TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT MIST FROM THE HEATER BLEW INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND CREATED AN ABNORMAL ODOR. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MIST PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM SEEING OUT OF THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW WATER PUMP WAS NEEDED. THE MECHANIC FLUSHED OUT THE SYSTEM AND PLACED A NEW HEAT SYSTEM IN THE ENGINE WITH NEW ANTI-FREEZE. THE FAILURE RECURRED LATER THE SAME WEEK. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

VEHICLE STARTED OVERHEATING WITH A JUMPED IDLE, I REPLACED THE LOWER INTAKE, VALVE SEATS, O RINGS, 3 THERMOSTATS. IT HAS BEEN BLEED FOR TWO DAYS NOW, AT FIRST IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING SO I BLED THE COOLING SYSTEM AND TRIED IT AGAIN. IT DROVE FANTASTIC DIDNT OVERHEAT AT ALL. I PULLED INTO MY PARKING SPOT WHICH THE CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR NO PROBLEM. I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED NOW ITS OVERHEATING PARKED AND ITS JUST INCONSISTENT AND LEAVING MY STRANDED
WHEN MY EQUINOX HIT 60,400 MILES IT WAS RUNNING FINE AND AFTER PARKING IT FOR 20 MINUTES IT SUDDENLY RAN HOT WHICH CAUSED THE HEADS TO WARP. CHEVROLET PAID $3000 TOWARDS THE REPAIR AND I PAID $1000. THEY CALLED IT A "GRACE WARRANTY" AND GAVE ME A 12 MONTH, 12,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE REPAIR. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED BUT NEVER THE SAME AFTERWARDS. CONSTANT OVERHEATING AND COOLANT LOSS ISSUES. I HAVE FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. CHANGED THERMOSTATS TWICE,AND CHANGED THE CORROSIVE DEXCOOL ANTIFREEZE TO THE YELLOW NON CORROSIVE UNIVERSAL ANTIFREEZE. IT RAN GREAT FOR 1 MONTH THEN STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN. THE COOLANT IS FULL, THERMOSTAT IS NEW. IT IS FINE WHILE DRIVING, HEAT BEGINS TO CLIMB WHEN STOPPED.
FAULTY GASKETS (HEAD GASKET AND INTAKE GASKET) LETS AIR INTO COOLING SYSTEM. THE ENGINE COOLANT WAS DISPLACED TO THE OVERFLOW TANK. I WAS AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPUTTER AS IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT, WAS ABLE TO GET THRU THE INTERSECTION TO A SERVICE STATION. GASKET REPAIRS ESTIMATED COST $2400.
2006 CHEVY EQUINOX: HEAT CENSOR WENT OFF ALL OF A SUDDEN, AFTER GOING LESS THAN A BLOCK FROM MY HOUSE, SAYING THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING. WE STOPPED THE CAR AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS SUPER HOT AND SO WAS EVERYTHING INSIDE, INCLUDING THE ROD YOU PROP THE HOOD OPEN WITH. WE LET IT COOL DOWN AND CHECKED THE FLUIDS, WHICH LOOKED FINE. OIL WAS FINE, COOLANT FINE, ETC. WE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE CENSOR WAS OFF. WE DROVE TO THE MECHANIC WITH NO AIR CONDITIONING RUNNING AND IT NEVER GOT OVER HEATED. A FRIEND SAID TO CHECK THE FANS TO SEE IF THEY WERE WORKING. THEY WERE NOT. THEN, WHEN WE GOT IT TO THE MECHANIC THEY DID A CHEMICAL TEST AND FOUND A HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND IT WAS THE QUICKEST CHEMICAL CHANGE THEY HAVE EVER SEEN. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY WARNING UNTIL THE INCIDENT. THIS IS ONLY THE TIP OF THE ICEBURG. WE HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 2.5YEARS BUT WE HAVE HAD THE DRIVER WINDOW MOTOR REPLACED, ALL THE DOOR AND WINDOW SEALS ARE BAD, BOTH HEAD LIGHTS HAVE CONDENSATION( POOR DESIGN, OH AND THE DEALER SAID $1000 TO REPLACE) WHICH KEEPS BLOWING THE DRIVERS HEAD LIGHT, THE IGNITION STICKS, THE VISOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FELL OFF IN THE FIRST MONTH, THE CRANK SEAL WAS REPLACED, THE ERG VALVE WAS REPLACED, AND THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED AFTER THE DEALER SUPOOSEDLY FIXED THE CHIP. WE DID RECIEVE A LETTER FROM THE DEALER OFFERING TO BUY BACK OUR VEHICLE AFTER 4 MONTHS OF OWNING IT. WE THOUGHT THEY JUST WANTED US TO COME BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND GO UPSIDEDOWN ON OUR LOAN, SINCE THEY NEVER GIVE YOU WHAT YOU PAID FOR IT. GUESS WE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE OFFER. NOW WE WONDER, "WHAT IS NEXT!" WE OWE OVER 6K STILL AND ARE FORKING OUT OVER 600 IN CAR RENTAL FEES.

