I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX AND THE FLOORBOARD IS STAYING WET, LIKE STANDING WATER. I'VE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THEM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT MAKES IT FEET WET AND SLIP OFF THE BREAK AND GAS PEDDLES. WHY HASNT GM FIXED THIS? NOT TO COUNT THE ELECTRICAL PART INVOLVED! CAN WE SAY FIRE HAZARD?? THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,045.

THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GRAY-DANIELS CHEVROLET (601-863-8466, LOCATED AT 6080 I-55, JACKSON, MS 39211), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE SAME DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
ONE WIPER BLADE QUIT FUNCTIONING AND CAUSES SEVERE DANGER TO THE DRIVER. HEATER QUIT WORKING CAUSING FOGGING ISSUES AND KEEPING MY KIDS & WIFE IN DANGER. APPARENTLY THESE ISSUES ARE VERY COMMON ACCORDING TO THE 2009 REPORT GM RECALLED 59,000 VEHICLES FOR THIS ISSUE BUT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING OR WHILE IN ANY OTHER POSITION. THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER MODELS FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE, BUT NO RECALL WAS MADE FOR MY VEHICLE.
IN APRIL OF 2015 I PURCHASED A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX FROM SID DILLION CHEVY DEALERSHIP. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE IT RAINED AND WATER HAD LEAKED INTO DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD. WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE IT STARTED BUT THERE WAS NO ACLERATION AND THE CAR WOULDN'T DRIVE WHEN PUT IN GEAR. I INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING THE VECHICAL BACK OUT THE DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. IN FINDING THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS SUNROOF DRAIN THAT BACKUP AND LEAKED WATER INTO MY DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARD, ALSO LEAKING WATER ON TO THE THROTTLE SENSOR WHICH IS LOCATED ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEY INFORMED ME THAT DRAIN HAD BEEN BLOWN OUT AND THE ERROR CODE WAS RESET AND THE VECHICAL RAN AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW MONTHS LATER AND I WAS AGAIN INSTRUCTED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THIS THE SAME PROCEDURE WAS DONE AS BEFORE AND I ASKED WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND WAS INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE SUNROOFS DRAIN, WHEN IT RAINS I WILL HAVE WATER THAT LEAKS INTO VECHICAL IF THERE IS LARGE AMOUNTS OF RAIN AND THAT BECAUSE THERE ARE NO BROKEN PARTS THE PROBLEM CAN NOT BE FIXED. I INFORMED CHEVROLET MAIN CENTER OF THE ISSUE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY RECALLS ON THE VECHICAL AND TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. I'VE TAKEN PREVENTIVE MEASURES BUT KEEPING THE DRIAN CLEARED AND WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENS RESETTING THE ERROR CODES, BUT LAST WEEK 06-07-18 I HAD THE LINE CLEARED AND THE FOLLOWING DAY IT RAINED AND THE THROTTLE SENSOR ERRORED RESET THE CODE AND VECHICAL RAN. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING I GOT CAUGHT IN HEAVY RAINFALL THE VECHICAL COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A 4 LANE BUSY ROAD AND WOULD NOT MOVE, WATER BEGAN LEAKING INTO THE DRIVER SIDE AND ALSO FROM THE PEDAL AND INTIOR LIGHTS. I'M VERY FEARFUL OF DRIVING THE VECHICAL. THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE.
WITHIN THE LAST MONTH WHILE I AM DRIVING MY TRUCK WOULD JUST CUT OFF WITH OUT ANY WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD A TUNE UP, THE LEFT WHEEL BARRING CHANGED, FRONT STRUTS DONE AND I HAVE JUST BROUGHT A PCM. MY ABS AND TC LIGHTS STAYS ON AND MY MECHANIC CAN NOT EXPLAIN WHY IT KEEPS CUTTING OFF. I HAVE CHECKED FOR RECALLS FOR THIS YEAR AND THERE ARE NONE LISTED; HOWEVER, I HAVE SEEN SOME ON THE NHTSA SERVICE BULLETIN. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ASSIST ME THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!!
