"TAKATA RECALL" THE CAR IS MOVING SOME EVEN IT'S IN PARK POSITION .LATER THE GEAR SHIFTER BECOME LOOSE NOW I HAVE TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE EVERY TIME I PARK MY CAR. I CALL THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE 05 AND 06,07 ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID YOUR VIN NUMBER IS NOT LISTED ON RECALL. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
"TAKATA RECALL" PROBLEM WITHIN THE SHIFT LOCK ASSEMBLY, THE SHIFT LEVER MOVES OUT OF THE 'PARK' POSITION WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, VSC AND TRAC OFF. AS I WAS DRIVING AFTER JUST PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE FROM A DEALER AFTER ABOUT 60 MILES OR SO THESE LIGHTS ALL CAME ON THE SAME TIME. I WAS TOLD AFTER A SCANNER WAS PLACED ON THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT IT IS DUE TO EITHER CATALYTIC CONVERTOR/O2 SENSOR MALFUNCTIONS.THIS IS AN IMPORTANT EXHAUST AND EMISSION COMPONENT DESIGNED TO BURN UP TOXIC EXHAUST FUMES THAT SETS OFF THESE LIGHTS. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH NOT ONLY THIS VEHICLE BUT OTHER TOYOTAS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. WE IN THE USA WOULD LIKE TO BREATH CLEAN AIR AND IT DOESN'T SEEM FEASIBLE TO HAVE TO CONTINUE TO "FIX" THESE SENSORS DESIGNED TO MAKE CONSUMERS SPEND LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO FIX THEIR VEHICLES.
I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND PUT THE VAN IN PARK (WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE). I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND IT CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD. I QUICKLY PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE AND IT STOPPED MOVING. I THEN SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND THEN BACK TO PARK. I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE VAN CONTINUED TO ROLL FORWARD (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN PARK). I PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE TO STOP IT FROM MOVING. I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE VAN STILL ROLLED FORWARD. I QUICKLY PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION. WITH THE IGNITION OFF THE VAN STOPPED MOVING. I WAITED ABOUT 30 MIN. AND TRIED AGAIN, AT THAT TIME THE VAN WOULDN'T EVEN START (NO SOUND). I HAD THE VAN TOWED TO MY MECHANIC (IT WAS A SATURDAY). I AM WAITING FOR MY MECHANIC TO LOOK AT IT. I SEARCHED ON LINE BY VIN NUMBER AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY VAN FOR A GEAR SHIFT MALFUNCTION. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THIS.
JUNE 14, 2018 RE: TOYOTA SIENNA DASHBOARD COVER RECALL COMPLAINT MY LOCAL DEALER, FRED ANDERSON TOYOTA OF COLUMBIA, PROMISED TO REPLACE MY 05 SIENNA DASHBOARD COVER UNDER A TOYOTA WARRANTY, ON JULY 3RD, 2015, AND THAT THEY WOULD ORDER THE DASHBOARD COVER PART AND THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN IT ARRIVED. THE SERVICE ADVISOR I MET WITH IN PERSON EACH TIME WAS MR. RON KIRKLAND. I FOLLOWED UP AGAIN ON DECEMBER 17, 2015, WHEN THEY AGAIN TOLD ME THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THAT IT WAS ON ORDER, AND THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN IT ARRIVED. I FOLLOWED UP BY PHONE A FEW TIMES IN 2016, AND EARLY IN 2017. I GOT THE SAME REPLY EACH TIME I SPOKE WITH MR. KIRKLAND. I THEN FOLLOWED UP AGAIN IN PERSON ON JULY 26, 2017. I GOT THE SAME REPLY FROM MR. KIRKLAND. ON JUNE 11, 2018, I AGAIN SPOKE WITH MR. KIRKLAND REGARDING THE LACK OF PROGRESS IN COMPLETING THIS RECALL WORK. HE PROMISED TO LOOK INTO IT, AND PHONE ME WHEN HE HAD AN ANSWER. I FOLLOWED UP AGAIN WITH MR. KIRKLAND ON JUNE 14, 2018, WHEN MR. KIRKLAND STATED THAT TOYOTA WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO HONOR THIS WARRANTY WORK. I VOICED MY DISPLEASURE ABOUT TOYOTA, AND MR. KIRKLANDS LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM IN RESOLVING THIS WARRANTY SERVICE IN A TIMELY MANNER BACK IN 2015. I ASKED ONE FINAL QUESTION OF MR. KIRKLAND, HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST ME IF I PAID FOR THE DASHBOARD COVER REPLACEMENT? HE GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE OF $2,000. MORE THAN 50% OF THE CURRENT VALUE OF THE SIENNA. I AM NOW ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT EVERYONE AND ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN, IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THIS SITUATION RESOLVED ' HONORING THE DASHBOARD COVER REPLACEMENT AS TOYOTA PROMISED ME IN 2015.
