Your gas pedal has become stuck twice in the past week while accelerating, causing your vehicle to speed up uncontrollably. When you shift into neutral, the engine continues revving, and the pedal remains pressed all the way to the floor until you stomp on it repeatedly for about 20 seconds to unstick it. This is a serious safety issue that could happen while driving on busy streets or highways. The fix will likely involve inspecting and cleaning or replacing the gas pedal mechanism and its linkage to the engine.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AUTOMATICALLY. THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE INCREASED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, POWERED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