A FEW WEEKS AGO WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLES ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON, RIGHT AFTER THAT THE BRAKES HAVE STARTED MAKING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE OR LOCK UP ALTOGETHER TO WHERE I CAN'T STOP. I HAVE DONE PLENTY OF RESEARCH OVER THIS AND IT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING THING WITH THESE VEHICLES. IF EVERYONE OF THEM IS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND THE BRAKES ARE THAT DANGEROUS, HOW HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I DRIVE, WHETHER GOING DOWN AN INTERSTATE AND HAVING TO HOT MY BRAKES TO JUST DRIVING IN A SMALL TOWN, THEN WHEN I TRY AND GO AGAIN THEY MAKE THE GRINDING NOISE WHILE DRIVING FOR A MINUTE.
BOUGHT MY 06 EQINOX IN MAY OF 2015. DAY 2, BATTERY DIED. DEALER PUT NEW BATTERY IN. NEXT WEEK, BATTERY DEAD AND TOOK OUT STEREO WITH IT. DEALER REPLACED BATTERY AND STEREO. NOW HAVING TROUBLE STARTING AGAIN. HAVE REPLACED BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TWICE ON REAR WHEELS AND FRONT ONCE. CAR MAKES GRINDING NOISE STILL WHEN BACKING WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. ABS AND TC LIGHTS CAME ON MAY OF 2017. HAD CHECKED OUT AND NEEDED FRONT RIGHT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR REPLACED. REPLACED IT AND LIGHT STAYED ON. HAD IT RECHECKED AND IT STILL READS THE SAME. NO BRAKES. PEDAL STUTTERS ON THE WAY DOWN AND THEN HAS TO BE FORCED DOWN THE REST OF THE WAY TO STOP THE CAR. HAD MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND WAS TOLD TO REPLACE ABS MODULE. WE DID AND I FINALLY HAVE BRAKES AGAIN BUT NOW MY BREAK LIGHT IS ON ALONG WITH THE ABS/TC LIGHTS. CAR HAS SUNROOF. HAD CAR 2 YEARS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY BACK FLOOR IS FLOODED. THOUGHT THE KIDS SPILLED WATER. NOPE. SOAKED A BEACH TOWEL CLEANING IT UP. NEXT HARD RAIN, FLOODED AGAIN. LINES ARE CLOGGED AND BACKING UP INTO MY CAR. TWO BEACH TOWELS AND TWO GALLONS LATER OF WATER VACUUMED UP AND MY PADDING IS DAMP AND STILL STINKS LIKE MILDEW. THIS CAR IS BADLY DESIGNED. THE BRAKE SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. LUCKILY THERE WAS AN EMPTY TURN LANE BESIDE ME WHEN IT RAINED OR I WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN TURNING AND WOULDNT STOP ON STRAIGHTAWAYS. THE ELECTRICAL WIRING IN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS JACKED UP TOO. CAN'T UNLOCK THE DOORS, TURN ON DOME LIGHT AND DOESN'T SHUT OFF RADIO.
MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX HEATER START BLOWING COLD AIR ON DECEMBER 1, 2016. PER THE CHEVY DEALER THE HEATER BLEND DOOR IS BROKEN IT COST ME OVER $2,300 TO FIX THE HEATER . THERE ARE TOO MANY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX WITH THE ME PROBLEM. THIS IS S DEFECT AND A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. GM NEED TO PAY FOR THIS PART AND LABOR DEFECT.

THE KEY IS HANGING UP IN THE IGNITION AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF. IT IS OFTEN DIFFICULT TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE IGNITION TO THEN START IT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE NOW STALLS WHILE RUNNING WITHOUT NOTICE. WHEN IT DOES, ALL POWER CUTS OFF (POWER BRAKES, TRACTION CONTROL, LIGHTS RADIO, BREAKS - ANYTHING ELECTRIC SHUTS OFF. HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND RESTART IT ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. HAPPENS ON THE STREET AS WELL AS FREEWAY. I WONDER WHETHER THIS IS COVERED BY A RECALL OR SOMETHING. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO BE VERY SAFE.

NOW IT IS HARD TO START AND AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR I HAVE TO OPEN ANOTHER DOOR BESIDES THE DRIVER DOOR TO DISABLE POWER TO THE DASH INSTRUMENTS, INTERIOR LIGHTING AND RADIO.

