FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
TI AUTOMOTIVE IS RECALLING CERTAIN FUEL PUMPS, PART NUMBERS TU456 AND TU303, SOLD UNDER VARIOUS BRAND NAMES AS AFTERMARKET AND REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR THE MOTOR VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP MAY SEIZE, STOPPING THE FUEL FLOW TO THE ENGINE CREATING A STALLING CONDITION.
Fix: TI AUTOMOTIVE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF RECORD AND WILL REPLACE ANY DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP WITH A NEW OR REWORKED FUEL PUMP FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 22, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TI AUTOMOTIVE AT 1-866-867-3759 OR LOG ON TO WWW.RECALLRESPONSE.COM.

MY CHECK GAS CAP KEEPS COMING ON N MY CAR IS LEAKING GAS FROM THE FUEL PRESSURE LINE N UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE SO I CHECKED FOR A RECALL ON THE CAR WHICH IT SEEMS TO ME IT SHOULD HAVE ONE BUT DOES'NT IT'S CLEARLY A FACTOR DEFECT IF ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE IT LEAKS WHEN THE KEY IS ON I WON'T DRIVE IT FOR TWO REASONS ONE WHO CAN AFFORD TO HAVE THEIR GAS LEAKING AND TWO I'M AFFRAID IT COULD BLOW-UP WHILE DRIVING IT. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR A MONTH AGO SO REALLY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE ISSUE ACTUALLY BEGAN.
FUEL PUMP RECALL
"TAKATA RECALL" THERE IS ALOT OF COMPLETION OF THE FUEL GAGE READING WRONG AFTER U FILL THE TANK UP. I WILL FILL UP ON GAS AND MY GAGA WILL READ EMPTY AND WILL TELL ME LOW FUEL. THIS WILL GO AND FIX IT SELF AFTER IT RUN FOR ABOUT 20 MILES. ONLY HAPPENS AFTER I FILL IT UP.
DRIVING THEN ONE DAY GAS GAGE TURN OFF SAYING EMPTY ALL THE TIME HARD TO PUSH ON GAS
MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR A TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN FEBRUARY OF 2015 AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT PER THE RECALL. ON MARC 27TH 2016 THE SHIFT CABLE CAME OFF OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER AND I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE. I TURNED THE MOTOR OFF AND NOW THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS DUE TO THE INCLINE I HAD STOPPED ON. SINCE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE I WAS UNABLE TO START THE CAR. THE BRAKES WERE INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE THE MOTOR WAS NOT RUNNING. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN MY GARAGE SO I HAD MY WIFE PUT A SCRAP OF WOOD BEHIND THE TIRE SO IT WOULD NOT ROLL OUT INTO THE STREET. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THAT DID THE RECALL WORK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL SERVICE WAS ONLY WARANTEED FOR 1 YEAR. I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE ORIGINAL RECALLED PART LASTED FOR 11 YEARS AND THE REPLACEMENT PART ONLY LASTED FOR 13 MONTHS. SINCE THIS WAS A RECALLED ITEM WHY ISN'T IT REPAIRED BY THE DEALER UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL BULLETIN? ONCE A RECALL ALWAYS A RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CAR CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11E009000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,629.
FILLED UP WITH GAS STARTED THE CAR HEADED DOWN THE ROAD AND THE GAS GAUGE DROPPED DOWN THE E AND SHOWED LOW FUEL. THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER THE GAUGE WENT BACK UP THE F. NOW THE GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN ALL THE TIME. THE ONLY WAY FOR ME KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IS TO LOOK AT THE READ OUT ON DISPLAY. I HAVE TO KEEP TRACK OF HOW MANY MILES I'M DRIVING IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE I DON'T RUN OUT OF GAS. *TR

THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2006, I WOULD DRIVE TO A LOCATION SHUT THE CAR OFF COME BACK OUT (DOSE NOT MATTER HOW LONG OF A TIME I WOULD BE WHERE IM AT) TRY TO START THE CAR, IT STARTS AND THEN DIES, THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS MORE THE ONCE IN A ROW, BY THE SECOND AND THIRD TRY IT WOULD START AND BE FINE AFTER THAT. THE LAST TIME IT DID IT AT AN INTERSECTION, THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE IDLING, IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO START IT BACK UP. DURING THIS TIME I ALMOST GOT HIT TWICE BY DIFFERENT CAR. I HAVE HAD THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECKED AND EVERYTHING IS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE. I SAW A RECALL FOR MALIBU'S ABOUT THERE FUEL SYSTEMS. IM WONDERING IF THE MAXX TYPE IS PART OF THAT PROBLEM AS WELL. *TR