CABLE ON SPARE TIRE CARRIER UNDER VEHICLE BROKE AND FORTUNATELY SPARE TIRE APPEARED TO HAVE BOUNCED AWAY FORM VEHICLE AND IN TO LAVA FIELD. COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE. LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATED THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION REGARDING A RECALL ON THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER. HOWEVER, I SEE IT REFLECTED ON LINE. I HAVE A BROKEN SPARE TIRE CARRIER AND CANNOT LOCATE THE SPARE ANYWHERE IF THE FIELD. TOYOTA USA STATES TO CONTACT SERVCO BUT THEY ARE OF NO HELP.
DASHBOARD STARTED BECOMING SOFT A FEW MONTHS AGO, WHERE IF YOU ACCIDENTLY SCRAPED IT WITH YOUR FINGERNAIL A LITTLE CHUNK WOULD COME OUT, AND THEN IT STARTED CRACKING AND EVERY TIME WE GET IN THERE, THERE IS ANOTHER CRACK. WORRIED ABOUT AIR BAG COMING OUT. I'M JUST NOW READING THAT A LETTER WAS SENT OUT FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THIS TO OWNERS, BUT WE NEVER GOT ONE. WE HAVE GOTTEN ONE FOR A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS, BUT NOT FOR THIS AND WE DIDN'T GET ONE FOR CLICKING NOISE ON DRIVER'S DOOR EITHER, WHICH IS HAPPENING NOW. I KNOW THE CAR IS OLDER, BUT IF THESE ARE DEFECTS, TOYOTA SHOULD FIX THEM. I'M READING ABOUT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS.
POWER SLIDING DOOR STUCK OPEN. WOULDN'T BUDGE - WE LIVE IN THE UPPER PENINSULLA OF MICHIGAN AND THIS HAPPENED DURING THE MIDDLE OF WINTER AS WE WERE GETTING OUR CHILDREN TO SCHOOL. TEMPS WERE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS WITH WIND CHILLS -10 TO -20 DEGREES. HAD TO PHYSICALLY FORCE THE DOOR SHUT TO CLOSE IT. IT'S STILL IN THE SAME STATE I LEFT IN. DOESN'T OPEN. IT'S JUST BARELY CLOSED/LATCHED SO THE BEEPER DOESN'T GO OFF INDICATING THE DOOR IS AJAR. CABLE IS BROKEN. OTHER DOOR IS SLOWLY CLOSING ON POWER AND WHEN TURNED OFF (POWER OPTION) THE DOOR SOMETIME WON'T STAY OPEN BUT WILL SLIDE BACK TO CLOSED POSITION. SUPER HEAVY DOOR AND LITTLE CHILDREN DON'T CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.
THIS IS A CUSTOMERS CAR. I WORK IN AN ALIGNMENT SHOP. THE CUSTOMER DROPPED THIS CAR OFF THIS MORNING FOR AN ALIGNMENT. I DROVE THE CAR INTO THE SHOP, ON THE ALIGNMENT RACK THIS MORNING. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, AND WALKED AROUND TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR, I NOTICED THE HOOD WAS OPEN. I DID NOT REMEMBER POPPING THE HOOD, BUT I FIGURED I JUST FORGOT, AND PROCEEDED TO SHUT THE HOOD, AS I DIDN'T NEED IT OPEN TO ALIGN THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE THE HOOD, IT WOULD NOT CATCH, IT JUST KEPT POPPING BACK UP. IT SEEMED TO ME THAT THE LATCH WAS STUCK. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD, I LOOKED UNDER THE DASH. WHAT I FOUND, WAS THE HOOD LATCH CABLE WAS ROUTED UNDER THE PARKING BRAKE ARM, EVERY TIME YOU SET THE PARKING BRAKE, YOU WERE "POPPING" THE HOOD! THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION! IF YOU SET THE PARKING BRAKE WITHOUT KNOWING THE HOOD IS OPEN, YOU COULD GET BACK IN THE CAR AND DRIVE AWAY, AND HAVE THE HOOD FLY OPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED, VERY DANGEROUS! ON THIS CAR I DISCONNECTED THE LATCH CABLE, AND REROUTED IT.