I HAVE A 2006 EQUINOX WHICH I BOUGHT IN 2010. WHILE I HAD VARIOUS "OF AGE" REPAIRS, SUCH AS FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES AND A FAN MOTOR; WITH THE AGE AND MILEAGE, THEY SEEMED NORMAL. IN 2013 I REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR SIMULTANEOUSLY; AS THE CODE WAS FOR EGR, BUT WOULD ONLY INTERMITTENTLY KICK IN THE TSS CODE (THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC 3 TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET THE CODE TO STAY SO WE COULD FIND THE PROBLEM). AMONG LOOKING ONLINE FOR THE PROBLEM, IT WAS COMMON, BUT MY DEALER WOULD NOT FIX WITHOUT THE CODE. JUNE, 2014, THE BRAKES STARTED PULSATING ON THE CAR IN LOW SPEEDS. I WOULD HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET IT TO STOP. TWICE, PUMPING THE BRAKES AT AN INTERSECTION FAILED, AND NEARLY RESULTED IN A WRECK WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. THE ABS AND TC LIGHTS WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC: HE EVALUATED EACH CONNECTION AND CLEANED THEM, WHERE THE ABS HARNESS CONNECTS TO THE MAIN HARNESS. HE FOUND NO DISCREPANCIES. AFTER 2 MORE MONTHS OF DANGEROUS DRIVING, AND A WHOLE NEW SET OF BRAKES (ALL 4), ONLINE RESEARCH PREVAILED ONCE AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM WAS COMMON; AND SUGGESTED A RATHER CHEAP FIX. THE 18 IN WIRE HARNESS FROM THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TO THE MAIN HARNESS HAD AN ISSUE. SURE ENOUGH I, A WOMAN, AFTER BEING TOLD THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T CARRY THE PART, ORDERED IT ONLINE AND REPLACED IT IN 15 MINUTES. NO PROBLEMS SINCE THEN. MAY, 2015. WHAT APPEARED TO BE A THERMOSTAT ISSUE ENDED UP BEING A COOLANT RESERVOIR PROBLEM. THE RESERVOIR WAS BROKEN, WHERE THE PLASTIC NIPPLE THAT COMES OUT THE BOTTOM ATTACHES WITH THE HOSE. AFTER I CONTACTED ALL PARTS STORES IN THE AREA, I WAS TOLD WHILE IT WAS COMMON FOR CHEVROLET TRUCKS AND EQUINOX VEHICLES, THE EQUINOX PART WAS NO MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PARTS STORES. I HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER ONLINE, THANK GOODNESS IT WORKED.

AS NOTED IN A LETTER FROM GM'S DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT INVESTIGATIONS AND SAFETY TO THE NHTSA ON DECEMBER 23, 2009, THE 2010 EQUINOX WAS RECALLED SINCE A MANUFACTURER?S DEFECT RESULTED IN NON-OPERATIONAL DEFROST SYSTEMS THAT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN, COULD RESULT IN A CRASH, AND VIOLATED FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 103. IN OTHER WORDS, GM HAS ADMITTED ON ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT MANUFACTURER?S DEFECTS THAT CAUSE IN-OPERABLE DEFROST SYSTEMS ARE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE. CHEVROLET EQUINOX DRIVERS ARE AT STAKE. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. WE REPLACED THE CALIPERS, ROTORS, BRAKES PADS, AND THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED, LESS THAN 2 MONTHS LATER IT LOCKED UP AGAIN AND TRIED TO CATCH FIRE. IN THE LAST MONTH MY 2006 EQUINOX'S ENGINE HAS FAILED 5 TIMES, 3 TIMES WHILE SITTING AT INTERSECTIONS AND TWICE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. ALL 5 TIMES THE LIGHTS HAVE GONE ON THE DASH AND THEN ALL POWER TO THE ENGINE HAS BEEN LOST. IT TAKES A GOOD MINUTE BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER AGAIN. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE SHOP FOR EXTENSIVE WORK (INCLUDING WHEEL BEARINGS AND IGNITION SWITCH) AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIX OR EVEN PINPOINT THE PROBLEM. I FIRST REPORTED TO CHEVROLET IN 2011 THAT MY IGNITION/KEY IN MY 2006 EQUINOX WOULD GET "STUCK". IT WOULDN'T TURN AND I'D SPEND SOMETIMES SEVERAL MINUTES JUST TRYING TO GET THE KEY TO TURN SO I COULD START THE CAR. I SOMETIMES HAD TO TAP THE KEY FORWARD WITH A SCREWDRIVER HANDLE. 