I BOUGHT MY CHEVY TAHOE IN 2012.I WOULD CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 3000 MILES.EVERY TIME MY OIL WAS CHANGED,THE OIL TECH WOULD INFORM ME THAT YOUR OIL IS VERY LOW BY SHOWING ME THE DIP STICK.WHEN I HAD 167,009 MILES,I WAS EXPERIENCING LIFTER NOISE AND OIL CONSUMPTION.I TOOK MY TAHOE TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP WERE THEY FOUND EHAUST LIFTERS AND CAM LOBE WAS WORN.THEY HAD TO REPLACE CAMSHAFT,LIFTERS,OIL PUMP,BOLTS,GASKETS,ETC.VERY EXPENSIVE FIX.NOW THAT,I HAVE MY 5.3 VORTEX MOTOR FIXED,IT STILL CONSUMING OIL.I HAVE HAD MANY OIL CHANGES SINCE MOTOR WAS REPAIRED AND STILL MY 5.3 VORTEX MOTOR IS CONSUMING OIL SHOWING LOW ON OIL DIP STICK.ON 12/5/2020,I HAD A OIL CHANGE AT A OIL CHANGE PLACE AND THE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME THE DIPSTICK WITH THE OIL SHOWING VERY LOW.WHERE IS THIS OIL GOING?
I PURCHASED MY TAHOE FROM THE DEALER BRAND NEW AND ALWAYS TOOK IT TO GET SERVICED AT THE SAME DEALER. IN 2015 I TOOK IT IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A MISFIRE AND THEY REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT AND MACHINED THE HEADS STATING THAT THE VALVES WERE LEAKING. REPAIRS COST NEARLY $3000. THIS YEAR 2018 IN MARCH THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A MISFIRE IN A CYLINDER THE SAME CYLINDER THAT WAS MIFIRING 3 YEARS PRIOR. THEY SAID A ROLLER ON THE ROCKER DISINTERGRATED AND REPAIRS WOULD COST CLOSE TO $6000 THIS IS NOT DUE TO ANYTHING I DID THE VEHICLE DOES EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT. NO HARSH DRIVING OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BUT I THINK IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
TAPPING NOISE IN LIFTERS DEVELOPED AT FIVE DAYS AGO. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS 58,000 MILES. CHEVY DEALER INFORMED US THE REPAIR WOULD BE $4,000-$5000. WE HAVE COMPLETE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR RECORDS ON THE VEHICLE AND PURCHASED IT NEW IN NOVEMBER 2007. WE ARE THE ONLY OWNERS
ENGINE HAS VERY LOUD VALVE TYPE TAPPING NOISE AT IDLE AND IN GEAR. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND ENGINE IS BURNING EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET TAHOE HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND JERK. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN ENGINE OVERHAUL WAS PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
87K MI LIFTER CYLINDER 4 COLLAPSED AND NEVER RE FILLED DUE TO THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM SHUTTING OFF THE OIL AND FUEL TO THIS CYLINDER (ELECTRONIC FUEL MANAGEMENT). AS A RESULT THE LIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, LIFTER ARE LOCATED UNDER THE HEAD.
I BOUGHT MY 2008 CHEVROLET TAHOE BRAND NEW. PEOPLE LAUGH AT ME BECAUSE I'VE ALWAYS DEALT WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON EVERYTHING INCLUDING ALL OIL CHANGES. NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT I HAVE LIFTER AND CAM PROBLEMS. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON 5 MONTHS PRIOR TO BE TOLD THIS. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE OF THE TPS STICKING. I'M A SINGLE MOTHER OF 2. I PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE NOT TO HAVE THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY SINCE I'VE ALWAYS TAKEN MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP. I CANT AFFORD A NEW ENGINE, MY TRUCK IS PARKED AND I HAVE TO GET RIDES TO WORK FROM CO-WORKERS. I CANT SLEEP NOR WORK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,900.