I'VE NOTICED A CRACK THAT HAS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD (NEAR GLOVE COMPARTMENT) AT THE PASSENGER SIDE GOING TOWARDS THE RADIO PLAYER. THERE'S ANOTHER CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD NEAR THE VENT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I'VE DONE MY RESEARCH REGARDING THIS AND FOUND THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. I'VE CONTACTED A REPRESENTATIVE OF TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN TYSONS, VA FOR THEM TO TAKE A LOOK. I ALSO WANTED TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
WHEN THE LIFTGATE IS OPEN ELECTRONICALLY, IT FALLS ABOUT 10 INCHES AFTER IT REACHES THE FULLY OPEN POSITION AT WHICH POINT THE POWER MOTOR WILL ENGAGE AND POWER THE LIFTGATE TO THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION. THE LIFTGATE SAFETY OPERATION DOES NOT GO BACK INTO OPEN POSITION WITH CHILDREN UNDERNEATH THE LIFTGATE UNTIL AFTER INJURY. THERE NEEDS TO BE RECALL BEFORE MAJOR INJURY HAPPENS TO A CHILD. THESE CHILDREN ARE GETTING THEIR BACKPACKS WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO THE LIFTGATE AND IT IS CLOSING ON THEM!
VEHICLE'S VSC ENGAGED AND APPLIED BRAKING AND STEERING INTERFERENCE AT 65 MPH ON A STRAIGHTWAY ON THE HIGHWAY IN DRY CONDITIONS AND ON A NON-DISTRESSED ROADWAY. THIS CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
THE LIFT GATE STRUTS, WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED VIA A RECALL HAVE FAILED. THE LIFT GATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN WITH THE LIFT GATE MOTOR ON OR OFF. IT SLAMS SHUT AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN TRYING LOAD IN GROCERIES TODAY, THE LIFT GATE TRIED TO CLOSE ON ME. LUCKY CHILDREN WHERE NOT THE ONES THAT WERE UNDERNEATH.
WHEN USING THE REMOTE BUTTONS FOR THE POWER SLIDER DOORS, THERE IS A LOUD POPPING/GRINDING NOISE AND THE DOORS FAIL TO OPEN. THE FIRST TIME WE REALIZED THIS WAS A CONCERN, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. OUR CONCERN IS THAT ONE DAY THE DOORS WILL QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER AND OUR CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.
PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING 5 YEARS AGO SO WE USED IT MANUALLY. DOOR STOPPED WORKING MANUALLY 2 YEARS AGO. DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WAS NOT AUTOMATIC. ONE YEAR AGO BEGAN NOT WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. NOW YOU CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE. THIS POSSES A GREAT SAFETY HAZARD. PASSENGERS IN THE REAR TWO ROWS OF THE VAN CANNOT OPEN EITHER DOOR IN AN EMERGENCY.
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AND THREE OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES. BECAUSE I VACATION AND MY EXTENDED FAMILIES LIVE IN TRINIDAD I SHIPPED THE VEHICLE THERE FOR MY USED. WHEN I SAW THE RECALL, IT WAS THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID ASSEMBLY. FOR MORE THAN A YEAR I TRIED TO HAVE TOYOTA RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM. NOWHERE IN THE RECALL NOTICE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE VEHICLE LOCATION. IT'S A WORLDWIDE RECALL, SO I THOUGHT IT CAN BE FIXED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN TRINIDAD. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. I SAID IF THEY GAVE ME THE PART I CAN TAKE IT THERE AND HAVE THE AUTHORIZED DEALER INSTALL THE PART. NOW IT A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAY THE VEHICLE CAN ONLY BE FIXED IN THE USA. IT NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT IN THE NOTICE. I BELIEVED TOYOTA HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX MY VEHICLE WITH SOME KIND OF WORKING TOGETHER WITH ME TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP ME IN THIS MATTER, I DON'T OWE ANYTHING. I AM STILL PAYING FOR 2 OF MY NEW TOYOTA CARS. THE PART IN THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM HAS A COMPONENT THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID WHICH PREVENT THE SHIFT LEVER FROM MOVING OUT OF THE "P" POSITION UNLESS THE IGNITION IS ON AND THE BRAKES PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE SOLENOID COULD BE DAMAGE AND THE SHIFT LEVER COULD MOVED OUT OF "P" POSITION WITH DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLL AWAY, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS ON MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AWD XLE. ALTHOUGH ALL OF THE DOORS WERE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE WITH FRONT DOORS SQUEAKING, THE BACK SLIDING DOOR AUTOMATIC DOOR DOES NOT OPEN AND THE REAR HATCH FAILS TO CLOSE.
