2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Transmission Problems

I was driving normally and all of a sudden it started wanting to downshift from 5th or 6th gear to 2nd or 3rd gear when going up a tiny incline which normally wouldn't be cause for any downshift. I saw it was funky and a mile later, I lost all power and had a variety of check engine lights. I pulled over, cleared them and restarted the truck.

RPM increases between 4 and 5.5k but unable to acceleration after descension from hill while driving on I-17. It appears my transmission/gears slip following hill descents. I have had this hard jerking and slamming of my transmission in my truck since I purchased it brand new. Truck is at 130,000 and the transmission is about failing drastically. I have been telling the dealer that there was a problem with the transmission since 80-90k which the truck seemed to "slip" out of gear and slam into gear, was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I've heard that this year truck is known to have a bad transmission and nothing has been done to fix the issue.

Truck has 104,000 miles on it. Saturday it stopped going into any gear and would not move, clearly the transmission. It initially was jerking as I pulled into a side street and once I got to where I needed to be and tried to drive again, it wouldn't go into any gear.

Ever since I purchased my truck in early 2017, the 8 speed automatic transmission shift from 1st to 2nd gear at low speeds has been extremely hard. I have had the dealer look into this over 6 times already, and on one occasion it had been "reprogrammed" and on one occasion a part had been changed.

The transmission shutters, radles, and pings upon light acceleration. It has a delay before down shifting, it occasionally makes a loud clunk when putting into drive I dont know if the afm has part in these issues. If you drive with hard acceleration then it only pings sometimes and kind of sounds like an older 80 model v8 with a timing knock.

The first set of brake pads were gm replacement, they did not stop the truck as well as the original. So I replaced the pads with raybestos brake pads, still not satisfied with the stopping distance. Again I went with napa ceramic pads they caused the breaks to squeal when the brakes were applied.

Transmission is jerky, and dealership says it's not safe to drive. Faulty transmission wiring harness and heat sensor. Truck has been at dealership for 18 days and gm has no estimate as to when the wiring harness will be available.

Brake vacuum pump issues dealers aware of issue & have an updated vacuum pump available. Transmission issues were it down shifts hard at times & has a bad shattering when upshisting at low speeds took it 2 times before warranty expired said was just a software update. Never took care of issue.

Transmission shudder occurred at highway speeds in september 2017. Gm technicians said they could not find it. Shudder spread to all speeds - especially at low speeds going uphill.

When driving truck especially while cold shifting extremely hard and also making a clunk when comint to a stop like the u-joint is bad or slack in the rear end took truck to chevrolet at least 6 times they calibrated the gears replaced the control module and the truck continued to do the same thing I finally got fed up with it and traded it in on a 2017 now I am already hearing and feeling the clunk when I stop this will be my last chevrolet!!!!!!!

This vehicle (2016 silverado) has all the characteristics associated with the "chevy shake", an unresolvable driveline under seat vibration that is very severe at times. Gm has issued service bulletin pi1354c which I followed at my expense to reduce / eliminate the severe shake that occurs at speeds of 69 ' 79 MPH with no improvement.

Transmission will make a hard shift sometimes, mostly at low speeds and light trottle. Feels like you just hit a large pothole.

I purchased a 2016 silverado lt leftover in feb of 2017 with 44 miles on it. I noticed a vibration while accelerating and deceleration and at about 70-80 MPH. I figured it was the gm factory 22 inch rally 2 edition wheels being in balanced and since I was changing the wheels and tires at 1000 miles anyway I figured it would go away.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact coasted into a parking lot and noticed that the front passenger side axle independently shifted to the rear of the chassis, which potentially caused a spark to the tires.

Vehicle shakes at speeds above 60 MPH. The shake is in the vehicle and not in the steering wheel. Tires have all been replaced under warranty and problem still exists.

I am having an issue with my new 2016 silverado and a vibration at highway speeds. I took the truck back to the dealer where it was purchased with around 340 miles on it. I was told they could do nothing until I had 1000 miles on the truck (they stated they could not get paid by chevy for warranty items).

The issue(s) that I am experiencing all appear to be with the trucks 8 speed transmission. The first two occur during breaking and the third happens when accelerating from a 'cold' start.