I HAVE OWNED A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX SINCE 2008. WE RECENTLY NOTICED A SWOOSHING FLUID NOISE COMING FROM THE DASH. WHEN THE CAR IDLES THE TEMP LIGHT GAUGE COMES ON AND THE NEEDLE GOES TO HOT. TOOK IT TO BILL JACOBS CHEVROLET IN JOLIET ILLINOIS TODAY AND THE ADVISED IT HAS A LEAKY HEAD GASKET WITH A MINIMUM COST TO REPAIR OF $1500. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM DIRECTED TO GM AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING. MANY MECHANICS HAVE SAID IT IS A DESIGN FLAW AND GM SHOULD BE DOING A RECALL. *TR
EVER SINCE I GOT THIS VEHICLE I HAVE ALWAYS HEARD WHAT SOUNDS LIKE WATER IN THE DASH, I'VE BEEN READING THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND IT CONTRIBUTES TO THE ANTIFREEZE WHICH IN SOME CASES LEAKED OUT OF THE AIR VENTS INTO THE VEHICLE. I'VE ALSO HAD MY HEATER BLEND DOOR GO BAD AND GOT THAT REPLACED. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME BECAUSE OF THE GAS CAP. LEAKING ANTIFREEZE SOME WHERE AND FROM WHAT I READ IT GOES INTO THE ENGINE HEADS AND CAUSES DAMAGE THERE. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVE AND I DRIVE ABOUT 50 MILES A DAY 6 OR 7 DAYS A WEEK. ALL I DO IS PUT MONEY INTO IT ON PARTS SINCE I GOT IT. *TR

WE JUST PURCHASED OUR 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX ON 11-15-2014 AN AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP WE WERE CAUGHT IN A SNOW STORM AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN ON THE HEAT TO WARM UP INSIDE. THE HEAT WASN'T HOT AND THE DEFROST WOULD NOT WORK EITHER AND SO NEED LESS TO SAY WE HAD TO USE A/C AN CRACK THE WINDOWS AN CONSTANTLY WIPE WINDSHIELD TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY DRIVE HOME. THAT BEING SAID I BEGAN TO DO RESEARCH ON THE PROBLEM AN AS SEARCHING I AM FINDING OUT THAT THERE ARE NEUROMAS COMPLAINTS OF THE CHEVY EQUINOX HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE DESCRIBED. READING THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE FOUND OUT THE REPAIRS ARE COSTLY AND GM HAS NOT MADE ANY ATTEMPTS TO RECALL THE FAULTY PARTS. AN SO I FELT THAT I HAD A DUTY TO STEP UP AN JOIN THE PATRONS WHO ARE ALSO OR HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEMS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BECAUSE OF FAULTY PARTS. *TR

WITH THE UPPER AND LOWER INTERNAL NOISES,RECOMMEND ENGINE REPLACEMENT TO AVOID FURTHER REPAIRS DUE TO BEING RUN ON LOW OIL PRESSURE. ". I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. *TR
OUR 2006 EQUINOX HAS HAD OUR ENGINE SHUT DOWN ON US SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN APRIL 3RD THRU SEPT. 4TH OF 2014. IT HAS SHUT DOWN TWICE WHILE AT A STOP AND ABOUT 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. AFTER 1-2 MINUTES, THE CAR WILL START BACK UP. IT SEEMS IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IF THE CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING 50-60 MILES PER HOUR AND THERE IS NO WHERE TO PULL OVER AND A CAR BEHIND YOU MAY NOT NOTICE THAT YOUR CAR HAS SHUT DOWN AND MAY NOT STOP QUICK ENOUGH. AT TIMES, THE BRAKES ARE HARD TO STOP THE CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS HARD TO TURN WHEN THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN. *TR

I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. ENDED UP HAVING TO GET A NEW ENGINE ( WELL WARRANTY COMPANY PUT IN USED ENGINE THAT HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT). HAD TO RENT A CAR TO GET HOME AND TO GET BACK TO PICK UP THE CAR WEEKS LATER. *TR

