Your 2020 Tiguan's crankcase breather valve (PCV system) failed, causing severe engine damage that requires a complete engine replacement. Before the engine failed completely, you spent over $3,700 on repairs for recurring oil problems caused by the stuck valve, which created excessive pressure buildup in the engine. While driving, your dashboard suddenly displayed a "12V battery not charging. Stop engine" warning and the engine lost power, creating a serious safety risk. The repair will likely involve replacing the entire engine and inspecting the PCV system to prevent recurrence.

Your engine is consuming oil much faster than normal—you're adding 2 extra quarts between oil changes that only last 1,200 miles. Your oil warning light came on about a month after you bought the car, and recently your oil cap blew off. While Volkswagen says this is within specs, this level of oil loss isn't typical and needs investigation. The dealer should inspect for internal engine leaks, worn seals, or other issues causing the excessive consumption.

Your engine warning light came on and displayed a message to check your oil level. You found that your Tiguan was burning through oil much faster than normal, and an independent mechanic discovered that the cylinder head valve seals had failed, allowing oil to leak into the exhaust system where it burns off. This also caused smoke from the exhaust and a clogged emissions port. Additionally, your back-up camera stopped working. The mechanic indicated that the top half of the engine would need to be replaced to fix these issues.

Your engine is burning through oil much faster than normal — you're noticing blue smoke from the exhaust every few weeks even after adding oil, and your oil warning light keeps coming on. An independent mechanic confirmed your engine is consuming an excessive amount of oil. This could indicate worn piston rings, valve seals, or other internal engine components that need replacement or an engine rebuild.

Your Tiguan is consuming about one quart of oil every 1,000 miles, which you consider excessive. You've already paid for multiple repair attempts including PCV system work, but the oil consumption continues despite these fixes. The dealership says this consumption level is normal, but you're concerned this may indicate a deeper engine design problem.

Your engine is burning through oil faster than Volkswagen says it should, and you're seeing white smoke from the exhaust when you start up. The shop has replaced your valve seals and oil pressure regulator already, but the recommended fix — replacing the engine head — is backordered nationwide. The engine head replacement is the part needed to stop the oil consumption issue.

The vehicle has had repeated failures of the oil filter adapter to block gasket. This gasket has been replaced three times in 41,000 miles. There appears to be a failure on the part of the gasket. The vehicle has been repaired for the third time, the gasket remains with the dealership where it was repaired. I do have photos of the gasket. A catastrophic failure would result in radiator fluid pouring out of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to come to a complete stop, regardless of location. This problem has occurred three times within 41,000 miles. The part has been inspected b the mechanic who replaced it. There is no warning other than to watch for leaks.

The vehicle burns oil. When the dealer was confronted they said it was “normal” for the car to burn half a quart of oil every 2000 miles. No oil stains on the ground. The engine is burning the oil.

This car burns oil. I am adding at 1-2 quarts of oil every 2-3 months and I only have 24k miles on this car. I've had an oil consumption test completed and they said that its falling just with in normal limits. It's unacceptable. Additionally, the emergency braking system is faulty, it will register shadows or on a slightly winding road will register on coming traffic and slam on brakes. I have had cars blowing their horns and swerving from behind me in order to avoid a collision. I had that check as well and their advise was to disable it. WHAT?!? So either I disable a safety system or I get rear-ended. This is a joke and completely unacceptable.

Complete engine stoppage approximately 18:00 21 July 2021. Headed east on Germany Road, a serpentine two lane road with no shoulder. Engine stopped and vehivle coasted to a stop. I turned on the emergency lights and put the vehicle in park. Fortunately, I was able to restart the car and proceed. It was pure luck that I wasn't rear-ended.

MY CHANGE OIL SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND KEPT REMINDING ME DAILY FOR 10 DAYS THAT I NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD ONLY CHANGE THE OIL AT 10,000 MILES. I ONLY HAD 5800 MILES BUT THE OIL WAS LOW SO THEY ADDED OIL. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR 6 MONTHS. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE NEW ENGINES OR SHOULD THE OIL REALLY BE CHANGED AT 6000 MILES? I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ISSUES WITH A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BY VOLKSWAGEN TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE.
