2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Electrical Problems

Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the Service Stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened twice at highway speed (65mph) and several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned.

My vehicle just randomly shuts off, mainly when making a turn. I took it in to the dealership and had several repairs made but none of them fixed the problem. It’s definitely dangerous I almost had a accident at least 3 times.

While in reverse and turning stabilitrack light appears and jerks steering wheel from hand. Then a total loss of power and gait to start. No dash panel or power to vehicle.

Vehicle entertainment center has intermittent issues with the hands free, bluetooth connection. The system reverts back to non hands-free operation or mutes the call randomly. The entertainment center also randomly scrolls, selects radio stations and changes modes when not in a call.

I turned on the rear defrost to the vehicle. Within about 30 seconds, I saw smoke rising from the center part of the rear window as if the defroster had started a fire. I immediately turned the rear defrost off and the smoke ceased.

Started by vehicle with remote start. Rear window defrost was on. I did hear some crackling noise by the window, but after getting things around forgot about it.

The radio fail to provide audio warning when the key has been left in the ignition and the door is open-door when the driver does not fasten their seat belt ,driver is at greater risk of injury in a crash. Driver can't hear when the turn signal and radio when dead .

There was a hissing sound and smoke in the area of the rear power sliding window, I had read about this concern online and was able to shut my rear defroster off before it blew out the back window but not everyone is that lucky. Gm has a bulletin about a small water leak in the same area but does not acknowledge that it is related to the rear window shattering.

Entire instrument cluster went out while driving causing loss of needed information such as speed and other pertinent information. Dealer says there is a TSB that the entire truck has to be re-flashed including all modules in the vehicle because it does not recognize the instrument cluster. During this time, all safety systems flashed and appeared to be inactive.

We have replaced the engine twice and the transmission once spending 18,000 dollars on a truck that was 54,000 plus dollars that we bought in 2019 and we still owe over 5 grand on currently.

I was door dashing then a service alert came on the dash… I had pulled over to check what it meant about the trailer brake system. I have never towed or have a trailer to tow around! So continued to drive then my truck cut off then cut on while I was trying to make a turn.

My local Chevy dealer has confirmed that the human machine interface (HMI) module has failed on my 2016 Chevy Silverado, causing the back-up camera to be inoperable. The camera is absolutely necessary at night when backing up due to window tinting and I believe this to be a safety-related issue. There currently is a nationwide back order on a replacement HMI module.

Rear Defroster malfunction. After starting the vehicle smoke was coming from the rear cab of my truck in the area that the power sliding window meets the rest of the rear window. In the same area, one of the metal strips for the defroster was glowing red hot.

I made a turn at an intersection going 0mph to 10mph (low speed) and the engine shut down. Luckily I had a enough momentum to clear the intersection and not get t-boned. I was able to put the vehicle into neutral and start it again to drive off.

Happened 2x (3/15/18 & 10/31/18) in motion @ 70mph on highway the instrument cluster reset. Gauges dropped to 0, pegged out at top, then began reading properly, similar to the vehicle starting. All other screens went black and reset themselves.

All forms of sound on the vehicle stops, for example the radio shuts off, turning signals work but no sound, door sounds, seatbelt alarm etc. None of these sounds work. Gm wireless charging in my 2016 silverado isn't comparable with any modern devices. It only works with their recommended devices which wasn't stated when I bought the truck new from the dealership.

The ignition switch is defective the truck will not turn on all the time I have to play with the shift lever and key to get it started

Trailer brake system warning has been flashing non stop for 2 weeks. I do not use or tow anything with this vehicle. Usually it locks up the steering wheel while parking my truck and shuts down the engine.

Myself, My wife, and my oldest son have all three experienced a loss of complete power in the truck during turns. All power on the dash, steering, and stereo goes out. The last incident required my wife to put the vehicle in park and turn the truck off and back on to get it to start.

I put in a complaint in back in July and haven’t heard anything back. I was wondering what the status was? The complaint was about My stabilitrak and my trailer brake system repeatedly comes on and off

The mylink infotainment systems keep glitching changing on it own. Gmc has this problems with several models of thier cars with the mylink system in it over the past few years and there has not been a solution to this problem. They either need to change the system to a newer updated model or come up with a solution.

Service trailer brake system and stalilitrak warning continually pops up due to faulty wiring

The trailer brake system dings on the dash board constantly, causing the brakes to malfunction and studder which is causing an increased risk of for safety incidents to happen.

Rear defroster where power sliding window meets started smoking while defroster was in use. Reference TSB# n192265660 rear window defroster thermal events . This is a replica of that issue, but have thus far been told by GM corporate that vehicle is not eligible under the released customer satisfaction program.

"Trailer Brake System" (TBS) warning indicator malfunction. Out of nowhere the TBS warning message and chime started malfunctioning. The malfunction is irregular and often so frequent the vehicle is un-drivable.

My left head light left turn signal, horn , hazards on my left side and window washer fluid all is not working

Vehicle was stationary, in driveway of residence, running after being started with remote start. Temperature outside was about 35f. Front and rear window defrosters typically come on when the vehicle is remote started in the winter months.

The vehicle completely loses power for a split second. After this incident happens, the display says lower then raise the driver side window all the way. The ambient temp reading goes to 32 and displays warning possible freezing conditions.

I was attempting to open the door to remove my child, the door would not open.I then began to problem solve the issue and realized the rear passenger door does not lock with key fob or unlock manually or with key fob. The door will lock manually but I can not open the door from inside manually, it will not unlock from the drivers side control unlock, or with the key fob.

About 6 months ago now, under slow speeds and making a turn most of the time, my truck will shut down and jerk the wheel from my hands aggressively. This has happened about 20 times so far. About a week ago, I hit the gas to make a pass, the truck down shifted and shut down on me for about 5 second going down the highway.

Horn will not sound when depressing steering wheel horn button. The horn will sound when using key fob to lock the doors. This happens when the vehicle is moving and at a stop.

I've had nothing but issues with this truck from day 1 drove off the lot with 3 miles. 5000 miles power inverter shorts out. Then the windshield washer motor.