DEALERSHIP THEY MIGHT COULD HAVE HELPED ME GET DISCOUNT BUT COULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE I TOOK IT TOOK LOCAL MECHANIC. THIS CAR IS A BIG DANGER ME AND MY GRANDKIDS COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED WE BARELY MADE IT OFF THE INTERSTATE. GMC NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO THEN ADVISED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WAS IDLING IN CAR AT MILITARY CHECK POINT TO GET TO SCHOOL IN 2012 AND FANS UNDER HOOD GOT LOUD TO COOL IT DOWN. WENT DEAD SEVERAL TIMES. LET SIT 45 MINUTES. CHECKED RADIATOR AND WAS FULL OF WATER. BARELY MADE IT HOME, GOING DEAD ALL THE WAY. TOOK TO DEALER AND SAID COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM AT ALL CHARGED ME OVER $100 TO CHECK IT. FOR MONTHS IT WOULD DO THIS OFF AND ON. THEN THE FAN UNDER THE HOOD STARTED COMING ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. THEN THE CAR WOULD RUN WHEN I TURNED THE KEY OFF. NOW IN JANUARY 2014, THE HEATER IS BLOWING COLD AIR AND I HAVE NO DEFROST AND THE ENGINE TEMP. GAUGE IS ALL OF THE WAY TO HOT. I CAN ONLY RUN IT FOR 15 MINUTES THEN IT GOES DEAD AND I HAVE TO WAIT 45 MINUTES FOR IT TO COOL DOWN TO GO ANOTHER 45 MINUTES. REALLY BAD FOR ME BECAUSE IT TAKE ME 30 MINUTES TO GET TO WORK SO I HAVE TO ADD ANOTHER 45 MINUTES.....THAT'S THERE AND THEN 45 EXTRA HOME. *TR

I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MPH DOWN A MAIN ROAD, WHEN I TRIED TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. UPON PRESSING THE BRAKE, THE WHOLE BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED UP, AND THERE WAS RESISTANCE. SPOUSE DRIVING THE VEHICLE INDICATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ON THE VEHICLE HAD RISEN QUICKLY WHILE SITTING IDLE AT A STOP LIGHT. THE GAUGE ONLY DECREASED SLIGHTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. SUSPECTED A THERMOSTAT. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY INDICATED THE SAME. REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. TESTS INDICATED A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THE VEHICLE HAD NO SYMPTOMS OF THIS ISSUE. NO LOSS OF COOLANT. NO COOLANT IN THE OIL. NO OIL IN THE COOLANT. NO WHITE SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST. THE ONLY INDICATOR WAS THE QUICKLY RISING TEMPERATURE. AT THAT POINT, NO PREEMPTIVE MEASURES COULD BE TAKEN TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.

NO RECALLS, EVEN THOUGH COMMON PROBLEM. 2010 EQUINOX REPORTED SAME PROBLEM AND HAS RECALL. APPROX $ 1000 REPAIR AND DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE. GM SHOULD RECALL 2006 EQUINOX ALSO. *TR