I bought a 2016 chevy silverado 1500 ltz z71 and it vibrates at idle and the transmission is slipping. I had already took it to the dealership to get it fix, but no luck. Gm told me that is how the truck is designed to operate, which is hard to believe.

Stability track came on left me stuck a On train tracks and middle of an entersection

This vehicle has been driven only on highway and local paved suburban roads. Fully maintained per Manufacturer recommendations. This vehicle has never been used to tow.

Transmission completely destroyed. Transmission known to have various problems had in shop twice and still not right! Total cost so far is 4800 dollars

Torque converter

Transmission valve body failure, first failure around 28-30000 miles, second failure at 44,000 miles. Truck has been at Chevy garage for two weeks, I still have no answer on part or remedy

5th and 6th gear in the transmission quiet working due to the torque converter being bad while I was driving down interstate which caused the valve body in the transmission to go bad

While driving down the road my engine started revving and would not move and while driving on a highway 2 days ago the transmission starting studdering.

Torque converter got stuck off

At 143,000 miles my transmission stopped transmitting engine power to the wheels

Transmission temperature sensor failure exactly as described in special coverage N192291660 occurred on my vehicle.

I was driving down the road when the transmission would no longer change gears. There were no warning lamps or anything to indicate that this was going to happen.

Vehicle takes 6 seconds before it does a hard shift into reverse. It also has hard jerks when switching gears. In April it was taken to Don Hall in which I was told that is how this model does and nothing could be done even though it was under a paid for extended warranty.

Barking system. it seams like when I’m in the city the brakes will not engage properly, at some point I’ve had to use the emergency brake to stop. on the freeway the brakes work good but when running at low RPM it’s like the brakes go to the floor and the truck is still moving.

My truck has 123,700 miles on it. I took my truck to M&T auto mechanic in Grandville, Michigan. They advised me I need a new transmission.

The transmission failed while driving on a highway the transmission went into limp mode reducing speed down to 1st gear almost causing a wreck . Codes read p0700 and p0796 .after drawing transmission fluid it looked like water in there fluid but I found out it's glycol. There is a recall on my year make and model but not by my VIN .

Torque converter failed causing destruction of transmission.

Torque converter in the transmission Is shuttering hard enough to make the entire vehicle shake. Could cause the driver to panic and cause them to loose control of the vehicle while trying to figure out what is happening to the vehicle.

Vehicle transmission slips and shifts extremely hard up until it suddenly failed.

Truck isn’t shifting after 2nd gear when warmed up. Shut it off for a few mins and it shifts fine. If driven more than 20 mins starts doing it again.

I had to replace the transmission and pay out of pocket because my transmission went out due to the recalls that was never sent to me and I was never notified until now.

Truck has hard downshift from 2nd to 1st gear. Has been serviced two times With module replacement and issue is not resolved.

At around 80,000 my transmission in my truck started given me problems. I now have to replace the entire transmission. I am the only owner of my truck.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 35-45 MPH, the vehicle would jerk forward, then decelerate, and jerk forward again. The vehicle was awaiting diagnosis by an independent mechanic.

Vehicle shifts really hard when slowing to a stop or when accelerating. This has been a problem since the truck was brand new but chevy said there is nothing wrong. It does not happen every time but I'd say it's atleast a few times every trip.

Since purchased, truck shakes at about 70 MPH. Original tires were mounted and balanced - still shakes. New set of tires were put in - still shakes at 70+MPH.

When I started to pull off from a red light driving the vehicle around 30-35 MPH the tachometer starts jumping 150 to 200 rpms and a rattle starts coming from under the truck. I believe it is the torque converter starting to come apart. I've talked to several mechanic shops and they stated this was a common issue with these trucks.

Transmission shifts violently at times. Feels as if something ran into the truck and scares you when it happens.

I eased the vehicle into the parking space, released the gas pedal, and it surged/jumped forward. My vehicle pushed the other vehicle in opposite parking space about a foot, causing damage to both vehicles.

At times when slowing to a stop the vehicle jumps forward before stopping. When making slow turns, like in a parking lot, the vehicle will jump forward or lag sometime when shifting gears.

The front seat shifts around when cornering. The truck shifts constantly. It can never find the correct gear when it needs one.

While driving the transmission clunks into gear many times. It will clunk into gear when down shifting and upshifting and almost feels like a bad u joint but its the transmission. Feels very sloppy.
