Filed: Oct 2019

Your brake lines have rusted through and failed twice during driving, leaving you without braking power without warning. The first failure occurred during a family vacation after a repair shop topped off your brake fluid, and the second happened 50 miles later while heading to a state fair. You found one brake line completely ruptured and all others severely corroded, which you plan to replace before driving the vehicle again.

NHTSA #: 11266920
criticalSERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Jul 2018

Your brake pedal went all the way to the floor when trying to stop, and your mechanic found that the right front brake line burst with fluid leaking out. All of your brake lines are severely rusted and need to be replaced to restore safe braking. This repair typically involves replacing the brake lines and refilling the brake fluid system.

NHTSA #: 11112535
criticalSERVICE BRAKES
Filed: May 2018

Your brake lines have corroded, which caused you to lose braking power. Corrosion on the steel brake lines reduced their ability to function properly, affecting your vehicle's stopping ability. The corroded brake lines will need to be replaced to restore full braking function.

NHTSA #: 11097884
criticalSERVICE BRAKES
Filed: Feb 2018

Your truck's brakes are engaging the ABS system even during normal, low-speed stops on dry pavement, which is causing you to lose braking power in the final feet before stopping—a critical safety issue. A previous recall (PE05020) addressed this exact problem for other vehicles, but your VIN doesn't show an applicable recall, so the dealership says you'd have to pay for repairs yourself. The ABS system may need diagnostic testing and potentially new brake components or ABS module reprogramming to resolve the issue.

Your ABS brakes are engaging unexpectedly at low speeds (5-15 mph) when you're slowing down for lights or stop signs, making it hard to stop smoothly. You may need to release and reapply the brakes multiple times to get the vehicle to stop without the ABS kicking in. This could involve diagnosing the ABS sensor or control module to identify why the system is triggering incorrectly.

NHTSA #: 11404840

Filed: Dec 2020

Your ABS (anti-lock braking system) and brake warning lights stay on even after you start and drive your Tahoe. This indicates a problem with your braking system that needs diagnosis. A mechanic will need to scan your vehicle's computer for fault codes and inspect the brake system components.

CrashFiled: Dec 2017

Your ABS (anti-lock braking system) is activating when you're driving at speeds under 5 mph on dry roads, even though it shouldn't. There was a recall issued for this problem, but your truck's VIN doesn't qualify for it. This means you may experience unexpected brake pulsing at low speeds, which can be jarring and affect braking feel.

Filed: Jan 2017

Your truck's ABS (anti-lock braking system) is engaging unexpectedly at low speeds below 5 mph, causing the vehicle to lurch forward—the same issue covered in recall #05068, but your VIN was excluded. This problem has been occurring and worsening over the past year. The issue is related to the wheel speed sensors, and fixing it will likely involve inspecting and replacing the faulty sensors.

Air Bags3 issues
criticalAIR BAGS
Filed: Dec 2023

Your car's right-side dashboard airbag deployed twice while the vehicle was idling and parked, with no collision or warning. The airbag went off again after you restarted the engine, even though your car hasn't been in any accident. This indicates a serious malfunction in the airbag system's sensor or control module that needs immediate professional diagnosis.

NHTSA #: 11561356

CrashFiled: Dec 2020

Your Tahoe was involved in a front-end crash into a concrete wall at approximately 25 mph after hitting black ice, but the airbags failed to deploy. You sustained injuries to your knee, shoulder, neck, back, and eye that required medical attention. The airbag system may need inspection to determine why it didn't activate during the collision.

NHTSA #: 11382901
criticalAIR BAGS
CrashFiled: Mar 2017

Your vehicle is subject to a Takata airbag recall. The airbags in your Tahoe may not deploy properly in a crash, leaving you and your passengers without critical protection. This issue requires immediate attention from a dealership to have the affected airbags inspected and replaced.

NHTSA #: 10959170
Seats2 issues
highSEATS
Filed: Aug 2020

The cables that allow you to fold down the second row seats to access the third row have failed, leaving your third row seats inaccessible. If anyone needed to exit quickly in an emergency, they could be trapped since all the rear seat cables are broken. You'll need to have the seat cable assembly replaced to restore access to the third row.

NHTSA #: 11343351
highSEATS
Filed: Sep 2018

The cable that operates your rear seat folding mechanism has broken, which prevents you from folding down the rear seat. This blocks access to the third row of seating, and passengers sitting in the third row cannot exit the vehicle through that door. The repair will likely involve replacing the broken seat cable assembly.

Crash / FireFiled: Jan 2020

While driving 25-30 mph around a curve, your steering suddenly stopped responding, causing you to lose control and roll your vehicle twice, landing upside down. None of the airbags deployed during the crash, and you required emergency hospitalization. This issue may involve inspection of the steering system components and airbag sensor systems to determine why they failed to function.

FireFiled: Jul 2019

Your seat caught on fire due to faulty wiring underneath the seat. This is a serious electrical hazard that created a fire risk in your vehicle. The problem likely involves damaged or short-circuiting wires in the seat's electrical system that need immediate inspection and replacement.

NHTSA #: 11231482
Engine1 issue
highENGINE
Filed: Sep 2025

Your vehicle needs new exhaust manifold bolts, which have been identified as a recurring issue on this model. Loose or failing bolts can allow exhaust fumes to leak into the cabin, potentially exposing you and your passengers to harmful gases. The manufacturer hasn't issued a recall for this problem. Getting the bolts replaced should seal the exhaust system properly.

highWHEELS,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Filed: Sep 2022

Your right wheel feels unstable and may be loose, which is triggering your ABS and emergency parking brake warning lights. Your emergency parking brake has engaged on its own while driving, forcing you to pull over and stop. You're also noticing a strong gasoline smell when the engine is running or idling. These issues likely involve the wheel hub bearing, tie rods, the parking brake system, and a fuel system leak that should be inspected soon.

NHTSA #: 11486136
Steering1 issue
highSTEERING
Filed: Jul 2020

Your steering wheel feels overly loose and unresponsive, with a noticeable delay between when you turn the wheel and when the vehicle actually responds. This sluggish, boat-like handling is particularly noticeable since the vehicle sits unused between drives. The issue likely involves worn steering components or fluid problems that need inspection and possible replacement.

Electrical System,service Brakes,engine1 issue
highELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE
Filed: Aug 2019

Your Tahoe has multiple issues: the engine is leaking oil, both front and rear brakes aren't working properly, and the starter is failing. You're also experiencing intermittent check engine warning lights that come and go, problems with the rear window controls, audio system failures, worn bald tires on the front driver side and rear passenger side, and seat belts that are difficult to latch securely. These problems will likely require visits to a mechanic to replace or repair the engine gaskets, brake components, starter motor, and tires, plus electrical diagnosis for the warning lights and window/audio issues.

NHTSA #: 11241900
Exterior Lighting1 issue
mediumEXTERIOR LIGHTING
Filed: Aug 2020

Your running lights have failed repeatedly, requiring about 30 replacements on both the right and left sides since 2015. Eventually the lights burned out so severely that even new bulbs won't work anymore, suggesting an underlying electrical or fixture problem beyond just the bulbs themselves. The fix will likely involve inspecting and repairing the wiring, sockets, or light housings rather than just replacing bulbs.