"TAKATA RECALL" WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND DO LOVE OUR SIENNA. THE VEHICLE WILL DOWN SHIFT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL KICKS IN WHILE WE ARE IN A CURVE. IT IS SO BAD THAT IT ALMOST COMES TO A STOP AND SKIDS AROUND THE CURVE. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING 30 OR 45. IT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A DAILY BASIS. WE HAVE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND THEY HAVE HOOKED IT TO THEIR MACHINE AND CAN NOT SEEM TO TELL WHAT IS GOING ON WITH IT. I AM VERY CONCERNED BECAUSE I CARRY MY SMALL CHILDREN AND AM AFRAID THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO CAUSE ME TO WRECK. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT COULD BE SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS AND THAT IT IS GOING TO BE TRIAL AND ERROR TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE IT MAY BE. WHILE COSTING US HUNDREDS, EVEN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THIS MORNING MY HUSBAND WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THE GUY TOLD HIM THAT HE IS MORE THAN SURE THAT IT IS THE "YAW" RATE SENSOR, HE HAS SEEN IT ON SEVERAL TOYOTA'S. HE HAS SEEN THIS ON SEVERAL TOYOTAS AND THAT TOYOTA THEMSELVES WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT I AM VERY UPSET BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THAT PARTICULAR PART ON MANY VEHICLES YET TOYOTA WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY I SHOULD BE OUT MONEY FOR A FAULTY PART. MAKE NO MISTAKE I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANOTHER TOYOTA FOR THIS REASON. IF TOYOTA WILL NOT MAKE THE EFFORT TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHY WOULD I PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE MADE BY THEM, IT IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT I HAD CAUSED MYSELF I COULD UNDERSTAND. JUST THIS PAST SUMMER WE REPLACED THE AIR CONDITIONER, I DID NOT WANT TOYOTA TO FIX THAT BECAUSE IT IS NORMAL VEHICLE MAINTENANCE. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT TOYOTA NEEDS TO DEAL WITH AND FIX BECAUSE THEIR VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE!!!!
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SLIDING DOOR WHEN IT SNAPPED SUDDENLY WHILE IT WAS ON A STEEP HILL, THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON A CITY STREET . NOW THE DOOR IS STUCK AND I CANT OPEN IT NEITHER AUTOMATICALLY NOR MANUALLY.
CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER AND TOYOTA ABOUT "CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM ZE6" CRACKED DASHBOARD. DEALER KEEPS PROMISING TO INSTALL MONTH AFTER MONTH, FOR THE LAST SIX MONTH WITH NO RESOLUTION. TOYOTA SAID THEY NO ETA ON REPLACEMENT DASHBOARDS. CAR IS NOT IN A SELLABLE CONDITION WITH CRACKED DASHBOARD.
I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON INTERSTATE 55/70 APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES EAST OF THE POPLAR STREET BRIDGE WHEN THE SUNROOF SHATTERED. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM WITH THE ROOF AND NOTHING WAS THROWN UP BY OR DROPPED FROM A VEHICLE IN THE AREA AND I WAS NOT PASSING UNDER AN OVERPASSING STREET. THE SUNROOF JUST SHATTERED ON ITS OWN DROPPING GLASS INTO THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS OFF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I CLOSED THE INTERIOR SHIELD TO MINIMIZE THE AMOUNT OF GLASS IN THE VEHICLE, BUT GLASS CONTINUED TO FALL OFF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE ALL THE WAY BACK TO ORLAND PARK.
ON THE TOYOTA SIENNA THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THE DOORS NOT OPENING OR NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THEM. ON MY SISTER'S CAR THE AUTOMATIC ELECTRIC DOOR AS WELL AS THE MANUAL DOOR HAVE BOTH STOPPED WORKING. WITH THESE DOORS BEING BROKEN AND UNABLE TO OPEN...ANYONE IN THE BACK OF THE CAR WOULD BE TRAPPED IN AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE. THESE DOORS NEED TO BE RECALLED.
