suggesting an electrical issue with the car's keyless entry system rather than the fobs themselves. The fix will likely involve diagnosing and repairing the vehicle's remote keyless entry module or antenna.

NHTSA #: 11709665
Steering1 issue
highSTEERING
Filed: Sep 2025

Your steering system is making creaking and groaning noises that occur at all speeds, likely coming from the rack and pinion component. With 60,000 miles on your vehicle, this could indicate wear or damage to the steering mechanism. You should have a mechanic inspect the rack and pinion assembly to prevent potential steering problems down the road.
