NHTSA Campaign: 14V743000
Component: SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain model year 2010-2011 Prius and Corolla, 2009-2011 Venza, 2006-2010 Avalon, 2007-2010 FJ Cruiser, 2005-2011 Sienna and Sequoia, 2006-2011 Tacoma 4x2 and 4x4, Camry, Highlander, Tundra 4x2 and 4x4, and 2007-2011 Rav4 and 4Runner. The affected vehicles may experience compression of the seat cushion which may damage the seat heater wiring.
Risk: Damage to the seat heater wiring could cause the wires to short, increasing the risk of the seat burning and causing personal injury to the occupant.
Fix: SET will notify owners, and dealers will disconnect the heaters with copper strand heating elements and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory, free of charge. The recall is expected to began in January 2015. Owners may contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226.
NHTSA Campaign: 12V091000
Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCH
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009 CAMRY VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JULY 1, 2008, THROUGH FEBRUARY 28, 2009, AND MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 VENZA VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 20, 2008, THROUGH JANUARY 4, 2011. DURING ASSEMBLY OF THE CONTACT-TYPE STOP LAMP SWITCH, SILICONE GREASE MAY HAVE COME IN CONTACT WITH THE SURFACE OF THE SWITCH WHICH COULD CAUSE CONTACT RESISTANCE. IF THIS OCCURS, WARNING LAMPS COULD ILLUMINATE, A NO START CONDITION COULD RESULT, THE SHIFT LEVER MAY NOT SHIFT FROM THE PARK POSITION, OR THE VEHICLES BRAKE LIGHTS COULD BECOME INOPERATIVE.
Risk: INOPERATIVE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT WARN OTHER DRIVERS THAT THE VEHICLE IS SLOWING OR STOPPING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Fix: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE STOP LAMP SWITCH, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 12, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
NHTSA Campaign: 13V014000
Component: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE-INACTIVE
Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain models interspersed through model years 2009 through 2013 as follows: model year 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius, and RAV4; model year 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser, and Highlander Hybrid; model year 2010-2013 model year Corolla, Sienna and Tundra; model year 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza; model year 2012 Prius V; and model year 2010-2012 Sequoia. During modification by SET to include accessories such as leather seat covers, seat heaters or headrest DVD systems, these vehicles may not have had the passenger seat occupant sensing system calibration tested. Without passing the calibration test, the occupant sensing system may not operate as designed.
Risk: If the front passenger seat occupant sensing system is out of calibration, the front passenger airbags may not deploy or they may deploy inappropriately for the passenger's size and position. This could increase the risk of personal injury during the event of a vehicle crash necessitating airbag deployment.
Fix: Southeast Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will test the sensitivity of the occupant detection sensors, and recalibrate them as necessary. The recall began on March 21, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.
NHTSA Campaign: 11V306000
Component: POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT
TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 VENZA AND SIENNA PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM MARCH 7, THROUGH MARCH 10, 2011. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE FRONT, RIGHT, DRIVE SHAFT MAY BREAK DUE TO INSUFFICIENT HEAT TREATMENT.
Risk: SHOULD THE DRIVE SHAFT BREAK DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WITHOUT WARNING MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Fix: TOYOTA WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE DRIVE SHAFT, AND, IF THE DRIVE SHAFT IS IDENTIFIED AS ONE THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CORRECTLY MANUFACTURED, IT WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE AT NO CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 22, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.

Southeast Toyota is recalling certain model year 2008 and 2010-2013 Toyota Tundra, 2010-2012 Rav4, 2012 Toyota Sequoia, 2010-2011 Toyota Corolla, 2010-2011 Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid, 2010-2013 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid, 2010-2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2010-2013 Toyota Venza, 2010-2011 Toyota 4Runner, 2010-2013 Toyota Tacoma, 2011-2012 Toyota Sienna, 2012 Toyota Prius, 2013 Scion FR-S, 2011 Scion XD, 2011 Scion XB, and 2012 Scion TC vehicles. These vehicles were sold with labels that were outside the allowable one percent of accuracy of actual weight added. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
Risk: An inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. An overloaded vehicle can result in a tire failure which may result in a vehicle crash, personal injury, or property damage.
Fix: Southeast Toyota will notify owners and provide a corrected label with instructions concerning its installation. A small group of the affected vehicles will need additonal remedies which are still being developed. The recall began on May 28, 2013. Owners may contact Southeast Toyota at 1-800-301-6859.

