2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Brakes Problems

Your brake pedal became soft and spongy, and wouldn't work properly while driving. No warning light appeared on your dashboard. I was pulling up behind a vehicle that was entering the highway when I noticed that the driver had to yield to oncoming traffic and did not continue driving. My safety was put at risk, as this could have resulted in a major accident.

For the last month or so, occasionally when I am going anywhere around 30-60 and I press the brakes, the vehicle will lose power for a few seconds and Stabilitrak is activated. It has locked up the brakes twice in the last 2 weeks when I was parking and could have caused an accident and if it happens when I am driving, I worry that it will cause an accident.

The failing system is the hydraulic brake system. The brakes are failing in my vehicle causing it hard to stop, and having to press extremely hard on the brake for extended periods of time in order to properly stop. As I first push on the brakes I hear a squeak.

While driving my truck I was in line picking up my kids from school when pulling up close to the car infront of me my brakes got extremely hard and the truck kept slowly moving forward so I pressed harder to make sure I wouldn't accidentally hit the car. I have tooken my 2016 Silverado 5.3 that I bought brand new 4 times to get fixed for a brake recall, it is still not fixed even though in their records it’s fixed, I have had several near misses but I am always ready with the e brake. The brakes get super hard out of no where and I can’t brake at all. Recently I hit 2 vehicles because of this recall.

Braking ability significantly decreases when in reverse and also sometimes when traveling at very low speeds like pulling into the driveway or into a parking spot. The brake will be fully applied, and vehicle will continue to move. This can cause a very dangerous collision and potentially cause death or serious injury to the vehicle passengers and/or passengers of vehicles encountered.

Brakes fail at low speed. I have seen numerous reports of this problem dating back to 2018 and nothing seems to be happening with a recall. This is a very danger problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

I owen chevy 1500 2016. I received recall on the truck when saw it I was surprised do too I got to two car accident before I receive the recall. After contacting gm motor they said the is the software need update however it didn't end there still have problems with the brakes and gm denied any involvement of the two accident.

Brakes locked up wile,driving for a second time in less than a month , the first time was 07/13/2019 depaua chevrolet had to 0rder electrical moduals called ebcm and bpmv that was suppose to be the reason the brakes locked up it took a month for them to get parts and now the brakes have locked up again after spending $2512.02 toget them repaired .

On two occasions while driving at slow speeds in stop and go traffic the brakes did not work properly causing the stopping distance to dramatically increase. As a result I narrowly missed striking other vehicles on multiple occasions. The average driving speed was under approximately 5 MPH.

At slow speeds my brakes are not working, I notice it most when trying to park. It happens sometimes but not always.

They get so tight you have to put all weight and force possible in them to stop. There is a recall (N182202780) for certain models of gm apparently, but my truck does not fall under the recall though it is the same exact problem with the brake vacuum. When pumping my brake pedal, my brakes become almost non responsive, causing me to back into my secondary vehicle.

ABS is activated at low speed. Hard pedal and stopping is almost impossible at speeds less than 5 MPH in forward or reverse drive.

At low speeds, the brake pedal requires much more effort but doesn't engage as quickly as normal driving, so the car still rolls forward even though the brake pedal is fully depressed. This is problematic when parking or at stop signs or stop lights. Plus, it is very dangerous.

On 09/22/2022, the power assist for the brakes suddenly and without warning failed during slow forward and reverse maneuvering in a parking lot, resulting in an increase in brake pedal pressure and travel to slow and stop the vehicle. Contact with a proximate vehicle was narrowly avoided. A service brakes message appeared in the central information panel between the tachometer and speedometer.

At low speeds the brakes become hard and vehicle will not stop requiring increased stopping distance. It appears there is a recall for this, but my VIN does not seem to be included. Reference NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000.

While back 1,200 pound boat and trailer down a boat ramp, the brake pedal sank to the floor and the vehicle kept rolling. I had to pump it several times to stop it. This has happened every time I go to a boat ramp.

The 8th of november 2018 while traveling through austin, tx - in heavy traffic; I nearly rear-ended another vehicle - the brakes got real hard, but the vehicle kept rolling. I stopped to eat at a restaurant and my brakes got extremely hard and my truck did not stop I used both feet to jam the brake down as hard as I could to stop. There was a car in front of me but it was pulling out as I pulled in. My truck would have struck this vehicle if it weren't for them pulling out.