WE HAD THIS SAME RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS TAHOE FOR THE LAST 10K MILES. SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEED OR JUST IDLING, IT WILL DISPLAY A "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND YOU WILL LOOSE ALL POWER. ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING AND LIGHTS AND RADIO WILL WORK, BUT YOU GET NO POWER WHEN PRESSING THE GAS. ITS SCARY BECAUSE IT HAPPENS SO SUDDENLY WITH OUT ANY WARNING. WE HAVE SPEND A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS TRYING TO TROUBLE SHOOT THIS BUT IT HASN'T BEEN SOLVED.. *TR
I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING AND HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO ROBBINS CHEVROLET. *TR
GM IS REFUSING TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE CATALYTIC CONVERTER UNDER WARRANTY MANDATED BY FEDERAL LAW AND APPLICABLE TO RESIDENTS OF MASSACHUSETTS, CALIFORNIA, NEW YORK, VERMONT, AND MAINE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE WHEN THE FIRE STARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING FOR 6 HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRE. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WERE CONTACTED AND RESPONDED TO THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE HOTTEST PART OF THE FIRE WAS ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING, CHECK STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE SPUTTERED. THIS WAS FIRST OF 4 INCIDENTS FROM OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE GM HAS WITH THIS ENGINE. THEY DIDN'T RECALL THE ENGINE, BUT HAD A PROTOCOL - A SERIES OF BANDAIDS THAT SHOPS USED TO REPAIR OR PROLONG. ULTIMATE STEP IS ENGINE REBUILD/REPLACEMENT, WHICH GM DID UNDER WARRANTY FOR THOSE "IN THE KNOW." MY DEALERSHIP IN SMALL TOWN HAMILTON, OH, ROSE CHEVROLET, WAS DROPPED BY GM AND IS NOW INDEPENDENT. NEITHER ROSE OR GM INFORMED ME OF THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. AFTER SPENDING MORE THAN $9-- OUT OF MY OWN POCKET, THE CAR NOW NEEDS PISTONS AND RINGS, FOR ANOTHER $3000. AGAIN, GM KNEW OF THIS ISSUE AND DIDN'T INFORM ME OF IT. HAD I KNOW ABOUT IT, AND THE MAGNITUDE, I WOULD HAVE INSISTED ON REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. I'M A SALES REP AND DRIVE A LOT. THE CAR NOW HAS 146,000 MILES AND I HAVE A CASE NUMBER WITH GM. THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR, REIMBURSE ME FOR MY OUT OF POCKET AND/OR REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE FROM ME. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER QUIT BLOWING AND TODAY WHEN I WENT TO A DEALER FOR HELP HE TOLD ME HOW TO DIAGNOSE THE FAN RELAY, BUT IT PERFORMED CORRECTLY. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT HE HAS SEEN BEFORE ON THE TAHOES THE A/C FAN HARNESS HAS MELTED BEFORE ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK TO A SOFTBALL GAME WHEN I DROVE INTO THE PARKING LOT I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. I PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT AND THE SMELL GOT STRONGER. I DIDN'T REALIZE THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY HOOD UNTIL I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. TWO CITIZENS THAT WERE WALKING BY NOTICED THE SMOKE AND HELPED ME OPEN MY HOOD AND ABOUT THIRTY SECONDS LATER FLAMES STARTED COMING UP OUT OF THE ENGINE BY THE UPPER RIGHT DRIVER'S SIDE. A GUY POURED POWERAIDE ON THE FLAMES AND IT WENT OUT. AFTER I MADE AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND CALLED GM I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE HEATED WASHER FLUID THAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS SPECIFIC ITEM AND I WAS INFORMED THEY HAD FIXED THIS RECALL IN JAN. OF 2009. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2009 NOT KNOWING THERE HAD EVER BEEN A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. GM HAS NOT EVEN SENT A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THEIR COMPANY TO LOOK AT IT OR TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR OUT OF MY OWN POCKETS TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. *TR