IN THE PAST MONTH, I HAVE HAD MAJOR ISSUES WITH THREE OF THE DOORS ON MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE. THE TAB WELDS ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR HAVE SNAPPED, THE CABLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR SNAPPED AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR ONLY WORKS MANUALLY. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE SLIDING DOORS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND THAT THE FRONT DOOR, HAD AN EXTENDED CUSTOMER CARE PROGRAM BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE WELDS. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS A BIG RELIEF FOR ME BECAUSE OF THE COST OF REPAIRING THE DOORS ($ 4,000+). WHEN I WAS TRANSFERRED FROM THE CALL TAKER TO TOYOTA ITSELF, I WAS THEN TOLD NONE OF THE DOORS ARE COVERED. I WAS TOLD THE DOORS WERE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED CUSTOMER CAR WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE DOORS HAS EXPIRED SO TOYOTA WON'T COVER THEM. AS OF NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER WILL NOT OPEN BECAUSE THE SNAPPED CABLE JAMMED THE DOOR SHUT. THE DRIVER'S DOOR MAKES TWO LOUD "CLUNKS" WHEN OPEN AND CLOSED AND IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT DOOR BECOMES INOPERABLE. I WOULD THINK THAT NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT ONE OF THE DOORS WOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY RISK AND IT IS OBVIOUS TOYOTA KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ALREADY HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.

DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL, MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY. ORIGINALLY, WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES, THIS SLIDING DOOR WOULD PARTIALLY CLOSE, BUT JUST BEFORE LATCHING CLOSED, WOULD REVERSE DIRECTION AND REOPEN. TOYOTA DEALER STATED THIS WAS NOT PART OF TOYOTA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT REPLACED THE HINGE FOR THE COST OF PARTS WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR ALSO BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS OPENING WITH THE INTERIOR BUTTONS AND REMOTE (AT ABOUT 110,000 MILES). EVIDENTLY, TOYOTA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER VERY MUCH BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME EVERY TIME THAT IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM, AND CONTACTING THEIR CORPORATE RESULTED IN NO ACTION. AFTER HAVING ALL THE ITEMS FIXED AT THE END OF MAY, A MONTH LATER THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR ONCE AGAIN WOULD NOT OPEN WITH THE SWITCHES, AND QUITE OFTEN HANGS UP PARTIALLY OPEN OR CLOSED WHEN USING THE HANDLES. THIS CAUSES A PROBLEM/SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CHILDREN ARE DROPPED OFF AND PICKED UP AT SCHOOL BECAUSE THEY (OR A TEACHER) HAVE TO RETURN TO THE VEHICLE, OR PARENT GET OUT AND GO AROUND, TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR NOT OPENING AT ALL NOW POSES A SERIOUS RISK SHOULD AN EMERGENCY HAPPEN AND THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE TO CLIMB OVER THE SEAT OR EXIT THE VAN TO GO TO THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR (THAT MAY HANG UP) TO REACH OUR YOUNG DAUGHTER. I BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THEIR 2005 SIENNAS' SLIDING DOORS BECAUSE THIS RESULTS IN MANY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AND THIS IS AN EXTENSIVE PROBLEM (I KNOW OF MULTIPLE OWNER'S WITH THESE PROBLEMS AND A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH GETS COUNTLESS HITS).
I FIRST EXPERIENCE ISSUE WITH THE DOORS CLOSING BUT NOT SMOOTHLY AND THE DEALER AT THE TIME WAS WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG BUT I WOULD OCCASSIONALLY HAVE TO TUG ON TEH DOOR LATCH 5-7 TIMES VERY FORCEFULLY IN ORDER FOR THE DOOR TO DISENGAGE AND START TO OPEN. I SWITCHED TO A TOYOTA DEALER WITHIN 5 MILES OF MY HOME AND HAD MY CAR IN FOR REGULAR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES I REQUESTED THE SIDE SLIDING DOORS CHECKED BECAUSE THE DRIVER SIDE HAD MORE FREQUENT OCCURANCE OF NOT OPENING UNLESS TUGGING VERY FORCEFULLY ON THE LATCH AND THEN ONCE IT STARTED TO OPEN IT MADE A CREAKING SOUND THAT I EXPLAINED AS SOUNDING LIKE A STRAINED METAL WIRE. I ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY ISSUES WITH DOOR MECHANISMS OR MOTORS ETC AS I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF RECALL NOTICE, ETC. I WAS TOLD ON 3 SEPERATE OCCASSIONS THAT THE DOORS WERE IN WORKING ORDER . ON 7/16/13. I BROUGHT CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOASE SERVICE ENG LIGHT THAT CAME ON AND INDICATED SLIDING DOORS WERE MAKING ODD NOISES AND SEEMED TO HAVE DIFFICULTY CLOSING COMPLETELY. THE DEALER CALLED THE NEXT DAY AND INDICATED A COST $5K FOR REPAIRS. I INQUIRED ABOUT THE SLIDING DOORS AND WAS TOLD BY THE PHONE REP THAT THERE WAS NO DOCUMENTATION OF A DOOR PROBLEM AND I EXPLAINED THAT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES AND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CHECKED. I WAS ASKED TO HOLD AND THEN WAS TOLD THE DOORS WERE CHECKED AND HAD NO ISSUE. THAT WAS A LIE. I LEFT FOR VACATION ON 7/19 AND RETURNED ON 8/7 WITHOUT MY SIENNA. THE DAY I GOT BACK THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENED BUT BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE I HIT THE BUTTON TO CLOSE I HEARD THE MOTOR FOR THE DOOR BUT IT DIDN'T MOVE. I FOUND A PEICE OF BLACK PLASTIC ON THE GROUND AND A METAL CABLE HANGING FROM THE SIDE OF THE CAR. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF RECAL/EXTENDED COVERAGE FOR THE SLIDING DOORS I WOULD HAVE DEMANDED REPLACEMENT!