OUT OF POCKET $100, THE BY END OF 09 THE REAL FUN BEGAN, HAD ENGINE MOUNTS REPLACED, KNOCKING IN CAR WHEN CAR STARTED FOR FIRST 5 MINUTES. THE BY OCTOBER CAR WAS OVER HEATING, HEAT ONLY BLEW WHEN CAR WAS MOVING, CAR NOW HAD 118137 REPLACED THE ENDER BLOWER MOTORS, COOLANT FANS AND FAN MOTOR, CALLED AND REPORTED TO CHEVY, THEN IN NOVEMBER 010, IT ALL HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME HAD TO HAVE BLEND ARM DOOR REPLACED CAR CALLED CHEVY NOPE NOT A ISSUE PER INTERNET ITS MAJOR ISSUE. REPLACED AT MY COST $891. RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, 2010, GASKETS AND SEALS BLEW CAR OVER HEATED THEN SHUT OFF, HAD TO LET IT COOL DOWN THEN START UP AGAIN. HAD TO REPLACE ENGINE, GASKETS AND SEALS. NOW 7/12 CHEVY WANTS TO REIMBURSE FOR THE PART BUT DECIDED TO FIGHT ME TOOTH AND NAIL ON THE REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE I NO LONGER OWN THE CAR. TRADED IT IN APRIL 2012 COULD NOT LONGER AFFORD IT AND TRANS FELT LIKE ITS GOING TO GO. CHEVY SAID I WILL GET A PARTIAL REFUND OF BLEND ARM DOOR ONLY? WTF THE CAR PUT ME AND MY CHILDREN IN DANGER AND THAT'S ALL THEY WANT TO DO BUT YET FIGHT ME? BOUGHT USED IN FEB 2012 FROM LOCAL DEALER THE HEATER WORKED FINE UNTIL EARLY APRIL. WE HAD WEIRD WEATHER HERE IN UPSTATE NY VERY WARM SO DID NOT NEED TO USE HEATER THAT MUCH. TOOK DAUGHTER TO WORK AT 4 AM AND TURNED ON HEAT AND COLD AIR IS COMING THRU VENTS, THE TEMP GAUGE IS FINE I AM THINKING MAYBE THE THERMOSTAT IS STUCK OPEN IT MIGHT BE ORIGINAL THERMOSTAT OR FROM WHAT I SEE ON THIS SITE THE MECHANICAL DOOR IS STUCK OR BROKEN. AFTER A MONTH OF PURCHASING MY EQUINOX THE HEAT QUIT WORKING. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MAKE VEHICLE. I TOOK MY EQUINOX TO MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WAS WITH THE AIR TEMPERATURE DOOR BLEND BREAKING DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF THE ACTUATOR THAT OPENS AND CLOSES THE DOOR. THE ACTUATOR WILL PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON THE DOOR CAUSING IT TO BREAK OVER TIME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER STATES BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE HEAT TO DEFROST YOUR WINDOW PROPERLY. IF THIS DOOR BREAKS ON A ROAD TRIP YOU ARE LIKELY UNABLE TO SEE UNTIL YOU GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. I BELIEVE THAT GM IS UNWILLING TO RECALL THIS PART DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS SO LABOR INTENSIVE TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING AT APROX 45MPH THE ENGINE JUST STALLED. NO WARNING NO SPUTTERING JUST DEAD. BOTH ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ONE WITH THE X THRU THE ENGINE. MY CAR CONTINUES TO OVERHEAT. I HAD THE RADIATOR FLUSHED AND NEW FLUIDS PUT IN A NEW THERMOSTAT PUT IN BUT IT CONTINUED TO OVER HEAT. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOK AT (VAN DORN AUTO), I WAS TOLD THAT THE COOLING FANS ARE NOT WORKING. THE MECHANICAL SHOP (VAN DORN AUTO) CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BY THE CHEVY DEALER THAT THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FANS BECAUSE OF THE SIZING AND THAT THEY WILL HAVE TO ORDER A DIFFERENT SIZE TO SEND TO VAN DORN AUTO TO BE REPLACED IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN I CALLED FOR A RECALL THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL. HOW CAN THAT BE IF THE ORIGINAL PARTS HAVE TO BE RESIZED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. 2ND ISSUE THE WINDOWS OPERATED LIKE THEY ARE OFF TRACK WHEN IT RAINS. THIS HAS BEEN SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2006. 1) FAIRLY NEW CHEVY EQUINOX (2006) WITH $65,000 MILES OVERHEATED IN TRAFFIC WITHOUT WARNING - WITHIN A DAY, DIFFICULTY STARTING VEHICLE AND WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE WHEN STARTING THE CAR IN THE MORNING - CAR SHOWED NO SYMPTOMS UNTIL PROBLEM OCCURRED 2) CAR OVERHEATS AND STALLS OUT AS A RESULT - PER THE MECHANIC, IT HAS BLOWN HEAD GASKETS 3) HEAD GASKETS REPLACED AT $2,800 - THE CAR ISN'T EVEN FOUR YEARS OLD AFTER RESEARCHING MORE ABOUT THE PROBLEM TO SEE IF MY COST OF REPAIR WAS WITHIN THE AVERAGE FOR SUCH REPAIRS, I SAW THAT MANY OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY EQUINOX, AND THAT IT IS LIKELY A FAULTY DESIGN ISSUE. *TR