I BOUGHT THIS CAR NOVEMBER 02, 2011 DROVE IT HOME. THE VERY NEXT DAY I NOTICE THE CRANKING ISSUES. THE CAR WILL CRANK RIGHT UP OF THE MORNINGS, BUT AFTER IT WARMS UP IT COULD TAKE UP TO 5 TIMES. THE CAR WILL SHAKE AND DIE. SO I HAVE NO WARRANTY FOR THIS CAR I BOUGHT USED. SO IT'S LIKE I AM STUCK WITH IT UNTIL IT'S PAID FOR. SO I GOOGLE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CAR FOR ANY RECALLS AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THE FUEL PUMP HAS OR NOT BEEN REPLACED FOR THIS CAR. MY MECHANIC TELLS ME IT IS MY FUEL PUMP. THE CONTACT NOTICED A GASOLINE LEAK IN FRONT OF THE EXHAUST AS HE WAS DRIVING AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHO ATTEMPTED TO SEAL THE FRACTURE WITH EPOXY BUT THE REMEDY FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF THE RECALL RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) AND STATED THAT HIS MODEL VEHICLE WAS SUFFERING FROM THE SAME DEFECT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED A STRONG GASOLINE FUEL ODOR. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FUEL NECK ONLY HAD ONE HOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,198 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS THE THEFT LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN TRYING TO START. THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 10 MINUTES TO START. IN DECEMBER WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPS THE ENGINE STOPPED, POWER STEERING WAS LOST AND THE THEFT LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER 10 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THEN TWO TIMES LATER THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 60 & 65 MPH, POWER STEERING WAS LOST. ONE OF THESE TIMES THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN AND POWER STEERING RECOVERED. I TOOK THE UNIT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER IN EMPORIA, KANSAS. THEY SAID THE SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE FUEL PUMP CUTS OFF BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1,100 ACCORDING TO THEM. NORMALLY THE CAR OPERATES GREAT! I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY A PRODUCT IS ALLOWED ON THE MARKET WITH A FUEL PUMP THAT WORKS PART-TIME. PRIOR TO GOING TO THE EMPORIA CHEVROLET, I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO THE BURLINGTON, KANSAS CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT HAD TO DO THAT AT THE TIME THEY WERE CHECKING IT OR THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I AM GLAD THAT MY WIFE OF 4'11" WAS NOT DRIVING IT WHEN THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE STOPPING. *TR

THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP A FEW TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER FOUND OUT WHY IT WAS ON. RECENTLY, I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS KNOCKING SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL, MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A FUEL READER WHICH CAME WITH THE FUEL PUMP. THE FUEL PUMP WAS GOOD. AS LONG AS I KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE IN THE CAR I'M GOOD. A MONTH LATER THE CAR STARTS BUT DOESN'T STAY ON. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE SHOP. IT TOOK THEM 24 HOURS TO TELL ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. $997.00. THIS IS AFTER THE COMPUTERS HAD BEEN GOING DOWN ALL DAY. THINKING ABOUT GETTING A NEW CAR. ONLINE LOOKING AT A HYUNDAI. CHECKED TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY RECALLS. DECIDED TO CHECK MY MALIBU AND SEE IF IT EVER HAD A RECALL. YES, JUST RECENTLY ON THE FUEL PUMP. I WONDER IF MY FUEL PUMP WAS PART OF THE RECALL. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. *TR

UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, HE NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE OF GASOLINE NEAR THE FUEL TANK. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE DELIVERY PUMP AND ASSOCIATED HOSES AT THE COST OF $513. THE TECHNICIAN ADDED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 101,143.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A DETECTION OF GASOLINE ODOR COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. DURING THE INSPECTION, THE GAS TANK WAS REMOVED AND THE GAS LINE ON THE TOP SIDE OF THE TANK WAS OBSERVED TO BE RUPTURED WHICH CAUSED GASOLINE TO SPEW UNDER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED.
ON 9-3-05 I FILLED MY FUEL TANK AND DROVE THE CAR THE REST OF THE WEEKEND. ON 9-5-05 AROUND 12 NOON THE ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE..THE FIRE DEPT CONTACTED AND THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT..THE REPORT IM GETTING FROM G.M AND THE DEALER IS THAT I PUT TO MUCH FUEL IN THE CAR AND THAT CAUSED THE FIRE..I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUMES CAUSE THE FIRE ON TOP OF THE ENGINE...I DO NOT FELL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR I DO NOT BY THE FACT THAT OVER FUELING THE CAR WAS THE CAUSE I HAVE FUEL THE CAR MANY TIME IN THE PAST WITH NO PROBLEMS..AND EVER TIME I MADE CONTACTED WITH A G.M REP.