I LILVE IN COLORADO AND THE DOORS WILL NOT OPEN WHEN WEATHER DROPS BELOW FREEZING. MY KIDS COULD NOT OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE EITHER. I RECENTLY BROKE THE HANDLE WHILE TRYING TO JERK THE DOOR OPEN. IT ONLY HAPPENS IN WINTER, BUT HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE.
THE SLIDING PASSENGER SUDDENLY FAILED TO OPERATE. CAN NOT EVEN MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR. APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH CABLE. HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE DOOR OPEN. VERY UNSAFE WITH LITTLE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE! THERE WAS NO WAY TO MANUALLY OVERRIDE THIS ISSUE EITHER! *TT
POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILS TO CLOSE COMPLETELY DUE TO FRAYED CABLE. REPAIR REQUIRES COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF CABLES, HINGE, AND MOTOR BY TOYOTA, WHICH WILL COST $1700. MANY SIENNAS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. TOYOTA SHOW REPAIR THESE AS A RECALL, BUT REFUSED TO DO SO ON MY VAN.
IN FREEZING COLD WEATHER, THE REAR SLIDING DOORS ON THE PASSENGER (AUTOMATIC) AND DRIVER (MANUAL) SIDE FREEZE SHUT. THE VEHICLE IS KEPT IN A GARAGE AND MY WIFE HAS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS PLACED OUR YOUNG CHILDREN (AGES 2, 5 AND 7) IN THE VEHICLE TO GO SOMEWHERE AND UPON ARRIVING THE DOORS ARE FROZEN SHUT AND SHE'LL NEED TO GET THEM OUT THROUGH THE FRONT DRIVER OR PASSENGER DOOR. WE'VE ALSO HAD IT WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO OPEN ONE OF THE DOOR ENOUGH TO UNLATCH IT BUT CAN'T GET IT ANY FURTHER. AT THAT POINT, WE ARE UNABLE TO GET IT FULLY SHUT AGAIN AND ARE FORCED TO DRIVE WITH THE SYSTEM WARNING THAT A DOOR IS AJAR. WE HAVE NOT HAD IT THAW AND FLY OPEN WHILE DRIVING, BUT IT IS UNNERVING. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ALMOST EVERY DAY DURING THE WINTER AND PRESENTS A DANGER TO MY CHILDREN AS MY WIFE CANNOT EASILY REMOVE THEM FROM THE VEHICLE IF NECESSARY WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO HELP US AND THE MANY OTHER TOYOTA SIENNA OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE.

MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AUTOMATIC DOORS WON'T OPEN. THE WIRE CONNECTING IT TO THE MOTOR IS JAMMED AND ALTHOUGH I CAN HEAR THE ELECTRICAL PART TRYING TO OPEN IT, TOYOTA CLAIMS I NEED A COMPLETELY NEW MOTOR TO OPEN MY DOOR. $1300. YIKES. *TR

I PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM JOE MYERS TOYOTA ON 02-09-2006. IT HAS ONLY BEEN A MONTH SINCE THEN AND THE CAR IS ALREADY GIVING ME PROBLEMS. I CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY WERE NO HELP AT ALL. THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE RIGHT. I TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY SAID IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT THIS PROBLEMATIC CAR ANYMORE.
