THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING FUEL A FARE AMOUNT. IT BEGAN THIS SUMMER HERE IN MESA AZ. WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN JUNE OF 2017 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH FUEL LEAKING UNTIL THIS SUMMER. NOW IT HAS BECOME A HAZARD AND FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, IT IS COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE PROBLEM BEGAN IN LATE JULY AND I HAVE LEFT IT PARKED SINCE. IT HAS BECOME AN SERIOUS LEAK. BECAUSE THE FUEL EVAPORATES QUICKLY, I HAVE NOT TAKEN ANY PICTURES. IT DID MAKE A SIX INCH PUDDLE UNDER THE TANK HERE IN THE DRIVE WAY THE LAST TIME I MOVED THE CAR A FEW FEET FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER OF THE DRIVE. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE.
OUR CAR IGNITION FROM DAY ONE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE .THERE ARE TIMES YOU TRY TO START IT WONT .WE TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER THEY TOLD ME I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO START MY CAR,ONE TIME THE IGNITION SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ,ONSTAR CAME ON AND HAD ME GO OUTSIDE CAR AND REDO FUEL CAP,THEN TURN KEY ON WITH OUT STARTING ,FINALLY SHE HAD ME RESTART CAR. WE STILL HAVE IGNITION ISSUES ,I EVEN CONTACTED GM THOUGH EMAIL GOT NO RESPONSE. THEY SEEM NOT TO CARE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH AND NOTICED A GAS LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE FUEL EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCATE A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON THE 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX MODEL YEAR UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V459000 (FUEL SYSTEM) BUT NOT FOR THE 2006 MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON AUG. 26TH,2012 MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX BROKE DOWN I TOWED IT TO THE MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT MY FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I PAID $750 DOLL FOR PARTS AND LABOR ,2 WKS BEFORE THAT HAPPENED MY CAR WAS GIVING OFF A FUEL SMELL AND WOULDN'T START UNLESS I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THAT WORKED UNTIL IT FINALLY BROKE DOWN .GM IS RECALLING EQUINOX 2007-09 FOR FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEMS CAUSING TO LEAK GAS CAUSING A FUEL SMELL AND IN DANGER OF THE CAR CATCHING FIRE BECAUSE OF GAS LEAKAGE AND ALSO DAMAGING THE FUEL PUMP MY CAR IS A 2006 BUT HAS THAT SAME PROBLEM EVEN AFTER A NEW FUEL PUMP ITS STILL GIVING ME THE SAME PROBLEMS I THINK ITS MY FUEL INJECTOR AND GM NEEDS TO ALSO RECALL MODEL YR 2006 I'M AFRAID I WILL NEED A NEW EXP FUEL PUMP AGAIN SOON OR WORSE MY CAR COULD CATCH ON FIRE THEREFORE I'M PRAYING GM DOES THE RIGHT THING AND INCLUDE THE CHEVY EQUINOX 2006 IN ITS RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM . I HAVE A 2006 EQUINOX THAT I BOUGHT USED WITH 91,000 MILES ON IT. ONLY ONE PREVIOUS OWNER WITH CLEAN CAR FAX. I LOVE THE CAR, BUT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK IT ACTS LIKE IT DOESN'T WANT TO CRANK. I SOMETIMES HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO EVEN GET IT TO CRANK. I'M ASSUMING THIS A FUEL PRESSURE PROBLEM OF SOME SORT. ALSO, ONCE CRANKED THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES IDLE ITSELF DOWN FROM 1 RPM TO 0 RPM THEN BACK TO 1 RPM. THERE IS ALSO A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM BACK END OF CAR WHERE THE FUEL PUMP IS. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH HAVING THE HEADLIGHTS REPLACED BECAUSE WATER GETS INTO THE HEADLIGHTS. MOST OF THE EQUINOX'S THAT I SEE ON THE ROAD HAVE WATER IN THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WILL BURST WHEN WET AND YOU HAVE NO HEADLIGHT UNTIL YOU HAVE IT FIXED. (WHICH YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHTS/TAIL LIGHTS YOURSELF BECAUSE PART STORES REFUSE TO DO THE LABOR FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT TO EVEN REPLACE A BULB. THIS SEEMS TO ME THAT CHEVROLET DID THAT SO IF YOU ARE A WOMAN, LIKE MYSELF, YOU ARE FORCED TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE AND HAVE IT REPLACED.) THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WEARING TOO FAST. I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RESISTOR ON THE BLOWER MOTOR TWICE IN 2 YEARS. THESE MAY NOT BE BIG PROBLEMS TO GM, BUT I RELY ON MY CAR TO TAKE ME TO WORK AND SCHOOL AND THE FACT THAT THEY GENUINELY DON'T CARE HAS FORCED ME TO NOT WANT TO BUY ANOTHER CHEVROLET AGAIN. SEEING AS THEY HAD TO HAVE A GOVERNMENT BAIL OUT PREVIOUSLY TO EVEN STAY IN BUSINESS, YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD VALUE THEIR CUSTOMERS! *JB
ON FEBRUARY 12, 2011, I BEGAN NOTICING THE START UP PROBLEMS WITH THE 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX. IT INTERMITTENTLY HAS EXCESSIVE CRANKING TIME TO START AND AS OF LATELY (JAN. 19, 2012) IT ONLY HAS GOTTEN WORSE. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP TO GET IT SERVICED THE SAME DAY AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR. I PAID FOR THAT BUT THE PROBLEM DID NOT GO AWAY. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD THE RADIO REPLACED AND THE GAS HAS HAD MANY FUEL DELIVERY ISSUES. I BELIEVE IT IS THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE WHICH WAS RECALLED IN THE 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX. IT NEEDS TO ALSO BE RECALLED FOR THE 2006 SO THAT I CAN STOP WASTING MY TIME AND MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT WASN?T BUILT RIGHT. THANK YOU. *TT
DT: THE CONTACT STATED APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE SHE SMELLED GASOLINE. WHEN SHE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ADVISED HER NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE FUMES COULD IGNITE. THEY GAVE HER THE NUMBER FOR CHEVROLET TO ARRANGE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED, BUT SHE COULD NOT CONTACT ANYONE. SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED THE FUEL LINE AND FUEL CANISTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PARTS HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED AND WERE ON ORDER. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN, BUT THERE WERE NO REPAIRS DONE. *AK