I HAVE NO HEAT IN MY CAR. THE HEATER IS BLOWING COLD AIR. I HAVE A FOUR YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND WILL HAVE TO GET IT FIXED IMMEDIATELY DESPITE GM SUGGESTING THAT I HAVE IT DIAGNOSED THEN CALL THEM BACK. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WITH THE BLEND DOOR, BASED ON INFORMATION FOUND ON THE INTERNET. THERE APPEARS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL BASED ON INFORMATION CONTAINED ON THE INTERNET. THE SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR. WHERE I GO TO START MY CAR, MY KEY TURNS OVER BUT THE ENGINE NEVER KICKS ON. ITS MAKES AN ODD NOISE, NOT GRINDING BUT A NOISE. IT TAKES ABOUT 6-7 TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL KICK ON. ONCE IT FINALLY STARTS THERE IS BLACK SMOKE AND FLUID COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE RPM'S REV UP TO 8K THAN DOWN TO 4K, THE CAR IDLES AND SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO DIE. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES SINCE APRIL 15, 2008. SO FAR NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AND THEY STATE THE CAR IS UP TO GM STANDARDS. I HAVE WASTED MUCH TIME AND MONEY INTO THIS ISSUE AND SOON THE CAR WILL BE OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE A FEELING THAT ONCE THE WARRANTY IS UP THAT THEY WILL CHARGE ME AN ARM AND LEG TO GET IT FIXED. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WILL A LITTLE BIT UNDER 34K MILES. *TR
TOOK 150 MILE TRIP FROM DELAWARE TO NJ. CAR DIED IN DRIVE WAY OF DESTINATION. TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER. ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WARRANTY NOT COVERING REPAIRS. EXHAUST FUMES COME INSIDE THE VEHICLE VENTS, AFTER RESTARTING A WARM ENGINE. THE EXHAUST SMELL GIVES ME A HEADACHE. I HAVE SPOKE TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. CHEVROLET REPAIR DEPTS. HAVE HEARD THE COMPLAINT, BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *JB
VEHICLE MAKE LOUD ROARING NOISE DURING HARD RAIN, AND LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT WAS HYDROPLANING, HOWEVER, THEY ROADS WERE PUDDLED ENOUGH TO CAUSE SUCH AN EFFECT ESPECIALLY AT 5,000 MILES, BRAND NEW TIRES. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GRINDING, AND AFTER PUNCHING THE GAS, HAD NO RESPONSE. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR, IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. SIX OCCURRENCES, THREE TIMES TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE. 2) LEFT REAR SEAT BELT LOCKED UP, RATCHET TIGHTER AND WOULD NOT RELEASE UNTIL REMOVED AND FULLY RETRACTED. FOUR OCCURRENCES, THREE TIMES TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE. 3) ENGINE FALTERS WHEN IN REVERSE. THREE OCCURRENCES, DEALER HAS NOT LOOKED AT THIS ISSUE. 4) INSTRUMENT CLUSTER / GAUGES NOT WORKING. THREE OCCURRENCES, TWO TIMES TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE. 5) ENGINE WILL NOT START. SIX OCCURRENCES, ONE TIME TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE. 6) ENGINE WILL HESITATE TO START / EXTENDED CRANK. FIVE OCCURRENCES, ONE TIME TO DEALER WHO REPROGRAMMED PCM BUT ISSUE STILL EXISTS. 7) IGNITION SWITCH GRINDING OR WILL NOT TURN. DAILY OCCURRENCES, ONE TIME TO DEALER, ISSUE STILL EXISTS. 8) NO ONSTAR DATA COMMUNICATION. ONE OCCURRENCE, ONE TIME TO DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE. 9) ONSTAR UNABLE TO DETECT SERVICE LIGHT IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. ISSUE NOT BROUGHT TO DEALER AT THIS TIME. 10) ENGINE COOLANT EXTREMELY LOW WITHIN 5000 ORIGINAL MILES. ISSUE NOT BROUGHT TO DEALER AT THIS TIME. 11) ENGINE COOLANT BROWN AND FOAMING. I HAVE A 2005 EQUINOX 4WD. ON JAN. 13, 2006 WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE SUV COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN, ENGINE, LIGHTS, EVERYTHING!. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN ONE DAY. I WAS ABLE TO CRANK IT AND IT GET IT BACK TO MY HOME. THEN ON JAN. 16TH, 2006, FOR THE 3RD TIME, IT WAS 5:30 AM COMPLETELY DARK WHILE I WAS DRIVING @65 MPH, THE SUV COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AGAIN! I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS PITCH DARK. I MANAGED TO FIND A FLASH LIGHT WITH THE HELP OF MY 14 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I WAS 6 INCHES FROM A MAILBOX! AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE SUV CRANKED. I DROVE IT A FEW MILES MORE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER KEPT IT FROM JAN. 16TH, 06 TO JAN. 31ST, 2006. THEY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO ME ON FEB. 1ST., 2006. SUPPOSEDLY IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE IGNITION SYSTEM. IT DROVE FINE UNTIL MARCH 9TH, 2006. THE SAME THING HAPPEN. WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE ENGINE TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN, WITHOUT WARNING. I MANAGED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT CRANKED AFTER A FEW MINUTES AND I DROVE IT ABOUT A MILE AND PARKED IT AT OUR SHOP. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THE NEXT DAY ON MARCH 10TH, 2006 ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY SENT A WRECKER TO PICK IT UP. *JB