2006 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. KEY WILL NOT ROTATE FROM OFF POSITION TO ON POSITION, THUS THE CAR CAN NOT BE STARTED. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE IGNITION CYLINDER PRESUMED, AS THE FACTORY KEY IS INCAPABLE OF EVEN BEING ROTATED TO THE ON POSITION. MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX HAS NOW HAD THREE SEPARATE INCIDENCES OF SPONTANEOUS ENGINE TURN OVER. THE FIRST WAS IN MAY OF 2012, NEXT IN APRIL 2013, FOLLOWED BY AUGUST 2013. ON EACH OCCASION; THE CAR WAS PARKED AND LOCKED AT THE TIME THAT IT SPONTANEOUSLY STARTED. WITH EACH EVENT I HAD TO PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, MOVE IT A COUPLE FEET, FOLLOWED BY SHIFTING TO DRIVE AND MOVING FORWARD. WHEN THE WEATHER STARTED TO GET COOLER I ATTEMPED TO PUT THE HEAT ON IN MY 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX AND NOTHING BUT COLD AIR CAME OUT! I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THIS IS A SAFTEY CONCER BECAUSE I ALSO HAVE NO DEFROST. THE LACK OF HEAT IS CAUSED BY THE AIR TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR FAILING TO OPERATE. THE BLEND DOOR ALLOWS AIR TO FLOW PAST THE HEATER CORE. THE AIR TEMPERATURE DOOR HAS A PLASTIC ARM WHICH IS CONNECTED TO AN ELECTRIC MOTOR. IT SEEMS THE PROBLEM IS WITH THIS PLASTIC ARM BREAKING AND MOTOR MALFUNCTION. GM DEALERS REPLACE THE PLASTIC ARM WITH A METAL ARM AT A COST TO THE CONSUMER OF BETWEEN $1100 AND $1400 DOLLARS. THIS IS A MANUFACTURES PART PROBLEM. GM SHOULD STEP UP AND MAKE THIS PROBLEM A RECALL ISSUE. SAFTEY IS INVOLVED. THE NEWER MODELS HAVE BEEN MODIFIED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TT

AT THAT POINT IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE IGNITION. I'VE ALSO HEARD CLICKING NOISES COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE RANDOMLY WHEN I TURN MY CAR RIGHT AFTER MY CAR HAS BEEN PARKED AND RUNNING FOR AWHILE. ANOTHER ISSUE IS REVVING UP FOR NO REASON. BOUGHT MY 2006 EQUINOX LT AWD AND TWO MONTHS LATER I WAS OUT OF TOWN TOOK MY CAR TO THE CAR WASH AND CAME OUT OF IT AND MY CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE. AT ANOTHER POINT IN TIME I NOTICED THAT UNDER THE DASH BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WATER WAS COMING IN WHEN THERE WAS A HEAVY RAINFALL. I TOO REPORTED THIS AN NO ANSWER. I ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH STARTING MY CAR I WOULD EITHER HAVE A HARD START OR IT WOULD STICK SO THEY REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AT MY COST. HOW I MANAGED TO COAST FROM THE FAST LANE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER WITHOUT CAUSING A WRECK, GOD ONLY KNOWS. IT HAS DONE THE SAME THING ON 3 OTHER OCCASIONS. I WAS SIMPLY RUNNING ERRANDS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON EITHER. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE, THE CAR RESTARTS AND CAN BE DRIVEN. BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 2 TIMES SO FOR REPAIRS AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. (GOING BACK FOR NUMBER 3 TODAY.) NO COMPUTER CODES APPEAR TO BE DIAGNOSED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I CAN'T BE DRIVING A CAR AND IT JUST DECIDES TO SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN. I HAVE KIDS AND CAN'T BE PUTTING THEIR LIFE IN DANGER OR EVEN THE OTHER MOTORIST. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING ON OTHER CAR SITES AND FOUND 6 OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. I THINK CHEVROLET NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
