2022 Volkswagen Taos Engine Problems

The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the check engine and ECM warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated and would only operate in LIMP Mode. During the failure, the vehicle was shaking and vibrating abnormally, and it was difficult for the driver to control the steering.

I own a 2022 VW Taos SE (Purchased New), it has been using up coolant, roughly every 2 months I needed to fill it. Took it to the dealership and they said there is a small leak in the head gasket, which they advised is common for the Taos and advised that VW is aware of this issue. However, when I contacted VW, they are unware of the issue with the Taos.

Head gasket leak. Went from zero issues with coolant whatsoever to the car smelling like it was burning after being turned on and being deemed unsafe to drive requiring a tow to the dealership for repair. Once there, head gasket replacement deemed necessary.

Periodically, when trying to accelerate, the car stutters as if it's not getting any fuel and the check engine light will flash on briefly, then go off, and keep flashing on when pressing the gas pedal. It will continue to do this until you stop, turn the car off, open then close the door, let it set for about a minute, start the car again, and you HAVE to turn off the Automatic start/stop.

my taos is been on the shop several times for a check engine light and it works for a couple of months and the light comes back on according to the dealer ship it is an evap sensor that keeps failing the power train it not at 100% it can cause an accident I was traying to do a buy back but the company said that NO my car it been on the shop at least 5 times for the same problem. Please HELP.

My car has been leaking cooling into the head gasket for 4 months. I have been waiting a month for parts and no update. My passengers and my safety was at risk when my car stalled out on a busy road.

Defect in the head gasket results in rapid dissipation of the engine coolant which may risk overheating and fire. The issue first appeared at around 15 thousand miles. I can see in online forums that there dozens of other consumers that report facing the same issue at least as early as September 2022.

When starting out from a dead stop there is a hesitation for about 1 1/2 second. If you press harder on the accelerator the vehicle surges forward. This also happens if you are on a highway and try to accelerate to change lanes or pass some other vehicle.

EPC, AUTO/SWITCH OFF ERROR, LANE CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE AND YELLOW TRIANGLE EXCLAMATION MARK LIGHT ARE ALL ON AGAIN - 4th time same issue, the engine was about to stall on me and luckily I was close to my house. Additionally there was the issue with a part recalled related with the fuel. The car was shaking when hitting the gas and seemed like engine was about to give out.

I picked my VW Taos up yesterday 8/10 from the Dealership in New Hampshire. The car shut off and stalled several times. It also shuts off by itself without pushing the engine off button.

I purchased a 2022 Volkswagen Taos from TOM‘s VW, Union, New Jersey on Sep 23, 2023. At the time of purchase, the vehicle had approximately 19000 miles. Unfortunately, I experienced the engine light illuminating after starting the car at the end of October 2024.

My head gasket is leaking and I saw that VW had other complaints about the engine code DNKA for year 2022 and after July 2023 the company had made a decision to redesign the head gasket and coatings. I don’t understand how this isn’t a recall just yet especially knowing that Taos 2022, has many problems than an average car.

Went into Volkswagen dealership as my low coolant light came on. I called early June, they couldn't get me in until June 17th, when I was then told my warranty was barely a week expired. My head gasket needs replaced and Volkswagen is refusing to cover this, knowing full well this has been an issue on thousands of these vehicles.

Light came on for leak detection pump failure upon starting car. Drove to dealer directly immediately upon looking up indicator light. Felt as if care was misfiring Deal found fuel pump in need of recall repair.

Car was purchased in August 2021. In August 2022 it was taken in for service at Onion Creek VW in Austin for multiple occurrences of alerts for low coolant level. The dealership topped off the coolant reservoir and said there are no visible leaks and refused to further diagnose.

When taking the vehicle in for service at Safford Brown Volkswagen to replace a faulty EVAP module, we were notified that the cylinder head gasket was leaking and would need to be replaced. This leaking coolant and crack in the head gasket can lead to early engine failure. This seems to be a consistent issue due to a faulty part specific to this vehicle year and make.

The engine head gasket failed and started leaking coolant has been a common issue after only a few thousand miles. My dealer has three VW Taos’s in for head gasket repairs today alone.

Multiple times while driving the check engine light has come on, followed by some shaking then the car shuts off. Taking it into the dealership for service is of no help as they claim the car is fine, but this keeps happening. Very dangerous and if you read online and complaints on this board this is not an isolated event.

Purchased 2022 VW Taos SEL new from dealer. Vehicle began using coolent triggering the coolent warning light. Engine light activated and dealer states coolent is leaking from the rear of the head gasket and is affecting the air flow system.

We received a warning light stating to check coolant system. The dealership stated it was a leak at the head gasket. Our mechanic told us to not drive the car due to the risk of this condition.

2022 VW Taos 18k miles leaking coolant - coolant light is coming on 1x per month with minimal driving and mild conditions. I have had it diagnosed 3x at the dealership and they find “no leaks” and their directive is keep an eye on the reservoir. VW forums are full of similar stories where the head gasket needs to be replaced.

I currently only have 18,000 miles on the vehicle and the low coolant light has came on twice. I took the vehicle in and the second time they said that I have a blow head gasket. The parts are on back order and I have been waiting for over 2 months for repair.they refuse to give me a loaner and I have been driving the vehicle since the diagnosis.

I pull over turn off car and turn back on and it runs fine for several weeks and then it does it again. Antelope Valley VW tells me I'm getting bad gas but I use Mobil, Chevron, or Shell

Starting and stopping. Press on the peddle the car starts and then Boggs down you need to depress further on the peddle and then the vehicle jolts forward rapidly. Have been to two different dealerships.

A vehicle randomly shuts off when stopped in a red light and you have to start it back

Engine has ceased at 67000 miles a mechanics has searched my VIN id number and 3 recalls have come back but Volkswagen says they are not applicable to my vehicle. I’d like to confirm this if possible

Had car for less than one year. Have had coolant level warning twice. First time was eight months after getting the car and the second was three months later.

Our VW Taos has 7,700 miles. This morning our engine coolant light came on. On engine inspection, our coolant level is less than minimum.

Engine coolant decreases significantly on new and hardly used vehicles.

2022 volkswagen taos. Consumer writes in regard to engine control malfunction.

I was driving along in the left lane of a 6 lane busy highway with traffic moving along at about 80 MPH when out of the blue with no warning indication whatsoever, the Taos engine shuts off and just lost all capability to accelerate. I had to then maneuver across 5 lanes of 80 MPH traffic as I was rapidly losing speed to make it to the shoulder.

No acceleration. 2022 Taos SEL 4Motion. I was attempting to turn to left and I applied the accelerator pedal and got absolutely no response.

When the vehicle is idle for 10 minutes, or so engine light lits up. Then engine turns off and can’t restart anymore unless engine cools down. Couple of times when turning, engine turn off all of a sudden.

I bought my new car June 2021.Model 2022 Volkswagen TAOS [XXX]. In a new car, every 1500 miles a light comes on to check the engine. I have already been in maintenance twice, and today the light came on again to check the motor.
