Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 585)
Unknown Or Other →4 issues
While your 2008 Tahoe was parked at a school, smoke began coming from the driver's front seat area and the vehicle quickly caught fire and was engulfed in flames. The fire department extinguished the fire, and no one was injured, but the vehicle was declared a total loss by insurance. The owner suspects an electrical problem caused the fire since the hood wasn't damaged by the flames.

Electrical System,engine →2 issues
Your 2008 Tahoe Hybrid stalls and loses all power when accelerating from a stop, creating a serious safety hazard as other vehicles nearly hit you. Multiple shops and GM's service center have been unable to diagnose the problem despite many error codes being generated, and the dealer refuses to provide inspection documentation. The repair will likely require a full electrical and engine diagnostic scan to identify which system is causing the stalling.

Your car displayed multiple warning lights for ABS, stability control, and the engine, then lost power and shut off completely. This suggests an electrical or engine management system failure that caused your vehicle to stop running.

Air Bags →2 issues
You received a recall notice in February 2021 about a potential airbag malfunction on your Tahoe that could cause severe injury or death, but you haven't received any follow-up information from GM, Chevrolet, or your dealer after seven months. When you checked the GM website, it showed that no parts or repairs were available yet. You'll need to contact GM directly to get an update on when replacement parts and the repair procedure will be available.

Your daughter was in a rear-end collision at 65 MPH, but the airbags failed to deploy despite the impact being severe enough to injure her head against the steering wheel. The OnStar emergency system also didn't activate, which you suspect is related to sensor failure. Your vehicle is part of a safety recall (NHTSA Campaign 21V52000) for airbag issues and should be inspected by a Chevrolet dealer to diagnose why the airbags and sensors didn't work.

Electrical System,air Bags,vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
Your vehicle experienced a spontaneous deployment of the left rear side curtain airbag while parked with the engine running, creating an explosion-like sound. Additionally, you're experiencing multiple electrical and safety system failures: the horn is inoperative, cruise control doesn't work, steering wheel radio controls are non-functional, and the airbag warning light remains on intermittently. These issues likely stem from electrical system problems that require professional diagnosis to identify faulty wiring, sensors, or control modules.

Electrical System,service Brakes,engine →1 issue
Your Tahoe stalls unexpectedly while driving, even at low speeds like at stop signs, and loses electrical power while the engine continues running. Multiple repair shops have struggled to diagnose the issue, with one detecting over 18 diagnostic trouble codes and being unable to determine the root cause. The problem may involve a faulty stability track sensor or another electrical component, and fixing it will require proper diagnostic equipment to identify which sensor or electrical component is failing.

Service Brakes →1 issue
After having your front brake calipers, pads, and rotors replaced, your brakes randomly lose pressure while driving. When this happens, the brake pedal goes to the floor with no stopping power, and warning lights appear on your dashboard. You have to reset the code to regain braking function, but the problem returns unpredictably. The diagnostic code indicates an ABS pressure pump loss issue.

Steering,air Bags,vehicle Speed Control →1 issue
You were in an accident where your vehicle hit a guard rail, but your airbags failed to deploy. Since the accident, your car won't start or run. A mechanic will need to diagnose why the airbags didn't activate during the crash and identify what's preventing the engine from running—this could involve checking the airbag control module, electrical connections, and engine fuel and ignition systems.

Suspension,electrical System →1 issue
Your air ride control module, located under the spare tire in the rear, has deteriorated and the electrical connections have melted, creating a potential fire hazard. You noticed smoke coming from underneath the rear of your vehicle and had to disconnect the module to prevent a fire. Replacing this module typically costs around $500 and involves removing the old module and installing a new air suspension control unit with proper electrical connections.

Steering →1 issue
While making a left turn at highway speed, your steering suddenly lost power and the wheel jerked sharply to the right on its own, nearly causing a collision with other vehicles. Your dashboard displayed a "Service Power Steering" warning message during the incident. You suffered friction burns to your palms and sore finger joints from gripping the wheel during this loss of control. The power steering system will need to be diagnosed and repaired, likely involving inspection of the power steering pump, hoses, and fluid level.

Tires →1 issue
Your new Cooper Discoverer All-Terrain tires were installed with TPMS sensors on all four wheels, but the store initially gave you incorrect information about needing a new battery to reset them. More importantly, at the recommended tire pressure of 44 psi, you're experiencing unsafe handling — the tires feel soft and squishy, and your vehicle's rear end pulls to the side and slides when turning at normal speeds, which is especially concerning when towing. The tires need to be replaced with a different model that provides proper support at the manufacturer's recommended pressure.

Steering,electrical System,structure →1 issue
Your car has multiple issues that need attention: you've already replaced the battery and the right wheel hub, but the left hub also needs repair. You're seeing a warning light on your dashboard that relates to the power steering system, indicating an electrical problem with the power steering.

Seat Belts,structure,service Brakes →1 issue
Your front passenger seatbelt is stuck and won't extend to buckle. When you use your right turn signal, your high beam headlights turn on instead, which can blind other drivers and create a safety hazard. Your back hatch doesn't operate at all, which could be dangerous if you needed it as an emergency exit.

Structure →1 issue
Your vehicle's frame has rusted, and the front right stabilizer bracket has broken off as a result. This could affect your vehicle's stability and suspension performance. The repair will likely involve replacing the rusted bracket and addressing any corrosion on the frame itself.

Electrical System,seat Belts →1 issue
You're hearing a whining or winding noise coming through your speakers when you accelerate, even though the radio is off. Additionally, your driver's side seat belt won't stay latched—it keeps coming undone even when you fasten it correctly. The first issue likely involves electrical interference in the audio system, while the second requires inspection and possible replacement of the seat belt latch mechanism.