SEPTEMBER 12, 2006 VEHICLE INTO THE GARAGE BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS EVENING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL WAS COMING OUT FROM INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. AT THIS VISIT I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY WASN'T EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. JANUARY 18, 2008 VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN BECAUSE THE KEY WAS STICKING IN THE IGNITION CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IGNITION CYLINDER WAS CLEANED AND LUBED. APRIL 24, 2008 VEHICLE TAKEN INTO THE GARAGE FOR IGNITION STICKING AND THEN VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF. AGAIN, CYLINDER WAS CLEANED AND LUBED. MAY 1, 2008 VEHICLE TAKEN INTO GARAGE AGAIN SAME PROBLEM. TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, BUT THE IGNITION CYLINDER WAS REPLACED AND A NEW KEY WAS CUT. AFTER PICKING THE VEHICLE UP, THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUED. SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 VEHICLE TAKEN BACK WITH IDENTICAL PROBLEM OF THE KEY STICKING IN THE IGNITION, REVVING THE ENGINE AND THEN THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF. CYLINDER WAS CLEANED AND LUBED. OCTOBER 24, 2008 VEHICLE BACK INTO THE GARAGE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AT THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND ASKED IF THEY COULD KEEP IT OVER THE WEEKEND OR RETURN THE VEHICLE ON THE MORNING OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2008 AND LET THEM CONTINUE TO LOOK AT IT. ON OCTOBER 27, 2008 THE VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF. TECHNICIAN COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE GARAGE UNTIL OCTOBER 30, 2008 AT WHICH TIME THEY AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND I NEEDED TO COME PICK IT UP. THE ABOVE DESCRIBED PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON-GOING SINCE THE ISSUE IN SEPTEMBER 2006. IT OCCURS SPORADICALLY AND DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY CONNECTION TO THE WEATHER, THE TIME OF DAY, ETC. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY EQUINOX WHICH I PURCHASED WITH 80 MILES ON IT. AFTER ABOUT 20 MONTHS I WAS UNABLE TO TURN TO THE IN THE IGNITION. I HAD TO FORCE IT AND PLAY WITH THE STEERING WHEEL FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES FOR IT TO TURN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE CYLINDER. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER IS DID IT AGAIN. IT IS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE KEY WILL JUST NOT TURN AT ALL, AS IF IT WAS THE WRONG KEY FOR THE CAR. *TR
VEHICLE FIRE. CELL PHONE CHARGER WAS PLUGGED INTO THE FRONT AUXILIARY POWER OUTLET. 2-3 MINUTES LATER SMOKE WAS NOTICED, AND FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE WHERE THE POWER OUTLET IS LOCATED. VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PHONE CHARGER WAS UNPLUGGED, BURNING THE TIP OF ONE FINGER. VEHICLE WAS EXITED AND 911 WAS CALLED. FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. PHONE CHARGER AND PHONE ARE INTACT AND WERE NOT BURNED OR DAMAGED IN ANY WAY, I IN FACT WAS STILL USING THEM IN OUR OTHER VEHICLE UNTIL REQUESTED NOT TO, BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY, AND TO HOLD THEM FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. AFTER THE FIRE, THE FUSE FOR THE POWER OUTLET WAS CHECKED AND HAD BLOWN OUT. DON'T KNOW YET WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. IT CERTAINLY APPEARS THE WIRING SHORTED OUT? VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
EVERYTIME THAT I TAKE MY CAR IN FOR A QUICK CAR WASH OR IF IT RAINS REALLY HARD (IN FLORIDA IT DOES)... WATER LEAKS THROUGH THE LIGHTS IN THE CEILING, THE BACK HATCH, AND THROUGH THE FLOOR BOARDS. