I HAVE TWO CONCERNS: FIRST IS THE CLEAR-COAT AND PAINT ON THE VEHICLE RUBBING OFF CAUSING THE ROOF AND OTHER BODY PANELS TO RUST, WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLE TO BE COMPROMISED IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT/ROLLOVER. SECOND IS THAT THE FRONT HEADLAMPS FILL UP WITH WATER/MOISTURE DURING COLD WEATHER/RAIN/ AND CAR WASHES. THIS COULD LEAD TO THE HEADLAMPS SHORTING OUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE INJURIES/DEATHS. TOYOTA SO FAR HAS OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO EITHER CONCERN AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY CLAIMS THEY WON'T COVER SEALED BEAM HEADLAMPS. IF THEY ARE AS THEY CLAIM SEALED BEAM HEADLAMPS HOW IS THE WATER INTRUSION HAPPENING? BOTH OF THESE CONCERNS ARE SAFETY RELATED AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS SUCH. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS LESS THAN 62,000 MILES.
2007 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB WITH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. THE ORANGE PLASTIC LENS MATERIAL HAS CRACKED AND BURNED DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE BULB. THE EFFECTS WERE NOTICED AROUND 60,000 TO 70,000 MILES. RUNNING HEADLIGHTS DURING THE DAY TO AVOID HAVING RUNNING LIGHTS ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON THE FRAME WHERE THE WIRING OF THE VEHICLE WAS LOCATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000. *TR
THE ORANGE BULB IN THE HEADLIGHTS BURNT THROUGH PLASTIC CASING INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT. ONE SIDE HAS CRACKED. I'M NOT EXACTLY SURE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT I DID NOTICE IT A WHILE BACK THAT THE BULB WAS BURNING THE PLASTIC, HOWEVER, I JUST NOTICED THAT IT CRACKED ON ONE SIDE. *TR
THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS THAT CAME WITH MY TACOMA STARTED RUNNING SO HOT THAT IT IS MELTING/CRACKING THE PLASTIC LENS/HOUSING. AFTER A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH OF THE PROBLEM, I CAME ACROSS MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH USERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME WERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM OCCUR WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT OTHERS, SUCH AS MYSELF, WERE ASKED TO PAY UPWARDS OF $800 FOR NEW HOUSINGS. AFTER LOOKING AT THE BULBS, I NOTICED THAT EVEN THE HOUSINGS FOR THE BULBS ARE SHOWING BURN MARKS. ON THE ROAD I HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 8 DIFFERENT TOYOTA TACOMAS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THEIR LENSES ARE EITHER BUBBLING UP AND BURNING, OR FULLY CRACKED. THIS SAFETY OPTION THAT CAME STANDARD ON MY TACOMA IS NOW A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP HOUSING MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE WHO STATED BOTH HEAD LAMPS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,388.

2007 TOYOTA TACOMA 4 DR. 4X4:THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE DESIGNED WITH ONLY ILLUMINATION ON THE LOWER PART OF THE ROADWAY BLOCKING SHORT DISTANCE, NIGHT TIME VISIBILITY WITH A BLACK LINE AND DANGEROUSLY LIMITING REACTION TIME. WHEN GOING DOWN AN INCLINED ROADWAY THAT APPROACHES AN UPHILL CHANGE IN THE CARTWAY, THERE IS NO OPPORTUNITY TO SEE MORE THAN THIRTY (30) YARDS IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A DISTINCT LOSS OF VISIBILITY CREATED BY A SHIELD IN THE HEADLIGHT LENS ASSEMBLY DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE LAMP BULB. THERE WAS NO CONSIDERATION GIVEN TO DRIVING ON HILLY ROADS WHEN THIS HEADLIGHT WAS DESIGNED. ONE WOULD NEVER HAVE ENOUGH REACTION TIME TO AVOID HITTING A PEDESTRIAN OR ANIMAL, EVEN DRIVING AT THIRTY (30) MPH DUE TO THE VERY DARK LINE IN THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM CREATED ON LOW BEAM ONLY. THERE ARE MANY TIMES WHEN ONE CANNOT DRIVE JUST WITH THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN AND PRESENTS A VERY SERIOUS NIGHT TIME SAFETY VISIBILITY ISSUE. TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLE FROM 2005-2007 TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH AN ENGINEERING BLUNDER THAT WAS NOT KNOWN DURING DAYTIME TEST DRIVES. *JB UPDATED 01/07/08. *LJ UPDATED 12/12/07