Component: AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW:CURTAIN
Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2009-2015 Venza vehicles. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) wiring may become damaged with regular use of the driver-side door.
Risk: Damaged wires may cause the air bag sensor to become inoperable, preventing the deployment of the side and curtain air bags on the driver side and increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Fix: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the driver-side front door wire harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 19, 2021. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 21TB01/21TA01.
Owner-Reported Issues (20 of 59)
Unknown Or Other →4 issues
Your 2011 Toyota Venza is consuming oil rapidly, requiring you to add oil every month to prevent the engine from running low. This excessive oil consumption suggests an internal engine issue that needs diagnosis and repair. A mechanic will need to inspect your engine for worn piston rings, valve seals, or other components causing the oil to burn.

Electrical System →3 issues
Your car's battery keeps draining even when you're not driving it, forcing you to replace the battery three times since 2017. This happens repeatedly, even after just 3 days of the car sitting unused. Something in the electrical system is drawing power when it shouldn't, and you'll need to have a mechanic diagnose which component or circuit is causing the parasitic drain.

Engine →2 issues
Your 2011 Venza developed a rough running condition and rattling noise, which was diagnosed as a faulty water pump and replaced. However, about 45 days later, the engine stopped running while driving because the oil level was completely empty. The dealership then determined that the engine compressors had failed and the entire engine needed replacement at a cost of $5,500-$9,400. You believe the dealership should have checked for engine compression and oil system issues (like VVT-i oil line failures) when the water pump was replaced, especially given known Toyota issues with these components affecting engine reliability. Resolving this issue may require a complete engine replacement or significant compression system repair.

Around 100,000 miles, your car started making a grinding noise when starting and was consuming oil very quickly. You took it to the dealer multiple times over several months, and they replaced the oil housing and tubing, ran tests, and said it passed—but your car is still burning about 15 quarts of oil every 5,000 miles. You're concerned the engine could stall on the highway when the oil runs out without warning. Addressing this may require further engine diagnostics, a second opinion from another dealer or independent shop, or potential engine repairs if an internal leak or consumption issue is found.

Service Brakes →1 issue
Your brakes have failed multiple times while driving, including twice on the highway and once at 30 mph when you couldn't stop and had to drive through bushes to avoid traffic. Even though your brake pads and rotors appear to be in good condition, your brakes suddenly stop responding for a couple of minutes before working again. The dealership dismissed the problem, but you've found multiple complaints online about the same issue. This brake failure needs to be diagnosed by a certified technician to identify whether the problem is with the brake master cylinder, brake lines, or the anti-lock braking system.

Electrical System,exterior Lighting,visibility/wiper →1 issue
Your 2011 Venza is leaking water inside the cabin during rain, causing electrical shorts that make the car unsafe to drive. You've owned the vehicle for less than a month and haven't made your first loan payment yet. This appears to be a known issue with this model year, and the dealer needs to inspect and seal the leak points—likely around the windows, door seals, or roof panel gaps—and check for any water damage to the electrical system.

Air Bags,seats →1 issue
Your airbag warning light turned on and a check SRS (safety restraint system) message appeared on your dashboard. The dealer cleared the error, but the messages came back when you placed your purse on the passenger seat, suggesting a sensor or wiring issue. The dealer identified that your driver's side harness needed replacement but it was on backorder and the vehicle wasn't covered under a recall. Fixing this will likely require replacing the driver's side seat harness or the passenger seat occupant sensor.

Electrical System,seats →1 issue
Your driver's side heated seat stopped working due to a malfunction that caused the wiring plug to melt and the seat to char—a fire hazard that your dealer disconnected to prevent. You've identified this matches a known Toyota recall (NHTSA ID 14V743000) affecting 2009-2011 Venza models, but Toyota told you your vehicle is outside the warranty window for the recall repair. The fix will likely involve replacing the heated seat wiring harness and potentially the seat heating element.

Electronic Stability Control (esc) →1 issue
Your dashboard warning lights for the electronic stability control system turn on about 20 minutes after you start driving. This system helps prevent skidding and loss of control, so having it malfunction is concerning. You should have a mechanic diagnose what's triggering the warning lights, which likely involves scanning the vehicle's computer for error codes.

Seats →1 issue
Your driver's side seat heater isn't warming up even though the indicator light is on. A Toyota dealer later informed you there's a recall for this model related to seat wiring, but they didn't mention it when you brought the car in to complain about the heater. The fix will likely involve inspecting and repairing the seat heater wiring harness, which should be covered under the recall.
