SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:HEAD RESTRAINT
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH REARWARD FOLDING HEAD RESTRAINTS ON THE SECOND ROW SEATS, TWO POTENTIAL PINCH POINTS EXIST ON EACH OF THE FOLDING HEAD RESTRAINTS WHEN THE RESTRAINTS ARE FOLDED REARWARD AS THE SEATBACK IS FOLDED DOWN.
Fix: DEALERS WILL INSTALL PROTECTIVE COVERS OVER THE PINCH POINTS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN NOVEMBER 8, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-222-1020, GMC AT 1-800-462-8782, OR CADILLAC AT 1-800-458-8006.

MID YEAR IN 2006 THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT IN MY TAHOE STARTED TO SLIDE ON ITS TRACK ABOUT 2 TO 3 INCHES, BACK AND FORTH. THEN ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE SEAT SLIDES BACK AND FORTH ABOUT 4 INCHES. THIS IS VERY HAZARDOUS WHEN DRIVING, BECAUSE WHEN YOU ACCELERATE THE SEAT SLIDES BACK WITH A BANG, AND IF YOU COME TO A QUICK STOP, THE SEATS SLING YOU FORWARD. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHICH TOLD ME TO CONTACT CHEVROLET CUSTOMER CARE. I EXPLAINED TO THE I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE WAY THEY ASSEMBLED THE SEATS. IF IT HAPPENED IN JUST ONE SEAT I WOULD AGREE, IT IS NOT A DEFECT, BUT THIS HAS GRADUALLY HAPPENED TO BOTH SEATS. AND THERE ARE OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE. THE DEALERSHIP DENIES THIS IS A DEFECT, AND THEREFORE CHEVROLET IS DENYING THIS IS A DEFECT. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE WITH THIS PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER USING THE HEATED SEAT FOR ONE AND A HALF MILES, IT SHORTED OUT. THIS CAUSED MINOR BURNS TO THE DRIVER. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED THE SEAT COVER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *JB *AK
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE FRONT SEATS WOULD SLIDE ON THE RAIL. THE PASSENGER SIDE BEGAN TO DO THIS FIRST AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. BOTH SEATS ARE NOW SLIDING ABOUT 5 INCHES BACK AND FORTH. THE GM MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO SEE IF IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND MAYBE THEY COULD WORK WITH HIM TO GET IT CORRECTED IF IT WAS A DEFECT. *JB
CHILD WAS ADJUSTING MIDDLE ROW SEAT, CHILD'S LEFT HAND WAS GUIDING SEAT, AND WAS BEING GUIDED DOWN WITH CHILD'S RIGHT HAND. CHILD'S FINGER WENT INTO A PART ON HEAD REST, AND HEAD REST AUTOMATICALLY RETRACTED ON CHILD'S MIDDLE FINGER, CAUSING LACERATION TO CHILD'S FINGER. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE HEAD RESTS WERE DANGEROUS DUE TO EXCESSIVE SPRING LOAD METAL TO METAL PINCH POINT. *YH

REAR SEAT LATCH BROKE. DEALER STATED THERE WERE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS. *AK PARTS WERE FOUND AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THE SEAT WAS FIXED. *YH