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT IT IS WATER CORROSION FROM THE WATER LEAKING THROUGH THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS. THIS CAUSES MY CAR TO RUN, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE MY PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, VERY SLOW. I CAN'T GO PAST 10MPH. I AM AFRAID OF ELECTRICAL FIRE. I CAN HARDLY TURN A CORNER... I AM AFRAID OF A CAR ACCIDENT. MY CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD NOW... 4/2008 AND THIS HAS HAPPENED A 3RD TIME. MY BATTERY HAS ALREADY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND MY RADIO REPLACED TWICE BECAUSE OF THE "CD CHANGER ERROR". NOW I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, WITH ALL OF THE WATER THAT KEEPS COMING IN, WHAT CONDITION MY CAR WILL BE IN A FEW MONTHS FROM NOW. I TOOK MY 06' CHEVY. EQUINOX LT INTO THE SHOP TWO MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I HAD DROVE MY CAR DOWN THE STREET AND WHEN I GOT READY TO COME HOME. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND IT DIDN'T MOVE ALL. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO TODEY CHEVROLET OF OXNARD, CA AND ABOUT 3 DAYS LATER THEY HAD CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE COMPUTER IN MY CAR. THAT THERE HAD BEEN WATER LEAKING ON THE SIDE PSGR. DOOR. THE LEAK WAS SO EXTREME THAT ALL THE WIRING LEADING TO THE COMPUTER WAS RUSTED. I HAD MY CAR RETURNED TO ME AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS. WATER STILL LEAKS IN MY CAR BUT, NOT AS SEVERELY. *JB
TUESDAY FEB 6TH WENT TO LICENSE BRANCH IN SOUTH BEND IN. WAS INSIDE FOR APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR AND A HALF. WALKING TO THE EQUINOX, USED THE UNLOCK BUTTON. LIGHTS FLASHED, DOORS UNLOCKED. GOT INSIDE VEHICLE AND HAD NO POWER. VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER, DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. ABSOLUTELY NO POWER. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS THAT HAD COME ON IN THE VEHICLE TO INDICATE A LOW BATTERY OR ANY OTHER WARNING CONDITION PRIOR. I CALLED LIGONIER DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD TO CALL A LOCAL DEALERSHIP. GATE CHEVROLET OF SOUTH BEND CAME AND GOT THE VEHICLE STARTED WITH A BOOSTER, BUT SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT OR WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. VEHICLE HAD 2177 MILES ON IT. I DROVE HOME, PULLED IN THE GARAGE, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, TRIED TO RESTART AND HAD NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE AT ALL. NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO TURN ON THE DOME LIGHT WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN VEHICLE LOST POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSIS THE FAILURE. *AK
ON FRIDAY JULY 14, 2006 MY WIFE CAME OUT OF WORK AT AROUND 4:00 PM ON A VERY HOT DAY AND ATTEMPTED TO START HER EQUINOX & WHEN IT STARTED, THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT ENGAGED. I LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME OF GOLF AND WENT TO HER AID. WHEN I GOT THERE AND STARTED THE CAR, THE STEERING WORKED FINE. WE LEFT IT A THE DEALER FOR THE NEXT WEEK WHERE THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY DID RECOVER AN ERROR CODE INDICATING SOMETHING FAILED IN THE IGNITION. THEY REPLACED THE IGNITION. THIS PROBLEM AGAIN OCCURRED ON FRIDAY SEPT. 18, 2006 AT APPROXIMATELY 4:00 PM ON ANOTHER VERY HOT DAY. I CALLED TO GET IT TOWED & WHEN THEY ARRIVED APPROXIMATELY 2 HRS LATER, THE PROBLEM AGAIN WAS NOT APPARENT. I HAD IT TOWED ONCE MORE TO THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM THAT I FELT IT WAS RELATED TO A VERY HOT INTERIOR. THEY HAD IT THE ENTIRE NEXT WEEK AND AGAIN FOUND NO PROBLEMS, HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS IN THE STEERING COLUMN THAT HAD TO DO WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. SUNDAY SEPT 17, 2006 AFTER HAVING THE CAR 2 DAYS, IT FROZE UP TWICE AGAIN WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. ALL PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON HOT DAYS WHERE THE CAR WAS CLOSED UP. THE DEALER CURRENTLY HAS THE CAR AGAIN AND IS TELLING ME THAT HE SEES NO PROBLEM. I AM WONDERING WHY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE & WHY MY CAR COMPANY IS APPEARING TO BE OF LITTLE OR NO HELP. *JB
